Alright Lizard. Where are you?!?! This thread is too lonely.
So I'm talking to myself here. My temp this morning dropped to 97.8 & I did a CBE dig that showed Not PG. AGH! My urine was extremely diluted & our room was colder than usual, so I used that to keep me sane for a few hours, but it didn't help that I'm still cramping. I was ready to call the nurse but wanted to give testing one more try. Had much darker urine this time and the test showed just what it was supposed to. I can't begin to explain how scared I became at the possibility of losing this, and how relieved I was to not see "not."
I seem to be taking my time, but every day something makes this whole thing more real, and I'm making the transition from thinking about 1 person to thinking about 2. I'm realizing what it means to give up everything for my child. And all those other women are right: there is simply no way to understand it until you're going through it.

LOL, alright.... I will join. :D I'm still kinda hesitant, but considering how I've been feeling and whatnot I think this is the real thing:
CC Name: Lizard
Me: Liz, 30
DH: Chris, 33
Married: 9/20/03
TTC: April 2005
BFP: 10/22/05
EDD: 7/4/06
Gender Prediction: Girl
I'm gonna test again on Monday, and assuming I get the same result I'll give the doc a call for an appt. I don't care for my gyn too much, so I'm thinking I might just go into the GP first, and see if she has recommendations for a good OB.
I'm kinda tempted to go get a digital test.... I think DH would like to see the word "pregnant" just to be sure. :)
I'm glad you got another BFP... you scared me there for a second! When is your first appt? By the way, your EDD says 5/1/06. :)

Like Lizard I too am very hesitant. I was once a member of a mommies thread and it sucks beyond belief to have to leave and watch all of them stay and progress. But I know I'd be a serious lurker anyway, I'd might as well join. I probably won't participate in any "what stroller are you buying" conversations until after the 1st trimester though. So here I go...taking the plunge:

Gender Prediction: Boy
flygirl How incredibly scary! I'm so glad you were able to see that amazingly fabulous word!
lizard Go digital!! If your DH is like my DH, he still won't believe it. My DH only started to believe it when I got the blood test results back.
QOTD What are your symptoms? Mine for sure RPS are a lack of spotting, and my bbs are not as sore. Really sore bbs are a PMS sign for me and this time they never got that sore. Oh, I do have sharp tiny cramps and my nipples are HUGE! The nipple thing was another tip off. And I'm queasy.
flygirl
10-22-2005, 06:12 PM
Congratulations to both of you!!!!!!!!!!
Would one of you mind taking over the thread? Looks like I won't be around afterall. After my last post I noticed a tiny bit of spotting. I called the nurse, who sent me to Urgent Care, who sent me to the ER. Nothing showed up on the u/s & my betas were 20. Oh well. Life goes on. Feel free to PM me & I'll give you the thread info.

Oh Flygirl, I am so sorry. :( I don't mind taking over the thread, I'll PM you.

10-23-2005, 10:09 AM
Just a little update (sort of). A few people have brought up that a beta of 20 is low, but not impossible. Unfortunately, my temp went down yesterday, my bbs aren't sore anymore, & I'm bleeding a lot of dark red blood. In fact, my bbs already feel smaller & the areolas don't have that stretched look.
I have an appt. with the gyn tomorrow, so I'll know for sure, but it just doesn't look good.
Congratulations to all the upcoming July Mommies!!

The acupunturist has given me the nastiest, grossest herbs on the planet to drink. I have to drink 2 cups (a large glass) of basically what tastes like liquid vitamins. I am already pretty queasy...I think he just wants me to throw up.

10-23-2005, 05:58 PM
Changed for ya!
I didn't answer your question earlier, but I've been pretty queasy for a good week. I think the biggest clue I had that I might be pg is that I was queasy and that my bbs were a bit sore, and both were consistently happening. On previous cycles I'd have both happen, but maybe for a day or 2 at most and that was it. This time it isn't going away.
I was supposed to be gone this weekend and Monday for DH's uncle's funeral, but they moved it to Wednesday. So I'll be gone Tuesday through Thursday in the coming week.... just FYI if you don't see me for a few days. :)

I'll add ya when I get home Mystikal. I think I might join the June thread too, since I know so many of you stinkers. :)
I had some red spotting when I woke up (which has since stopped), so I called my doc and she sent me immediately this morning for a beta and a progesterone check. I just got back and should have the results this afternoon. I'm still having nausea and tender bbs, and she said that was a good sign because often those stop abruptly. So cross your fingers everything looks good. Prior to the spotting I had taken another test which was VERY dark, so I'm hoping that's a good sign as well.

Can you believe they called me already? I really didn't care for my OB previously, but I'm having second thoughts now 'cause they're being so awesome today. Beta is 107.8 and progesterone is 19.2... apparently both are great. :D I can't go in for a repeat beta on Wed. because we'll be out of town, but I might go in Friday if the nurse feels I need to. The first REAL appointment is November 18th.
Man do I feel relieved and happy. :)

Thank you so much Amurphy :D
Lizard I'm so glad everything looks good. The high temp is a good sign. Let's hope for no more spotting! Your dr's office seems much more with it than mine (see below).
So I went into the dr's office to get my betas and progesterone checked. I repeated multiple times that I have a history of miscarriages. So I go to get the blood drawn and they want to run a qualitative blood test (yes/no). Hello! I *know* I'm pregnant! And no one has mentioned getting a repeat beta done  Oh...and they won't do the test stat so I have to wait for tomorrow for the results. Regardless I am on prometrium (progesterone) now due to my history. I have a strong feeling that office doesn't deal with repeat m/c's very much. I guess most of us are with RE's instead. Oh, and my first appointment is November 23rd which will also be my first ultrasound.
Lizard
10-25-2005, 10:30 AM
I'm having some spotting again today, but it is nearly nonexistant and brown. I've also had some cramping, but it's not AF-type cramps... more like poking-in-the-belly cramps. Plus they're on the sides of my belly, not in the center like AF cramps are. Temp was still up today (today's the last day I'm gonna temp) and I'm still queasy so I'm optimistic. I figure it's my body telling me, "Hey, isn't AF due by now?" :D
Leaving soon, and will be back Friday... have a good week ladies!

