I did a search for a thread on these shoes, but couldn't find one. I have a load of questions about Crocs (http://www.crocs.com/home.jsp)!

Do you wear Crocs?
If so, do you recommend them? Why or why not?
Do they feel clunky on?
Do they make your feet feel sweaty because they're plastic?!
Do you wear them barefooted or with socks on?
Are they really as comfortable as they say they are??

Inquiring minds want to know! TIA!!

My mom wears them for gardening and yard work and loves them because they are super comfortable and the dirt can be hosed right off. She wears them barefoot; she has never mentioned a problem with sweating in them. I don't have any myself, as I don't garden, and to be honest I think they are far too ugly looking to wear outside of one's home or yard. I am always suprised to see people wearing them out, as I just don't think they are at all attractive.

lol I agree, about their ugliness - I've thought the same thing about lots of shoes (ballet flats, UGGS)! lol That said, I'm a teacher and thought they would be perfect for wearing around the classroom!

Thanks for the feedback!

My brother has some and he loves them. I really think he would wear them all the time (ie work, church, out and about) but his wife protests! I think he mainly wears them around the house and outside, etc. I bought my dad some for father's day and he wears them around the house, to dump the trash, and sometimes in the lawn. I guess they both wear them like some people wear flip flops. They've never complained about sweating issues. I've tried them on and they do seem very comfy. They are pretty ugly, but I think if you get a color like navy or black they aren't as bad as say, the bright yellow ones! They are also super lightweight, so I don't think they feel clunky.

A lot of people at work wear them with their scrubs and they find them very comfortable. They always wear socks as dictated by our dress code. As for sweating, they do not have too much of a problem because they are "ventilated" with all the holes in the top.

I live just outside Boulder, CO where Crocs originated. Everyone around here has them. My husband & I did a booth at a local fair about a month ago and I started counting Crocs I saw on feet walking past--I counted 80 pairs in 1/2 day.
I have 3 pairs--1 actual Crocs and 2 pairs of the Payless Shoe Source knock offs. They are indistinguishable to me. (Regular Crocs=$30, Payless=$14.99). They are ugly but everyone around here wears them out for any occasion, it's kind of a relaxed area when it comes to fashion though (Boulder people are known for wearing a lot of fleece, jeans, birkenstocks etc). I wear them pretty much all the time, because I have very wide feet and it is very difficult for me to find comfortable shoes. I have one black pair, one hot pink and one lavender.

As for your questions:
I wear them
I highly recommend them
They do not feel clunky, they are very lightweight and extremely comfortable
They do not make your feet sweaty in the same way that, say, cheap vinyl shoes or jelly shoes do. You do get a little sweaty if you wear them barefoot but not uncomfortably so.
I wear them both with socks and without.
Yes, they really are that comfortable.

Ah, okay, now it all makes sense! We were in Boulder this past summer, and I kept thinking, why are all these people wearing weird plastic shoes? Is this a whole town of stinky, sweaty footed people?

Ok, they're ugly (for sure) but they're comfortable, stay on your feet and are
wide. I have 2 pair that I wear on weekends. I'm afraid to wear them all the time because I fear that my wide feet will spread and get wider.

I think they're kind of ugly, but we have a friend who is sort of a hippy/bohemian and he swears by them. Absolutely loves them!

When I got my hair highlighted & cut the other day I noticed 4 ladies wearing them - I asked one lady about them. She said they were extremely comfy esp since they stand on their feet all day. They did not look that bad when wearing jeans with them - when we went to the sportmans warehouse I showed them to huuby and son - I tried on a pair they were very comfy - my ds said tons of kids at his school wear them ... I have thought about going back & buying them

So while they may not be the most fashionable footwear, they are pretty darn comfy. My husband and I own a business where we are on our feet 10+ hours a day and we both wear Crocs. He has the ones without holes and I have the ones with holes. Even with the holes, my feet do get a little sweaty sometimes, but not bad like if you're wearing cheap payless plastic shoes. Nothing against payless, but their cheap material can make your feet feel nasty. I've never worn socks with them but some of our employees wear those thin socks that don't come up over your ankles. While they look clunky, they don't feel it at all. They are foamy and lightweight. Everyone here in the restaurant business and medical field wear them because they are so easy to clean- just throw in the dishwasher. I highly recommend them. Maybe not for a fashion show but if you need comfy shoes, these are it.

