Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Polkadot and Sabriel!
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistress would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if I get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Wow! It seems like so many women that were in this thread when I first joined are getting pregnant! I am so happy for them, yet so jealous. Sigh.
Here I sit just waiting to O. I have had EWCM for 11 days in a row now. There is no question as to whether it is actually fertile CM, (TMI alert), because I am so wet that if I do not wear a pantyliner, I get a visible wet spot on my pants. It looks like I have peed myself! Has anyone else ever had fertile CM for this long? I have already stopped drinking green tea and the stuff keeps coming so we keep BD. I need a break!

This is the end of our second month TTC and I am getting BFN from Answer tests and of course did not chart this month thinking I should relax and I have no idea whats going on - my period should arrive today, maybe tommorrow.
Anyone use the early response ANSWER test before?

almostthere Answer Early's do fine in detecting pregnancy early but they, along with First Response Early's (FRER), have developed a bad habit of "disappearing positives" which are really BFNs. Check out the full story at peeonastick.com (http://www.peeonastick.com/issues.html). This site is also very awesome to help pick a brand of HPT. They give reviews and pics of BFPs.

We have decided to begin TTC in Jan 05 so i thought I would get a head start with charting. I bought a basal digital the thermometer. I also bought (and have started reading) "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler, MPH. I am wondering why they never taught this in health class. I had no idea that there was so much involved. I can't believe I knew so little about my fertility and I am in the health profession. It is an amazing book.
Anyway even though I have read that you shouldn't start charting till you have TOM i decided to start this morning just to get used to all the "evaluating" techniques. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything that you wished you had know when you first started charting?
I look forward to getting to know all of you.

COngrats to all who have O'd and good luck to all who are going to be testing.
Welcome Deanna
As for me I am 7DPO and wasn't able to temp on time today because we were out of town for a wedding and I forgot my thermometer. I have NO symptoms whatsoever. CM has cleared up and nothing is going on. I am starting to be very negative about this cycle. I said I was going to test on the 27th when I would be 11DPO but I think I might skip it. I just don't want to see a BFN.

Thanks, Soulmate. DH is actually feeling better so we have a "date" planned for tonight. Funny story about his being sick: he went to buy some cough medicine for himself while I was at work yesterday. When I got home he showed it to me. It was Robitussin! I never even told him about that stuff! He said he was researching stuff on the internet and read that it might help us, so he bought it! So sweet!
ETA: My CM is a LOT more watery today than it has been this cycle. I'm excited that my body seems to be doing what it's supposed to do.

Thanks SO much for all the well-wishes and congratulations. I really really appreciate it. I've graduated myself but I'll still be around. I am so nervous and hesitant about this, because it just doesn't seem real yet. Hopefully I can get into the doc next week and I'll feel better about things. :)
By the way, in case anyone was wondering.... we honestly didn't do anything different this month. As a matter of fact, this was the worst month for us timing-wise because my O was delayed. The only time around O that we BD'd were 2 and 3 days prior. I really did not expect anything to happen at all. God works in mysterious ways I suppose. :)

I have a question. If your LP is normally 14 days, then you will get AF 14 days from the day you o'd right? Your LP never changes, correct? I'm asking this because I o'd earlier this month and I was supposed to be due for AF on the 1st of Nov. I'm getting a little confused here.
jesseybell
10-23-2005, 04:17 PM
dotsie - it is my understanding that your LP can change. "Normal" is 14 days. My doctor on Thursday told me not to worry too much if it isn't 14 days...As I write this I am thinking that I am experiencing cramps, which if I get AF tomorrow then my LP will be 12 days this month.
Sabriel
10-23-2005, 04:45 PM
Dotsie I used to think that your LP should always stay the same, but in my experience it can fluctuate some. My LP has been as long as 14 days and as short as 10 days. Typically, it seems to be 11 or 12 days. Hope that helps!
MichelleRenee Glad your DH is feeling better! Even more so that you can get some BDing in before O!!!
CTs_Punkin Hope your Dr.'s appointment leads you to some answers!

Dotsie- your LP should be generally the same, mine has been 13, 12, and 15 days. I would think anything after the 18 days that FF reccomends is a sure sign....hoep that helps...

Thank you to Sabriel and Polkadot for being our new threadmistresses! I know you will do a wonderful job but I hope it is a post that you don't do for long!
Dotsie--your LP may not be 14 days, it varies from person to person. However long it is for you, it should not vary that much from month to month. That said, mine has been anywhere from 11-15 days but that may be from user-error on my part as I was learning to chart.
Welcome to Deanna and Neenbean! Hope your stay is short and sweet.
Temp dropped .3 degrees today. Not below coverline but lower than it's been for most of my LP. I expect it to go below coverline tomorrow. Home from work tomorrow due to Hurricane Wilma so at least I can be upset on my own. I broke down in tears at dinner last night b/c I really don't think I'm PG this cycle and it just brought back the pain of losing our last pregnancy. DH was completely supportive and said all the right things. I never expected TTC to be so emotional, I never expected to get so upset by people asking me when we were going to start having kids, and I never expected to be so jealous of other's good fortune of getting pregnant quickly (not that I would wish this on anyone--but jealous just the same).
polkadot
10-23-2005, 04:52 PM
Gator- try not tot get too upset...you never know....your temp is not below the coverline and she hasnt shown yet.....DONT GIVE UP:D :D :D

Gator - Big hugs to you! TTC is emotional on a completely different level....it's tiresome, but at the same there's always that little lasting piece of hope each and every month. I completely understand your frustrations- and jealousy.
According to FF I am 8DPO-- I'm not going to call it, because the chances of me getting AF soon is high-- and why waste the energy? But how freakin' excited am I that I seemed to have O'd on my own?!!! :p I feel like calling up my Dr and shouting BOOO-YAAAH to him on the phone. Hee. I'm ho ping for one of two things-- either I'm pregnant (obviously my number #1 choice) or that my LP is longer than it was a couple of months ago...

flygirl - I saw you on another thread.I am so sorry.
AF just arrived a little bit ago. I am disappointed, but since it was my first month, I am not going to dwell on it. Now I need to call the doctor in the morning to schedule my HSG. I am glad there was just talk about LP because mine looked to be 11 days this month. Another month of charting here I come - the practice is good. I didn't temp this morning. I had woken up at 4:30 and turned off my 6:45 alarm because I wouldn't have gotten my 3 hours and I slept until 8:00.
Threadmistress, please change me to 'Waiting to O'
So since I got AF at 7:00 pm, tomorrow is Day 1, right?

