Af hasn't been for a visit in a loooong while. Today is CD159 and tomorrow I start 5 days of 5mg of provera. I'm a bit nervous just thinking of what AF will be like though. After 160 days, will the flow be heavier? cramps worse? I did a search and read all of the threads that came up, but only one mentioned what AF was like after provera, and most of the women cycles less than 100 days. TIA!

The cycle that I had that was over 150 days and ended with provera was heavier and longer than my normal period. Nothing unbearable, but there was definitely lots of lining to shed.

Good luck to you!

I used provera a few times to end cycles longer than 150 days. The AF's were heavier than AF's while on the pill, but not as heavy as my pre-BCP AF's. My provera AF's also didn't last as long, maybe 3 days max?
I think this is one of those cases where every woman's body is different. My dr explained to me that with my body and my PCOS, it was just like everything was dormant after a while, which was why i didn't have such an abundance of lining to shed.

good luck!

Thanks Jenny and Red! I guess I don't really have anything to worry about, that helps a lot. Thanks for the luck, and Red, I'm a Canuck too!

I had to take Provera on 2 different accasions, once when I was near CD140 and the other was near CD60.

It wan't unbearable. I was pretty cranky though.

Yolanda, I'm noticing that I'm a bit irritable, but since I've heard about so many people being in this situation and I knew it was a possibility, I'm trying to not snap at DH too much, lol. Other than that, I've been very crampy. I didn't miss that part of being "normal." ;)

haha!! it's so true! I used to always put off taking progesterone as long as possible since I got so used to being "free"! I hated getting AF. And actually, this past spring/summer I took up Aquafit, and decided to stretch out for as long as possible not taking progesterone to not have to deal with swimming/period mess, and I got pregnant on CD 110. GO figure! :D

Red_Canuck, that's the perfect way to get PG, right? ;) How cool. Were you able to continue Aquqfit throughout your pregnancy? That sounds like fun!

Last night i took my last provera pill, now I'm just waiting... which is nothing new. Today is CD165.

After I took the Provera, AF usually showed up within 3-5 days.

Hey T!!!! I have been thinking about you tons and know you will be TTC very soon. Do you think marathon training cause AF to take a HUGE vacation?

Sorry I don't have any input, but good luck with the Provera. :D

Hugs, N.

Yolanda, I hope AF comes as wuickly for me, but I've still got another day or so to wait. She'll come eventually though!

Hi Neener!! (I've missed you around here!)

I don't THINK the training has made a difference, since I've still got plenty of body fat sticking around, and I'm not training as hard as I should be. Of course, I could be wrong. My doc didn't think so though. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm still waiting, but I *think* I've felt a few AF cramps!

Hey Twy!! :D

I hope that AF shows up soon for you so that you can start to feel a little more normal. I have to admit that I don't miss AF when she takes a vacation either...LOL

I'll be staying tuned to see how you're doing with the marathon and TTC.

Hi T and neener!

Sorry i forgot to update.... the provera did bring AF around. I think she came 1 or 2 days after I finished. She was here really strong for about 4days, then was gone. Then she showed up again a few days later. Now I'm on CD15 counting from the second time AF showed. I couldn't tell you if I o'd or not though.... here's hoping!

Bummer about having AF twice so close together, but I guess your body was working to regulate itself. Atleast I hope so! Are you still charting? That would help you a lot in determing an O date... Just my two cents. :)

Next month is your BIG month!!! I am so excited for you!