Hey there! I had asked this question a while ago (I don't think the thread is showing up anymore). Here's my thread, the ladies were super helpful!

http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=7739&highlight=crocs%21

I think they're popular depending on which part of the country you're in. I hear that there are a load of teachers and nurses that swear by them. I want a pair of black ones to wear around the classroom!

GeekGirl

Wow, I read through that whole thread....and I realize I am from outside of Detroit and we may not be the hippest area in the country (although I do work in Ann Arbor, and they tend to be a bit more trendy there) ...but I have never ever once seen a single person wearing Crocs - nor have I ever seen a pair sold in a store!

That said...I think I am woman enough to try a pair on - and if they really are that comfortable, I'd probably buy some! :D

I used to frequent another board where the folks would sell their SOULS for a pair of these. There were pages and pages dedicated to the love of Crocs. I do not have a pair btu have been tempted, especially in the summer time.

I live in Denver, and since Crocs are made in Boulder, I have seen tons of them ever since last summer. I think they are hideous, but they are probably comfortable. They are EVERYWHERE here. They sell them at the organic grocery store!

Has anyone bought this version of Crocs? I think they are really cute but i wonder about their comfort. I'm not sure if there is a store around here i will be able to find them and try them on. I usually only see the closed toe Crocs which i've never purchased. I might consider purchasing if i could ever find a size bigger than an 8! In Crocs i think i wear like a womens 11 according to their sizing chart.

I've been tempted recently to buy a pair of regular Crocs, despite how ugly I've thought they were in the past. I have several co-workers who swear they're the most comfy things ever!

I haven't seen those Croc flip flops though. They are very cute! I think you should go for it.

sublime311

They are cute. I just received an email from Crocs announcing them - guess they're new. REI and places like that have them. There is a store locator on the Crocs website (http://www.crocs.com/home.jsp) or you could just buy them directly from there.

They have a new wedge, too, that would be supper cute for beach vacations! It's called "sassari". After clicking on that link above, click on the "spring line" link at the bottom to see 'em.

I don't know about other areas of the country, but crocs knock-offs are now sold here in Walmart, grocery stores, and payless shoes. Croc brand crocs are $30.00, the knockoffs are anywhere from $7.99-14.99

I have one pair of real crocs and 2 pairs of knockoffs. I can't really tell the difference. I have very wide feet and can't wear most shoes--crocs are my lifesaver!

I didn't know they made flip flops! I live in my flops in the summer and would cut off my right arm for a pair that doesn't make my feet hurt. I wonder if these live up to their description? The charcoal/seafoam ones are really cute. As are the chocolate/cotton.

I'm gonna merge the 2 Crocs' threads and will add this to the coomonly searched sticky. Then I'm off to see if Zappos carries those flip flops! :)

I live in flip flops too but i HATE flip flops with plastic uppers. It looks like these crocs are like my TEVA straps but with the croc soles so and a little extra lift. I walk SO much better in shoes that have a wedge than flat flip flops.

My mall has a Crocs kiosk -- you may want to check around you to see about that option.

Don't have any for myself, but my daughter is on her 2nd pair; she loves them. And they're not so ugly on tiny feet LOL For anyone else looking for kids, a while back at Academy I saw a line that Crocs has made in conjunction with Disney -- the holes in the toes are in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head LOL

They also are starting to do collegiate logo Crocs.

I wore a pair of Crocs sandals on our trip to Disney last year. I was one of two people in our traveling party (the other had Crocs too) that didn't end up with blisters or sore feet. These were the sandals (http://shop.crocs.com/pc-22-4-nile.aspx?reqid=22&reqProdTypeId=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products) I had for the trip. I got them because they had a strap (just in case the rides caused slippage).