Mystikal and Lizard I'm glad you both are getting those too. Mine are in one spot on the side I implanted. They are driving me crazy because it just reminds me of my m/c. I know they are normal. I have to keep thinking "its just the baby burrowing in" over and over.
Mystikal When I went the first time they did the u/s first and then talked to you later. I was convienently in the beginning of my m/c at the time so all we talked about was that. I got a bunch of samples and literature about what to eat and what not to eat, etc. I don't know what they do if you don't get an u/s at the first appointment. I've heard just kinda do a family history. BTW...I was just reading your question in June mommies and I had an u/s at 7w3d and was only trying for 4 cycles at that point. It all depends on the practice.

Soulmate YEAH for good betas. My RE confirmed the positive but didnt give the nubers on my machine GRR! Anyway back tomorrow for another check.
HOw early have many of you had your u/s?? With Ryan and Connor I had them at 9 weeks so I knew I would see a hb. This time I will be six weeks and to be honest if there is a chance that its too early to see the hb I would rather wait then get myself all freaked out about it.
Anyone on progestrone. I hate it. This is the first time I took it and gross!!!!

kellyann It is usually around 6 1/2 weeks when you can see the heartbeat on average though many people have seen it before. Just don't freak out if they don't see it yet. My u/s is scheduled for when I'm about 8 1/2 weeks. From what I'm reading in the pregnancy thread I may even be able to hear it. I think I would cry hysterically if I did. I'm on progesterone and hate it. My levels are more than o.k. but I have a history of m/c's so they want me on it anyway. Right now I'm just feeling very tired from it.

10-27-2005, 05:20 PM
I'm back! Welcome Kellyann!! If you want to, post your info and I'll add you to the roster.
My spotting completely stopped yesterday morning... I've had none since. Still having the poking cramping feelings. I'm SO glad you ladies are having the same thing. My OB's nurse wants me to call her tomorrow to let her know how I'm feeling. I'm assuming she'll do a repeat beta, but I really don't know. My breasts have gotten very tender... I mostly notice it at night when I'm trying to sleep. :( My nausea comes and goes... nothing real significant right now, thank goodness.
We made the decision not to tell ANYONE about the pregnancy until we have our first appointment on November 18th. I'll be about 7 1/2 weeks by then. Both mine and DH's family have experienced a close death recently, so it's really not a good time to spring big news. At the appt. we'll see the heartbeat and just feel a lot better about everything. The hardest thing will be not telling my best friend, because I work with her and she just found out she's pregnant too. :) She's due 2 or 3 weeks before me.
kellyann1972
10-28-2005, 07:51 AM
Thanks rene' and Soulmate. I am not getting my hopes up to see a hb. The last two times I saw it I did cry though, its truly a magical moment and makes it seem so darn real.
I also have a history of m/c so thats why I have the progestrone. I cant believe how gross it is though I have heard some women get shots instead which is nasty as well.
We arent telling anyone til Christmas. We only just lost Connor in June and I know my parents were very worried about my mental health and I think they might be afriad we tried again too soon. Plus based on my history its better that I just wait before I get everyone excited. I hate not telling.
Lizard my boobs are KILLING me too. I think cause of the progestrone cause I dont remember this from before. Plus I have a toddler that has discovered them and thinks a little squeeze is funny when we are playing. Such a stinker. Also how fun for you to have a PG buddie!
One of my friends is adopting and getting her little girl in June so we will both be having a good summer.
I am a little freaked cause my due date is 7/6 and if they do a c section 10 days early or so its June 26 which is right around when we lost Connor.
Ok will post my info in a bit HAPPY FRIDAY!~

Well, I scheduled my doctor's appointment - December 2nd at 10am. :)
So, it took me a couple of phone calls to get the right place.
Call #1 went like this:
Receptionist: Hello
Me: Hello, I am a patient of Dr. So&So, and I had a positive home pregnancy test last night.
R: Ummm... ok? (insert really snotty tone)
M: Well, I was told I should call my Dr. when I received a positive result.
R: OH. Well, we don't do follow up OB work. GoodBye.
M: WAIT, Wait, wait! Is there someone you can refer me to.
R: (heavy sigh and then she gives me the names)
Of course, one of the phone numbers was wrong. What a piece of work.
So, I have always worked with male OB/GYN's, so this time I asked to be with a female, so have a female OB. Is one better than the other to work with? Anyone have any comparative notes to share?
She also counted how far along I was from my last period... wouldn't that be wrong? That would put me further along than I really am.

