NEW YORK -- Gabrielle Union and her husband have separated after four years of marriage.

Union and Chris Howard announced the split in a statement released Monday by Lisa Kussell, the actress' publicist.

"The couple remains close and asks that you respect their privacy at this difficult time," the statement said.

Union, 32, married Howard, a former NFL running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars, in 2001.

Not surprised at all here. She is known to be a bit umm... Shall we say 'high strung' ? I hate to use the b! word. She even admitted herself (in a magazine article) that she has some serious anger issues and is prone to moments of drama.

I worried something was up when she was in ESPN magazine gushing about her "friendship" with another NFL player. How sad--they were such a cute couple.

I was just thinking that same thing. I think it was from someone from WC - If I can recall correctly didn't she say something like "Gabrielle can have him."?

I feel sad for her. Divorce must be so hard. I really like her as an actress.
