The weatherman on the radio said we could see flurries tomorrow (central Ohio)!

Is it me, or did it just get REALLY cold REALLY quickly?!

we're the only major city in the whole of Canada that doesn't see major snowfall every year.
AAhhhh...I love Vancouver! ;)

Flurries in central Ohio??!! NOOO!

It has been *so* cold out lately. I hate it. I almost cried when I put my winter coat on this morning.

I got my gloves out. I've had my coat and scarf out since last week. I have my knitted hat with ear-flaps on right now! My ears always get cold at night (even when I have the furnace on).

I've had my coat and scarf out since last week.
Oh, I was being stubborn. Since we have an attached garage and my parking spot is about 10 feet from the door of my office building, I'm only outside for a few seconds in the morning and evening. My suits have been warm enough to keep me warm...until this morning.

I haven't even turned on the heat in my house yet, that's how in denial I've been. I'm sitting here bundled up in a sweatshirt, sweatpants and fuzzy slippers.

It's even cold way down here in Houston!!! Ok, lows in the 40s highs in the 70s but when it was nearly 100 about 2 weeks ago, this is frickin' freezing, Mr. Bigglesworth!

Heh! I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking it's cold here! ;) My husband is laughing his arse off at me because I'm sitting here in his huge Homer Simpson house shoes right now b/c I can NOT get my feet warm! I can't believe how fast I got used to the warm weather down here, b/c I grew up in the cold!

Sunday, before Wilma, it was 95 degress with about 95% humidity. Seriously, I was choking on the air. Today, it didn't get above 70. It's heavenly!
But I would so love some snow.

emmjay

We had snow a couple of weeks ago (it didn't stick).

It's been in the 30s-40s in the mornings, which is NOT FUN when you ride a scooter to work. I have ridden the scooter at 25° but I wouldn't want to go much lower than that. Anyway, lately it's been 35° or lower in the morning and around 75° in the afternoon. It's hard to dress for 40-degree temperature shifts!

I'm still trying to figure out what happened to fall, my favorite season! :( I hate it when late summer transitions into winter in like two days or something. Poo! :(

It's currently about 35 here. So snow certainly isn't out of the possibility in a few days, I suppose.

Me neither! I'm not turning it on until November! I know the gas bill is going to be sky-high until March/April as soon as it comes on! It's 59 degrees in here. In the evening--I wear my PJ's with a flannel shirt on top and sweats, socks and slippers and a hat with ear flaps or ear-muffs. Make a rice-bag warmer. They work quite well, but have to be microwaved every hour.

Right now, the driveway is drying up and the sun is coming up over the hill! :D

How do you know it's the end of good weather? When you have to warm your car up in the morning. :(

It has been steadily cold in the mornings for the past week here, as well as cold in the evenings. But I refuse to turn the heat on yet. So I took the comforter out and have been walking around the house in long sleeve shirts, pants, and socks. So far it actually hasn't been so bad. Our upstairs rooms actually stay pretty warm, even in the evenings.

Oh, and DH and I were so much in denial, we just took the A/C out of our bedroom window this past Sunday.

Snow in Central Ohio?!?! This soon? NOOO! Which weather forcaster said this?

I can't deal with snow this early...fall hasn't been around long enough! And here I was excited to see the sun this morning.

*sniffle*

We gt crushed. No power since 9:00pm last night. All my trees -- my big beautiful trees -- are all gone. Snapped at the trunks. The ice came first, then 7 to 9 inches of wet heavy snow. We have a 400 yard long driveway lined with old, old, old apple trees....they are all gone now...just snapped in half.

Its bad enough winter is here, but its a real kick in the arse when she arrives so fiercely.

Nothing here in the Boston area.

I'd better contact the ILs though, since they live near Fuzzy.

Di,

Fuzzyhubby said that in town, it was fine -- a totally different place. It was really bad on hilltops, where we live. If your ILs are at a higher elevation, then give 'em a call. If not, they should be fine.

Iris, I live in upstate NY near Saratoga Springs (but not in Saratoga) We are the foothills of the Adirondack mountains. I agree with whomever said the rain sucked worse though, it really killed our view (We're up on a hill and usually have a kick a$$ view)- since it made the Fall colors blah.

Fuzzy -I'm so sorry:( A few years ago we had an ice storm and a 200 year old house in my neighborhood lost all their original trees:(

We wound up with only an inch or so and it is melting, but the forecasters were predicting 4-8 inches. Don't you hate how chipper they sound when predicting snow (or hurricanes). Then when it turns out to not be as bad as they predicited you can hear the disappointment in their voices.

Don't be--it's one thing to like the idea of snow and to look at it, it's another to live in it. (Coming from a CA native who hates being cold)

It is snowing in the NW corner of Connecticut....and *may* be heading our way. Geez! Way to ruin Halloween for the kiddies.

I don't even have leaves raked up yet, as it has been raining so much! Argh.

I have broken down and put on the heat, however. Just in the a.m. when it's like 45-50 degrees in here. It definitely warms up during the day when (or should I say IF) the sun comes out. Our house is big, old, and drafty. I always vow to not turn heat on until November, but I was turning PURPLE in the morning, it was so cold!

Its snowed a couple times already this year but this is the first time it has stuck to the ground. Usually we start getting snow that sticks around the first to mid November, so not to early but still, I'm just not ready for it. I'm in Utah BTW and we have already got people going up the mountains to ski and snowboard.

It was 77 here in Southern Ontario today, which is crazy warm for this time of year. Not only have we not had snow (yeah!) there are still green leaves on the trees! We don't usually get snow that stays until late November/early December but if we keep going like this it could be January (oh a 3 month winter would be fabulous). Of course in January it will snow Every. Single. Day. It's actually worse for it to be warm so late becuae this means the lake will probably not freeze and we will get a ton of lake effect snow, we had 10 foot drifts last year, it was not fun.

Two of our local ski resorts have opened already as well - actually Arapahoe Basin opened on 10/10 and was the first in the country, and they don't usually close until June! It's amazing to me that they are open for 8 months a year.

I would LOVE to see some cooler weather right now. This afternoon it was in the 80's with 40mph Santa Ana winds. There's a massive fire about 40 miles east of me, and with the strong winds the smoke has made it all the way to the beach. My apartment smells like a campfire and every time I go outside my eyes start burning! Send the snow this way!!!

The news tonight about a cool front was all excited that we'll soon be seeing cooler temperatures! Yeah, that means, only 84 for a high, and chilly 69 for a low. At 11pm, it's still 78 outside. Blech.

Seriously, can we do a rain dance or something? The sun was blocked out by the smoke and ash at 3 pm today. We're relatively close to a couple of the fires though. Also lost a couple trees because of the high winds. I'm so ready for fall/winter!

In upstate NY, we usually see a few flurries by November. Last weekend, they said that there was a chance of some a little further north...that day turned out to be about 70. Today's high is going to be 77, which is unseasonably warm for around here. Although I love it, it would be nice for the weather to get cooler by thanksgiving-I would love for the holidays to feel like "The Holidays".

Thanks for bumping this up, imagirliegirl! I was searching for it yesterday but was looking under "snow" not "snowing" (apparently) and couldn't find it.

Anyway, yesterday we (northern MA) had flurries all morning, from about 9 to noon (IIRC). It was wet snow but it stuck to the grass a bit. My DD was so excited last night, kept asking if she could touch the snow - and of course I said yes!

I can only imagine! My friend moved from SF to Cheyenne (I think that's where the U is?) for two years and hated it the first year--then she really started to like it. But she was ready to come home when her program was done. The photos she sent me were incredibly beautiful, but from the city to the country was a big stretch for her.
