Tattoos, ladies! Share your tattoos!
Here is mine located on my right ankle - It's a sun/moon, ying yang combo - I couldn't decide which I wanted so the artist drew this combo for me! Now that I see it in the picture, I realize that I should probably go in for a touch up. I really want another, but I'm not sure I want to "feel the pain" again.. lol

I've go three but no pictures. I'm beginning to regret mine. :( (Don't tell my mother! She swore I would. Damn her!)
I've got a shamrock on my left ankle, moon and stars on my hip, and a daisy on my toe.

a daisy on my toe.
 Meg, did that hurt? It sounds a little painful on the toe.
I've got a dragon on my lower back (right side). I love it b/c I can conceal it easily and sometimes I even forget it is there. My dad said I would regret it too, but so far he was wrong :D . I do want another one on the other side of my lower back but like sublime I am afraid of the pain - lol.

Honestly, it wasn't anymore painful on my toe than anywhere else.
Despite that, it is a huge disappointment. We went to several places looking for someone who would actually do a tatoo on the foot. They really discourage getting anything on your hands and feet. I guess you shed the most skin on those parts, so the tatoos always fade and never look as good as other parts of the body. BUT I was 22 and didn't care, so I did it. I could tell the difference within months. It never looked fresh. It just looks "old." I dont' know how else to explain it. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't do it again.

I have a sunflower on the top of my left foot. I've had it for 6 years now & it does look a little faded. I still love it though! Its in the perfect place if I need to cover it up/show it off.

This is mine, the dormouse from "Alice in Wonderland" (http://www.evolvedbodyart.com/gallery/andy-tattoos026.jpg) (sorry, the picture is huge). I had it done last summer, and it's actually covering a smaller one I had done about ten years ago. It's on the back of my right hip, about 5"x5".
I want to get another, maybe on my left hip. The guy who did it is just a fabulous artist- I feel like I'm walking around with a piece of artwork on my body.

so, i have wanted a tattoo since high school! my mom always said that 'i would grow out of it', and i never did. my dad always asked me to never do two things '1. get a tattoo and 2. never get in a fight in a bar'. as close as i've come to #2, i never have, so i figure i'm good to go on the tattoo! i waited so that i also wasn't getting any financial help from my dad, so he couldn't freak on me. i had my tongue pierced in college and have seen the wrath of the folks, which i don't want to ever see again.
anyway, how do you pick what you want? i always said i wanted a small one on the small of my back, and i used to say i wanted a butterfly. now that seems cliche, and i'm not into them as i once was. my college girlfriends and i have a thing for dragonflies, but i'm not sure that is what i would want.
i looked through all the tattoos at the site LF posted, but none seemed 'me'. what should i do to find this perfect tattoo?

What we did (my husband has two tattoos by the same guy) was to find an artist we really liked, then gave him an idea to play around with, and he came up with the designs for us.

I don't think I have any pictures of mine, but I have well now I have 2 1/2 (explanation below). One small heart on my left hip and one on my lower back.
I am currently getting on (of a frog) removed by laser treatments. I got this tattoo on the same day I got the one on my back and I have absolutely no idea why I decided to get two!! Anyway, I instantly hated it (got them when I was about 18) and wanted it gone! SO I finally got around to scoping out dr.'s and I found a great on in my area! Although quite the pretty penny!! I just got my 4th treatment done 2 weeks ago and I have now spent <get this> $1200.00 on my treatments!!!!!! Yup...you got it right...$300.00 per session. I probably need about 3 or 4 more cause of the "green" color of the frog!!
So...my advice to you ardathpaige - only get something you know you won't regret that much!! Ugh..it's killing me!
ETA: I do love love love my other ones though and would even consider getting a new one. I want a nautical star on my other hip!

I have one Its on the outside of my left ankle. Its a butterfly. I had it specially drawn because I didnt like any of the pictures they had. And I am proud to say he used my model for many others :) . But I was only 15 when I got my tatoo! My mom had to sign off for it

I have one on my lower back, left side. I don't have a picture of it but it's a Japanese symbol ( I know, lots of people get them :p) that I looked up myself and took a picture to the studio I went to. I got it 12 years ago when I was 20. It was personal to me because I had just been offered a job in Japan and was excited about going (I had been twice before and I absolutely love it there). I would like to get another, just haven't done it yet. DH has one on his thigh. Strange place (at least to me!:D).

