My baby is 3 months old today! She has adjusted so well and is really healthy. This is my first puppy and I am just so happy to have her in my life. DH and I brough her home at 5 weeks old and she was just 3.5 pounds. She now weighs 15 pounds already! I guess she's eating just fine huh? She is doing well with her crate training and we are still working on the potty training. Sidenote: If anyone has any good suggestions on this I'd appreciate it. I take her out all the time when I'm home, but sometimes as soon as we get back in she'll go on the floor even though she's gone already several times outside. I just don't get it.

Anyway, here's my baby! I just have to brag and show her off since it's her birthday.:D Here she is at 5 weeks:

Aww, so cute! Glad to here the crate training is going well.

When she potties again inside, do you take her immediately back outside?

When I'm lucky enough to catch her going inside I do take her right back out. It's so strange though. We have a run for her and sometimes I'll let her out on it and see her go potty and then she'll come in and do it again on the kitchen floor. It boggles my mind!

Thanks so much! I always had cats. This is my first puppy and although she is soooo much more work than my kitties are I am having a blast with her. She gives so much love and every day I look forward to going home just to see how excited she gets when I first see her. I know I sound corny, but it's true.:)

This is my first puppy and I am just so happy to have her in my life.

I totally know how you feel! Everyday I am more and more amazed at how I feel about this dog. It is so weird because I never thought I would be one of "those people."

I'm glad she is doing well. That first year, I celebrated the 10th of every month because I was so happy (and proud) at how he was thriving. It felt like such a huge accomplishment. Congratulations. She is beautiful!

Aren't huskies just the BEST?!

Sasha is beautiful! My DH said that he had a terrible time with Chewy in the beginning, but he is really good with the potty thing now (as he should be, he's 5)

I wonder if her little bladder just isn't totally matured yet. It seems like she's doing the right thing by going outside... but then she has to go again inside?

Maybe just keep her outside after the first time a little longer in case she has to go again right away or something.

Housebreaking can be so frustrating. Does she ever go in her crate?

IrishMeg, I never thought I'd be such a dog person either!

Golightly, I love huskies and was thrilled that we were able to get one! Are they really as stubborn as the books say they are? She is still very nippy and chews EVERYTHING! As for potty training, she used to go in her crate but rarely has accidents in there anymore. It's mostly on the carpet or in the kitchen. I try to keep her outside and watch her go pee at least twice before bringing her in, but sometimes she comes in and minutes later goes again.

ahh, She is so sweet and I love Sasha's eyes! My childhood dog was a husky/shepard mix and had those same beautiful blue eyes, I loved them!

Yes, Chewy is just as stubborn as they say. Things often come down to a battle of the wills with him. I didn't know him when he was Sasha's age, but I think he was pretty "mouthy" and nippy too. DH said he handled by withdrawing his hands or whatever and ceasing all interaction until Chewy stopped grabbing with his mouth. We still have a chair that bears the scars of Chewy teething. Mouthiness and chewing are breed traits. He's grown out of hit with our help.

He's also a total clown and I swear he has a highly developed sense of comedic timing.

We were sitting in bed, watching TV last night and Chewy was on his own bed on the floor. DH cracked a lame joke and just at the perfect time, Chewy lets out this huge groan/sigh... We just cracked up.

We had another couple over to celebrate Halloween and she sat on her husband's lap (like to squish him as a joke). Chewy liked that idea...

ETA: How's the potty training going? If she's still going in the house right after going inside, it might be a good idea to ask your vet about it. She might have a little bladder infection or something.

Hey everyone! DH and I took Sasha to the park this weekend and got a few good pictures. Here's opne of her "talking back" to dad:

Golightly, Chewy is HUGE! How much does he weigh? He's got beautiful coloring. As for our potty training, I must say that she has made remarkable improvement. We have had very few accidents in the house lately. We have a run so we can safely let her got outside and she is starting to go to the door whenever she wants out. I think the only time we had an accident this past weekend was our own fault for not paying close enough attention to her signals so I think things are progressing.

By the way, what part of MA are you from? I was born and raised there.

Hi!

Chewy weighs about 80 pounds these days. He is really big for a Siberian, and is considered to be outside the breed standard. Oh well, no Westminster for him...

I guess most Huskies are supposed to top out at around 65 pounds, with the females being a little smaller.

Miss Sasha is just precious by the way... She is so being a husky in that first picture!

I believe Sasha's mom is about 50 pounds and her dad is 75 so she should be somewhere in between.

As for her first picture, I have soooo many of her "talking back" like that. She's such a little brat sometimes. Especially when we reprimand her. She always barks like she doesn't agree. It's too funny!:D

She is!:D We got her at 3.5 pounds, she weighed 8.5 at her first vet visit, 14at her second visit and now I bet she will be at least 20 this Wednesday. The funniest thing is watching her trying to get under the couch like she used to be able to do. She gets so frustrated. It cracks me up!:D

She's so big (and beautiful ;) )

Our black lab used to back talk all the time. He doesn't do it so much anymore, though.

Yeah, the back talk goes a little something like this:

Me: No Sasha
Sasha: Ruff!
Me: No bites Sasha
Sasha: Ruff Ruff!
Me: Get down Sasha
Sasha: Ruff Ruff Ruff
Me: Good girl Sasha
Sasha: Wags tail:rolleyes:

Well, Sasha went to the vet yesterday and at almost 15 weeks she is now 19 pounds. The vet said she has a great disposition and she sat really well for her shots and was sociable with the other dogs there so I think things are going pretty good. :)