10-23-2005, 06:22 PM
So I have another question about LP - I was thinking about this this morning! My past 2 cycles have each had an 8 day LP - if most HPT need about 11 days (or more) to detect a BFP, would that mean that if I go past my 8 days I **should** be preggo? Is it weird that I have such a short LP, or am I am thinking about this correctly?

My past 2 cycles have each had an 8 day LP - if most HPT need about 11 days (or more) to detect a BFP, would that mean that if I go past my 8 days I **should** be preggo? Is it weird that I have such a short LP, or am I am thinking about this correctly?
I will disclaim this as always "I'm no expert"....many of you other girls are far more knowledgable than me about the charting....
BUT, because I was looking into this as well, I'll say that I believe if you go two days longer than YOUR normal LP and still no AF ---- the chances of you being PG are very high. :D

Thank you so much for the response! This is what I thought, too! DH was asking when I would test, and I told him I should know by the end of next week... compared to when people usually test we thought that was rather quick.

Flygirl- so sorry...hugs and prayers to you. You do sound like you have a very positive outlook. I hope you get your BFP again very soon....we are here for you....
Nuhmah- my avg LP is 12 but last month went to 14...it made me crazy....i really thought i would see a BFp...but nope, no such luck....i hope you get your BFp very soon....and about the short LP...i read on FF that if your avg. LP is shorter than 10 days that it could not give the egg enough time to implant....but then again...crazier things have happened...do you have FF VIP....if not let me know and maybe i can research it for you.....Good luck....

thanks... now you tell me. ;) :p I did run off and research some websites... the ideal LP is 14 days long (basically, anything over 10 is desirable). I am hoping that because I have only had a couple of cycles off the pill that things might sort themselves out. My first cycle was 33 days, and then last month was 27. Who knows!?
Apparently, it is a really easy fix (if it truly is a problem), and some doctors even just suggest taking a Vitamin B6 supplement instead of a fertilty drug like Clomid. I will wait and see what happens, and if I have another short LP this cycle I will call my doctor's office. I am just about due for a yearly check-up anyway. :o

Flygirl, I am so sorry. {{{HUGS}}}
Well, DH was feeling well enough to BD tonight. Since he bought me the Robitussin I decided to take some just for the heck of it. I have been a little nauseous since I took it, so I don't think I will take it again unless I have to. I am actually a *little* glad it made me nauseous because I have been waiting to try out some anti-nausea things, like smelling/sucking on peppermint. It worked this time! I had been nauseous for a couple hours.... very slightly nauseous, but enough to annoy me. It went away right away. Hopefully this will be helpful when I have m/s.
Good luck to everyone this week!

Still waiting to O here. We were out of town, so I didn't temp this morning and couldn't take an OPK yesterday. This afternoon's OPK was -, and I am just now starting to get the beginning of fertile CM, so I don't think I have O'd yet. I am not due to O for a few days anyway, so just hanging out and BDing!

8DPO. Last night my bb's were just a teeny bit sore and I had cramping. Not major AF cramping but cramping like I had when I was PG. Trying not to put too much stock in it, I keep thinking that it's probably FPS. I am going to Walmart today and buying some equate and the CBE digital. I'm going to tell my DH to hide them until Thursday morning. I can't wait to test but I'm so scared to test at the same time.
GOod Luck to everyone else!!

My temp went way up this morning, so I re-tested and got a MUCH darker BFP. However, I've had some reddish spotting. No cramping or anything yet, just spotting. I'm going to try to get into the doc today.

klav- a dip at 6 DPO CAN be a good thing. . . for all fairness, it can also be nothing but it could be a nice implantation dip. And holy steady temps, batman.
Dotsie--hope those are RPS!
Lizard- the fact that your temp went way up today is a very good sign. Some spotting in the first trimester is very normal. I would get into the dr. for piece of mind though.

So here's my deal-- I am feeling a little crampy today, but at the same time I feel like my breasts are extremely bruised. They are SUPER swollen (I look like I grew an entire cup size) and (TMI alert) my nipples are gigantic! Wrighty... that sounds good!!
Don't have time to talk right now, but my nurse called me ALREADY with my results (this place is fast).... beta was 107.8 and progesterone was 19.2. Both of those are great. She said because I'm so early, the spotting could have been nothing or maybe residual from implantation. I'm FORCING myself to not worry about it, especially since it's stopped now.
Normally she'd have me back in for a repeat beta on Wednesday, but we're going out of town for DH's uncle's funeral tomorrow through Thursday. I'm supposed to call her Friday and let her know how I'm feeling and if I've had more spotting... she'll do a repeat beta then if necessary.
On that note, I just wanted to CHEER FOR CHARTING because had I not known that I ovulated late this month, I would have been totally confused about not only AF, but also my beta levels because I'd think I was further along than I really am. Charting is such a great thing!!
Have a great day ladies... and I think I can officially drop off some BABYDUST!!!

So I posted a question on the boards at FF, and a few have looked at my chart and are wondering if maybe I O'ed earlier than FF is telling me? Last month I thought I had O'ed, and then it called it a few days later and adjusted my chart. If I am truly O'ing earlier than anticipated I have a "norma" LP. So, I guess it is off to talk to my Dr!

nuhmah- i think i am havin the same prob. FF always calls my O the day after i think i really o'ed. Like if you look at my chart now....i think i oed yesterday but my temp didnt go up enough this morning for FF to recognize it....b/c if i put in four more high temps it makes my O today and not yesterday. I even took an OPk and it was neg today so that really makes me think i oe'd yesterday.
I know i shouldnt complain b/c at least i know i am oing but...i wish it was clear...with a good thermal shift.
hope you get some clear answers in the next few days:confused:

Congrats to all the BFPs!
While I am not actively charting this month, I'm pretty sure I O'ed on day 18th, so I put in some temps to give me the cross hairs there and have been temping since just to get an idea of what's going on. If you are looking at my chart and wondering why it looks so weird, that's why. Timing was good this month so I will be temping for the next week or so to see how it goes. Not going to test until next week or so if AF holds off that long.

Wow - I missed the closing out of the last thread - just stumbled in here. I'm at 10 DPO. One more week 'til testing time! :D
Luteal Phases - Seems like there were a couple questions in here about LPs. My LP fluctuates from 12-16 days. For awhile it was usually 11-12 days and then all of sudden it jumped to 15-16 days. Made for a fun couple of months there were I really thought I might be pg, only to be disappointed. :( Typically, your LP will be about the same every month but if it suddenly goes longer, it isn't necessary a precursor to a BFP. I've also read that LPs less than 10 days aren't long enough for eggs to implant. There are holistic remedies that you can look into to lengthen it, as well as medicines.
Wrighty26

Good to know :) At this point I can take all of the FPS and RPS I can get!