Jen - what a cruddy receptionist! I have a male gyno, and he's OK but I haven't decided if I want to stay with him. I've been with him for probably 6 or 7 years, and he was always very rushed when I'd go in for an annual. When DH and I go in for our first appointment, I'll see how it goes and make a decision from there. I really like his nurse, and she would handle most of the appointments anyways. :)
Speaking of the nurse, she didn't call back until nearly 3:00 today so I couldn't go in for my repeat beta. I'll be doing that tomorrow and get the results on Monday. I'm not worried for some reason... probably because my boobies are so tender and I keep having nauseous moments. :)

Congratulations and welcome to our growing little threadfamily nuhmah!! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/loveshower.gif (http://www.millan.net)
lizard Welcome back! I'm so glad the spotting stopped. It is not very fun. We're not supposed to deal with that anymore! Have you heard back from the dr's office yet?
nuhmah I think you probably truly ovulated around the CD14 or 15 mark so if you told them you LMP it would be decently accurate. If you did ovulate when FF says (and it smokes crack...I don't trust it at all) then it doesn't hurt anything. The only complication would be at your u/s your measurements wouldn't line up (they would say you are lets say 7w5d when by your LMP you should be 8w3d). If you have in mind how far along you are by LMP and by your suspected ovulation you should be fine and not freak out at the difference. I lied about my LMP because I ovulated later and didn't want to get an u/s too early to see anything.
Telling People We are waiting until after the 1st trimester to tell everyone. My other pregnancy we had told everyone and when I m/c'ed it was horrible having everyone give their advice and treat you so differently. Trust me you find out everyone and their mother had a m/c too and "look we have x number of kids now!" Doesn't help. So we want to wait until we are out of the most volitle period. DH's cousin is living with us so it is hard keeping it a secret. Suddenly there is a bunch of healthy food in the house and I am sleeping all the time. I'm just glad he hasn't asked too many questions.

What can I drink? I drink diet soda all the time - so now that the whole aspartame thing is out, what next? I drink 3 Nalgene's of water today (and ran to the bathroom inbetween periods all day) instead of my usual soda or two, and a ton of milk. Any suggestions?

nuhmah There isn't too much you can drink. I've been drinking mostly water but OJ is very very good for you and you can also brew some decaf iced tea (unsweet though). They also have those diet sodas with Splenda. Now you can debate using splenda forever but the jist is that right now they think it is safe but it has not been around long enough to say for sure. So it is a judgement call. My personal stance is everything in moderation. If you are jonesing for a regular soda, one every now and again won't hurt...just not every day.
Is anyone getting really annoyed with how much they have to pee? I told DH that I wish I could just run around the house with no pants or underware on so I could just sit on the toilet and pee with no hassle. I swear I peed 3 times in one hour the other day.
I am in love with my acupuncturist! Tuesday night I started getting night sweats. Well, for me* night sweats only happen with an estrogen surge (not good in pregnancy) and happened my last pregnancy when I m/c'ed. So I told my acupuncturist when I was in there and he altered my herbs and last night was night sweat free!! Having him helps so much with my m/c fear.
* There is viturally no literature or info on what causes night sweats in pregnancy so if anyone else is getting night sweats...do not freak out. My attributing night sweats to m/c is only my own and possibly irrational.

I'm basically drinking whatever I feel like. My normal drink of choice is Diet Coke with Splenda, and I'm still drinking that but quite a bit less. I've increased my water intake, and when I'm thirsty I try to make myself drink water first. But if I REALLY want a soda, I don't deny it to myself. Same with food... I had tuna and deli meat this week, among other things.
Yeah, the bathroom thing is kinda annoying. I know it's not gonna get better for a while though, so I'm just dealing with it. :) I haven't really had the exhaustion hit yet, but I've noticed that when I do go to bed, I'm zonked out right away and sleep through the night. I'm a fairly light sleeper, so that's not typical for me.
I'm on call this weekend (sigh), but I need to head up to the hospital and have my repeat beta done, and we also have a Halloween party to go to tonight (provided I'm not at work).

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I guess I am doomed to be drinking milk and water! ;) I actually don't drink OJ - as a singer, the acidity hurts my throat. And when you already have nodules on your vocal chords, it doesn't help. Any other juice ok? I love cranberry juice.
I haven't gotten to the bathroom thing yet... thanks for warning me. Although, I did go to the bathroom more often than usual yesterday, and I attributed that to an increase in my fluids.
I'm off to Barnes and Noble today to try and find a book I like. I know there are tons of internet sites, but I am entering a season in teaching music we like to call Haedes. :D I have 3 symphony concerts this month, musical auditions, I am getting kids ready for honors choir in January, and December is open for Winter Concert season. I have 3 choir concerts alone to put on in December. I really don't have the time to sit on the internet, so I wanted a good book to keep with me.

I can't stand how much I'm peeing, either. I watched My Boss's Daughter last night and had to go to the bathroom ELEVEN TIMES!!!!! Yes, I counted. Of course, I was so thirsty I was drinking like a gallon of water, but still. Geez!

lizard I am with you on the deli meat thing. There is no proof that in this modern society that deli meat is going to do much harm. Things are so friggin processed which is about the only thing that is going to be bad for you. During my last pregnancy I asked my ob about deli meat and she called it "Lysteria Hysteria" and said that the only thing that will do harm is all the nitrates.

Congrats to all the July Mommies.
Mystikal - I like Your pregnancy week by week
nuhmah - regarding male and female ob/gyns. I've had both and my RE is a male and my current ob/gyn is a male. From my experience I love the males much more. They include DH in discussions and I don't feel rushed. Both my male doctors have a great sense of humor. Someone else may have the completely opposite experience. I would suggest picking one and see how your first appt goes. Also, ask around. If you don't feel comfortable, get a new doctor.

