We made it through, thus far, fairly unscathed. DH, Arrena, and I left on Friday the 15th for NY and met up with my family at my brother's home. Sat. the 16th, we all left for JFK and flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico. From there, we flew to St. Thomas, USVI and THEN we took a ferry to the Westin at St. John. Whew! Needless to say, we were tired after our planes, trains, and automobiles adventure.
But once we were there, we had a great time. The weather was warm, and Arrena got to soak up the attention of having her aunts, uncles, grandmother and cousin around her. It'll take us weeks to unspoil her. And Arrena was the only one who wasn't eaten up by mosquitos. We spent a week having a great time (despite me having to work, and three of us having our laptops with us. Ugh!). Arrena even managed to nap well.
On the 23rd, we ferried back to St. Thomas, then flew to San Juan, the flew to NY, only to have my car service LEAVE US CURBSIDE FOR AN HOUR!!! At 9:30pm! We got home around 11pm and they seemed surprised when I gave them an earful. Crazy.
Christmas was great. My nephew, Cameron, was the most excited, of course. Arrena was just happy with the attention. My DH bought be a pearl necklace on the island, so I had a lovely Christmas.
Yesterday, we got up and flew back to L.A. I vow to never take another 5+ hour plane trip with a toddler again. Arrena is generally a champ on planes, but after 6 flights, she was through. So were we. We made it home to find that our neighbors were having a boxing day party so we ran over there (any excuse to not have to unpack) and ate. Now, we're just trying to get back on track. Sadly, I had to go to work today, and I'll have to tomorrow, too. I'm sure I'll start enjoying being the boss any day now.