Dotsie
10-24-2005, 04:35 PM
oh yeah, when you're pg your nipples will become very dark and the size of saucers...I"m not kidding. When I was pg with my DS I was positive that I would never had "normal" looking bb's again. They do go back to normal..somewhat. Pregnancy does a number on your body. If you have nice bb's now, remember them like that because they will never look like that again. Especially if you breastfeed.
Polkadot BD BD. Even if you have O'd already. Good Luck in catching that eggie!!! Thanks for looking at my chart and keeping my hopes up :)
katmg thanks for helping me out with the lp thing. My best friend and I are on the exact same cycle and are TTC right now and she was asking me the very same questions that I had. I knew you ladies would have the answers ;)
Bellefior I hope you are successful this month!!
I bought equates and cbe digi today. It's going to be really hard not to test tomorrow with FMU. I'm still having the same crampy feeling before. They're not like AF pains but the pains you get when you're pg and your uterus is stretching. Oh and my nipples are a sore as well. I guess I'll know in a few days.
Good Luck everyone!!!

I feel out of the game with you other 2WWers.
I have no FPS or RPS. At least not that I know of. I marked my chart with cramps a couple days but they were so short, not the hour long things I've heard about implanation pain. Just sharp little pricks a few times here and there.
And that's the best FPS I can muster up!!
I'm probably doomed for a BFN but we'll keep hoping my temp. stays up.

Welcome LindyBug!
I remember the weekend DH and I had "the talk" - it was both scary and exciting. It was totally an OMG moment. :) To make things worse, I was driving, and we were headed to Seattle.
- - - - - - - -
Temps went back up this morning... I have been looking at my charts and wondering if I O'ed back on CD 17 (instead of CD 19). If nothing happens this cycle, we are defenitely seeing the Doc.
Delaney - I don't clean mine, either. Its only me using it, and I put it back in its little case and put it in the nightstand when I am finished.
Welcome linny and lindy!
Lindy--you are SO right that it is exciting and scary at the same time. I don't think that changes even as you continue TTC!
Michelle--I agree that you O'd Sunday, particularly with today's temp. And you DID BD the day of O, so you still have a chance! And YAY for EWCM. I totally understand how exciting that is. I think I posted almost the same thing when I found mine for the first time.
Wrighty--Meant to say this before, but YAY for Oing! And the chart's looking pretty nice! Did the big nips go away? And good for you for deciding on a course of action. Must be empowering!
Dotsie--Fingers crossed for you! Being patient is totally overrated! Sorry for the BFN today, though.
Hula--At least you don't have an overactive imagination like some of us  (myself included!)... And I've read a lot of what shouldaeloped said.
ABirney--Fingers crossed that that truly is an O for you...you deserve it for being so patient over such a LOOOONG cycle.
Delaney--Count me in as another one who never thought about cleaning the therm.
nuhmah--As I have said before, your chart has me TOTALLY perplexed! Let's just hope that however confusing it is, the end result is clearly positive!!

I am confused... FF changed my O date several times this week  Now I am only 3 days past O and we BD'd on O-1... And I spotted today. We aren't supposed to be trying this month, so I am completely freaked. Though we would be psyched. :)
My problem is that I have a hard time temping at the same time every day. With DD waking occasionally, drinking too much water, and DH stealing the covers, I am awake at all different hours, so it throws my temp off... Ugh.
Suggestions?
eta: Welcome Linny and Lindy
neen--I'm seeing all solid dots on your chart...are you not indicating at what time you're taking your temp? I think that would help you to see how much it fluctuates based on circumstances. The you can tweak as necessary to get a more realistic picture. Although your temps look pretty consistent for an irregular sleep pattern!
Yippiee I did not have to call back!!I was going to call back the insurance person who is helping me with the insurance stuff for the FC, but I didn't haave too!!

I've become a freak about increasing my CM this cycle. I've been drinking grapefruit juice, eating baby carrots, taking Robitussin (even though I know that just thins it out)! I've never had EWCM and I even have a hard time saying for sure that I have creamy CM. Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm also trying to drink more water, but only after I've done my OPK for the day- a real catch 22!
Oh and congrats to our new threadmistresses!

OK - question for you all -
What symptoms do you have before you O? I haven't O'd in a while and am having symptoms similar to my normal pre-AF???? So Slightly confused if anyone gets headaches (migraines), fatigue, skin breakouts right before they O... granted it would be one of those hindsight sort of things, but thought I would ask??? Just trying to keep some hope in this cycle... I'm on CD29... so it could very well go either way.
Have a Drs appt tomorrow evening, so will know more then, but am obsessing...
SO??/ Any "standard" O symptoms for you??
Thanks,
MMT

Hi girls. I have a question....
I was in NYC with my girlfriends this past weekend for 4 days (F-M). I took an OPK on Sunday afternoon and it was VERY positive. That night at dinner I felt very crampy, similar to AF cramps, which in the past I have assumed to be ovulation cramps. So I was very bummed because I knew I wouldn't see DH until Monday night.
Sunday night we went out and had an excellent Italian dinner and a little too much wine (I was very drunk). When I temped Monday morning my temp was 98.1 (very high post-o temp for me).
All day Monday I experienced the same crampy feeling, took another OPK that was **almost** positive. Still had slight watery CM.
My temp this morning was 97.7 (very low post-o temp for me).
So my question is this (two questions actually)....1) what has been everyone's experience with drinking on their temps? Could the 98.1 be artificailly elevated due solely to the drinking? And 2) is it possible to get a very positive OPK and O only a few hours later? After O, would I still experience an almost positive OPK 14 hours later?
Please help! I am freaking out here!
I have had the same results when drinking the night before my temps go up. as for the O thing a few hrs later I was under the impression it was 24-36 hrs later?