I have a large faerie on my right lower back/upper butt cheek. Dunno if I want to post pictures... :o I got it when I was 19 and 7 years later, I still love it. It peeks out from clothes just enough and it's easy enough to hide. I can't say my parents were thrilled. I thought my dad was going to disown me, but you have to cut the strings at some point.
ardathpaige my only advice would be to really try to find something you want that's uniquely yours. Look for something that speaks to you and that you can imagine having on your body forever. Personally, and this is just me, I avoid the pre-designed ones they have in the store. Find something yourself and have them do a rendition of it. I really like knowing that no one else has my design. Hope that helps a little.

I have a shamrock on the back of my shoulder. It's not too big and it's easy to hide, but sometimes I still regret it.
My 3 sisters & I got a four leaf shamrock on our right butt check! :D
We wanted something small, that you can't easily see and that it really is just for the four of us.
And I know that you are all disappointed but no pictures! ;)

I think you need to really think about who you are and what will be an expression of your spirit, ya know? I was drawn to my sun/moon ying/yang combo because they both represent basically the whole of being. I love that idea. Anyway, I may regret that I put it on my ankle where it's so visable, but I still think it repsents my spirit and I'll never regret that.
The artist who did my tattoo also did my best friend's. When we went in she had no idea what she wanted and while there, decided on a Tweety Bird. The artist sat her down and asked her if Tweety had some significance to her, she said no, but she thought it was really cute. He basically begged her to reconsider - he didn't want her to regret her tattoo because it had so little meaning to her. She ended up getting a sunflower on her shoulder because it was her deceased mother's favorite flower and she loves it. See what I mean?
That said (lol), I found this REALLY cool dragonfly tattoo!! I LOVE that shadowing!

I have one (and although I have a pic, I won't be posting) it's a fairy on my left butt check (see why there's no pic posting). For the most part, I forget I even have it (except the massage therapists usually comment on it). I have considered getting a small kanji for "believe" on my ankle, but I still don't know. I just keep thinking that at some point, I'll be wrinkled and old and there will be my tatoo - SNL did a skit on it this past season - I just can't seem to get myself past that thought...yet I still want one. Go figure.

Hey Katy!
My fairly conservative, Iowa farm girl mother received her very first tattoo on her 60th birthday! I asked her what she wanted and told her it had to be really special since it's a milestone birthday.. After some proding she finally confessed that she had ALWAYS wanted two things - to be a ballerina and have a tattoo!! I was TOTALLY floored! Well since ballerina was sort of out, I told her she needed to get the tattoo. She said that now that her own parents had passed away, she felt like she could finally do it! She got a hummingbird and flower on her ankle - she said on her 70th she's gonna get her flower vine finished! My mom rocks!
Anyway, the whole point to this is that if not now, you always have your 60th birthday - when you're 60, you can make decisions like that without fear of regret, ya know? :D

I don't have any pictures....but I have a black and flesh ying-yang on my left ankle I got when I was 18.
Over the years, I've thought of getting another on the other ankle: a chain of roses or other flowers, a VW Bug (the old one).
I've been thinking about getting a small lady bug tattoo on my left shoulder. I'd also like to get my ying-yang touched up, but I'm afraid of the pain now. I'm no longer a reckless, "it's not going to hurt if it kills me!" teenager anymore. :p

I have a butterfly on my right shoulder blade (hence my username). It's probably about 2 inches across, filled in with blue and pink. I can show it off if I want and hide it if I need to.
As soon as I'm done nursing in a couple of months, I want to get two more little butterflies around it - one for my DD and one for my miscarriage.

LittleFredPunkinHead, your artist is really amazing but what is up with that flaming lasagna (hope that's not one of the ones your DH got ;) ).
I have three tattoos. My first was a turtle right above my bikini line on the right hand side. ( I LOVE TURTLES!!) I have never regretted this one except for a brief moment when my 60ish gyno said "Nice turtle. Has he come out of his shell?" Um..ick!! I have a tribal sun on my back on the right hand side (so does my DH, my compromise so he didn't get my name put on him..who needs the bad luck??) Finally, I have a tribal band on my right ankle. I have never regretted any of them and they all remind me of who I was at that particular point in my life.