I seond your pregnancy week by week, WTE is scary and condescending. I also liked the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy for some laughs, If you like it get The Girlfriends Guide to the First Year cause you wont have time to read it then LOL!
I have a female OB who works with two men I like the men but prefer my female. If you are uncomfortable switch. Its too important to dela with an OB who is a hassle. Most OB nurses I have met are snotty. Once I called witha question and the biatch asked "Is this your first" umm no lady I am just asking a question, us PG people are allowed to wonder what the he11 is happening to our body!
As for drinking I drink also of iced tea (I make it) and allow myself 102 diet cokes without caffiene a day. I also have a small coffee with half caf.half not. My OB said one - two is OK a day.
Soulmate the night sweat thing is soo true. I got them the Sunday night before my postive test and thats how I knew to test!
I also get restless leg and I HATE it so much. It starts about month 2 and lasts the whole time.
We watched the Hostage last night is was OK but could have been shorter. I stayed up til 11 and got up with my little one at 7 and am beat as heck today.
OK off to make pumpkin cookies for the Halloween parade at daycare. UGH I have no idea why I didnt just sign up to bring juice boxes!

Hey everybody --- I'm tentatively stepping into this thread. I am only 11dpo, so a little nervous, but I also have a ton of questions! :)
I am so glad to hear that most of you are having cramps, too. Mine are pretty subtle, but undeniable. I don't have to pee much yet. I just feel really weak, like my blood sugar is low or I'm dehydrated or something. That was actually what tipped me off to test - I really wasn't hoping for anything this cycle. I actually had some infertility bloodwork done last Thursday at 2dpo. DH had a semen analysis done this Thursday, when I was 9dpo. I went to work on Friday and felt like absolute crap all day. I had been telling myself that I would not test until at least 16dpo, because I've seen enough BFNs to last a lifetime. I drove home from work, still feeling like crap, and DH wasn't home yet. I decided, "What the hell, Dollar Tree has tests, and it will only cost me $1.00 to satisfy my weirdo urge to POAS."
Well, that turned out to be a big surprise. :D
So, here are my stats:
CC Name: ShelbyMay

Welcome Shelby!! :D I didn't hold out much hope for myself this cycle, either. I was very depressed and hating my body, so it was a shock to get a BFP. :)
So, just for sh1ts and giggles this afternoon I used my sisters Magic 8 ball and asked if I was going to have a boy. Response? Yes, definitely. Then I asked if I was going to have a girl. Response? Yes, definitely. Then I asked if I was going to have twins. Response? As I see it, yes. I don't know if I believe in those things, but twins do run in my family and they skip a generation. My grandmother had twin brothers and there haven't been any twins on my mothers side since so we are due...we shall see...

So, July Mommies -- Did you tell anyone yet? DH and I have only known for 26 hours and we are both about to burst. Actually, we already slipped and told 2 people who were not supposed to be the first to know (a friend and a neighbor).
I am wondering if I should go ahead and tell my family, even though I know my mom's opinion on telling early...
But wouldn't I *want* close friends and family to know so that they could be supportive if something went wrong? I think it'd be even worse to have them ask "When are you going to have kids?" if I'd just had a miscarriage.
Soulmate
10-29-2005, 09:53 PM
ShelbyMay I posted in your other thread. The jist for others in here though is that, in my experience, you don't get the kind of support you imagine if you do miscarry. Telling people early is great in hindsight when you have a healthy pregnancy, but I deeply regretted it...even telling my mom and dad. Both are very supportive in different ways and both sucked at supporting me through my m/c. My mom was great during but she kept asking me if I was pregnant again for *months* afterwards. My dad just didn't know how to handle it and I think for him it was almost like having a conversation about your period (very awkward). I think a m/c is just something people don't know how to handle well. It is a very typical occurance but no one ever talks about it so no one knows how to deal with someone who does talk about it. And please trust me that I never thought I would lose the pregnancy last time (hence telling everyone). I wish I had the innocence like some other ladies do and have successful stories to tell about telling others about your pregnancy. That is forever gone when you have a miscarriage. ETA: I always responded "when we do" or "when it happens" or "we're trying" when people ask when we are having kids who didn't know our history. After the m/c you are in a better place to field those questions and can then even say "we've had a miscarriage". It is just different when its over then while you are actually going through it. There is no way to truely understand the pain of a m/c unless you've gone through one. Mine was fairly early (7w2d) and things just happen during it that suck beyond belief and it is really hard to accept support when people don't know that kind of pain (at least for me).
Mystikal Were you on clomid? I can't remember. Wouldn't that be crazy if you were pregnant with twins? I've thought about it too cause my betas were so high and my mom is a twin and I have twin paternal cousins. But I always had one follicle even on clomid so I doubt it.
good morning!! I hesitate to join just because I had a MC last time at about 8 weeks sooo.. Welcome Shelby and klav. Well I didnt get alot of support when I miscarried really, not alot of people truly know what to say. Your mom sure if you are close or something but ... my siblings and friends were weirded out. They were as well when we lost Connor. My DH doesnt want to tell til its safe. Well based on what I have been through that would be 37 weeks, kinda hard to hind. I just have a really good feeling about things this time.
numah we are just about to rip our the ceiling in our basement and repaint and put up one of those wood ceilings. We are in NJ and have a smaller house. The basement is our entertainment room, play room and office so I am dreading it. I want it done but Ryan plays down there so much. Oh well. Good luck with the kitchen. Ours was out of commission when we put in Pergo and it was a biatch.
Twins... I know I couldnt handle it. I think its amazing but I remmeber how hard thenewborn stage was with one and I would be in the looney bin if I had two of them. :-)
My craps are tapering off a bit now. Never any spottingjust like period cramps. I hate it cause its scary. But totally normal.

Welcome Klav!! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/congratualtions.gif (http://www.millan.net) So many of us need some sticky vibes this time around don't we?
nuhmah Any other juice ok? I love cranberry juice. I don't know. I assume so. With all drinks other than tea or water you have to watch out for calories and if you are at risk for gestational diabetes, the sugars. If you have a hard time getting healthy calories or your metabolism is good I would assume there is nothing to worry about.