Thanks mkvh and Dotsie. You're right. I had hoped to BD more right before Oing, but it's great if we actually BD'd on my O date. I told mike the same thing... that I thought we had missed our chance. He said "what are you talking about? If we did it on the day you O'd then we did it just right!"
It must be "crazy TTC Michelle" thinking we are off. I guess I just have a picture of what I want my chart to look like and I think that is I can get it looking like that we will get PG. I think my mind sometimes tricks me to believe that my chart is telling my body what to do instead of my body telling the chart what to do. Does that make sense?
Anyways, I am excited to say that I O'd, so hopefully I'll get some red crosshairs tomorrow. I have had some cramping today. Nothing major. Just little twinges here and there that make me wonder what my body is up to. I am also breaking out, which I always do around O time.
jjsanner, according to fertilityfriend.com alcohol does affect your temps, especially if drinking large amounts.
CTs_Punkin, before I O I break out pretty badly. That's the only symptom that I can count on monthly.

jjsanner ~ Drinking will most definitely elevate your temp the next morning! As for the OPK's, the ones I have say you normally ovulate 24-48 hours after a *positive* result. Since your result on Sunday was only almost positive and you got the same result on Monday, I would say your O date is probably today (or possibly could've been late Monday). However, there are other ladies here that are *much* more knowledgable on charting than I am, and they may have a different opinion. :)
ETA ~ Welcome Lindy and Linny!
CT's Punkin ~ Sorry, no consistent O symptoms here (I've only O'd twice since being off BCP ;))
Oh, and I don't clean my therm regularly either, but I do on occassion when I think about it.

jjsanner~If I remember correctly, some OPKs have different sensitivity levels. For instance, a +OPK on one brand might mean you would O in 12-24 hours, whereas a +OPK on another brand might indicate O will occur in 24-36 hours. Look at the instructions that came with your box and see what they say. And alcohol does affect temps. :)
klav~That is wonderful news!!:D
Welcome linny and lindy!!
Well...CD19 here and apparently nowhere near Oing. I don't know what is going on. I had a little watery CM a couple of days ago and then it dried up. Completely. I continue to get - OPKs and temps are still really low. During my normal (rather, normal for me) cycles, I O around CD19 or 20 and that obviously will not be happening this cycle. I am trying not to get bummed. I have really been good so far this cycle about not stressing. In fact, there have been a couple of days when I forgot to do an OPK and DH had to remind me to do it. We have been out of town a lot lately on the weekends and while it was fun, not stressful for me, maybe it was stressful on my body and that is why I am delayed? Who knows...
ETA: cat lover, maybe I should borrow your sig phrase. My body apparently isn't liking me right now. ;)

Thanks for the input mkvh. Sometimes I don't even remember when I took my temp as I do it right before I get up- as in to run to the bathroom or go get DD.... I will try to pay more attention. Often it is at 3 or 6 or 7... Or sometime in between. No very helpful, I know.
I know in the past drinking definitely elevated my temps!
For pre-O symptoms, I am cranky and tired... That is all I can think of right now. But mostly cranky.

CTs Punkin- I get really tired for a couple of days before I O, I have right side pain a few days before (no matter which side I O on), and I break out. I also have a pretty significant dip on my chart that indicates I will O 4-8 days later.
I'm still hanging out. 14DPO today, BFN tonight. Not sure when to stop taking the progesterone. I'm going to call my dr. tomorrow. It sucks to elongate an unsuccessful cycle. Feeling pretty sad this week so I'm lurking but not really posting. Just feeling sad that I would be 9 weeks pregnant now. . and not being pregnant really sucks. I didn't get a BFP until 15 DPO last time. . . so I might wait a few more days.
Trying to look on the bright side. We are celebrating our first anniversary in a few weeks. I'll be able to go on the rollercoaster at Sea World, I'll be able to drink wine when we go to dinner, I'll be able to fully enjoy the food and wine festival at Epcot. It all sounds good but now I'm going to be 31 (at the very least) when we do have a baby. I so thought this would be easier.

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
My temp was up this morning, so I'm pretty sure I O'd yesterday, as expected. (I'll find out for sure in 2 days, I guess.) Unfortunately, DH had a long day at work and was too tired to BD last night. We covered our bases the previous 3 nights though, so hopefully there were still some swimmers around to catch that egg. LOL
Question: Does BD'ing on O+1 really increase your chances? Or is it too late at that point?
gator ~ Sorry about AF. Gotta look on the bright side though... You will be able to partake in the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot! I am jealous. We're heading to Disney World over Thanksgiving. As much as we would LOVE to surprise our parents with some good baby news while we're down there, if we're not preggo this month, at least I'll be able to ride Space Mountain. LOL

If I leave the temp in the on 19th, it tells me that I O'ed on the 19th. I am thinking that I *really* O'ed on the 17th.
I was just playing around with it to see what it would tell me.

Talk me down folks...talk me down. I am really wanting to test tomorrow morning but my temps don't indicate anything different than normal. If anything my temps are a bit lower than normal. I need to wait until Monday to test so that I don't get so bummed about a BFN.
I don't really have any FPS symptoms to speak of...not sure why I'm so obsessed with testing. Maybe I just want to have a reason why my pants don't fit so well today! ;)

Being able to ride the rides at Disney in 2 weeks was definitely the only positive thing about AF this month. I am actually hoping that O holds off to Day 23 like it did this month - that will be the day after we get back from Florida so hopefully vaca BD will help...I don't want it to be Day 14 because that would be before we went to Florida. But itwill NOT prevent me from going on the rides. I can't wait. At 35 I've only been to Disney once!

Hey ladies! I just got back from the doctor's office. She pretty much told me that it's a little early to jump into infertility proceedings (which I already knew she'd say), but she said we should check my hormone levels just to see if everything is normal. I took my charts in and she looked them over and said that it was somewhat abnormal for the cycles to be as sporadic as they are (duh!), and said that if my hormone levels come back all messed up then we would go from there. The lab was just down the hall from her office, so they took my blood and that was it.
So no real progress, but at least I'll know in a couple days if my hormones are jacked up or not. I'm not too depressed about it though. Since I FINALLY started a new cycle, I'm really praying that this will be "the one" and we won't have to worry about it. :D I guess we'll know for sure in another 2 weeks or so...crossing my fingers for an eggie to pop out!
katmg ~ Have DH hide your tests until Monday. :D That's about the best I can do to talk you down!
lindybug ~ No idea on the O+1, but it can't hurt!
nuhmah ~ I agree with Mystikal that you O'd CD19. Just my opinion though!
Mystikal and Soulmate ~ Thanks for the dust!! I'm praying it will do the trick for me this month!
Dotsie ~ Sounds promising! Can't wait to see what tomorrow's test shows...fingers crossed for you!

