Mrs B You are the best! Hope you and your family are doing well!!
I'll paste the post here I put in the old thread right before it closed. I can't believe we have a toddler thread!!!!!!! :eek:
Celia So sorry for your loss
New thread fine with me and of course I am still happy to help moderate
Dylan is not only walking he is running sometimes now too. He still can't get up from a sitting position though without pulling up on something so he still has to crawl also. And he HATES his new sneakers. just falls right over and can't walk in them. so I am going today to get him some new soft shoes to help ease the transition. He also FINALLY started clapping. And we think he said uh oh and he is saying no. So I guess since the 15 month appt things are starting to happen. I think he just wanted me to worry. And here are a few pics. When did our babies become such toddlers???

mrs_barkley: THANK YOU for the new thread! :) Emalee is precious. I hope she is doing well!
Sal03: Wow. Dylan looks like SUCH a big boy!
Celia: So sorry to hear about your grandmother.
excitedbride: Congratulations!
lisarenee25: Good to see you over here! Glad to hear Hyadn is well.
Multiple children: I have two sisters and I always knew I wanted my kids to have siblings. Life just wouldn't be the same. DH has a sister who is 13 years younger than he is - she adds no value to his life, so he doesn't see what the big deal is. I guess it just depends on your perspective.
We went to a pumpkin patch this weekend. Here are some pictures of Jackson:

Jackson has 16 teeth now. How many more teeth do they get? He's doing well - running, climbing, and talking a lot more. He hasn't improved in the eating department - still picky as ever.
Hope everyone is well!

Thank you so much for the new thread!
JKI16 teeth?? that means we are only half way done!! :( love the photos of the pumpkin patch!
Multiple children My sister and I are 21 months apart and couldn't be closer. Although she is in TX and I in Ca., we are the best of friends and I really wanted that for my kids too. My mom is an only child and she was very sad growing up by not having a sibling to play with and sadly to say she now acts out to get attention that just annoys me to no end! :rolleyes: although, I also must add that if that is the only complaint I have I am lucky!
SalDylan is just adorable, love the photos!
We are going to the pumpkin patch this week and I will take some phtos! I am so excited to take Brady!

Thanks for starting the new thread!
:SalWow look at Dylan, what a big boy! So cute. Josh hates hates his sneakers too. It must be the stride rite brand. What soft shoes did you end up getting him? I'm going to have to do the same thing.
jki I didn't know Jackson has 16 teeth already. My goodness. I can't remember how many they get. Is it 20 or something? I have no clue.
mrs_barkleyThose pictures are precious. We haven't seen a pic. of Gina in awhile.
Like I said to Sal, Josh hates his shoes. Poor guy just started walking and know won't do it b/c of those darn shoes. Pretty soon he'll have more shoes then me. His eating also stinks, so fustrating. I did end up givning him beef ravoli for dinner and he chowed-could also be b/c he was starved from hardly eating lucnh.
We also went to the pumpkin patch this weekend.

Adorable pictures everybody! I feel like it has been forever since I have been here. I have no idea where the time has gone. Not only is work keeping me super busy, my little girl is a toddler now! I have to keep correcting myself when I call her the baby. *sigh* My DH and I have just started trying for the next one. I want Bryelle to have a sibling close in age so she has someone to grow up with. She loves playing with her cousin so much that I can't wait to see how she is with her own sibling. I figure once I have the second one I will stay at home until they are in school. We'll see how it works out, I guess.
Ok..I don't have alot of time right now but I wanted to stop in.

Gosh, cute bunch of kids, everyone!
20 teeth is correct... but you're pretty well done with teething for now. The last 4 are the 2 year molars.
We're working on teeth #9 and #10 (upper molars.) They are taking forever.
Does anyone know if there's a free site that I could upload my pictures to and then link to here? I have them on CD...
NicoleWisconsin,
I use www.snapfish.com.

Hey all! I haven't been around much lately. DS is keeping us very busy! He's been walking for about a month now and is 14 months old. He's starting to run after me when I leave for work in the morning. I'm loving it!
He's also starting to test his boundaries with us. He's spitting food everywhere and standing in the bath tub. :roll eyes: He's driving us nuts!
