Default Help Me Pick My Color Scheme!

So, I am getting married in December, and I know I want a winter theme. the problem is, I am torn between two! I love the golds and reds of the season, their beautiful and traditional, and I would go with a "Christmassy" theme with ornaments and more traditional elements. But, I also love Blues and silvers, with a snowflake theme, less "Christmassy", more winter-y.

I voted snowflakes, because I've always said if I could do my wedding all over again I'd do the "winter wonderland" thing.

Perhaps you can incorporate both? Red and silver and snowflakes? ( mel7dog did that and it was beautiful!)

Are you getting married in a church? My church always decorates in red... which cut down on some decorating expenses if that was already worked in!

Sarah--I could incorporate both. The themes aren't as much distress for me as the colors. Basically, I can't decide between red or blue!

J&T2005--I'm not sure if we are getting married in a church yet, or not. But, that is a good point....Any church I've been to around the holidays decorates in reds and greens...

Edited to change shurch to church..............

Thanks maplekitty! I was jjst coming here to say I did both. Deep red dresses for the BM w/matching flowers, but mostly silver/white snowflake for the reception. You can take a little from each

Not sure if this will help you or not, but whenever I see blue and white decorations that time of year, I always think Chanukah, not Christmas. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'd go with red snowflakes! It's different and I think it's really cool. I had a white/silver snowflake wedding in 2001 and loved it. I think no matter what you decide to go with you will end up with a beautiful wedding. Good luck!

    Hey Natasha!

I'm not sure if you remember me, but we were journal buddies over on the other place! It's so good to "bump" into you again and congratulations on your beautiful daughter!

I love the red/gold color scheme. However, I think you should consider where you'll be having your ceremony and reception. Take a look at those places and see what color would go best with the venues.

    Good luck!

    Thanks, everyone!

mel7dog--I LOVED the way your wedding turned out. I used pictures from your WC photo album album as inspiration!

BTB--That's funny you say that. My dad's family is Jewish, and it never even occurred to me that those are the colors associated with Hanukkah!

Lindsan--I love hearing from other winter brides! Any time of year is great to get married, but I think winter is a little extra "magical".

QueenofCA--Of course I remember you! You make a good point, I am not 100% sure where we are getting married yet...........

I voted for blues & silvers. Why? Because I know someone who did it and I just loved the navy blue against the snow (she got lucky and it snowed literally the day before her wedding). It was beautiful!