Not much going on here... I went and bought a couple of books this weekend to begin my reading. I am really not feeling any symptoms, but I did have a dizzy spell in the middle of Home Depot yesterday. Great.
DH took next week (not this week, but the following week) off from work, so hopefully he can get my base cabinets in so the counter people can come make a template. Soulmate, isnt it terrible feeling to lie. For some reason tonight everyone called us, parents, siblings, aunts and uncles and I was like yeah nothing new here at all. Of course I want to shout from rooftops!
Lizard I have my third and final (if all goes well) blood test tomorrow. Its a PITA waiting for results. I get mine same day though so thats at least one thing but seriously I WAIT for that phone to ring.
Do you all work? I just started back consulting, I left work last April as a Media Director when I was on bedrest with Connor. I knew I wasnt cut of for SAH but I ended up taking a few months off after we lost him and JUST started literally 2 weeks ago at a new company 10 minutes from home.. I mean I am not even an employee really but I have to say the pay is awesome and I would like to stay with it. (I dread going on bed rest again) anyway I wont tell them til Jan or anything but I feel bad.
I told my DH my boobies were hurting and rock hard and he tell me "oh stop withy our dirty talk" Poor guys knows that the first trimester is a dry spell for him!
I 'll be calling the dr tomorrow to see when I can get in there... I have to cancel my IUI class on Thrus. and ask what I can and can not eat.. and how long to take the progesterone?.... so I'm so happy to be here!!

I am so dead tired. I haven't been this tired since I was student teaching, commuting an hour, had 12 private students, and a waitressing job. I don't even think I was this tired then.
Because of our remodel, my washer and dryer are not connected. We have to wait until most of the plumbing is inspected so we can add the w/d hookups in the basement (the previous owners had the water draining/comin in through a sink, and a horrible dryer hookup), so I have been doing bi-weekly trips to the laundromat. I swear I almost fell asleep folding Jamie's shirts. :o Its only 8:30, and I am almost down for the count.
About work... yep, I do! I teach middle school, and we have talked about me taking next year off instead of doing a short maternity leave, or having to go back halfway through the year. If I build up a private studio (bigger than I have now), I can make as much, if not more, doing that. Sometimes being a teacher stinks.
Sorry I rambled!!!
ETA: I began reading "A Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" tonight. Hilarious!

I am feeling really tired, also. I took a 3 hour nap this afternoon, and am ready to go back to bed again (still before my usual bedtime). I thought I better take advantage of my option-to-nap before heading back to work this week.
I do work fulltime, but mine is an unusual situation. DH and I both work for a company owned by my parents. We work in different capacities, so we're only actually together at work for an hour or less most days. I work in an office right next to my mom's office, so I spend a LOT of time with her. That is one of the main reasons why I am anxious to go ahead and tell my family -- I figure they'll notice my fatigue and nausea pretty soon, and I'd much rather tell them than have them guess it -- or even worse, not guess it and just think that I am really slacking at work.
Wrighty26
10-31-2005, 03:22 AM
Thanks for the warm welcome ladies :D
I went to bed at 9 last night (I could have gone to bed at 8, but forced myself to stay awake!), but here I am wide awake @ 5am. I'm sure I'll want to go back to sleep right as I leave for work!
As for work- I am an instructional designer/assistant project manager (develop training). I have 2 coworkers who are pregnant-- and it hasn't really effected their role within the company. Both are taking 3 month (unpaid :() off after their births, but are coming back. I'm positive I'll do the same. The one great thing about my job is that I'll probably be able to work from home a couple of days a week for a little while. I don't plan on telling work until the
2nd trimester, for sure!
I'm calling the Dr. today! I never thought I would be so excited to do that :)
Question: What's the protocol with pregnancy and exercise these days? I really enjoy working out and I hope to as long as I can. I mainly run, but I don't know how safe that is, so I may switch to walking at an incline.
Happy Halloween!
Mystikal

Working I work full-time right now, but I'm hoping DH and I can work out a way for me to SAH once the baby comes. If I have to go back to work my mom will babysit, but I would still rather be the one with my baby all day, y'know?
Wrighty I've been walking five times a week and doing some light weight work, but that's it. I just try not to get too overheated or anything. I'm going to ask my doctor on Wednesday at my appt what is okay and what isn't. You might want to check www.fitpregnancy.com. :)
Wrighty26 I'm right there with you on the exercise thing I'm also calling my DR. this Am..... Hoping to get an apt. this week or next.!!
I had some cramping this am I'm hoping that it's normal ?? it was right before I was to get up.
Mystikal
10-31-2005, 06:44 AM
klav the cramping is definitely normal. I will be six weeks tomorrow and I'm still getting it occasionally-usually when I have to pee really bad, but sometimes just out of the blue. Your uterus (sp?) is going to stretch quite a bit in the next few weeks to make room for the baby so while it's unsettling it's nothing to worry about. Good luck getting an appointment with your doc! :)
kellyann1972
10-31-2005, 07:00 AM
For the running... my friend is a huge runner and in the second trimester her doc told her to switch to the eliptical machine, lower impact. And I know you have to stop exercising on your back in the 2nd tri too. I mostly walk.
I am so jealous of you ladies who can nap! With a toddler its impossible! Ryan takes one nap so usually I lay down then but its hard to sleep on demand.
Since this is a new job I cant appear tired etc. With Ryan people I work with must have known cause I was such a slacker (I didnt like the job much anyway!)

