Clomid - costs without insurance?

Hi - I am going to be going on Clomid next cycle and it looks like my insurance doesn't cover the costs of this medication (it covers testing and diagnostics but no meds & no treatments for infertility).

If you have been on Clomid & had to pay at the pharmacy, let me know aprox how much it was.

Also - if you know of a discounted pharmacy, I'd be interested in hearing your experiences.

I got my clomid from Costco and it was a lot cheaper than my regular pharmacy. A 5 day supply of 150mg (generic) was around $40.00. The same thing at Safeway pharmacy was $150.00. I'd make sure and get generic since it is a lot less expensive!

I'd start calling pharmacies. I found when I was on clomid different pharmacies would charge different so shop aound and find the best deal. I started on 50mg and it was about 20 dollars then I was upped to 100mg and that was aound $40.

I paid $50.00 for a five day supply at Walgreen's. I think that it was a generic as well.

I've found the chains are way more expensive. Rite Aid and Sav On were the two closest to my home.

Costco and the like are much more reasonable from what I've heard, however, we don't have a membership so I couldn't fill my prescriptions there.

I always ended up buying the generic clomiphene (I bought the brand name on my first round but eighty dollars later I decided to go with the generic) because it was about half the price.

It's been a while -- I can't remember the exact cost of the Clomid but definitely not cheap.

Ultrasound monitoring was covered as a doctor's visit, and the HCG injections were about $75 each.

My 50 mg was $27 at an Albertson's grocery store. The last 3 cycles I've taken 100 mg from Wal Mart and it was $52

Clomid is funny in that as the dosage increases, the price increases. That is because it comes in 50mg tablets, so if you're on 100mg you take 2 pills and 150mg you take 3 pills (per day). When people are saying different prices for different dosages in this thread, take that into consideration with the dosage you'll be on.

I tried 3 pharmacies and called many more, and found Costco to be the absolute cheapest. And clomiphene citrate, the generic, is even cheaper of course. ;) I took the generic, I don't know of any differences between that and the name brand.

You can use the Costco Pharmacy without being a member. I paid $19.89 for 100mg dose for 5 days and $12.46 for 50 mg dose for 5 days.

CVS prices:

50 mg: $30 (around)

100 mg: $56 (and some change)

My insurance doesn't cover any fertility drugs either.:rolleyes:

Just thought I would add - I got 50mg of Clomid (5 tablets) for $26 at my local walgreens... I was expecting $40 but was shocked when it only cost $26

It is not covered my my insurance.