I recently bought this pair (http://shop.crocs.com/pc-34-4-mary-janes.aspx?reqid=34&reqProdTypeId=41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products)in chocolate because I'm 35 weeks pregnant, teach high school (which means swollen feet), and can't bend over to tie my shoes anymore. They're working nicely for me.

I found a review that said the upper is made of microsuede (bottom side) and nylon (top side). Thank God because I can only wear flip flops with fabric between the toes.

The colors and sizes I want are out of stock on the Crocs site. www.yoderdepartmentstore.com has them for $37.98 (without tax and shipping, of course). There are some on ebay, but no good deals. That's the cheapest I've seen so far.

Here in NH, they are very popular...especially amoung the Subaru-driving, organic, slinging moms and toddlers (of whom I consider myself to be "part of"). I just don't like them - I'll stick to birkenstocks:-) I think they are kind-of cute on the toddlers. One little guy in my playgroup always wears a blue one and a green one (by his choice).

My DH hates my Birks and gives me crap everytime I wear them. So I'm really thinking about buying a pair of Crocs just for the last word. They do look comfy, and I'd love to have footwear to do yardwork in that isn't a pair of flip flops (I hate tennis shoes!).

Just an FYI, some doctors feel that crocs should not be worn by children, as they have been linked to tibia/fibula fractures in the toddler/schoolage child. A report aired on NBC about it at the end of last summer. From working in the ER, I'll say I have seen a least a dozen injuries related to these shoes, mostly when they get wet because they are super slippery. I'l try to find the report and post it.

I want to try the mary janes and the prima (flat ballet-slipper style)... I saw the crocs before and was like, no way. Well we bought ours and they are very comfy and will be great for our vacation with all the walking around. You can wear socks with the crocs if you get sweaty feet. I didn't have the problem of sweaty feet though, like when we had jellies back in the 80's. The crocs don't fit so tight to your feet like they did. There is more space between your feet and the holes so air can get in.

I am very interested to see the report, because I have searched for info on this on the web ever since I purchased a knockoff pair for my little guy and my friend gave me a warning about them. She said she heard that they grip so hard that when going down a slide the shoe can stick and bend the kid's leg backward. Kind of opposite of the slippery thing.
The only thing I could find online is some claims about escalator injuries.

I've never gotten blisters, and I've worn Crocs sandals a week at Disney World (lots of walking, walking, walking in the heat). I've also worn my brown mary jane crocs to school (35-37 weeks pg so far) with no blisters as well.

For me the sizes run right on. I wear a nine in athletic shoes and bought a nine in my mary janes. I am finding that with pg, my size 9 sandals (Nile style) are a bit snug though.

I don't like them personally. I like fashion and function or sometimes fashion over function, but NEVER function over fashion. Even though they have become incredilby fashionable. I got some a few weeks ago, and just wear them around the yard. I had to get them a half-size smaller than my normal shoe size because they were just too big a half-size up. I have a narrow foot, too, so I had to make sure they weren't too wide, which is why I went smaller.

They're pretty comfortable just for wandering around the yard. I have some greenish-teal ones, so if they get grass stains on them, no problem--they blend in. :) The only place I might wear them out in public would be to the beach--if we had a beach around here, that is. I like that I can hose them off.

Everyone in my family own at least one pair of crocs. My DH has a black pair, my oldest DD and I own lavender, yellow and orange (we can wear the same size) and my youngest DD has a yellow pair and just got a hot pink pair for her birthday. Needless to say, we love them. They are so comfortable, my DH and I mainly wear them around the house or outside. My DD's wear theirs about anywhere. They especially like to take them on their softball tournaments so they can take their cleats off and slip them on between games.

I've been wondering that too. Everyone comments on how wide they are, but I have really narrow feet. Am I going to be slip and sliding around in them?

Also, I see a lot of people saying they wear Crocs to work. What about city streets, are Crocs good for walking around town or are they more inside shoes?