Threadmistress, please update my stats: Baby #2 Due 6/11/06
Hello! Nice new thread. :)
Well, having two 15-month-olds is wearing me out!! We've just started going to the playground and I have to take someone with me to help chase them around, because when I let them out of the stroller, they do exactly what you always hear about twins doing: run in opposite directions. oh geez. I didn't want to do the baby harness thing, but it's getting so hard taking them out of the house (or even just loading them in/out of the car) that I think I'm going to try it. I found some harnesses that look like little monkeys riding on the kid's back, and they are supposed to double as mini-backpacks, too. Not sure when I'm going to break those out...I keep hoping they'll wake up one morning and be really good about holding my hand and not running away from me and getting stuck in a tunnel at the playground, but I am dreaming about that, right? :p
That said, they are very fun kids a lot of the time, and having a brother around all the time has got to be great for them. One day last week, they found the dog's outdoor water bowl.

16 teeth?? Oh my gosh, I guess we've got a whole lotta teething hell ahead of us still. I don't think my guys have 16 teeth between the two of them. Eek.

Thank you for the congratulation's!
~~~~~~~~~
Wesley is 17months old now. He is also a picky eater. He doesn't seem to eat much for lunch and dinner. He seems to eat more at breakfast time and does snack well. Loves his milk! He is saying new words often. His latest is banana, but he says nana. I just love it!:D
Phen: Your boys are ADORABLE. Where'd you find the harnesses? I'd be interested in checking them out!
mrs_barkley: The pic of the girls together is too precious. Emalee looks like she is getting big!
Jen1098: Check out the toddler shoe thread here on CC. We have some See Kai Run shoes and some Pedoddles - both are really soft and flexible. I ordered them too big so we haven't worn them yet but they seem well made and comfy.
Kaeden's Mommy: Congrats on baby #2! :) I can't believe all the ROs!
I'll leave you all with a picture of Mr. Ketchup:
I haven't been around much, Colin is keeping me busy. It seems that computer time does not go over well here--he's always coming over and trying to bang on the keyboard, so my time is limited.
Congrats to all the RO's! I'm amazed at how many there are. I'd like to become one some day soon, but my body just isn't cooperating.
We are still nursing, but only 2 times a day. I don't get many comments on it.
Colin is a busy guy. He runs everywhere, no walking for him! He is building a big vocabulary and working on getting more teeth in (he has 14 although two are only partially through and his eye teeth 'set' is incomplete). He is anything but a picky eater--my problem is keeping his food intake reasonable. He just loves to eat. He was recently diagnosed with asthma :( which isn't as bad as it could be. He doesn't have an inhaler or any rescue meds, but we do have a nebulizer for home use. He seems to get the worst when he has teeth coming through (so it's been bad lately). He is such a happy, giggly, sweet boy! I am amazed at how much he's grown and how much he looks like a little boy!
Mrs. Barkley I am MELTING over that first picture of your girls!!
Kaeden's Mommy Congrats!!!
jki adorable pics. What a ham!! these boys just love making a mess
Jen looks like everyone went for pumpkins this weekend. so cute! I did not find any soft shoes in dylan's size so I am going to check out those shoes jki mentioned. Dylan did walk a little when we got home from shoe shopping but he keeps stopping to whine and try to pull them off so I must get softer ones.
Adam's Pi Sorry about Colin's asthma. At least is sounds mild and that he is still so happy! :)
Phen They are so funny the way they play together and get messy together!
Hi Everyone,
Been reading along and posting when I can. I just can't even keep up with the Due in April thread...this one is much more tame. Jack and I just got back from a long road trip to AZ to visit my brother and his wife (due 2 months before me with their first). Jack loved their pets (small dog, cat and fish). Every morning he'd wake up and pant like a dog, then do his fish and cat signs and then waddle out of the room to go see them all. So cute! He was amazingly good in the car...thank goodness since DH had to stay home and work so it was just me contending with him.
Anyone make/buy a Halloween costume yet? I can't wait to see all the cuties dressed up. I'm thinking of making Jack Harry Potter since he's got the glasses. Just have to get sewing.
We've also been busy looking for a house (though I have this funny feeling that we may still be in our 2 bedroom apt when baby 2 arrives). Trying to figure out if we should buy now or wait and see if the market is going to take a dip at all. Here in LA housing prices are just outrageous.
Anyway, I love seeing all the toddler pics (had to backspace to change it from baby pics to toddler pics). I'll have to upload some soon.
