I am lactose intolerant and have always taken the Kirkland (Costco) brand of lactase with no problem but lately they do not seem to be working, I have even started taking two at a time and no luck. I need advice, what is a girl to do without dairy????? Anyone know what would cause this sudden change? I know when I was pregnant my body was more tolerant and sometimes I didn't even have to take the pills but after my son was born it went back to the way it was until now (2 years later).

You've probably just built up a tolerance to something in that brand... I would try another. My best GF takes CVS brand.

I take Lactaid Fast Act and it is the best lactase I have ever tried. They are a little pricey compared to the other stuff, but so worth it because it has more lactase than regular Lactaid or something comparable!
I used to have the same problem where I would take 1 or 2 pills of regular strength Lactaid and they wouldn't work! :o

Thank you Ladies for the suggestions. I will definitely try some other brands including the brand name. I have to admit though I am skeptical because the one I use and the FastAct both have 9000 units of lactase:confused: .
I really hope it works though!!!!

Ditto for lactaid. Also, do you only take the pill before having dairy or do you take it everyday? There is a brand out now that you take everyday. May I suggest you try that one. I have found that my level of intolerance is elevated when I eat ice cream or have milk (which I NEVER do anymore - except lactaid milk). If I have cheese or a few other things I am okay. Perhaps your level fluctuates based on what you eat. GOOD LUCK!

Yipee for FastAct. I still had a little bit of stomach cramping but it was nothing compared to the way I double over and can't walk with my normal intolerance reaction.
I normally just take them when I eat dairy but I am curious to try the new ones you take everyday.
