I've been searching for a new perfume for the past week (my Flower by Kenzo got knocked off the vanity and shattered) and can't find one I like. I like spicier scents but not overpowering, some musk, some vanilla, do not like flowery or green.
Can anyone recommend some scents for me to try?
Scents I like
Donna Karan (original in the black/gold bottle)
Flower by Kenzo
Angel by Thierry Mugler
Chanel No. 5
Clinique Elixir
Scents I tried and didn't like
Lovely by SJP
DK Cashmere Mist
Any other Chanel (Coco, etc.)
Laura Mercier scents
Victoria's Secret scents
Vera Wang
Estee Lauder scents
THANKS!

I have Burberry "Touch" and Armani Mania for 'stronger' scents - though the Burberry is definitely more "musky" than the Armani. My summer scent (which I'm still wearing) is D&G "Light Blue", but it's sort of citrus-y?

I also have Burberry "Touch" which I use during fall and winter. However, my new obsession is Prada - love that stuff!

I just thought of another suggestion that might be great for you. My best friend wears Dior's Hypnotic Poison (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P4484&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=1073), and it's really great. :)
Hypnotic Poison
Mysterious and mesmerizing, extravagant and bewitching, Hypnotic Poison is a magic potion for modern times. Audacious and profoundly feminine, the fragrance is an unsettling harmony, a fusion of contrasting olfactory facets.
Notes:
Jasmine, Bitter Almond, Vanilla.
Style:
Intensely bewitching; creates a mood of mystery and enchantment.

I recently sampled Fresh's Sake and Sugar Blossom scents (at Sephora) and loved both of those.
Sake Eau De Parfum
A Sensual Ritual...
Warm ripe peaches, bright langsat fruit, exotic lotus and osmanthus flowers combine to create the rich, velvety scent of Sake Eau de Parfum.
* top: langsat fruit, grapefruit, ginger
* heart: white peach absolute, lotus flower, transparent lily of the valley
* base: osmathus, vanilla, musk, white sandlewood
* 50 ml/1.75oz, 100ml/3.6oz
$50.00, $75.00

Sugar Blossom Eau de Parfum is a vibrant, sheer, floral exploration of Fresh Sugar Eau de Parfum. This flirtatious combination of spring blossoms and sweet citrus notes merge with caramel, vanilla and creamy amber, creating a modern, sheer floral that is clean, alluring and addictive.
* top: bergamot, grapefruit, Italian lemon, litsea cubeba, basil
* heart: masdevallia nectar (white orchid), sheer magnolia, sugared passion fruit, transparent jasmine, lily of the valley
* base: caramel, vanilla, marjoram, creamy amber
* 50ml/1.75 fl oz, 100ml/3.4 fl oz
$50.00, $75.00

Sephora has a "Mixed Pinks" scent sampler for $25 to benefit breast cancer--that might be a fun way to get a few new scents and see if you'd like to buy larger versions of any of them.
Set includes: .06 oz Sephora Fragrance Pen Peony, .5 oz Calvin Klein Eternity, .7 oz Carolina Herrera 212 Sexy, .17 oz Salvatore Ferragamo Incanto Dream, .17 oz Ines de la Fressange, .33 oz Demeter Sugar Cookie, .14 oz Escada Magnetism, and a .17 oz Marc Jacobs Blush.

I know you said you'd already tried Coco (Chanel), but have you tried Coco Mademoiselle? I have it, and although it's softer than the other Chanel perfumes, it still has a warm, rich smell to it (and I do think there's vanilla in there as well).
If you like single note perfumes, try one from L'Occitane. Amber or Vanilla sound like they'd work for you.

If you like spicy, musky and vanilla you should try Calvin Klein's Obsession. It's an especially nice perfume for fall and winter.
I was going to suggest L'occitane Vanilla as well :) I am burning the incense right now, and it smells absolutely wonderful. It is such a tangible smell.

Krysten, I've been wanting to try L'Occitane's vanilla incense for a while! I had tried the honey before (which smells amazing!) but it was too strong for DH. Is it very strong or smoky-smelling?

Chanel Chance was my wedding perfume. I just love it! :D I'm glad you found something you like. :)
PurpleRose- I would call L'Occitane's Vanilla slighty musky, and very rich, but I wouldn't consider it strong at all. My DH loves it. We use the incense all of the time. It is a very comforting smell, and a very unique Vanilla IMO. HTH!