Here is the best pic I have of mine from when I 1st tried on my wedding dress. It's a moon and star with a few clouds and stars around it. I added the clouds and stars later b/c I found out that the moon and star design I so loved ended up being the symbol that is on the Pakistani flag.....I am not pakistani and don't want to offend anyone who is so I didn't want it anymore, so I added the clouds and stuff around it.

Depends on your definition of hurt, lol. I have never had a tattoo so it was a little painful. I think the anticipation was worse then the actual pain. Once the needle hit my skin, it was fine - but every time he lifted the needle and put it back down, it stung a bit. It only took 15 minutes so knowing it would be done soon helped.

That is so funny that you mention this, b/c this weekend at my apt complex pool, this really cute girl walked by us. Since, I'm in tattoo research mode, I noticed her tattoo right away. I busted out, and when I pointed it to DH he started laughing, too. This is exactly what she had, and we both agreed that she must have had NO idea when she got it. He refused to believe that she wouldn't know that she was getting that, and I told him about Britney Spears getting those wrong words. He was amazed! Not that I'm making fun of you, b/c at least you found out. That is great that you were able to fix it. I really wanted to ask this girl if she knew.

I decided I wanted a tattoo about three years ago, so I got some money together and went to the tattoo parlor one night with a friend who had 5 and swore they didn't hurt at all. LIAR! Mine hurt like holy hell. Of course, hers were all about the size of a qaurter and took about 20 minutes a piece.
Decided I wanted something that would only show when I wanted it to, so I got it on the outer part of my right thigh. Of course, after all the pain, I wished I had put it a little lower so I could show it off more! It only shows now in shorts (and barely then) or when I am by the pool or beach.
My Chinese sign is the dragon, and it suits me in every way, so that's what I got. I looked at every single one they had....finally found the right one on a full back type B&W picture in an old, old tattoo book. So the tattoo guy cropped just him, and colored it in. He's hard to describe, and sadly, no pics of him exist. But I absolutely love it, don't regret it, and he's covered 95% of the time.

Considering I'm such a picture posting *hoore* I actually don't have any of mine...
I got my first tattoo when I was 18, and in grade 12. I had spent months perfecting the design myself. Then one day I went with a friend to get hers done. They didn't have enough time for her intriquite design, but *could* fit in a smaller design. So I got mine done. I pulled out the peice of paper I had drawn a million times, from my backpack and handed it to the artist. She came back 10 mins later with 5 or so "nicer" more professional looking sketches of my design. So that day, I got a dove and cross tattooed on my lower right back. It hurt...kinda, like an annoying feeling. I hid it from my mom for 3 weeks, until one day I refused a free back scratch and she wanted to know why. She said very deadpan "why? do you have some huge tattoo on your back or something....?" My face went red and she knew instantly. She ended up relly liking it and was thankful I hadn't got garfield tattooed on my butt.
Two years later, in college, I got my second tattoo...a big regret now. On a whim, I got the arabic symbol for "cat" on my hip. I thought it was cool because at the time everyone was getting chinese characters, and I wanted something a little different. It's kind of one of those things that, meh, I don't really like anymore. OH WELL! too late now, right? ;)

One thing to think about if you're planning on getting a tattoo on the back of your neck: most older women wear their hair short, or if it's long, up in a bun. So, though your hair may hide your tattoo now, once you are 60 years old, do you want everyone to see you tattoo?

I have three blue stars on my lover back, in kind of a "V" formation. Large one in the middle, smaller ones on the sides. I would get more but I am apparently allergic to some kinds of ink so I'm scared to get any more. My stars started out neon green and bright blue and over the next year turned into blue and army green. They only thing they could do to fix it was color it all blue or all black, they said I must have been allergic to the green and that they had heard of this happening, but never actually seen it. Thankfully the blue took. I wanted something colorful so I REALLY didn't want it to be all black. I went to a very reputable place, the guy has been in tons of magazines and tattooed all my friends, I was just unlucky. It's still pretty cute tho.