We are big blabber mouths -- DH's mom, dad, stepdad, stepmom, siblings, siblings' spouses, siblings' girlfriends, and his sister's random friend from church all know because they were all at lunch yesterday when we announced it. (I made the friend from church promise to keep it a secret until we're ready to make a church-wide announcement.)
We've also told 4 of our friends, and will tell my family on Thursday. Oh, and I'm having lunch with another friend on Friday, so I will tell her then. Oh, and one of our neighbors knows, and I bet he told his family. Oh, and DH called our former pastor (also a friend of his) the day after we got the BFP.
So, basically, the whole freaking world will know within a week of our BFP.
What are you all eating? Have your eating habits changed since you found out? I was eating a ton of junk last week, and actually figured that's why I was feeling so crappy. Since I found out we're having a baby, all I've wanted is protein, iron, and calcium. Okay, and Twizzlers. But mostly healthy stuff, which I can usually not convince myself to eat.
I have not really change anything yet but no more sushi for me and of course drinks... more water...
I soooo wanna tel my girlfriends but DH asked me to wait till after the first apt. with the DR.
So I assume you all stopped temping now right?

Actually in a way people will know soon. My brother called to ask us to go out like "Old Times" in Manhattan, we all lived close to each other up there. Well ... I am known to enjoy a few and smoke when I drink so within 10 minutes if I donthave a dirnk EVERYONE will know. Really thoats how everyone knows I am PG I stop smoking and drinking. (how sad huh!)
As for eating usually the first tri I am all about carbs. For two weeks all I ate for dinner was 3 scrambled eggs and a big a $$ egg bagel with real butter. My DH thought I was nuts. This time I am trying to be really good. I never gain more than 20 lbs with each PG no matter what I eat which is odd I guess in a way I am lucky. (which is why they thought I had IUGR but I swear I eat)
Since being PG with Ryan I can not eat shell fish no idea why but I hate it and I loved lobster and shrimp. I also cant eat much red meat, I will eat a burger or fillet thats it. Its really weird what PG does to your body. Cravings and aversions are no joke.

Got my numbers back...
13 DPO - 107.8
18 DPO - 2,382
I said "I assume that's good" and the nurse said "That's FANTASTIC". Since I assumed doubling every 48-72 hours, that number is way higher than I figured.
I have an appt. with the nurse now on Nov. 7th, probably just to go over basic things. Then I still have the U/S appt. on the 18th.
We were going to wait until after the 18th to tell people, but now we've decided to tell the folks tonight, and other people as necessary.
Eating... I really haven't changed my habits much, but I'm drinking LOTS of water. I will really miss my sushi - that was one of my tasty treats. Funny about the red meat thing... I LOVE steak, but I have had no taste for red meat at all. Chicken, especially grilled, sounds great though. :)

Wow Lizard that awesome!
I made my first Dr. appt today for Dec 7th. I think I'll be about 9- 9.5 weeks along at that point (if all goes well!). It feels like forever, but really it's only 5 weeks away!
As for eating - I'm relatively healthy as it is, so I plan to continue eating healthy as much as possible. I think I need more calcium, more than anything, so I might try to add some to my diet!
Does anyone NOT feel hungry? I don't feel sick or anything, I'm just not hungry and when I do eat- I feel full right away...

hi ladies,
i'd like to join this group, but am worried that i'm having a m/c. i just got my bfp on 10/27. last night, 10/30, i started having some heavy bleeding with some small clots being passed when i would go to the bathroom. i stopped after a couple of hours, but noticed that same thing this morning when i went to the bathroom. i went in for a beta this morning and am waiting to hear about the results. my boobs are still really sore, so maybe there's still some hope.
i hope that i'll be with you all until july! congrats to all the bfp's and hope you all have terrific pregnancies!
Wrighty26 yes I feel the same way not really hungry and I'm full when I do eat.

Yup that sounds about right!

:o Great googlely moogelely I missed a lot...I'll try to catch up...
Work I counsel (mental health) kids/teenagers with medical and psychological diagnoses (like Diabetes & Depression) and their families. I absolutely cannot afford to look/feel tired but I do both especially on Fridays. Morning sickness is an absolute no-no for me since I'll have deviant kids in my office doing god knows what while I'm puking so I'm pretty nervous about that.
Food I just started eating healthier and really trying to get my fruits and veggies. The only thing I've even slightly craved has been dairy. I'm also laying off the sweet tea and switched to decaf tea in the mornings. Oh, and I'm drinking a ton of water but that is mostly because I feel constantly dehydrated.
Gender prediction Chinese Chart says boy, acupuncturist says boy, DH and I both want boy :D
ShelbyMay That is very typical for non-risk patients. The standard at my obgyn is 8-10 weeks and I'm going in at around 8 1/2 weeks (and I'm high risk).
icedwhite Welcome to the thread and sending you sticky vibes...I hope you'll be with us in July too.
Wrighty I felt like that in the beginning but am back to normal now. Now I eat like I normally do...just with extra gas :o
Lizard Awesome numbers! Congratulations! Feels nice to have a little extra assurance huh?
Klav I've stopped temping. The golden rule of charting is that once you get a BFP you put the thermometer away. I temped a couple times since then when I had night sweats to make sure my temp wasn't dropping. And I haven't gotten indigestion yet but I'm sure I will.

thank you for the well wishes!
my beta came back at 1220 at 14/15 DPO (i'm not quite sure of the o date). the nurse said this is high, but of course i'm going back tomorrow for another beta to see if the number keeps going up.
i hope to still be with you all! we've been trying for a year and a half and i was on my 3rd round of clomid. hope to have some good news in a couple of days!
OK just got back from Apt. and I've been at work for about 40 min.
So everything I think is OK they did there rutine of exams... wee what fun.. gave me a refill perscrip on Progesterone and prenat. vitamins.
and a lab sheet to have blood work done. My next apt. is in 4 weeks and I just noticed I made it for the day we are flying to Fla will have to change that!:p
so .... I have 8 more weeks till I'm out of the clear of a MC. fingers crossed everything is fine and works this time!!:D
They also gave me a bag of stuff but I have not had a chance to look in it. it's sitting in my car.
Hi ladies. I've been lurking around here hoping, hoping, hoping to be able to join you soon but in the meantime I have a question. For those of you who have experienced cramping during the early stages of your pregancy, how intense would you say the sensation was (let's figure a pain scale of 1-10)? Also, how many days/weeks did it go on for? Thanks for the info!