Lisa--Great to see you back here!!! Any chance of seeing a new pic of Hayden? I bet he's got the cutest curly hair!
Phenway--Boy have you got your hands full! The boys are as adorable as ever...and great pictures too!
Sal--Glad to hear Dylan has added some new tricks to his repetoir (sp?). How're you feeling? I think we're just a week or so apart...guess I should visit the April thread.
JKI--Great pictures! We've got the same plastic bib.
Celia--I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. I hope she lived a good long life.
Teeth--Jack got his 16th tooth before he turned one I think. Those molars were much easier than the eye/canine teeth. So I'm hoping the last set of molars won't be too bad. I've heard there are lots of nerve endings near where the canines come in, so that would explain why they're such a pain to cut. Anyway, just my 2 cents.
Okay, got to go see what kind of trouble Jack is getting in to.
Thanks for the new thread, as always keep up the GREAT work.
My DH & I both celebrated b-days, can you change mine to 39 (& holding) and his to 34! Yes I'm the fossil of the thread ;)
AdamsPi My DS has asthma also. He has been on a nebulizer since he was about 6 months. He has severe food allergies (Wheat/Soy/Milk/Eggs), they told me his asthma was brought on by the allergies. We use Albuterol for maintenance and when he gets really bad then we use Pulmicort in his nebulizer. I hope that our little guys outgrow this.
Loving all of the new pictures, keep them coming.
Hapa I am trying to pick my jaw up off the floor to type something to you but I am having a hard time after seeing your freakin flat belly on the April thread. I already look what I looked like at 5.5 months with Dylan. I am still pretty thin and all belly but still - you do not even look pg yet!! I just want to lift Jack out of that tub and give him a squeeze. What a sweetie! I am feeling much better now that I am in the second trimester thanks. Just tired and I am sure you can relate to that!
sal and monique You are too funny. But seriously, my belly has grown so much this last week. I think I would be way bigger earlier except I haven't had much of an appetite and all I was able to eat for awhile were a few carbs so guess that kept me thinner...but in the last week I have been packing the food down...I should take another picture (after I eat especially) and you'd see a big difference so just wait, I'll surpass you in no time! :) Sal--Glad you're feeling better too... Such a bummer about your basement flooding though. I hope you didn't lose anything valuable.
Oh and please ignore the mildew spots in the bath picture of jack. :eek: We're just renters so we live with that kind of stuff. ;)
luckiestgirl Oh no! Hope your dd gets better soon. How scary for you, but sounds like you're able to take it all in stride. Take care.
Hey everyone, I'm glad to read everyone is doing so well! Tyler is a little whirlwind lately, I've got my hands full with just the one and couldn't imagine two....
These kids, just when you think you got them figured out..BAM, they change. Tyler has now dedided that he loves steamed string beans and peas along with whole wheat pasta but not much else. He no longer has much interest in mac and cheese or meats.:rolleyes: At least he's eating healthy stuff right?
Hapa Jack looks adorable in those pictures and if I didn't already say so, congrats!
We are currently ttc #2 but I have been feeling really guilty at the prospect of having another baby. I feel so bad for Tyler, he won't understand that Mommy has no time to play since she has to feed the baby every other hour (for an hour) in the beginning and he is so used to having 100% of my attention. I was so excited to start ttc and after one month am starting to feel hisitant but I don't have the courage to burst DH's bubble, he is so excited about adding another baby to the family and we would like to have 3 when all is said and done so I guess we should get started. I'm just very torn with this....
Anyway, we hit the pumpkin patch this weekend so I'm adding some pics:
Beautiful pictures, October_Princess. I especially like the one in the corn and the hayride pics.
We took Blake to a pumpkin patch and he cried the entire time we were on the hay ride. He didn't nap and he was so tired and over stimulated... Oh well.
Just remember that it'll be like 9-10 months after you get pregnant and he'll be so much more independent and understanding... I think it's very normal to have conflicting emotions when you TTC. I think especially when you are trying after your first. And it could take a while ...
luckiestgirl - hope meagan is feeling better. how scary.
hey hapa, what is with your flat stomach??? you disgust me. jk, you're looking as gorgeous as ever. and jack will be a perfect harry potter. oh forget about the mildew, what's up with the farmers tan in the tub? hehe, too much swimming with his surfer shirt on. so cute.
dana, you're right about no pumpkin patches in pasadena, if you don't mind driving I should've told you about cal poly pomona's pumpkin patch last weekend. there's also a calabasas pumpkin festival on sunday. tapia bros on havenhurst in encino has a nice one as well and perfect for toddlers. these are all free btw.