I have this on my lower back (in the middle). It says "courage":

And recently designed this to go around it (the other symbols are "grace" and "serenity"):
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b374/skyblu2/tat_final0003.jpg
Then again, I haven't been able to research "in person" for the last two characters, so any CC'ers who read Chinese please input. I don't want to end up with some random words above my butt!

I have two. They are both sharks. The first one is on my left hip bone and I got it in college to celebrate going to college. The second one is on my lower back (right side) and was for the year I got married. I figure by the end of my life I will have a school of sharks swimming around my hips and that each of them will mark some important event.

I have had it for eight years and I love it to death and consider it a part of me. Someone commented before my wedding if I shouldn't consider getting a wedding dress with sleeves to hide it. My thoughts: if I felt a need to hide it, I wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.
I am planning on getting two more, another butterfly, this time on my left shoulder blade, and an anklet with blue pearls on it on my right leg.

I wanted something to remind me of all the craziness that went on in New Orleans during the hurricane.and to remind me of where i came from and so tat it can never be forgotten. People were talking about not rebuilding and leaving and leveling my wonderful city. I got the fleur de lis in remebrance of the city that we lost and the city that it will be.

Ok, I'm bumping this up for some help in making a decision...
I've found this design and love it. It's a Celtic Motherhood Knot. The three dots are me (on the outside), DH and DD. For future kids I can add additional dots inside the design. My quandry comes in whether or not I want it with the lines broken up or solid. DH likes the lines broken up. I don't think I have a preference yet. Any opinions? I'm also wondering about location. Any suggestions?

I like the broken lines. I think the joined lines just serve to keep the dots (your family) apart. This way, the dots (each of you) can "move" throughout the design. Does that sound totally crazy?? I'm having trouble expressing what I mean! Either way it's a great idea, but I do prefer the broken lines as it allows for more of a connection between the dots.
I'm rambling. Sorry.

Another vote for the broken lines, i see a bumblebee when it's all together like that.
You can always get the lines filled in at a later time if you change your mind, it would be a lot harder to "erase" them.

Broken lines. Because the symbolism of the tattoo speaks for itsself, but at some point you set your children free. It's like the broken lines say you're giving your children the space they need to grow. Even though the lines are broken, they still form one solid and beautiful structure. As we grow up in life, even if we are apart from our families, we're solid units. Maybe a bit corny, but that's how I see it. :)
I also see a bumblebee with the solid lines and think that the hearts still show up really nicely with the broken lines. :) Plus as another poster pointed out, you can always have the lines filled in if you don't like how it looks. I'd go that route so I could have an alternative option instead of doing solid lines then not being able to change it if you don't like it (unless you want to go to a really talented and expensive person who can remove tiny parts of tattoos. UGH.)
Let us know what you do!

For fun this is mine:
On the lower right hand side of my back (where a waistband would hit.) It's a fish with big lips blowing bubbles. My friends coined it my "blowfish." ;)
For my 30th birthday party this year I had an ice sculpture and the top of my birthday cake "modeled" after my tattoo. LOL

I've been shark diving since I was a teenager and I'd love to get one of a great white shark somewhere discreet like my fish is. Sharks have been a passion of mine and it's also symbolic because they don't get cancer and I'm a three time survivor. It only shows if I want it to or if I'm in a bathing suit. I just don't know where to put it.
LOVE the shadowing on that dragonfly tattoo!

Two of my tats are in this post (http://www.constantchatter.com/forum/showpost.php?p=14365&postcount=3). The one on my lower back goes across a surgery scar. You can't really see it in the pic, or maybe you can, but it covers part of that scar pretty well.

I have thought about getting another one but I can't think of anything I really want and I also can't think of any place to get it. I think neck tattoos are cute but I like to be tatt free in evening gowns. If I can get a good pic, I'll post it later.

