Default Warm weather travel w/ 5 mo old?

Hi...We're planning on taking DS to Arizona next month (DH has a conference) for a weekend. He'll be almost 5 months then. What sort of stuff will I need? I'm thinking that it would be fun to walk around the pool with him...can you get waterproof diapers for a baby that little, or will I need some sort of swim pants? What kind of carrier do they have to take into water? I know he can't wear sunscreen yet so I guess any outdoor time will have to be limited, but it will be such a nice break from all the snow!!
I have lots of questions about flying with him too (about 4-5 hrs) but I know I've seen a thread on that already so I'll do a search. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Definitely he can go in the pool! You can get a reusable swim diaper or the Huggies Little Swimmers disposibles. It's hard to find the resusable swim diapers this time of year. We just took/take my son in without a carrier - just were very careful to hold on to him!

    Have fun!

check the weather in the area. The desert is notorious for drastic temp shift within a day. When we went to the beach with DD, we brought an enormous umbrella for her to sit in.

I live in Arizona and I think it's freezing right now!! Last weekend a lady at the mall was from out of town and was purchasing a swimsuit to go swimming, I thought she was crazy but then again I've never lived anywhere colder then here. Let me know if you have any questions!!

Body Glove makes a baby bjorn type carrier that you can use in the water. I've seen it in the One Step Ahead catalog.

Does your hotel have an indoor heated pool? It's been really cold here lately! I mean, nice enough for being outside, but I would be way too cold to get in the water! Then again, some people have much thicker blood than I do! Let me know if you have any questions about fun things to do in AZ.

Thanks for all the responses, especially the AZ-natives!! I guess I envisioned that it would be really warm and sunny, but didn't even think to check (totally not my usual anal, organized self!! Must be the sleep deprivation ). So I just checked online now, and it's 57!! Brr, ok, maybe no pool Supposed to be 69 next week but that may still be too chilly. I guess I'll check when it gets closer (it's Jan 20th), and if it looks warm enough I'll get those swim diaper things. Sounds like I'll have to look into what else they have at the hotel and the area (Scottsdale).
    Thanks again!!

January it's usually still pretty cold. Scottsdale is like 15 minutes north of me. There is plenty to do around here. Here are some fun family stuff.
    1. The Phoenix Zoo
    2. McCormick Stillman Railroad Park
Unique park amenities for the young ones include a lovely carousel. This park is special because of the trains and railroad-related exhibits. A ten minute train ride also takes you through an arboretum located in the park.
    3. Rawhide (depending on how far north you are staying)
Cowboy town. Horse rides, train ride, fake shootout, etc. Actors dress up like cowboys it's really fun!!

Here is a neat Scottsdale link- www.scottsdalecvb.com
Hope you find some fun options. Arizona is so beautiful, I love it here!!

Be prepared for extreme temperature changes. It *can* be warmish during the day, but only for a few hours. It can actually get below freezing in the winter at night / mornings. Bring layering clothing.

When I was going to school there, I would leave in the AM for class in a big jacket, mittens, etc. and come some in a long sleeve t-shirt & jeans. (I am also a wimp for the cold, being a So Cal native!)