I have only had it once in the Am for about 20 min at the most and I would say about a 6, because I generally don't get cramps... hope this helps:rolleyes:

I've been having cramps for a while... basically they feel like O pain to me. They don't really feel like regular AF cramps for some reason. I think because they've mostly been isolated on the left side of my abdomen, with some on the right. None of the pain has been like double-over pain, but a few twinges have caught me by surprise. :) I get them all day long, but they seem to be more noticeable in the mornings.
Exercise - I've been working out for a long time so this is important to me. Prior to pregnancy, I'd do about 45 minutes on the elliptical doing intervals, maybe some more time on the bike if I wasn't exhausted, and also some weights (alternating upper and lower body each time). I did that every other day, and the days in between I'd try to go for a walk outside. Now I've been doing about 30-45 minutes on the bike, and I've lowered my weight but I'm still doing that. I'm also walking on the off-days, at least until it gets too cold and slippery outside. I tried doing the elliptical but the motion really hurt my boobs. :( I've also noticed I get tired way faster than I did. I'm going to talk to the nurse about exercise in more detail at my appt. on Monday.
Well, we told the folks yesterday. :D My mother kept asking me if I was kidding, because it was Halloween. She freaked out for a good, long time. This is my parents' first grandchild so they're quite excited. DH called his folks and told them too... it's their 4th grandchild but they were just as excited. It was a hectic night. Even though we asked our families not to tell too many people too quickly, I have a feeling everyone knows by now....
Funny how so many of you are feeling dehydrated and wanting to drink water all the time. I'm having the same thing. I'm pretty sure I'm drinking 100 OZ a day by now... mostly water but also some milk and a soda now and then. I feel thirsty ALL the time!

I am so tired today! I have not had any other symptoms, really. By bb's aren't any bigger (or tender), but I do have weird cramping. I fell asleep on the couch last night at 8:15, and it was a struggle to get up this morning.
Eating - I am eating a bit better. Trying to eat more fruits and veggies, and my soda intake has gone to zilch. I did go to the store last night and pick up some Fresca - I love that stuff!
Exercise - before we started our house remodel, I worked out 5 days a week for a couple hours at a time. We suspended our membership until January, so maybe I will begin going again around that time. I will talk to my Dr. about it first, though. There is a Yoga for Preggo women class that I want to take, as well as get in the pool again. I have been trying to walk quite a bit, as well as push-ups and sit-ups. Kind of hard during the rainy season in Oregon, but I am trying!
I am finding that the longer I know about being preggo, the easier it is to not tell anyone. Well, kind of. It is hard when my mother calls, but other than that it is pretty easy. We have no family here where we live, and we don't talk with our families that often to begin with. My parents and DH's mother are going to be ecstatic as this will be their first grandchild. It will be the 6th grandchild for his dad and step-mom, so while they will be happy for us it probably won't be as big a deal.

Lizard how strange! This is my parents first grandchild and DH's parents fourth as well! :)
MMK I had AF like cramps as well as sharper cramps and sometimes they got around a seven, but not too often. Generally they were around a four or so. I'm six weeks today and I may get them once a day now, if that. They have really tapered off in the last week. HTH!
Well, ladies, my first doctor appointment is tomorrow morning at ten. Since DH can't get off from work my mom is coming with me. I was freaking myself out this morning thinking "what if something is wrong" and bad thoughts like that. I actually had a breakdown at my desk this morning. :( I'm feeling a bit better now, but still very anxious. *sigh*

MMKFor those of you who have experienced cramping during the early stages of your pregancy, how intense would you say the sensation was (let's figure a pain scale of 1-10)? Also, how many days/weeks did it go on for? Hmmm. Like Lizard they felt sort of like O pains and isolated to the left side (side I ovulated/implanted on). The longest it lasted consistently was 2 days and I haven't gotten it since. On a scale from 1-10 I would say they were a 3/4. Last night though I got a very strong cramp on the right that made me double over. It was immediately after I stood up quickly. But it lasted like 10 seconds.
I think I am going to cry. I seriously have to crawl my way through my day at work. I have to actually be present and on top of things for about 80% of my day and it's hard. I have a day off Friday and I don't know how I'm going to make it through full weeks at work. I'm very grateful it is the holiday season and we'll be getting more days off. Also, I'm a freak. I felt normal (no symptoms at all) for like 3 hours today and I was letting my mind go in the miscarriage zone. I have to stop that. Even though I complain, I wouldn't give up this baby for the world!

I don't know. I have never met with this doc before as my old doc moved to Florida in June, so I don't know what her procedure is. I really would like to get one just to ease my mind because they really can't tell anything without one, except that my uterus is enlarged, right? They can't actually tell if the baby is okay...I know it would ease my mind a bit.