I have a butterfly on my lower back I got when I was 19. Then I got another butterfly on the inside of my right ankle when I was 20. (It's my favorite, it's so cute!) And my third I got when I was 21. It is on the inside of my left ankle and it is a puzzle piece with initials inside. The puzzle piece is the symbol for autism. There was a girl who I used to babysit, she was like a sister to me. She had autism and she died when she was 12. She was and IS a HUGE part of my life. So I got the puzzle piece with her initials in it. I want to get a Zinnia flower on one side of it to add a little something to it. A Zinnia means thinking (or In Memory) of an Absent Friend. I also want to get a shooting star on my wrist. And something on my foot.
I'll post pictures when I take some.

I have a yellow rose with the vine going around my right ankle - I love it . I got it a few years ago and wanting one for a very long time. I took parts of three different pictures to get the one I wanted. The only thing I didn't care for was the color of green he used on the vine - last year I went and got it touched up with a darker green and its awesome. I really want another one - something that symbolizes my son and something I could add to if I have another child. I just haven't come up with anything yet.

I have three. Two are shared by my sister; we each have a frog giving the peace sign; mine is on my right hip, hers is on her right ankle. The frogs we got 6 years ago. Late last year, I had a fellow CC'r do Chinese translations for me and we got "Big Sister" and "Little Sister" in Chinese symbols tattoos; mine is on my left leg, just above my ankle. My sister's is on the top of her foot. At the same time, I also had my DH's name in Chinese translation put on right shoulder. I love all of my tattoos and can't imagine regretting them. I will get around to posting pics. :) Oh, and I definitely plan on getting more; probably one once my baby daughter is born, in her honor.

Im so excited! Im getting some new ink soon. I have a full moon with clouds on my right lower leg (represents my religion) and obviously I love it and do not regret it. I got it when I was 17.
Im getting dogwood flowers tattooes on my left arm (a big branch of them, I got the picture from a postcard! I knew what I wanted but couldnt find a picture until I saw it!), along with a pair of pocket aces (hearts & spades), maybe some old school dots and stars, and a swallow with a piece of ribbon in his mouth that says 'Dad'~
My Dad loved gardening and flowers, he loved bird watching, and he taught me how to play Texas Hold 'em. My favorite game. He died of cancer 2 months before my wedding... If I got a tattoo, it would be two (very pretty) butterflies- to represent my Papillon dogs. Papillon is french for butterfly and my doggies are my children! The antennas (sp?) would actually be "dotted" with 3 tiny dots to that look like paw prints- but you would have to have your eyes right up to it to notice that part. I think I would want them on my foot but everyone has butterflies on their feet. I don't want attention drawn to my waist either! ;)

Heather, Those are really cool! Just watch the placement of that. Go towards the center of your foot because anything that will rub it will take out the color.Any tat that is very detailed will eventually blend together and the detail of that design will be hard to see after years. The second shark you posted will last longer because of the spaces between the black ink.
Thanks for the compliment on mine. It is very swollen in the picture still. MY dad had a cross with a check on the side of it on his pinky finger. Around here alot of the men that served in Vietnam have them. My dad had only one check but I have seen them with check across their hands. It is a big secret around here and none of the vets will tell you what it means. LOL, DH said he is going to take me to the VFW and if we can find a drunk guy he will tell us the answer.
BlackMagicRose, Thanks alot!:D I love it. I thought it would hurt back there but it only stung on the sides a little. The only thing that is a pain in the butt is that you have to wear your hair up while it is healing.
Foley42, Actually the one on my foot did not hurt at all. My BF has one on her foot also and she said the same thing. The most painful one for me was my lower back.
NotDesperate, as long as you bring in your own design your tat will be yours.
Butterflys are very popular but I have seen ones that are eye popping and so original.

Jessi and Foley42 Oh no, no! I am not doing it on the foot. I meant that the one on the foot would have to be smaller in size, I don't want to go that big. I am doing it in the pelvic area. :) LOL, sorry I didn't explain that better!

There's an Atomic near me, too. If you end up doing it there, let me know how they are. I got my first one at Lou's Tattoos (http://www.loustattoos.com/index.cfm) but have heard bad things about them since then.

Here's (http://www.celticlady.com/flash/ts-15.html) what I'm thinking of; the one with a dot to represent each chilid, so I'd have two dots. I love celtic symbols.

