View Full Version : Dog put to sleep-feeling sad

I just found out today that FIL & MIL dog was put to sleep on Thursday. They weren't going to tell us yet. I feel so sad. He was only three years old. He was the sweetest pit bull ever (the only one I've know-so he has to be the sweetest:). He nipped at their neighbor and she had to make a police report and then they couldn't get home insurance. They've worked so had with him to keep him calm and not an angry dog. He was only ever on leash outside. I had just taught him to put a treat on his nose and not to eat it until I told him he could. He loved "ice" bones and sitting on laps. I feel so bad for him and for MIL & FIL. Thanks for listening.:(

Thank you...the neighbor felt really bad, too. She didn't want the dog put to sleep, either. Everyone lost in this case.

Wow, I'm so sorry, SwaneeK! I know that must be really sad for you. One of my friends in HS had a pitt bull that was the sweetest dog ever. :(

I am so sorry! That is so sad! It is sad that we have policies that discriminate against a breed in general.

Thank you. He was so sweet. He even put himself to bed when it was time (he'd go in his kennel and go to sleep). When the doorbell would sound on tv, he'd bark at it and go so who was at the door. My eyes are so puffy today. We are going over to FIL & MIL for dinner. It's going to be even harder.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I just had my put my doggie down about a week and 1/2 ago. It's hard I know! God Bless!!! :(

I have a pit mix and she is the BEST dog, it breaks my heart that they get such a bad rap. Its just wrong, my heart aches for your family.

:( So sorry to hear about your family's dog. Makes me very upset that large breed dogs who nip are punished and little "rat" dogs who nip are not! We have a lab puppy and I get very nervous when he playfully nips as I do not want anyone injured as well as anyone to take us to court for it. I am thinking of you during this sad time.