OctoberPrincess - good luck with ttc #2, they say love divides, which means there's always enough love to go around, no worries.
we don't have any pumpkin patch pictures yet. but we did go to legoland this past weekend with our other two friends with families. that place is swarming with strollers, if you didn't come in through the gates with a stroller you would be feeling out of place. It's so nice to go on a quick get away.
October love the pumpkin pics! Saturday was the perfect day for it. I hear ya. I was so torn and actually felt a little sad when I found out I was pg again. I have been trying to make the most of every moment with Dylan. Plus I asked everyone I know with two kids - HOW do you love another as much as the first?? But when I got all teary at my first u/s and now feel the baby kicking I already see that you really can. Now I am so excited to see them together playing and can't wait to hold a newborn again.
Mrs. Barkley She is getting so big!!
Luckiest Hope Meagan is feeling better!!!
We are off to DH's sister's wedding this weekend which should be fun. She wanted Dylan in the wedding but we felt he was way too young and she finally agreed and we are so glad. We want to really relax and have fun and this way I will not have to deal with him once he gets tired and overwhelmed and cranky. Our nice nights out are so rare I want to take advantage!! So he is going to come to the rehersal dinner and the brunch the day after the wedding so I can at least show him off there :D I just hope he is okay. My mom's best friend is babysitting who I love, but she is a stranger to dylan and he is kind of sensitive and teething right now. He is so good with people though I am sure it will be fine. It is just amazing all the stuff you have to think about now. We had to get adjoining rooms, a fridge, pack all his favorite toys...the car looks like we are going away for a week, not just a weekend!
I hear you on that! I took jack to AZ for a long weekend without DH (working), and we were on the road from 10am to after 6pm. Had to plan a stop or two, carefully decide when to give snacks, what to bring etc. So much thought goes into a trip now. Hope Dylan does well for your mom's friend...I'm sure he'll be great...and if not, she should be able to deal for a few hours so you and DH can have a good time! Enjoy!
Genndan You crack me up! Jack does have a pretty bad farmer tan on his arms. :) And update: stomach is no longer flat...poochy now. I might be up for a trip to the zoo. Actually, I want to check out the train and some of the other cool stuff at Griffith Park. Love the pic of Nikki and her possy! Where there enough fun things at Legoland for the little ones?
danab
You mean mildew doesn't just reside in old apts? :) I just can't wait to have an updated place with new double paned windows (mold free) and forced air heating and a yard....am I dreaming or what? :) Yeah, looks like the market is slowing down, so DH wants to wait until early next year to really consider buying. So if we're lucky, we'll be in a place right when the baby is born. Doh!
And hopefully it won't need too much work. At one point in my life I would have loved fixing up a place, but I just don't have patience now with kids.
Oh, if you don't mind the drive, we went to a fun farm in Moorpark (near Thousand Oaks) yesterday, but I'm sure there's got to be closer places to you. I just bought a book that has things to do with toddlers and babies in LA and the lady who wrote it lives in Pasedena...I'll check to see if she mentiones anything in there about pumpkin patches.
October Princess Great pictures of you and the family at the pumpkin patch. The one of you all together is super cute!
jack's sick
Well, jack was up half the night throwing up. Poor little guy. So I was up every 30-90 min taking care of him. I hope the worst has passed since he did ask for a 'nana (banana) and chowed on some cereal and so far so good. Guess it's not so bad cleaning up your own little one's barf, but I would have probably gotten sick if I had to do that for anyone else. I took him to the doc and looks like he could have a stomach virus (most likely), or he could have gotten something at the little farm we went to yesterday or the week old sweet potatoes I gave him last night may have gone bad or it could be from hitting his head when he was with his grandpa yesterday. Woah, the things these little guys have to endure!
Okay, have a great weekend everyone! DH is off to NY Sun-Wed and then gone the next week too. Nelly! Maybe we'll just move to AZ and teach swimming lessons or something instead of dealing with all this craziness in Los Angeles.