I've had this for 6 years, but just got around to posting it... It's in the middle of my lower back. My middle name is Rose.
http://www.emmasart.com/emma/gallery2/d/13935-2/IMG_2178.jpg
I didn't take great care of it when it was healing, and i keep meaning to go in and have some faded color and lines touched up/re-done.
I also have another plain red rose on my lower waist/hip that was my 1st tattoo.
I am really feeling the desire to get a 3rd tattoo. I'm not sure if I want to stick with my rose theme and expand on the tattoos that I already have, or if I want to get a homage to my iguana on my ankle or back of my neck or shoulder...... Decisions, decisions. :)

I have two:
this on the top of my right foot
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/kdotp/Random/tattoo.jpg
It's small - only about 1" square
and a random red flower on my lower left back. I got both of them my freshman year of college almost 10 years ago! I think if I would have put a little more forethought into it, I would have gotten something different on my back, but try telling a just-turned-19-year-old to think first!
I've been feeling the urge to get another one lately and want to do something to represent DS (and possibly add on in to with any future children). I really want something on my inner left wrist, I just can't decide what exactly. I have time, though, and this one I will definitely think hard before getting it done!

I know what you mean. My name doesn't mean butterfly, but I've always loved butterflies b/c my grandpa used to call me butterfly. It seems like everyone has one. That's ok though. It doesn't bother me.
The paw prints would be cute!!

Skip the tattoo goo they try to sell you to put on afterwards-Neosporin works just fine. Don't scratch it! That messes it up-or so I was told. When mine got to the itchy stage the thing that helped the most was to take a bath pouf to it in the shower. Scratchy enough to feel better without doing damage. No suggestions on finding someone to do it-I got totally lucky with mine.

Scratching it can make the color fade. I wouldn't scratch it with anything. My advice would be, once the scabs come, to put lotion on it when it itches. Keep it lotioned up. Don't let it get dry really. Once all the scabs are gone, it's healed up. Let the scabs come off by themselves.
I agree with the Neosporin, or bacitracin. My tattoo place gave me some of the stuff. So you may not have to pay for it.
Talk to the tattooist's before you go to get your actual tattoo. Ask them to show you pictures of their work. If they don't have time, don't seem interested, or don't have actual pictures, leave. Go to a couple different places before you decide on where you're going. The best way to find someone to go to is asking around. If you see someone with a tattoo and you like the way the work looks, ask them where they got it. Most people with tattoo's love talking to others about them.

It was very, very light 'scratching' using only a wet pouf, in the shower, and did no damage at all. Mine never scabbed. Was it supposed to?

The scab is more like peeling after a bad sunburn so you may not have noticed it too much.

Have to join in. I have 5 and will have to get pictures one day soon. My first was a small butterfly on my right hip. I then got a half moon with stars on the outside of my right calf. I then got a wizard on the outside of my left calf. I then had a unicorn put above the moon and lastly a small Italian flag that has Made In New York around it on my left hip.
Although I did think about what I wanted, hind sight, I don't like the ones on my legs now. I have researched getting them removed but don't have over $5k for the procedure. Don't mind the butterfly or the flag though.
All of them were done for free so they are not in the greastest shape. The saying is true, you get what you pay for. I didn't pay so they are not the best work.
Now I do want to get another one. I am older and have thought about this for a few years now. I want to get 3 angels on my right shoulder for my 3 angel babies. I want Chris Nunez from Miami Ink to do it for me. He specializes in memorial tattoos. I checked into it and their minimal price is $200. So I have to save up a lot of my pennies if I'm going to have him do it. I'll try to get some pictures up soon.

