My Dh and I will be in Palm Springs next month. Does anyone recommend places to eat, shop, visit? We already have a place to stay. What will the weather be like, how should I dress? We will also have our 2 year old with us. I haven't been to Palm Springs since college Spring break so I am excited to see what it looks like.

I bumped up this thread because we will be in Palm Springs again next month. I have some questions....
I am looking for places to shop? Cute boutiques?
And how hot will it be in the beginning of June?
Has anyone stayed at the La Quinta Resort?
How far is Temecula from Palm Springs and is it worth it to drive to the wineries there?
Thanks for your help!

Hi! I live in the area, so I thought I'd answer your questions.
For places to shop, your best bet is probably El Paseo in Palm Desert. Lots of cute stores there.
Temperature wise, when during the month will you be here? At the beginning, temps will most likely be in the low 100s. But if you're coming at the end of the month, they could very likely be in the 110s. This week we're hovering right between 97 and 102.
I haven't stayed at the La Quinta Resort, but from what I understand it is fabulous!
Temecula is about 1 1/2 hours from Palm Springs. I haven't been wine tasting there, so I can't be of much help on that, sorry.
Enjoy your stay!

I don't know much but a few things about PS.
Wineries in Temecula. If you enjoy wine I would highly recommend a day trip over. My favorite winery is Ponte (they have an awesome restaurant), Maurice Currie (best baked brie bread) & Wilson Creek (their known for their champagne), Thorton is good too.
What I like about the wineries is they are all on the same road.
There our outlets near PS in Cabazon. They have alot of high end designers. Do a search I think they are called Premium Outlets Cabazon.
There is a big casino called Morongo (next to the outlets).

Have you been to Joshua Tree on a previous trip? I think it's a really incredible place and well worth a visit if you're in Palm Springs.
Several of my girlfriends stay at La Quinta regularly and really love it. I've heard nothing but good things.
The last time I was in Palm Springs we had some good Mexican food at Las Casuelas Terraza, which is in the middle of their downtown area. We also wandered through a bunch of cute shops, although I can't remember any of the names. Here's a good article on shopping in Palm Springs (http://directories.thedesertsun.com/fe/shopping/search.asp) that might be helpful.

Hi! I'm going to be in Palm Springs in mid-July (I don't even want to know what the temp will be!) and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places to stay. We're probably looking for a place around $150/night or less. Thanks!

In mid-July you should be able to score a great deal on a room. One of my favorite places to stay is the Spa Casino Resort--it's right downtown in the middle of everything and has great mineral-water springs jacuzzis and pool.

It's kinda hard to get to the restaurant, but if you have time definitely eat at the JW MARRIOTT RESORT & SPA's/Desert Springs Resort's Lakeview Restaurant (http://www.desertspringsresort.com/palm-desert-restaurants/fine-dining.asp) "Lakeview showcases a lavish Sunday Brunch as well as stunning dinner buffets on Friday and Saturday nights." Saturday night buffet is awesome!

you can also take a gondola ride

We also like eating at The Falls Prime Steakhouse (http://www.thefallsprimesteakhouse.com) in Palm Springs and ordering their prime rib. They also have smoking martinis.

I'm heading to Palm Springs this coming weekend for some heat and sun!!
(It has been chilly and foggy here all summer so we have taken to escaping to the desert every few weeks!)
I would love to hear recommendations for restaurants, and places to shop - especially good thrift shops and mid-century/modern furniture.
