Since I live for movies, one of my great loves, I'll start this forum out! Last weekend, we saw Batman Begins which was really fantastic. I think it's the best out of the entire Batman franchise, even though I really enjoyed Michael Keaton's first one in 1989. Christian Bale was absolutely fantastic. I knew when I first heard that he was going to be doing the role that it would be a great fit, and it was! I also loved Morgan Freeman's character. Michael Caine, again, wonderful as Alfred... just so elegantly understated. I love love love Liam Neeson, but he didn't do much for me in this role. I guess I really love him being a good guy and looking devastatingly handsome. ;)
I was thrilled to hear yesterday that they ARE planning a sequel to this prequel, and they have approached Paul Bettany to play the Joker. I was hoping that they wouldn't use the Joker if they did a follow-up, because I really thought that the continuity between this film and the Michael Keaton films was a good idea. Oh well. I'll just be thrilled to see Christian Bale in this role again.
Since everyone has been mentioning the publicity of this film as connected with Katie Holmes... here is a quote from People Magazine: "Holmes, as a crusading DA, fails to register in a pallid part." My husband actually kept looking at people on ET and Access Hollywood and asking "is that the girl who was in Batman?". Kristen Davis and Jennifer Garner were two of his various misses!!

DH & I are planning to go see it this afternoon. EX took the kiddos to see it last week, and they all really enjoyed it.
I've heard the same thing about Katie Holmes--totally forgetable, generic. It's already been announced that she won't be in the sequels, which doesn't surprise me. Batman isn't like Spiderman. He doesn't keep the same GF from film to film, comic to comic, etc.

We loved it too! KH was barely there, I didn't even bother to pay attention to her. Besides, I'm boycotting her FH so she's out by proxy. :)
I really like that it went back the way of the Tim Burton original, dark and sinister and veering more towards "realism" (in a sense). Morgan Freeman and Michael Cain were fantastic.

we just saw it last night and we both really enjoyed it.
Katie was way too young for the part she played but I loved everything else about the movie. The guy that played the doctor at the insane asylum did an awesome job! I can't wait for sequals. :)

I thought it was excellent... SO much better than all the other Batman movies...
I also agree that Katie Holmes was a forgetable part of the movie...

We saw it and I liked it alot, except for the few creepy parts. I could have done without that!
I might be in the minority, but actually like Katie Holmes. I did think her role and Batman's role were to much like Dawson's Creek though.
I agree that Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine were great!

We thought it was fantastic. That's the way Batman should be, dark, sinister, haunted, and serious. The other movies from the 90s were really a watered-down family-friendly version of Batman. I can't wait for the rest of this series to unfold. :D
Oh yeah--I thought Katie Holmes spoke in a monotone for the majority of the movie. You didn't end up feeling anything for her. Liam Neeson just isn't the right person to carry off a villian role like this, although I usually love him. But Chrisitan Bale was PERFECT, and Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were very enjoyable, they really added to the movie and to Bruce Wayne's character, and made it more enjoyable on another level.

DH and I saw it on the IMAX opening weekend. I thought it was wonderful. I always liked the first Batman movie, but I don't think the first one compares to this one.
I was thrilled to hear yesterday that they ARE planning a sequel to this prequel
People keep calling this movie a prequel. This movie idea maybe started out as a prequel, but I don't think it is. IMO, they decided to scrap the first four movies and start over from the beginning. They changed (corrected) things from the first movie, so to me it isn't a prequel, it is a new beginning.

They changed (corrected) things from the first movie, so to me it isn't a prequel, it is a new beginning.I heard the same thing as well. The Batman franchise of the past was created a under a completely different concept and by a totally different creative staff. It has been said that Batman Begins is a new start for the Batman story...hence the name Batman Begins.
My husband and I saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was amazing! I loved this movie! Christian Bale could not have been more perfectly cast as this new, darker Batman. He was phenomenal. Doesn't hurt that he is damn sexy!
Katie didn't bother me as much as I thought she would, but I still couldn't help but see Joey Potter every time she was on the screen. I wish she would stop doing that weird smirk thing with her mouth.
Anyways-I loved this movie and cannot wait for the next one to come out.

I saw this movie and I LOVED it! It answered some many questions...why he chose the bat and why he's so "sneaky, sneaky". I paid $2.25 to see this as a matinee (my popcorn and drink cost twice as much!) and I would've paid $5.00 to see it--and there aren't too many movies I say that about!

Great movie.
Christian Bale is a hottie, despite his continuous issues with his teeth. WTF is up with that?
Katie was totally forgettable.
I do think that Gary Oldman stole the movie a bit with his good-hearted cop.
Too funny seeing Gary as a good guy and Liam as a bad guy!

OH yeah I wasn't expecting Gary Oldman. He was great..he's my fav actor. Of course Christian Bale was just YUMMY!
Have any of you seen him in a movie called Equilibrium? You should, that movie was like The Matrix but ten times better!

I was pleasantly suprised with Batman Begins. I originally went because my husband really wanted to see it, but I ended up really liking it. In fact, we are planning on seeing it again next week at the Drive In when it is playing with War of the Worlds.

We just got back from seeing it, and it was AWESOME! Except for the fact that birds and bats COMPLETELY freak me out (I didn't watch any of the bat scenes - Mark was laughing at me the whole time), I loved it. It was perfect. Funny but serious, dark, and a bit more "realistic" than a lot of super-hero movies. I floored Mark when I told him that I liked it just as much (and maybe a little bit more than) Spiderman. And Christian Bale was incredible!!!!

This is EXACTLY what I said to Mark tonight when we were on our way home.
I loved this movie! It was sooo good. I didn't like any of the other Batman movies, but this was amazing.
And Christian Bale . . . yum! ;)

We just saw this earlier today and loved it!
A big ditto to every other accolade in this post. I also have to say I heart Cillian Murphy and his eyes. The Scarecrow is one of DH's favorite Batman villains.

I LOVED Batman Begins. I think it was the best Batman movie that's been made.
As for the sequel, I've read that Justin Timberlake is being considered for the role of Two-Face. JT is such a hottie! I'd love to see a good movie like thatwith him in it.

Okay so I hated this movie...ha, just kidding. Just wanted to see if I could type that while keeping a straight face...couldn't do it.
This is one of the best movies ever. The words that come to mind are hot, hot, hot. Nothing sexier than a dark, brooding, chisled jawed super hero! Caine & Freeman were just hilarious with the little comebacks. I just love the part where Alfred says "what's the point of doing all the bloody push ups if you can't even lift a log" I was just rolling.
Great movie all around!
And it was really cute when my hubby was driving home like a maniac pretending to be batman!
