Hello,

My boyfriend came home last night and told me he's invited 6 people from high schoolfor dinner on Saturday night. Now I'm always up for a get together, but it's a rather unusual group of people. I have two men coming who love their meat (you know meat, potatoes and beer type), and two vegetarians. I know this may sound silly but I wanted to find a way to make the menu sort of look like they go together. For example, I think I am going to make a large Teryaki salmon for the men, but then I wanted a vegetarian option that if the men wanted to have some too, they could. With the salmon, I thought I'd do either risotto or potatoes and then a big green salad and some nice homemade buns. So does anyone have an idea for the veggie option?

Could you find a recipie where you can do the same treatment for a piece of meat and for a portabello mushroom? It might not work with you teriyaki plan, but there are many recipes that work for both.

Hmm...that's an interesting idea. Even still doing the salmon, and portabello mushrooms grilled in some fashion would work. I was thinking how awkward it would be to have the salmon and like a curry couscous or something.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I would say some type of pasta - eggplant parmesan, veggie lasagna, etc. Actually, I probably wouldn't do the salmon b/c it doesn't flow as well as other things would, such as: similar to what the PP suggested, grill some meat and also grill some portabella mushrooms or something, or you could do eggplant parmesan and chicken/veal parm, or something like that.