Lindybug, I found this at www.babyhopes.com:
"Once the ovum is thus released, it is available to a mature sperm for fertilization for 12 to 48 hours before it begins to disintegrate. This is the most fertile period of your cycle and during ovulation your chances of conception are highest."
Also this:
"For women who are trying to get pregnant, it is often advised that they should have intercourse before ovulation. This helps in conception since the sperm from the man are deposited into the cervix and as soon as the ovum is released, it has the opportunity to be fertilized. But this in no means limits the woman's ability to get pregnant after ovulation. In fact her chances of getting pregnant only depend on when she ovulates and how that is timed with intercourse. Considering the fact that the ovum starts to disintegrate 12 to 48 hours, there is a possibility that your partner's sperm can fertilize the egg up to two days after you ovulate. Keep in mind that the chances of getting pregnant this way dramatically decreases the further away from ovulation you are."
So it looks like I still have a chance this month. YIPPEE!

Just another random question here. It is getting cold in Ohio, and it is our first winter in this apartment so we are still adjusting to our heat. The past couple days it has been really warm in our apartment. Yesterday I noticed Mike had the heat up to 76, so I turned it down to 70. Could adjusting the heat like this affect my temps?
Just wondering...
Also, I had my usual mid-cycle break-out on my face and it was so strange. I have never broken out anywhere but on my forehead but right now I have 3 zits on my chin, 2 on my cheek, 1 by my nose and 1 right by my temple. This is all so new to me...

Current status: 1st pp AF 10/05
My chart look weird but I am positive I already O'd, just not sure of the day  . I think I am about 3 DPO, but I could be anywhere from 2-6 DPO. Any comments are welcome. No cm results for the last few days as I have a YI.
We figure right now that if we get pg again, it's OK, we are ready, but we aren't going out of our way (yet :) ) to do that. So I will just chart around O time to get an idea of when AF will come so I know if I am pg or not :). It took us 6 months last time.
Anyway, if I don't get AF by 11/4 I will test. The last time I got a + on 11 DPO and it was extremely light still.
Very excited to be back and thinking about #2!
About the O+1, I know on the WC we used to have a chart that was from 5 days before to 2 days after O and the chance of conceiving when you BD'd on one of those days. I believe 1 & 2 days before O was the best time. I just wish I could l find it now :( .

Welcome purplesunshine
This is a great place with really informed women. You'll learn a lot. I sure did. You are starting at a perfect time to chart. You don't normally have to temp during AF but I do because I don't want to get out of habit. First off I would buy a BD thermometer (one with a light) and then sign up for www.fertilityfriend.com or ovusoft. FF is free (VIP trial membership is I believe 2 weeks). Pick out a consistent time that you wake in the morning. As soon as you wake up without getting out of bed or moving too much take your temp and write it down on a pad if you plan on going back to sleep :)
Good Luck.

OMG Wrighty! Why aren't you testing!?
We conceived O-2. Some of the oldies remember the infamous Tulip who conceived at like O-5 or 6. You can rarely ever count yourself out.
Linnybubbles Looks good to me.

LOL Soulmate :) I was just about to post in here that I haven't tested because I haven't picked up any HPTs. I tend to go HPT crazy--so I'm trying to hold out!
I go between thinking that I COULD be pregnant- back to definitely not pregnant...Mainly because my FPS come and go. I will defininitely be testing on Sat though (if AF hasn't arrived), because we are going to a Halloween party.
When my cycle was normal (it suddenly went on strike in April) my LP was about 12 days....so if I make it to 14DPO without AF, something's definitely up!
I am happy that my temps are so stable--even if I'm not PG :)

I took another Equate test and saw another faint line. This line was just a smidgen darker than yesterday. You can see this one better but we're still going to test again tomorrow to make sure.

Dotsie - You're killing us!! Are you suuure you don't want to call it a BFP? What about an LSP (Little, Skinny Positive)?? ;) Here's hoping tomorrow brings you a really dark line!!
13 DPO for me. I went back through some of my old charts - most of the time by this point my temp is already starting to hit the coverline. I SO want to test. But since I didn't do it this morning, I'll have to wait until at least tomorrow. I don't want to try testing without FMU.

10-27-2005, 06:40 AM
Ok I'll call it a little skinny positive;)
I'm going to get more equates at Walmart today. I was so scared to test, I (tmi) peed in a cup and left it in the bathroom. My DH came down and was like "why is there a cup of pee in the bathroom"? I tested and there it was. It's weird. Today is my anniversary. I found out I was pg with my DS on my mom's bday (Oct 11). My due date would be July 9, 2006. A mere 2 weeks after DS's bday.
wrighty Your chart looks awesome. I would definitely be testing. Good Luck!!

Wrighty- test test test...;) good plan of action....hope you have a fun halloween party....
as for me- well temp went up again...FF called my O on Monday just like everyone said:) and we actually got a **High** BD rating....Yeah....i guess thats b/c we played hooky on monday just to make sure.....good thing we did:D Now....all we do is....WAIT

Hi ladies! I just wanted to come by to congratulate the newest BFPs! I can't believe we're up to this many. And I'm wishing good luck to Dotsie, and a little skinny congrats! I can't wait to check in tomorrow and see what the results are!
We got more info on DH's SA - his boys are few, but they're good swimmers! :p The doc said the motility and morphology are good, so we're hopeful that he'll get some positive news after his appt with the urologist tomorrow.
In the meantime, believe it or not, I think I may have O'd this month! FF gave me crosshairs for last Friday, so today may be 6DPO. I'm obviously not expecting anything or getting my hopes up, but at least this was something nice to have happened this month with everything else that's been going on.
Have a great day everyone!
Melissa--Your chart is KILLIN' me! Why in the world is it that we can't see more than CD 1 & 2??? ARGH!!! But YAY for Oing!!!!!!!
polkadot--Hookie for nookie, huh?? Nice! Wishing more and more high temps for you! And I'm with you on the tons of creamy CM thing. But that's normal LP behavior for me.
Dotsie-- Another little skinny CONGRATS coming your way...yay!
kat--Posted in your journal, but LOOKIN' GOOD! You're still WAAAY above CL and late in the LP for you. TEST, WOMAN!!!
MichelleRenee--Take a look at my chart for this month and the one beginning in July...my temps do the same thing that yours do: a couple days WAYYY above CL and then they drop right down around the CL. Then rebound (see today's temp). Many women get a significant estrogen surge right after O which causes their temps to drop. I'm betting you'll get a jump tomorrow.
Wrighty--Yay for stable temps and a GORGEOUS CHART!!! You're making us wait till SATURDAY?!?!?!? Hopin' you have to pass on the adult beverages Saturday night!
Soulmate--Lovin' to hear about O-2 'cause that's us this month!
Purplesunshine--welcome! This is an smart, kind group of ladies!! Hope you like it here as much as I do!
nuhmah--I keep staring at your chart trying to decide what I think, and every time I look at it I change my mind. Hey, at least you know you O'd at some point, so I guess conservative (CD 19) is better!
HI to Sabriel and babylove and jeggink!!!
Hope I got everyone.... sorry if I missed you.

