Our cats will only use the same self cleaning litter box; this worked out fine when they were kittens, but lately it's just gross! The receptacle is filled every other day and they are out of clean litter in three days due to scattering! I tried the two litter box thing, but it didn't work because, of course, they have to go in the same litter box  Even if I bought another self cleaning one they would both use the one! I am thinking of putting the crystal litter in the regular litter box to see if it will help  I know they say a box for each cat and we do have two regular boxes as well as the litter maid self cleaning one that they use. Does anyone have suggestions? What about the crystal litter idea for the regular box? Help!

We have the same problem. :( We just suck it up & clean the stupid littermaid every day.

I clean the (non-littermaid) box twice a day. I don't really see any other way around it.

You're lucky that they're sharing. One of ours has been locked in the bathroom over a month now, and on Prozac for a week, as we try to deal with her refusal to use the box.

If the smell is abnormally bad, I would talk to the vet. It could signal digestive problems. The one we have locked up had ungodly odor when she used the box, and she's now on prescription food for colitis, and the smell is much easier to bear.

Ok, I guess I don't have it so bad. It's not the smell, but rather the sheer amount between the two of them!!

I feel your pain. Well, Kroy feels your pain! We have three, but luckily for me, litter box cleaning is his department. I'm Creative Director of Kitchens and Laundry. :D