Given the location of the artwork, there's a good chance that once it scabbed over it simply rubbed off from contact with clothing, bedsheets and showering.

lcarlson Is Hart & Harrington there (they were mentioned earlier in this thread.....they had a show Inked)
I saw the neatest tattoo yesterday on a woman's shoulder. It was her daughter's foot. She had taken the first footprint that was taken at the hospital and she had the tattoo artist copy it. It was a very lightly shaded footprint and was SUPER adorable. I'm almost thinking of doing the same thing for my kids.
I do have a tattoo on my left should that I got when I was 19 and had no idea about anything. I forget it's there most times, but I really do wish I didn't have it. It's a bit large and I would have to find something tribal and much larger to cover it. DH HATES it and does not like for me to wear anything that shows it. It's a black panther head with wings behind it. Very cheesy. BUT I was 19 and thought it was super cool. No meaning behind it and the guy didn't even try to talk me out of it. My second tattoo is in the middle of my lower back and is of a Frog giving the peace sign. My sister has the exact same tattoo. It was from a sticker we found in my brother's car after he was killed in a car accident (not in his car). We found out through friends that he was going to have it tattooed on his arm, so 5 days after the funeral, we went and had it done. Wouldn't change that tattoo for the world.

Hello all! Pretty tats.
I am a little discouraged because DH made a comment to me the other day about getting a tattoo on my back or neck. He said..
"Just make sure you dont get it on your lower back, i don't want you having a tramp stamp"

I've been thinking about getting another tattoo. I found this really pretty one that has black swirls that form two cats facing each other. DH said no...because the only good place to put it is on my back! ;)
I've really been thinking. I've thought about a cat because I love them. I'd get a Lone Wolf (because that's what I've always been), but I'm not a big fan of dogs. I've thought about sun/moon/stars. But I keep coming back to ladybugs. I think I'm going to get an anklet tattoo around my right ankle of a line of ladybugs.
Question:
Does anyone know where I can buy temporary tattoo paper? I'd like to "test drive" my lady bugs first. Thanks!

Thanks guys, I am so happy with the way my tattoos turned out. It is my first really colorful tattoo (my other 2 are mostly black ink).
Toonces the design of the swallows is actually a Sailor Jerry stencil. I SO love Sailor Jerry style. My tattoo guy designed the banner around it to balance it out (the original had a heart and some leaves or something, which I really didn't want). I'm so happy with how the banner looks.

I'm going to Capital City in Madison and getting it done with Brian. I've been asking around for years and have heard great things about this guy.

Here is a sample of his work... which I think doesn't look anywhere near as good as some of the stuff I've seen in person.
I'm getting a tribal back piece in honor of my Mom. I am soooo thrilled I've finally found something I know I will love forever. Although, my hubby is a little worried that I will become addicted after this one. LOL I'm currently trying to talk him into getting a pin-up girl that looks like me on his back. This is the new one! It's on my right back/shoulder, with the dragonfly facing out towards my shoulder and arm. I'm SO happy with it.
Forgot to add, it didn't hurt as much as last time. I think it was partly the position, partly that I now knew what to expect, and partly that it is smaller than my other one. The outlining only really stung when he did the left wing that came closest to my neck (the pic is the image in the mirror, so everything's backwards). The color really didn't hurt much at all. So, I guess my pain tolerance has really gone up! I won't go so far as saying I didn't mind it, but at least this time I knew it would be worth the end product.
I barely bled this time either. I asked the artist if I was bleeding, and he said practically none at all. I had chalked it up to being so super tense last time, but I did much better with that, so maybe I'm just quirky that way!

I went by myself and I'm really glad I did as it was a tribute tattoo and I'm glad I did it alone. Plus, I don't think my husband would have been too thrilled with me sitting in between a big tattooed guys legs for 2.5 hours. LOL He so knows my type!

BerBer~ that really is beautiful! Sorry it was painful. :(
I got one once I turned 18, but kinda wish I hadn't now.. Not that I don't like it, it just doesn't mean that much to me. At the time my friend had two and I thought it was cool so I just picked a design I liked at the time and got it... It's on my lower back, left side... But once I came across this thread I have been thinking of getting another one, well two really. I was thinking of getting my girls' names on the top of my back, small font about 3 inches below my neck... Haven't told hubby yet, so we will see what he thinks! ;) Haven't a clue where to find a good place though...

LKMang~ I'm getting scripture on both the top of the bird and the bottom written in Latin... meaning:
"Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away and be at rest"
So it is a lot of writing especially in Latin... and it will hurt so I need sometime to forget the pain before I sit back down. I know I sound like a baby but, I'm a wimp... I'll admit it!