I couldn't do it...couldn't put the therm away...but my temp DID go back up this a.m., so I am a bit happier! Just waiting at 6 DPO....

Katmg Good luck w/ the test!! Hope you get a BFP
Polkadot Congrats on the "HIGH" rating... hope it proves positive :D
As for me, went to the DR last night regarding my anovulary cycles.
I will be going in for bloodwork on Tuesday ( I think just about every test out there) to see if I have PCOS
DH needs to go for an SA "just in case"
and then once AF comes around, will go in for an HSG
If all comes back alright then will start Clomid the following cycle to get me ovulating.
I never thought I would be having trouble ttc... but at least I have a plan.
I forgot - changed the battery in my thermometer and my temp went up .1 over where it was yesterday... so am wondering if my temps this cycle are really screwed up, or if its just the new battery giving me a higher temp....
Have a great day!

Dotsie,
Go and get a digital 2 pack tests. Your tests probably are light since you are only DPO 10.

I am at 8DPO this morning - I am "scheduled" to get AF tomorrow, but my temps are not really showing signs of dropping. Woo-hoo! Keeping fingers crossed that this LP is truly longer, and that last month was a fluke because it changed my O date in the middle of my cycle. ;)
Thanks for chart-stalking me!!!

klav I've been reading some posts on the boards at FF and some women say their temps were flat the cycle they got their BFP's. Good Luck!!
Bellefior
10-27-2005, 09:50 AM
I know I said I wasn't charting this month, but started charting again midcycle and have some idea of when I may have O'ed. I put in enough fake temps at the beginning just to give me a cross hair on what I thought my O datewas -CD 18 (so if my early temps on my chart look weird that's why).
I've been having spotting for the last 3 days and had a terrible back ache yesterday. I can't figure out if AF may be making an earlier appearance or if it could be implantation spotting. I figure I am 7 DPO, but could be as much as 9 DPO because I don't have the earlier temps to cross check with (depending on how the earlier temps were its 'possible that I O'ed on CD16). Can someone check out my chart (its in the taking a break section) and tell me what you think? My LF is typically 9-11 days.
We're excited by the prospect, but at the same time, nervous as well. DH just gave his notice at his job (he's a lawyer) in order to help his dad out at the family business 3 days a week (FIL had surgery and will be out of commission for the next 6-12 mos and the other alternative would be to close the business) and to study for the Bar Exam in February in a nearby state where he has much better job prospects. But it's a little stressful to know I might possible be PG and thinking about how we are going to get by (very doable on my salary and his 3 days a week, but it will mean a lifestyle adjustment). DH said we would get through it and pointed out is there ever a perfect time to have a baby?
Bellefior--I was checking out your chart earlier, and I though, whoa...spotting followed by a .5 temp jump! Looking REALLY promising to me! I would wait to see what tomorrow's temp does and then possibly test, as you would be AT LEAST 10 DPO. Just use a sensitive test and remember that a - is just a neutral at this point! But, that's me...and I am impatient!!!
Dotsie whooooaaa don't get my hopes up!! hheehee
keeping fingers crossed for you Bellefioryour DH is right when is there ever a good time!!

I can tell by other charts when people O'ed, just not my own. I'm not too worried about it, but we will be BDing just in case. If I did O on the date FF says that would give me a 14 day LP, assuming my cycle was 30 days again. I know that is normal.
I have gone to bed the past few nights like a little kid on Christmas eve... telling myself "just fall asleep and when you wake up you will get a fun surprise!" expecting a big jump in my temp.
Dotsie, I am so, so excited for you! If it were me I'd be using a digital right now!
Bellefior, I know exactly how you feel. You can wait and wait until the perfect time but how will you know when it comes? I know so many people who had unplanned pregnancies at times when they weren't even thinking of having a baby and things turned out fine for them. Having a baby is a lifestyle adjustment anyways. Don't be nervous... it will be wonderful when you are PG!
Klav, you have some pretty stable temps! Is it possible your thermometer battery is dying? Someone asked me that when I was wondering why I had the same temp 4 days in a row.
Nuhmah, looks good to me! Fingers crossed for you!
HUMM i'LL HAVE TO CHECK THAT I have another thermometer will try it tomarrow. and see?? Yeah I was beinging to wonder what was up?:o

Dotsie Little tiny congrats your way :). Your chart looks fantastic!
klav Way back when I was charting before DS I also had a weird chart that had really flat lines. It wasn't the thermometer, just me :). I even tried a new battery.
Bellefior When we got pg with DS he just lost his job and things were really tough. Trust me, it will all work out in the end. You will have 36 weeks to get things the way you want.
Thanks for all the welcomes :). Work is very busy so I will keep things brief. The 2ww seems to be going by relatively quickly with all the stuff going on, work is busy, we are moving in 2 weeks from the South to the North, DS is teething, the list seems endless.
Anyway, good luck to all the ladies who will be testing soon.
jeggink this is the first very strange one for me so I'm goingt o try a new thermometer tomorrow!

CD 15 and I can't believe I forgot to temp this morning! I had TONS of EWCM yesterday and this is the earliest that I have ever Oed. Oh well, we are TTA this cycle, so I guess it doesn't matter that much. No UDD for us for awhile anyways. I just can't believe I forgot to temp. I do hope that I O soon, though!

I bought cbe digi's today and called them to verify the sensitivity. It's 50. I called twice (being a psycho, I know) so if I'm barely showing a line on equate I know the digi will be a bfn. I'll wait a couple more days for that.
Thanks for all the tiny congrats. I am not 100% though. Too light of a line to make a complete believer of me.
I was chart stalking and there are a few beautiful charts out there. I can't wait for more testing..

