Did anyone have, or is anyone planning to have a signature drink at their wedding reception? My wedding is in November, so something tropical would not go, but I definitely want to have one at my reception and am looking for various ideas.
I would love to hear if anyone else did the same thing and whether the guests enjoyed it. Thanks!

My venue served a Prickly Pear Margarita for us. It was SOOOO yummy and everyone loved it.

I tore a page out of a bridal magaize that had a recipe for a Honeydew melon martini. They called it the "Honey-I-Do martini"

We used the Wedding Cake Cocktail as a Martini for our Cocktail Hour. Every one raved about them especially the men :D

The Wedding Cake Martini was our signature drink too - a HUGE hit - everyone loved them. I put a little sign at the bar letting everyone know what it was (At the bottom I wrote "Have your cake & drink it too!!!" I thought it was kinda cute... if I do say so myself :p )

Our reception had a Sinatra/ Martini theme. We served 4 signature martinis: the blushing bride (a cosmo), the golden groom (a blood orange), the Jeff (named for DH- it was a filthy dirty vodka) and the Lisa (named for me- a chocolate). They were a hit. We had a traditional bar, but the 4 named martinis just added a little bit.

The Wedding Cake Martini sounds yummy. My FH and I are not big drinkers AT ALL - not b/c we're against it or anything, we just don't really socialize like that too often.. although you can definitely find us pretty damn drunk at any Virginia Tech home games! Besides that, our signature drink would have to be Coke. :) Anyway, I think it's definitely a great idea! I just read an article in a wedding magazine (it was local, though) about having the signature drink be in one of your wedding colors.. if anyone needed help finding a drink to match a color, I could easily look it up for you.

You should do a "HokieTini"--something in deep red or orange!

We didn't have one at our wedding (regretting that now!), but as we like to entertain a lot, there are a few 'signature' drinks that we serve at our house.
Here's our favorite drink recipes that I'll share:
Boston Cream Martini:
1 shot Bailey's Irish Cream
1 shot Godiva Liqueur
1 shot Vanilla flavor vodka (I use Stoli)
Shake with ice, then serve. Tastes like dessert!
White Cosmopolitan
4 oz. white cranberry juice (or less, if you like a stronger drink)
1/2 shot triple sec
1 shot plain vodka
1/2 shot Rose's lime juice
Shake with ice, then serve
Pom Cosmopolitan
2 oz. regular cranberry juice cocktail
Dash Rose's lime juice
Dash of sour mix
1 shot of vodka (raspberry flavor works well, or use plain)
Shake the above in a shaker, pour into martini glass.
Pour a generous splash of Pom (pomegranate) juice over the whole drink as a 'float'.

my dad used to be a bartender, and has earned quite a reputation for his delicious sangria among my family & friends.
so, even though it wasn't quite fitting for the season, we couldn't resist serving it as a signature drink. the calligrapher made signs for the bar areas, that coordinated with the menu, so that people would know about it.
