Janet Jackson's former brother-in-law, Young DeBarge told hip hop radio station Hot 97 that Janet has a secret 18-year-old daughter with his brother James. They were briefly married in 1984, but had an annullment the following year.

"James and the Jackson family kept everything real close, real tight," Young DeBarge said. "No one really knew how it was working out until things kind of surfaced."

During the interview, Young said Jackson and his brother, a former member of another Motown group are the parents of "Renee," who was sent away to live with Janet's oldest brother Rebbie.

Janet Jackson's rep Patti Webster didn't deny the claim yesterday, only saying the singer didn't wish to comment. And the young woman is not happy about her star mom's refusal to acknowledge her, the uncle said.

"I think there's a little despondence," DeBarge said when asked about Renee's feelings for Jackson.

"She hasn't really revealed that, but I'm sure that there's some feelings there. It's only natural that you wonder about what is and how it's come to be that way."


This is pretty explosive if it's true.

Hmmmm, I wouldn't doubt it. Janet Jackson is a strange lady......so is the whole Jackson family so this really doesn't shock me.

Well, first off I heard that she has 2 children, one by James DeBarge and one by Rene. Many, many years ago.

But what amazes me is that even though they are now 'leaking' the story, they still can't get the timeline right, so maybe this may just be a rumor after all. She and James were together for a while back in 1984/1985 then the daughter would have to be 21. So, I dunno...

yeah, she was married to rene elizondo. i looked it up and it was from 1991-2000. from what i remember, it all came out when they had to file for divorce.

Janet Jackson says she is not a mother. In a terse statement released Wednesday, the 39-year-old singer denied a former brother-in-law's claim that she has a "secret" 18-year-old daughter.

"I do not have a child and all allegations saying so are false," Jackson said in a statement released to the syndicated "Access Hollywood" TV show.

A call to Jackson's publicist by The Associated Press Wednesday wasn't immediately returned.

On Friday, Young DeBarge, the brother of Jackson's ex-husband, James DeBarge, said Jackson and his brother had a child named Renee that was living with Rebbie Jackson, Janet's oldest sister.

"James and the Jackson family kept everything real close, real tight," Young DeBarge said on New York radio station WQHT, known as Hot 97.

Jackson and James DeBarge, a singer in the former R&B family group DeBarge, were married for three months in 1984, when Jackson was just 18.

Jackson secretly married Rene Elizondo Jr. in 1991. They separated in 1999. She is now dating Jermaine Dupri.

Young DeBarge, 28, is promoting his debut album.

Extra (or was it ET) reported a few nights ago that the alleged 'picture' of Janet's daughter, is actually a daughter of one of the older Jackson Brothers. (don't remember which one.) The picture was taken from an interview that the girl did about Michael's molestation trial. It is definately not a picture of a secret 'Janet' love-child.

I watched ET last night. She is denying all allegations of her having any chldren. They showed some recent pics of her w/ JD and she has been gaining some weight lately. (or atleast it looked like it in the shots they had)

No -- "Extra" dug deep, and we discovered that the woman is actually Brandy Jackson, Jackie Jackson's daughter. The picture was taken from an interview she did with ABC's "20/20" during her Uncle Michael's trial.
