I've been watching the Today Show as they pay tribute to the contributions of Katie through the years. I have to say that between laughing and crying, I feel emotionally exhausted!
Katie brings such an amazing energy - it will be hard to replace. She's such an inspiration.
I just switched the channel over and saw the closing and it made me cry. I haven't watched the Today show is about 4 years! I'm such a sap. But does that mean that Meredith Viera's last day is this week? B.C I actually watch that-imagine what that will do to me
I watch the Today Show most mornings, but didn't get up early enough today. I'm not that upset about Katie leaving. There's something about her that gives me this feeling that she's so nice on screen, but if you really met her she'd be not so nice. Just my feeling. I mostly watch b/c I like Matt, Al, Natalie, and especially Ann Curry. I really wish Katie was being replaced by Ann. I don't like Meredith Vierra and I'm not sure how she'll fit in. I think NBC could have made a better choice.
I caught a little bit of her going away show. It was a little sad to me for some reason. I got choked up when Tony Bennett sang "The Way you looked tonight" (not sure if proper title) which was the song that she and Jay first danced too, just so sad...
Anyway I thought it was fun to see the pics of them years ago - Matt Lauer has lost a LOT of hair over the years.....
I am also an avid fan of the Today show and held back the tears this morning. Meredith does not start until September... but I am not sure when her official last day is on the View.
jbenny - I also wish they were replacing Katie with Ann... b/c I love Ann Curry. I don't know how Meredith will fit in. But it will be very interesting.
alienhost - you caught the slow progress of Matt's hair loss --- & I kept looking at how much weight Al has lost over the years...

I think most people who have worked with her would agree with you. From what I understand she ain't so sweet. I won't miss Katie, but I think Meredith is the lesser of two evils. Thank god for Diane Sawyer in the am.
I'm with the buh-bye crowd. Personally, I can't stand her.