MMK - I had pretty bad AF-like cramps last Friday for a few hours. I'd say the cramps were about a 7. They haven't returned since...which of course makes me paranoid! I do feel twinges every now and then though, and my back aches like nothing I've felt before...Good luck! I hope you join us soon :D

Hey ladies,
"Morning sickness" has set in. I threw up 11 times in the first 6 hours of my day, and twice more in the next 3 hours. I tried to tough it out, but after the 11th time, I had my DH call my doctor's office. They called in a prescription that will hopefully help me. Unfortunately, the pharmacy is backed up and I can't get the prescription for at least another hour.
The upside is that I was able to leave work after the 9th time (one of the good things about working for my family). I went ahead and told my parents the news this morning when I started to realize what kind of day it was going to be, and they are very happy and excited. I also told my brother and SIL, and they seemed excited, too.
I napped off and on for about 3 hours, and then finally felt well enough to try getting out of bed. I think I've been out of bed for a good 20 minutes now, sipping ginger ale, and feeling a little better. I am relieved, because, honestly, I was getting really bored in there all by myself.

ShelbyMay I am so sorry m/s has hit you so badly so soon :( That just sounds miserable. Its good you work for your family so I'm sure they'll be very understanding. I guess one bright side is that m/s indicates a more solid pregnancy (higher progesterone causes m/s).
Mystikal I hope you get an u/s tomorrow to help ease you mind. I so very much wish I could get one early. If not maybe they'll run bloodwork that will confirm that everything is o.k. How embarrassing would it have been if the president saw you sleeping!
Wrighty I forgot to add that I am very jealous of your growing bussoms. I am an A and haven't grown a bit. I didn't get anything from puberty...I better get something now!

I've been having nausea, fatigue, my boobs are big, sore, and have veins all over them.
I don't really recognize anyone from when I was actively TTC, so here's a little background (crossposted from my LJ):
Louie and I have been married a little over 2 years (Aug. 2, 2003). We started TTC right away, and got pg in Dec. 2003. Then I miscarried a few weeks later right before Christmas. I was devastated. That was followed soon after by two chemical pregnancies. TTC became very stressful, so there were times we were taking breaks, then would start again, I'd get stressed, and we'd take another break--sort of every other cycle. I didn't have any more positive HPT results, even when we timed it really well and my charts showed I was Oing. We got a referral to an RE, but we ended up not following through with that because just charting was stressing me out, and I didn't want my stress levels to get more severe. Eventually we stopped TTC altogether. We haven't made a conscious effort to get pg in close to a year, I guess, but we've been pretty lax about avoiding as well (using withdrawal rather than abtaining).
Other pertinent info--I quit my job about a month ago, and my last day of insurance was Oct. 31. I'm scrambling for a new job/insurance now. Not sure when my first appt. will be.
sophiadp by law your company is suppose to offer you there insurance for at least 6 monthes after you leave. you have to pay for it but, at least you have it. I did that when I left one of my pervoius jobs. I for got what they call it but there is a word for it?

I was offered Cobra as well as the option to get on DH's insurance (we worked at the same place), but I declined because the premiums were so high plus I thought I'd have a job by now. I just found out from one of CC's resident HR experts, dionysia, that I have up to 30 days after my coverage expires to get on DH's insurance, so I'm going to get on it as soon as he gets back from a business trip (he gets back tomorrow night-so really I have to wait till Friday), and I'm also going to keep looking for a job.

Hi Sophie and WELCOME! I am so glad you got your BFP this month!!!
Alot of OBs wont do an u/s til 20 weeks. I will have one at 6 weeks, 8 weeks and then 12 and then 18. After than depends on how the baby is growing. With Connor I had one every week from 19 weeks on. I used to think it would be great to have so many but now I just wish I had no complications and only had one!!!!
Cause I am crazy I rented a doppler with Ryan. If calmed my nerves alot. I was able to reassure myself listening to the HB plus I taped it and sent it to my parents. I think I paid $25/month. BUt like Isaid I am a wack a doo!
OK I am off to hunt down Halloween Candy. :-)

Congrats MMK! I called my OB on Monday. I got my first BFP (but didn't believe it) on Thursday night-- I waited till I got the digital "pregnant" to call. I don't think it REALLY matters if your OB waits until 8-10 weeks for your first appointment.
Welcome Sophia! I vaguely remember you from the WC... Nothing like a life changing event to bring on ANOTHER life changing event!
Mystikal - Sorry there was no u/s-- but it's very good news that you like your OB!
Icedwhite - I think I forgot to congratulate you on your super high betas yesterday-- that's awesome!
Kellyann - Hmmm I MIGHT consider renting a doppler. I think I would OBSESSED though!
I have a feeling this back pain I've got is sticking around. It feels like I've pulled my back out! I'm hoping this is normal...I also have been feeling the strangest pulling sensation in my lower abdomen region the last couple of nights while I've been lying in bed relaxing. I hope it's the uterus stretching out and not anything else! I almost wish I had more symptoms so I could believe that I am actually pregnant... (I think I should be careful what I wish for though!)

Welcome officially MMK. I hear ya on the freaking out. It does get a little better but you still hyperanalyse everything. To answer your question, I got my BFP on a Saturday and called on Monday. I have a different history though and needed to get betas drawn right away.
Wrighty Do you know if you have a tilted uterus? I've heard back pain is common because the uterus is closer to the back than the front.
Mystikal ARGH! for no u/s until 20 weeks! I can imagine hearing the heartbeat will be completely satisfying though. After all the baby doesn't look like much in the first u/s' anyway.
ShelbyMay Thinking of you and hope you've been able to stay away from the toilet.
So I had a nice full day of feeling completely queasy today. So much so that I had to keep swallowing to make sure everything stayed down. I half wish for m/s and half don't. At least I will really feel pregnant if I have m/s.

Soulmate-- You know I was told that I do have a tilted uterus, way back in college by a NP-- but it's never been brought up again. So who knows-- it could be that! My back pain could also be attributed to over-exerting myself at the gym on Tuesday. I've taken a couple of days off and it definitely isn't as sore. Though, it mainly bothers me at night--when I'm really tired and cranky!