I still think they're ugly, but they aren't *really* any uglier then my cheapo plastic flip flops and they look a bit better for my feet.

ETA: How long do Crocs last? Are they going to hold up for a couple summers, or do they fall apart after a couple months?

Katie&Micah

I really want to order Prima but read that they are "slim-fitting." I don't have narrow feet so I'm wondering if they'll be too tight width wise. If you own these do you find them to be too narrow?

I just bought a pair of the new flip-flop version and I don't like them at all. They really hurt in between the toes.

I love my classic Crocs though. I've resorted to wearing them whenever I'm not at work. Great for around the house or out running errands. They're so comfortable, I feel like I'm wearing slippers.

I really want to order Prima but read that they are "slim-fitting." I don't have narrow feet so I'm wondering if they'll be too tight width wise. If you own these do you find them to be too narrow?

I have the Primas, and I have super-wide feet. I don't find them to be too narrow, they actually stretch quite a bit. Maybe they mean slim-fitting in the sense that you should order a smaller size than you usually wear? I am a 7.5 and the 7 is just right for me. HTH!

I tried on Crocs last fall and was sad to see that they don't fit me, at all. They appear to run very wide as my feet were swimming in them. I have "average to narrow" feet btw. My husband fit the crocs though and loves to use his in the garden or when traveling.

I have a pair of the mary jane crocs in brown and I love them! They're super comfy and I know I'm going to get a lot of mileage out of them this summer when I'm pregnant with big swollen feet. I'll wear these and teva sandals since they're easy to put on and forgiving when my feet swell.

I have these (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2463009&cp=2367454.766034.2691471&view=all&parentPage=family&searchId=2691471)

For those worried about size, I found an online size chart you can print out (to scale of course) that you step on and find your size. I think I found it on the actual crocs webpage though I ordered mine from Dick's Sporting Goods when I had a code and the $10 off through Google which made them $13.99 shipped :D

My Dh got a pair of the regular Cayman sandals in army green last summer and loves them on his super wide feet. My DD has a pair in cotton candy she got last weekend. We've been meaning to take a picture of all of our feet wearing crocs but haven't gotten to it yet!

We've gotten to the point that we don't wear street shoes inside the house anymore, so I wear my Crocs almost like slippers inside the house. If I need to run outside for a second they can be wiped off easily, with no worry about harming leather, suede, etc.

I find that mine are comfey just because they are so roomy. They don't have great arch support etc, but then again, they are plastic shoes!

We wore ours all through Disney and to the airport. Made security a breeze for getting through, no need to untie and tie shoes before leaving the security area, just slip them off and then back on again. In the parks they were great didn't hurt your feet or legs or back after walking around so much. The strap was starting to bug DH on the last day, but he just flipped it forward and was good to go.

I just ordered some Croc-like sandals after trying them on at Nordstroms. They're by Skechers, but I think the material is similar to Crocs. I get blisters even while wearing running shoes, and I'm not a fan of the usual Croc shape, but these won me over, especially for $20!

I have the exact pair posted above. :) I bought them in Vegas in early February, and so far I've worn them about a dozen times - no complaints whatsoever. In fact, I think I may have to buy another pair when I go back to Vegas in June. I bought a black pair - I didn't see the brown ones at the time!

The sizing is pretty accurate, IMO. I wear a ten - I bought a ten without trying them on (had my hands full with DD), and they fit fine. I own a number of pairs of Skechers (I like how inexpensive they are, yet still cute), and they're all tens.

And yes, I have enormous feet. What's it to ya? :p

Well, I wear anything from 8 to 9, and I tried them on in 8.5 and they were just ok (no extra toe room). But they were out of 8.5 so I ordered them in 9. Usually I only get 9 in running shoes, so I'm hoping they'll fit fine.

Btw, if you're thinking of ordering them from skechers.com, here's a $10 off coupon: spring10

I love my crocs. I bought them for work (I'm a nurse), but I will admit to wearing them to run errands. They aren't stylish, but with a 2 1/2 yr and 9 month old in tow I am definately not a fashion goddess most days.

