How do you figure out what is "your age"? When you go through your closet do you edit for your age? Do you buy classics and update trends for your decade (ie; 30's, 40's, 50's) or do you just wear what you love?

I'm 32, and while I do wear what I love, I mainly stick to classics. I do buy some trendy bags and jewelry, just to mix it up.

I edit my wardrobe regularly, but I wouldn't say I edit for my age. Most of my clothes are more classic than trendy, but there are some things I just won't buy b/c of my age, like "club clothes". I don't go to clubs and I can't think of where I would be that such attire would be appropriate, so I just don't buy it. I have some "going out" clothes, but that just isn't the same for me now as it was before. I have also avoided those really short skirts, b/c I don't personally think it would be a good look for me, I couldn't wear it to work, and I don't generally wear skirts on the weekends at all. As for trendy stuff, I stick with what I like, and that usually is self-editing - ie. I don't personally care for fur anything, so I don't own any, even though it's always "in" in one way or another.
I think the boundary and editing was more blunt when I transitioned from college to 'real life', but now it isn't as much of an issue for me.

I don't shop based on age, but i do shop based on work or fun. my work clothes are mostly suits, with the occasional sweater set or blazer.
I am 30 and i feel more comfortable in simple, classic clothes. I have learned that it's much better for me to spend $100 on one beautiful cashmere sweater than 5 $20 cotton ones because I get tired of the trends very easily.
