I need some help.....I want to design a monogram, but I am wondering if it would work for us since we both have an A for the first letter of our name.
Has anyone made a monogram with two of the same letters?
Would it help to add your new last name initial (if you're taking his last name)?

Oh no...:( That is kinda stinky.
Well, our initials are A & A then I will be taking his last name which starts with a P. I really like how P's look in monograms, so maybe I could come up with something neat with two A's and a P.
Thanks for the idea!!
Now I just need to figure out how to make them!!! :D :p

You can put APA with the P larger than the As.

Maybe you could use an ampersand to break up the two A's (A&A)..?

I made up some quick monograms for you to show you that you can make great monograms with a double letter. Just be creative with letter placement and fonts. If you want the files for these, let me know and I can email them to you :)

You could also stick with just the two A's, using a more feminine font for one and a more masculine font for the other. Good luck! :)

Here's an idea: if you choose to use a font where the right side of the A is completely level vertically, like Avalon for example, you could put them next to eachother and flip the second A so that the two vertical "legs" of the A are back to back. I've done that a few times and it looks very nice. This way you don't have to use the P if you don't want to.

Here's a quick pic to show you what I meant. Please excuse the crappy quality of the file, Shutterfly cut half of it off. But I think you get the idea?

Hi, we were designing our invitations and we really loved the look of monograms. Now, towards the beginning of our engagement, we soon realized that if you put his name then our last name then my name our monogram would read as : SOS ha ha!!!! So we are just going with a monogram that has one initial, an O. Why not do just one?

stacyface That is toooo funny!!!!!:p
maplekitty That is so kind of you to make those for me!! I would love to have them.. My email is ajzimm82@yahoo.com. Thanks a bunch!
sublime311 and lml41981 Those are very good ideas, too! Thanks for your input!
Lindsan I really like your idea!!! I will have to experiment more with that.
I like the idea of having the A's being "scripty" or even like the A Lindsan has, with a BOLD, straight P, like Arial.
What programs do you guys use to do that, just Photoshop or something and create differnet text boxes and then move them around?

That's what most use I think...
Maplekitty you may wanna turn on "Anti-Aliasing" it appears the fonts are pixellated, they'll be a lot smoother if you have Anti-Aliasing turned to "Crisp" or some other setting aside from "None" if you're using Photoshop.
Like this...

If you already knew that...just tell me to shut up...LOL. Just wanted to shed some light in case you didn't know what "anti-aliasing" was - tryin' to help!

I have two T's... I did this....

I really like the contrast between the fancy C and the modern font for our names. I am NOT following 'tradition' to not use our monogram before the wedding... this will appear on our programs and other things used throughout the day.
ETA: I did this in Photoshop.... but I did a similar version using Word, it's not QUITE as polished... but it worked

You could always just use a single "A" - this is a monogram that I made for a couple whose names both started with "J"

Both our first names start with J, so we are in the same boat.
We just did JBJ and made the B bigger.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v44/brimfulla/Misc/Monogram.jpg Where can you download boarders like that? I need to look for one for my own monogram stamp, but it's got to be at least 300 dpi so I can't just copy it off the internet I think. Thanks!

I've got a bunch of borders clipboard that's pretty hi-res. Let me know if you want me to send you some I sent you an e-mail through your profile but I never know if these things work. Anyway I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE if you could send me some. I need to create an image to have a stamp like this made:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c142/tlew12778/Lagunabridemonogramgraphic.jpg
basically in the exact same style (or grape vinse would be better actually) if you have anything like that. Thanks again!

Wow, some of you are just so talented!
I tried, and cannot figure out how to use photoshop to make a monogram for us... :(
I am wonering how I could go about maybe paying someone to make some for me? I would assume that I would ask someone to make some for me to choose from, and then they would show them to me, and could I then maybe ask them to make changes on one if I liked everything about it except maybe wanted something a little different? How much would I pay someone anyways?
I think I want some thing like lil Geek posted:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b312/ajzimm82/0e86a557.jpg
as well as something like with a bold P, with two cursive A's, diagonally up and down from the P. I sort of like the border idea, but i think I would go for something more non-traditional, and have it be more modern. If that makes sense? LOL
I am going to look online to see if I can find like a monogram idea site or something....
:)