How do crocs work for folks with narrow feet? My feet aren't horribly narrow (I rarely wear a N width, but shoes that run wide don't work on me. I'm tempted to get some crocs, but I'm afraid they'll never work with my feet.

i have heard that if crocs are to wide, you can throw them in the dryer to shrink them a little. i have a friend who did this.

oh, and i love crocs for my kids! they are the best shoe for letting them playoutside. so lightweight, they can get wet, and if they get dirty, just spray them off!

Your feet sound like mine. I ended up just going and trying them on in person and I'm really glad I did because there was NO way I could have worn the clogs. They are really wide. But the mary jane style fit fine, the style is much narrower. I live in mine, the silly looking things really are as comfortable as people say.

I just read this article on webmd. It's on their front page.

Crocs: Healthy Shoes or Just Comfy? (http://diabetes.webmd.com/features/crocs-healthy-shoes-just-comfy)
Do those eye-catching shoes have a place in good foot care? Doctors and consumers share their views.
By Heather Hatfield
WebMD FeatureReviewed by Charlotte Grayson Mathis, MDCrocs -- those clog-like shoes in bright colors -- are an up-and-coming trend on the feet of Americans. The shoe might not match everyone's idea of fashion, but fans swear by its comfort. And Croc lovers say they bring health benefits to the two extremities that carry us all the places we go.

Are Crocs really good for our feet? Or is this footwear phenom just a passing fad? WebMD got some feedback from doctors, consumers, and the shoe's creators.

My BFF and I hate the look of crocs and often joke about them but I bought her some as a joke for christmas and she now swears they are so comfortable, although she still doesnt wear them as much as most. She will however wear them around the house or when we went to the beach she wore them around the hotel and such. I even caught her wearing them to the grocery store! LOL. I still cant do it for myself but I am thinking about ordering the kind without the holes for my BF since he is a salesman and on his feet all day and honestly I'm tired of hearing him complain his feet hurt from dress shoes.

I may also get my mom the cleo ones as she has something very similar that someone brought her from Hawaii that she swears re the most comfortable shoes ever but thye need to see the trash can. anyone tried them? i never realized they had some many other kinds. I am actually liking the flip flop looking ones. anyone tried them?

Unfortunately the Skechers Cali didn't work out for me; I got tremendous blisters and cuts both times I wore them. I'm thinking I should *gasp* try them with (brown) socks on, but I don't think the comfort would be worth wearing socks with sandals, even if they're closed-toe.

I do loooooove my Crocs Capris. I cannot recommend them enough. The.Best.Flip Flops.Ever. Seriously. I bought two paris and I wish I had bought more. I wear them around the house, outside gardening-everywhere really. It was hard to spend that much on flip flops, but it was money well spent.

I think when one refers to Crocs and their dislike in the Crocs look, they are referring to these:

or even these:

And that was what I was commenting on. I don't know a single mom who wears either style of those Crocs. Apparently I should have elaborated.

I really don't like the looks of (the traditional clog) Crocs, and swore I'd never wear them, but I'm on my feet all day, and the sneakers I've been wearing are $123  a pair. They don't seem to stay as comfortable as you'd think $123 sneakers would over time. I've tried so many different pairs, and nothing seems to do it for me.

My dad is an RN and has been wearing Crocs for a year now, and swears by them, so I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair. I have to admit, I still think they're ugly, but my feet were happy all day. I'm considering a pair in another color, but I vow to only wear Crocs at work, with my scrubs. :p

ETA: I got these from the Professional line:

It's funny - My parents gave me a pair for Christmas like 3 years ago. I was like WTH are these?? My parents, by virtue of their location, are in tune with The Crunch and at the time these shoes were really just what the crunchies wore. I never really wore them (and still don't) except to go get the mail or the paper or something from the yard. But then they came out with the kids ones and I think I've bought 5 pairs of those - they are perfect for kids (except for on the playground, etc.)

I personally don't even find them that comfortable, at all.