Weird, still spotting and my bbs are killing me. I checked my old charts and I did have a one short 27 day cycle with a 9 day LF, so I'm still not sure this isn't AF messing with my head this cycle, but if it is, I wish she would just show up instead of keeping me wondering, especially since my temps have not dropped.
On the chance it might not be, I ran across the street to the CVS to buy a test kit to keep in the house for next week--no way am I going to the pharmacy in my neighborhood with the busybody old ladies that have known me since childhood behind the counter! Of course, despite my craftiness, when I got to the front of the store, both cashiers were male, so I opted for the self-scan check out instead!

mkvh and nuhmah thanks for your observations! I was thinking the same thing today when my temp stayed up in the 98's. The only thing that was really strange for me this time is the massive cramps I got yesterday. I thought for sure AF was coming early. All day I ran to the bathroom thinking she was coming. And the cramps are gone today. Only time will tell, I am waiting until Sunday to test. I can't take any more BFN's, so I will wait till FF tells me to test.
Congrats to all the BFP's that I might not have mentioned before.:)

Still no O in sight for me. I have a friend who thinks I might either have a blocked tube or my left ovary is not working properly. She was looking at my charts and came up with this theory based on the every other cycle Oing normally (CD19 or 20) and the others being delayed. I'm not sure if my charts give enough info to make that assumption. She had a blocked tube a few years ago and apparently she had some of the same patterns I do. Any thoughts?

Whoa - I missed a ton of posts while at work! Thanks to all of the chart stalkers saying my chart looks pretty :D
A cautious congrats to you Dotsie!
Jody - Your chart is on fire! Good luck! I bet you'll test positive :)
Kathy - I am pretty sure I have issues with my left ovary/ or possibly tube too. I think that's why the Dr. wanted to do an HSG. The best thing you can do is see your dr- get an ultrasound around the time you normally ovulate, and worse comes to worse do an HSG (x-ray where they basically insert dye and see if your tubes are blocked). (the one good thing I've read about the HSG is that it can slightly increase your fertility for a couple of months because you're kinda "cleared" by the dye).
How accurate are Target HPTs? Specifically, the new plus/minus ones. There's not a whole lotta info-- I checked peeonastick.com!
OK who said it... forgot who ... you were right I just tested my thermometer nad I think I need a new battery!! just took my temp when I got home and it was the same and then took it with the one I have not been using and it was totally diffrent... klav that sucks about your thermometer!
CTsPunkin Good luck at the Dr.
Well my temp went back down again today and I had EWCM twice (around noon and this evening) and just sticky mid-afternoon... CP went from high at noon to really low mid-afternoon.... Geez I wish it would just straighten out!
I'm on CD53!! And FF took away my crosshairs. How long would you guys recommend waiting until getting something to kick-start AF? Does it screw up the next cycle to artificially start it like that? Since charting (started last Dec) I've only had 1 other annov cycle.. that was my first cycle off of BC and lasted 76 days... Should I stick it out a while longer?
Being we're talking about kitties... I have 2 sweeties.. Sassafrass and Orange. I did have Martika but lost her to kidney disease Sept 3. Hoping to get a puppy (boxer) next spring too if things work out ok with the new house.

I noticed more EWCM tonight than the last time I actually saw some (a few days ago) so until I see a more clear thermal shift I am going to think maybe I didn't O yet... I just don't know. I'm no expert at it, but what harm can a little extra BDing do if I did already O?:p
Klav, good thing you realized it was the battery! I can't take credit for the suggestion though. It was someone else in this thread who mentioned it to me a couple weeks ago.
Thanks for the babydust, Kaeden's Mommy. It has helped so many this month... I hope that we do get a few more BFP's before the end of October.
Polkadot, I will do a countdown with you! I don't know what to make of it, other than our bodies just do weird things sometimes and none of it really means anything until after the fact when you can say "OOOOHHHH, that's what that was...."
UTChick, I am hoping you don't have to go see your Dr.....
ETA if I have a much more clear thermal shift later in my cycle and still have EWCM, will FF change my O date, or does it stay put once it is called?

I had my annual exam today with my OBGYN. I brought in all my charts and was armed with tons of questions.
In a nutshell, he said that I was O'ing too late (averaging CD 24, sometimes as late as CD 34) and even if the egg was fertalized it would have trouble sticking because by then the lining was in terrible shape. I'm not too sure if I believe that this is the root cause of our problems because our son was conceived on something like CD40. Regardless, he perscribed 500mg of Metformin and 50 mg of Clomid to get me to o sooner, and progesterone. I'm a little scared to start the drugs because of the side effects (I have heard they can be terrible, including constant nausea and bowel problems), but I am willing to do whatever it takes. He is very optimistic, which makes me feel better.
One thing I think is a little weird...he made no mention of doing any tests like an SA for DH or an HSG for me. Is this because I already have a DS? Mabey we do a few months of the drugs and see how it go's?

Congrats Nuhmah! What a beautiful BFP you have! Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months to you!!!
As for me, temp went way down this morning. I still have cramps so I am armed with AF products today. I am guessing either she is on her way or my temp went down since I have a cold and had to breathe through my mouth all night. We are on a field trip today at school, so I won't be able to run to the bathroom to check, which totally sucks. I am hoping the drop is from the mouth breathing, but I'm not holding my breath (which I can't anyway, lol).

Congrats Nuhmah!! That's definitely a nice little BFP-- no doubt about it! H & H 9 months to you :)
So- I bought a pack of Target tests and a pack of FRER tests. I tested last night and this morning. With both Target tests I saw a very faint line almost immediately. With the FRER- a definite BFN both times. Then I read that the blue plus/minus tests can give you false positives. :( So my plan of action is to spend even more money on tests. I'm going to stop by Walmart to get some equates-- any other "reliable" test I should pick up?
Soulmate
10-28-2005, 05:30 AM
Congratulations Nuhmah!! You gotta get your butt over to the July Mommies' thread! I would bet you ovulated early than FF is saying. There is no way you can get a line that dark at 8DPO.
jjsanner If you don't feel comfortable with the drugs I would recommend acupuncture instead. I too am a late ovulator and went through 3 cycles on Clomid with no success. I got pregnant after a year with my first cycle doing acupuncture. He was trying to get me to ovulate sooner but I got pregnant before he had a chance to. But he got a woman with completely annovulatory cycles down to a 30 day cycle and pregnant. Just throwing out another option for you.
ETA: Wrighty I think only the Fact Plus (I think thats the brand) ones are unreliable. Now both Equates and Target brands only come in +/-. Equates (and I assume Targets) are still as reliable until proven otherwise. I recommend Dollar Tree and Equates above everything else. I also recommend CBE Digital but it may be too soon to get a positive on them because they are not as sensitive. The only ones I really avoid are Answer, FRER, and that old +/- one. IMO...since you got a faint + on the target brand...you have a right to start getting really excited. But find another test just to make sure.

