We're having a martini/housewarming party next weekend. So far we have 30 people coming with 11 maybe's and 9 who haven't answered. We're going to Costco and get some frozen appetizers to pop in the oven if all 50 show (or if people just eat a lot, lol) but our main menu is this:

Roast beef service (large beef tenderloin with small buns, toppings, etc for mini beef sandwiches)

Full salmon service (large salmon with normal sides)

Asiago Cheese balls

Stuffed olive cheese balls

Date & goat cheese crostini

Fennel potato chips

Cheese service

Misc nuts

Chips & Salsa

Veggies & dip

Cucumber & crab canapes

We'll also be having three types of adult cupcakes and a friend has said they are bringing some hot appetizer for 30.

We're trying to keep the menu simple and all finger foods and stuff we can make ahead. Does this sound like enough variety?

I think it sounds like plenty of food for 30 people....but I would definitely have the extras on hand in case more people show up.

eta: Personally, I would probably add some fruit and dip as well, just to have another dessert-y type option.

Fruit is a great idea. Maybe some fruit skewers or something.

Looks yummy. My only suggestion is a proscuitto calzone...super easy to make and it's always a hit. Get six or seven slices of proscuitto, five slices of provolone, a bag of fresh pizza dough. Let the dough rise, spread it out, layer with meat and cheese, then braid into a long log, brush with egg white, bake for 25 minutes. Cut at an angle into 3/4" slices and serve. You can prepare this in the morning and leave in the fridge til you're ready to bake it.

On second thought, triple all that and make 3 calzones, since they tend to disappear immediately! You're going to have lots of happy guests regardless. :)

Edited: I almost forgot...what about shrimp cocktail?

yum! Those fennel chips sound great!

I think that is more than enough. The calzone sounds delish, but I don't think you need it. I always make sure I have plenty of fewer dishes than lots of different ones. It makes for less work and makes sure everyone can h ave everything.

Depending on your crowd, though, I'd recommend lots of veggies for the dip. I've had two parties in the last 6 mos. where I've been AMAZED at how quickly the veggies went.

I agree a second dessert is a good idea. A fruity one (or fruit), I also agree with. If you want easy, though, costco has a box of frozen cream puffs that are delish and all you do is let them thaw.

Have a great time. I'm sure your guests will be impressed!
