How long was your house on the market before you had a showing? Our agent came and took pictures tonight and put the sign in our yard, but our house wasn't going to be on the market officially until first thing in the morning (she put the sign out at 5:30pm and left at 6:15pm to upload photos and get everything on the system so that it would be ready and on the website at 9am). She called me at 6:45pm and said there were people in my driveway wanting to see the house. We were really worried our house wouldn't sell fast and we weren't expecting any showings, really, until the weekend.

So, I guess our house was on the market -14.25 hours...

Well, we just went through this process. The realtor came to our house on a Wednesday night to sign the papers and then Thursday morning her and her husband came over to take pictures for the MLS listing and put up the sign. Friday afternoon we had one showing and Saturday we had 3 showings and I think Sunday we had a few showings.
(We had gone out of town Friday night and came home to messages from the realtors so that is how we knew for sure).

Oddly enough, the first person who saw the house Friday made the offer Saturday and we verbally accepted that same day. So, I guess the house was officially on the market 1 day before showings took place and two days before the offer came in.

I should note that my realtor didn't do open houses...only because the market didn't warrant it. The avergae time a home was on market was 12 days...not too bad.

PS - LML, where did you get your bedspread in your master bedroom (I was you posted in the bedroom thread and really liked it)

Wow, I hope we have an offer as fast as you did!

I got our bedspread at Target, actually. It is from their Fieldcrest line...and I got it because DD pooped on our old one, which wouldn't fit in our washing machine. That one is a duvet. :)

The house we bought was on the market less than 5 days. We put an offer in on it Friday night and put the condition in that they must accept it before they had a scheduled open house the next day at 12. The counteroffered for about $2k more than what we offered - which was fine with us - our offer was below list price and their counter offer was still below list price. It really worked in our favor...apparently they had 3 couples that were interested in the house at the open house ;) We weren't interested in a bidding war, so I'm glad that we got the house before the open house!! :D

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our 600+ sq ft condo we bought was on the market as of 12/4. Four couples besides ourselves looked at it...we put a bid in on Thursday, 12/16, and it was accepted 12/18. And that was a wee little place.

My cousin's house was sold w/in 2 weeks -a rancher, in town, with a lawn.

Blink and you'll miss some of these places!

Our townhouse was on the market a little over a week, IIRC, before we had a showing. That weekend we had an offer, but that fell through since apparently the husband had gotten arrested (of couse, this was before Ernest Money ran out, but maybe next time we should put that in the contingency;)), and we had a backup offer through in the next couple days. Went to closing about 5-6 weeks after we put it on the market.

Our house was on the market a little over a day. Listed on Oct 3, Monday night, got offers on Tuesday. We accepted on Wednesday. It went a lot quicker than I thought.

We still spent the entire week out of the house just because of the constant stream of people coming through.

(And the real reason, we're both too messy and with 2 cats. It was more stressful to stay than leave and constantly worry about picking up or having one of the cats run outside.)

Good luck!

It was about 72 hours before we had our first showing (to be fair, a showing that had been scheduled for about 48 hours after we listed was canceled - but I don't count that!). We were VERY surprised at this, esp. considering our house was the lowest priced house in the neighborhood and b/c our region has been listed among the top three fastest growing real estate sectors in the country.

Our house was on the market for 2.5 weeks and in that time we had a total of six visitors with four of them expressing interest (alll but one came back twice) and two putting in offers. We got our asking price so we don't have anything to complain about. But we were nervous!

We had a full-asking price offer on my townhouse within an hour of the listing being posted on the REIN and the sign in the yard. I should have waited, because LOTS of people came after that to see the house and were interested in putting in an offer... and the woman who's offer I accepted was MISERABLE to deal with. But, *sigh* that's all over now.

Our realtor showed the house before it officially hit the market. It took about 3 weeks to sell.

We bought the house we're in now four days after it went on the market. I'm very glad we didn't miss it. :)

Sigh, I am jealous. We had an offer on our house 30 days after it went on the market, but it fell through.

So we havebeen back on the market for 2 weeks now with a ton of showings and everyone saying that we have the best house in the neighborhood, but no offers. So it's been 2 months now on the market :(.

This sucks!

DH and I found a home last Friday night that had gone on the market 6 days prior. We put in an offer yesterday morning and are now waiting for an answer.
