We are planning on doing a pic of our dog this year for our Christmas card. I want to do something really cute-- I actually saw someone (on the WC or the Knot) a few years back who wrapped their dog in Christmas lights! We're going to try that, but in case he freaks, are there any other cute ideas?

I was thinking of doing reindeer antlers or a Santa hat, while my cats are sleeping, and using that. I would never be able to get them to actually pose for something! A friend who did a pet holiday card said that she found it easier to have someone else take the picture quickly right after she put the prop on. HTH!

Here are some I have sent out of Haley:

I almost made this one into an xmas card, I was going to add a funny saying:
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4dd00b3127cce9e6f5f3d690c00000016108Aat2jhk4cs-
I can't find the other card I did, but it was of Haley laying on my green couch on a red throw, wearing raindeer antlers...
This year I am going to put a black sheet on the couch, put an angel halo on her and some wings... we will see how it goes though... I will keep you posted!
I may actually have to try that christmas light idea though... its sounds cute!

We have a local no-kill shelter that does Santa pictures for pets each year as a fundraiser. The santa is not the best, but it made for a cute Christmas Card.
Here is my PjRT last year:

I was going to suggest a fundraiser type thing for photos. :) The basset hound rescue we adopted Ivan from, does a Santa photo fundraiser every year.
We ended up using this photo on our card last year, just ordered them through ofoto.com:

Well, I had been planning on doing a 'family' card, b/c I thought they were so funny (cheesy funny). Secretly, I also thought it was a good dig for 'this is my family' to counter the 'when are you going to start having babbies thing' DH's family does. However, maybe a pict of just leo would be supercute. Now, I'm torn! Here is the picture I was going to use:

ardathpaige, I think that's a really cute picture, you should send it :)
We sent out photo xmas cards out last year. Spence didn't want to wear his Santa hat but we still think it turned out pretty cute. His xmas Hallmark bear is by his butt and he was wearing his new red tee shirt.

That's a GREAT picture! You should definitely use it!
A few years ago I used a photo of our two cats curled up together on the recliner for our cards and reworded a verse from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to go with the photo. That's still my favorite card. It even beats the store-made card of DH and I when I was showing off how skinny I got. (Not so skinny now :p )

Obviously we didn't wrap him in lights like I wanted to, but we did wrap his bed in lights!
He's a Chocolate lab, but I made everything b/w except for his collar, antlers, and lights.

We took these last night. The first and second pics are the only ones where the girls actually looked at the camera, because they were startled by the shutter noise. Once they got used to it, they wouldn't look anymore, and Summer was busily trying to eat the tree.

polkadot - I'm lucky that Hugo is really good at "stay". The only thing he wouldn't stand for was having the lights wrapped around his head. :p
This is a horribly grainy photo, but I had to take it with my video camera, which doesn't have a flash because my dogs get too distracted by the flash to look at the camera! Luckily, I just have to insert a small version at the end of our Christmas letter

That is just adorable!
I'm thinking of bringing the pets (or at least the dog) to go see Santa tomorrow. The pet supply store is doing that as a fundraiser to help out homeless pets.
I don't know if the cats can handle a trip to go meet Santa, but I swear they must know Santa is coming, because they have been super cuddly with each other when normally they are chasing each other around the house and not necessarily getting along!

We used a cropped version of this a few year's back with the caption, "Bah humbug!" Bacon was not happy to be wearing antlers.

This year I was thinking about using a picture we took of Bacon after all the present-opening last year, when he was exhausted and tolerant of stuff being put on him, but I would really like something with both dogs, I think. I do like this one though...

Awwww everyones' animals are so beautiful.
Gio had a friend making Christmas decorations, and Tyra got into the ribbon. He shot this, and I couldn't resisit doing another. I love this cat so much, and she isn't even mine!

jajacobsen I love both of your cards, but in last year's card, both dogs seem to have the "I can't believe she's making us do this" look on their faces :D
I tried to make a card on Snap Fish, but kept getting an error message! By the time they got back to me about it, I had already bought regular cards to send out :( I'm bummed! I love all your cards though, maybe next year.

eli - I know. They seem absolutely appalled and humilated. I know it is a little cruel but that card makes me laugh EVERY time I see it. DH had that pic as a screensaver for the LONGEST time.
Their bunny ears Easter pic was just as bad(good!).

Here's our for this year... kids were cranky teens and the dogs kept taking off, especially the young one. I photoshopped on the headgear because they chewed theirs up.

Honestly, you can't tell the head gear is PS'd on. Good job! I did wonder how you got it al to stand up so styraight because I never can on my dogs, but then I read your caption.

I'm totally loving all the awesome pet pictures you guys have made into Christmas cards - they're all so cute!!
I tried to get one of our cats to pose with a santa hat last year for a calendar I was making for DH on Snapfish, but she didn't wanna cooperate (big surprise) so the picture wasn't all that great. *shrug*

penybryn - I like teh antlers better as well.
GB - very,very cute pic
Sazoo - we never get good holiday pics of our cats. They just do not like to be posed, dresse up or really photographed at all (they hate the flash and will run as soo as they see the camera come out.) Our dogs, however, they are pretty much attention wh*res, so we can usually get some good shots.

We have a cat but she is never in the picture. The dogs think she is quite tasty, so that would make for an interesting photo session. The kids and dogs give me about 10 minutes of attention and about 10 shots to get it right. Thank goodness for digital. Remember when you had to shoot a roll of film and pray you got one good one?
This is last years.

Those are real antlers. That was before I learned to photoshop.