Talk to you later,
hapa poor little jack, hope he feels better. this i can so relate to
At one point in my life I would have loved fixing up a place, but I just don't have patience now with kids.
i would love to take the time to restore our home the right way, but i just don't have the time to hunt down the 'perfect' light fixtures, tiles, etc. that was the old dana, now i just go to one store, make my selection and leave. trust me you do not want to move into any kind of a fixer-upper with 2 small children. i feel guilty that i'm not spending enough one-on-one time with noa because of the time i spend on this house.
what's the name of the book you're talking about? i have a couple of books like that, but not much in pasadena is mentioned.
Well last time I posted about Holden being sick, then he got sick again before he even got completely better! So Thursday was kind of scary - I took him into the Dr. because he was totally not himself (would only lay on my lap and barely even lift his head and was running a high temp). When we got to the Dr's office the nurse took it under his arm and it was 104.6, then a while later the Dr. took it rectally and it was 105.4!!!!!!!
He diagnosed him with a double ear infection and sent us to the hospital to have an x-ray to see if he had pneumonia, but luckily it was negative.
We gave him a dose of Zithromax and kept putting ibuprofen and aceteminophen (alternately) in him but he wasn't having much luck keeping stuff down so we have him another (partial) dose of Zithromax Fri per Dr's instructions. He woke up yesterday am doing much better though so we are relieved!
HeatherH -
Every time I see pics of Jack I think man, can that kid get any cuter, and then next time I think yep, he can!
Melissa -
OMG, Tyler is soooo cute! I just LOVE that blonde blonde hair, and it looks like he has so much of it! Have you already had to get it cut? it looks like it's almost cut into one of those "skater cuts" is what they used to be called and they are my absolute favorite haircut for little boys! I don't think Holden will have the right kind of hair for one. Right now he still has all his baby curls in back and the growth seems to have slowed down and I don't want to get the baby curls cut even though he keeps getting mistaken for a girl!
We haven't started TTC yet but we haven't really been preventing either but I am having mixed emotions about it too. I am glad to know I'm not the only one. One minute I think I'm ok with it and am anxious for another little bundle but then I'm like, hey wait, how do people DO IT with 2?!?
Titial I could eat him up in those hats!! There is nothing like a little boy in a hat!
Hapa ugh!! How is poor Jack doing? That must have been awful!
Luckiest so glad everyone is finally better
I just have to brag about my little man. HE WAS SO GOOD THIS WEEKEND. We had SILs wedding (my dress actually fit and looked great YAY!) and he just rolled with everything. Was an angel for my mom's friend during the actual wedding so we could go and dance all night and have a blast. And during the other festivities and meeting so many people he was such a charmer. only got overwhelmed if he was tired. So the weekend could not have gone better and I think DH and I really needed some fun nights out like that between the rehearsal dinner and actual wedding. We really have to make an effort to do that more. My mom is being great and already agreed to babysit New Years Eve so we can have a nice night out then too. And hopefully we will sneak in a few dates in between. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
How are those costumes coming? I can't wait to see some pics!
I've been sewing away making jack's Harry Potter robe and tie (bought the rest thank goodness). I just hope he'll wear the thing now. Next year the kiddos are getting store bought...maybe I'll find something on sale after Halloween.
stomach flu
Well, not only did jack get the stomach flu, but 2 days later I got it, then 2 days later on his business trip to NY, DH got it. Bleh! Thankfully we've all recovered. I don't think I've have the stomach flu since elementary school. And I haven't booted that much since either (not even the time I had 4 Long Island ice teas and developed a British accent did I get that sick). :)
Busy busy busy
I'm making invitations for 2 of my friend's baby showers...really I should do them this week, but have to finish the costume and then work on the newsletter for our moms club. So much to do so I've mostly been lurking...probably a good think it's been quiet lately.
SO's later. :)
take care and have a fun and safe halloween!!!!
We are excited about an adventure that we have planned. Lewis and I are going to Brazil from Jan 14th to Feb 10th. My DH willbe there for the first 2 weeks and I am hiring a Nanny for the whole month so it should be a pretty great trip for all of us.
Jakedog-We are huge Elmo fans in this house! Thank God for Tivo, I've got like 10 epidsodes on there. Did you know that when it's time to potty train you can have "Elmo" call your house to speak to your child. I don't know if he would say Henry's name but he says something like Elmo heard you pee pee in the potty. Elmo is so proud of you.
