I am being a worry bug. I would be thrilled if I were prego but we are not trying right now. I am on the pill and during the week of my period, I had to take a z-pac. Do you think there is much chance of me being prego?? I am worried about this because I am well into another pack of pills and I don't want that to harm my baby if I am prego. Thanks for any input you wonderful ladies have.

I doubt you have anything to worry about -- If it was during your period, then the BCP that you were taking that week were probably placebo pills, anyway, and not actual birth control.

I agree with ShelbyMay. I did have a girlfriend who got pregnant twice while on b/c pills and anitbiotics, BUT she wasn't having her period at the time.

This happened to a good girlfriend of mine. She has a baby girl.

Didn't happen to me but did happen to my aunt. Dr.'s usually tell patients not to take antibiotics and the pil together..the Antibiotics decreases the affect of the pill.

Actually, they tell patients to use a secondary form of birth control (ie: a condom).

Thanks so much for all of your feedback. The only reason I did not use another form of BC was because it was during the week of my period and I thought that it would not be a problem. Then I just started to worry about it. I am not worrying because I would be in any way sad. In fact, I would be THRILLED. My FI and would be happier if things waited until after our wedding but are both counting down the seconds until we can have a baby. Thanks again everyone. I will let you all know what happens next week when AF is supposed to be here.

Just FYI, even if you were preggo, your pills wouldn't hurt the baby anyway. Don't worry about it too much!

Not all antibiotics affect the BCP. Here are some articles explaining this:

MedicineNet (http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=17192)
