I can't remember if this was part of the marathon, but I just saw the Christian music one. Cartman's scams are great.

OK, I have to say that I thought last night's episode was pretty weak. I think "Day After Tomorrow" is a lame film to parody (and not done all that well, either), and I thought all of the Katrina parody stuff was really heavy-handed and just not funny. Plus, what was up with Kyle's "Jew gold"? That just crossed a line for me, and I've never been offended like that by South Park, so obviously I have a pretty high tolerance for offensiveness. After all the hype about the new season, I was disappointed.

Considering they had 6 months to come up with new ideas, I couldn't agree more! Where was the sense of humor? I didn't get the Jew gold either. I've never heard of this before, but those guys are known to offend people. Hopefully the show will be back to its funny ways next week.

We didn't see it, but my BIL was just talking about it today and said we HAD to see it because it was one of the funniest ones he'd seen. But, he IS odd, so... ;)

I think it helps if you saw "The Day After Tomorrow" - DH did and so he got all of those jokes, which made the whole thing a lot funnier for him. On the other hand, I never saw "The Core," but I loved the Cartman vs. the hippies episode. So I still say that it was weak. :p

I LOVE that! DH STILL uses that line with me! ;)
I also like this show, but wish it wasn't on Wednesday nights! I'm already watching "Invasion" and I miss the next showing at midnight or so because I'm time-taping either "Ghosthunters" or "Mythbusters" I tape SP later in the week.

I loved the Taco Flavored Kisses episode! Every now and then the song pops into my head and I start singing. Maybe it's because I hate Jennifer Lopez so much.
Hey, those guys don't care who they offend. If they can offend someone they will. That's why I love them.

ITA!!! :D Even if their insults hit close to home, I still laugh! :D
One of my favorite episodes was the one where Officer Barbrady temporarily resigned and deputized Cartman. DH loved it, too. I found him boxers that year with Cartman on them, dressed up as a police man, saying "Respect my uh-thor-uh-tay!" :p
Anyway, I love how they did the "Cops" spoof. Cartman is at Kenny's door and the father is listing all the people who live in the house. Cartman turns to the camera and says, "Poor people tend to live in clusters." It STILL cracks me up! :D

"Poor people tend to live in clusters."
Cartman has some of the best lines. My DH likes to walk around saying "You're breaking my balls" or "What side dishes will we be having with these waffles?"

WOW! Matt and Trey did a great job with The Return of Chef. I loved how they kept Isaac Hayes as the voice of Chef. Sorry to see Chef go, but he's with the Super Adventure Club now.

They are awesome!
Ya know, most of the time, people try to cover up their true feelings with pretty language, but Matt and Trey aren't afraid to call a spade a spade... then make fun of him!

No. Isacc Hayes left the show because of the Tom Cruise/Scientology episode, saying he is against religious intollerance. Well, Hayes is also a Scientologist! Basicly, Matt and Trey came out and said that he didn't seem mind when they made fun of every other religion out there in the world, but when they make fun of his religion, suddenly he's offended and leaves the show?
They were making fun of Hayes!

I thought Issac Hayes died a year or 2 ago.
Anyway, too bad about Chef.

"South Park" return of Chef scores big ratings (http://entertainment.tv.yahoo.com/entnews/va/20060323/114318503800.html)
Thu Mar 23,11:23 PM ET
Hayes, 63, himself a follower of Scientology, said last week that he was leaving the show because of its "inappropriate ridicule" of religion. Although he made no mention of it at the time, a spokeswoman said the "last straw" for Hayes was an episode last November lampooning Scientology and its celebrity adherents, including actor Tom Cruise.
Comedy Central then abruptly pulled a scheduled repeat of the episode, titled "Trapped in the Closet," and series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker issued a statement suggesting the Church of Scientology was behind that move.
Sources close to the show said the rerun was canceled after Cruise threatened to boycott promotion of his upcoming film, "Mission: Impossible III," for sister studio Paramount Pictures. A spokesman for Cruise denied that charge.
Stone and Parker fanned the flames further with Wednesday's episode, which alluded to their parody of Scientology last fall without making explicit mention of the church.
In the episode, Chef falls under the influence of the "Super Adventure Club," a secretive group that worships pedophilia and brainwashes its members into becoming child molesters.
And from Monday on Yahoo:
Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060313/ap_en_tv/people_isaac_hayes)
By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer Mon Mar 13, 6:13 PM ET
NEW YORK -
Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.
Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.
...
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

Has anyone seen the new Jonas Brothers episode of South Park? OMG, so hilarious. I was dying. By the time they got to the giant, fire-breathing Mickey razing downtown Denver I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe. Awesome!

My DH worked on the Jonas Bros. 3D movie and he was cracking up over this episode. He said that all the guys in effects on the movie had some very, ahem, creative names for the white foam that is sprayed on the audience.

That's exactly what I asked my DH-- there can't be any way they actually DID that, right?! Well, yes they did. And all the guys working on the effects thought it looked exactly like what South Park suggested.