As for me 14 DPO - I decided not to test this morning. My temp went down from yesterday - not below the coverline - but down. Plus I've been feeling crampy so I imagine AF will make an appearance this weekend. I'm back to waiting until Monday to test.

Nuhmah - congratulations!! that is a gorgeous test. wishing you a happy and healthy nine months.
Dotsie - i think this is it.... <whispering> congratulations!
As for me, I am 9DPO. I have two more days till I get AF or a pretty test. I'm just hanging out and waiting. I *feel* like this could be it but I really don't have any FPS so maybe I'm just kidding myself.

Nuhmah Congratulations on you BFP! That is a fat one too! Have a H&H 9 months :D .
Dotsie That is one good looking chart! I def thing you are pg and am looking forward to seeing that + test!
Michelle FF will change your O date according to your chart. Personally I don't think you O'd yet, your temps are still to low, so BD away :) .
Bellefior Can't help you with those tests. I have always used answer or equate.
jjsaner I would say if you don't feel comfortable with the drugs, maybe get a 2nd opinion? Just my thoughts.
Wrighty26 I think equates are a good way to go and are cheap. Hopefully you will still have that line!
klav Glad to hear it was the battery (either that or you got a temp spike :) )
Hula So sorry about AF.
Jodi Hoping AF stays away!
Abirney I think you may want to call your OBGyn and ask how long they think you should wait before taking something to jump start AF. I don't think it messes up your next cycle though, but I have no experience with it.
No updates for me today, just boring 2ww. The baby is teething and it's tough to get a good temp in the morning.
katmgsorry you feel AF is coming.....
bumbleI'm in the same boat hopeing and crossing fingers for you!
ok this am I'm feeling abit constapadied (TMI)and I have been having acid refluces alot more than normal. could that be a sign or am I just digging for clues and it's just me?

Congratulations Nuhmah! :D
Got my 3rd day of high temps, so FF confirms I did O on Tuesday, as expected.
I'm not feeling confident, since we didn't BD on O day, although I know it's completely possible to get pg by BDing the days before... Maybe I'm just trying to psych myself out so I'm not TOO disappointed if it doesn't happen this month. It is our first month TTC, after all!

CONGRATULATIONS nuhmah!! That is one beautiful BFP! I agree that you had to have O'd earlier than what FF said. That's one heck of a line! :D
Hula ~So sorry that AF found you.
Dotsie ~ You are sooooo pg girl! That is a pg chart if I've ever seen one!

Question ~
Does anyone know much about missing your period while on BCP? I talked to a friend last night and she is 2 days late for AF while on the pill. She always gets AF on Tuesday, but this month...nothing. She took 2 equate tests and they both came back negative. Surely by now they would've given her a positive if she was actually pg, right? Does anyone know of another reason that you would miss AF? Could it be stress?

Thanks, jeggink. I didn't think I had O'ed either, to be honest. I was hoping that FF just knew something I didn't. I guess we'll just have to keep BDing.;) :D

Thank you so much Dotsie, Jody, Hula, Klav, Wrighty, Soulmate, Michelle, ds2003, katmg, bumble, jeggink, gator, lindy, catlover, amurphy and shouldaeloped. I missed anyone, I am sorry!!! I am so excited!
Soulmate - you bet your bottom that I am getting over to that thread today and posting.
What do I say when I call the doctor's office? "Hi, I'm preggo. Now What?" I have no clue!
Dotsie - get thee to a test, girl! I saw a huge rise in my temp this morning (I temped just in case ;) ), just like the one you are seeing. I do admire your patience, though!
Jody - keeping fingers crossed that AF stays away. Have fun on your field trip! :)
Hula - sorry AF arrived
Klav - I would say test, but you shouldn't necessarily listen to me. :p
MichelleRenee - Sorry your O is gone... maybe a temp rise tomorrow will bring it back?
Threadmistress - I would love to be graduated!!!

Congrats Nuhmah Happy & Healthy 9 months to you
Dotsie HELLO??? You are so preggers... test test test...
No pressure or anything ;)
Jody You're not out yet!! keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Klav Glad to hear it was the Therm. Hope you get that BFP this month!!
Gosh, are we almost at 20 bfps this month??? Goodness!!
As for me... nothing, nada... didn't O - so I guess just waiting for AF to show up... nothing like my 4th annov. cycle in a row ay? Guess I'll know more next week when I go to the Drs for blood work. Have had terrible headaches and my face breaking out... this usually doesn't happen right before AF arrives... so perhaps she's coming this weekend. Which wouldn't be all that terrible, as I get to call for an HSG as soon as she comes.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
MMT
CONGRATULATIONS NUHMAH!!!!!!!!
And fingers crossed for you, Wrighty and Dotsie!! Dotsie, I CANNOT believe you are going to leave us hanging!

Last night, BIL and SIL announced that they are pg and expecting at the end of May. They had a m/c in July at 12 weeks, so I am very excited for them. But man, was I jealous! It sucks to feel that way.

Congratulations nuhmah!
I'm at work so really can't post too much more. I am going out of town this weekend without DH, so I really hope that I O'd yesterday- I think I did. My temp hasn't jumped yet and I'm really nervous that I won't get accurate temps this weekend with traveling and daylight savings time ending! Oh well, we've covered our bases as much as possible! ;)
ok with day light savings time do we have to change the time we temp at? like I temp at 7 does that now mean I temp at 6?
Dotsie
10-28-2005, 09:26 AM
I was going to ask the exact same thing...
jeggink
10-28-2005, 09:48 AM
With respect to daylight savings time, what I do is I adjust my temp time by 15 min each day. So my normal temp time is 6:30 am. I temped today at 6:45. I will temp tomorrow at 7:00 am. Then the time change would occur. I would temp at 6:15am, new time, and then 6:30 again the next day. You may see a slight fluxuation, but it allows you body time to get onto the new schedule. You could also do 1 day before, 3 days after I guess.
I don't know how FF does it though, I can't remember.
Fertility Friend on Daylight Savings Time:
"Fertility Friend's recommendation is to record your temperature as usual without correcting it in any manner. We recommend that you keep taking the temp at the same time. If you took it at 6 in the morning before the change, then take it at 6 in the morning after the change."
But TCOYF says more along the lines of what jeggink, I think...

Congratulations, nuhmah!
10dpo here. I don't think I'll test unless I make it to 16dpo, which is Thursday. I always hope, but I've been disappointed too many times. DH said he thinks we'll probably be pregnant this cycle, since we just spent the money for my blood tests and his SA. I definitely wouldn't mind, though!