Paul says our next child better be a girl so I can stop doing girly things with Josh. Whenever he sees loiton he trys to put it on himself. I taught him how to put it on his hands and rub together. I tried to take a pic. of Josh with my purse and Paul freaked.:rolleyes: Just wait until I buy him a doll for Christmas.:D
Elmo heard you pee pee in the potty. Elmo is so proud of you.
that is hilarious! noa adores credit cards as well. when i'm really desperate, i pull them out for her to play with, she lost my drivers license at trader joe's, thankfully one of the employees found it. oh and cleaning, she loves cleaning! she grabs any kind of cloth and starts cleaning the floors and she's obsessed with the broom, she's definitely getting a kids set of cleaning stuff for xmas.
we definitely need tivo, i can never remember when elmo's world is on, she has a elmo dvd that she likes.
jakedog i can't believe what you've gone through with your house and your m/s! you should be sooo proud of yourself for keeping it together. that would have seriously sent me over the edge :eek: .
sorry for the random babbling :o
Noni that black and white picture is so sweet!!
jakedog LMAO when I feel like utter dog vommit I can lie in a chair and shout things like "look at that baby!" or "Lalalala its Henry's world!" without having to actually be fully engaged.
This was SO ME during the first trimester. And actually still is :o
dana noa looka adorable!!
Jen love the first one. he looks like he is up to no good! Not sure how DH is going to react to Dylan getting a doll. We have to teach him to make nice to something though before the baby gets here. Right now he just flips everything over! :rolleyes: Oh and I think I also want to get him the little tykes kitchen. so that should go over real well. whatever - it is primary colors and gender neutral!
Halloween Dylan is going to be Superman!! LOL it was the only costume that did not have something that went over his head.
Wow even more of you are pregnant then last I looked! I am so happy for you all!!! I have a lot of friends in our play ground in all stages of pregnancy. I just love hearing that news! Everyone still asks if I am sure Lewis is going to be my only and I assure them that I have no questions about that at all. I am happy with one biological child. When Lewis and I get back from Brazil, Clark and I will start the process for becoming foster parents. We shall see how that all works.
Lewis only like to watch one thing... Signing time videos.. over and over and over. I just pre ordered 7-9 they should be sent in Nov.. I'll need them.
Halloween Dylan is going to be Superman!! LOL it was the only costume that did not have something that went over his head.
Ditto here! Brady won't tolerate anything on his head, so Superman it was!
We went to a Halloween party yesterday by my Mom's group and there was a boy dressed like Elmo. Brady got sooooo excited he ran over to him and just stood there smiling! Elmo is also his very favorite muppet. It was cute though, there was also a ballerina girl at the party and Brady was very smitten with her! He is not shy by any means and sometimes scares other kids with his outgoing behavior. So he went right up to her and started talking to her and wanting to touch her hair and give her a kiss! Boy, I think I will have my hands full in a few years!
Brady is also obsessed with the cleaning products. He will take anything from me that I am using. He pushes me away when I have the vacuum out so he can push it around and I even got him one of his own, but when the real one comes out, he wants nothing to do with his. He pushes the brooms and mops everywhere and loves the squirt bottle (that his is filled with just water).
Hey there Rita-I'm glad you're joining us-it's a great bunch of women here.:)
genndanNikki is so cute. I love her green shoes at the pumpkin patch.
moniqueWhat a great idea using a squirt bottle-I'll have to get one for Josh. Looks like Brady is a little flirt huh? Josh is pretty shy when it comes to approaching other kids and he never knows what to do when this little girl always tries to hug him at story time.
Noniitis That's so great you guys are going to be foster parents. We need more people like you who are doing it for the right reasons.
Sal03 What is it with these men and their machoness. Sheesh. I think it's really important that they learn how to be gentle with a baby before the real one gets here. I would love to get a play kitchen for Josh also but they aren't cheap.
danaNoa looks adorable in her costume. You're so lucky she loves wearing it-Josh hates his costume. Oh well. Oh and yes you must get Tivo-it's so nice having about 8 Seseme Street episodes on and popping it on no matter what time then fast forwading to Elmo's World.
Jakedog I can't believe Henry lost all those cards. Wow. I only let Josh play with my wallet at home but still it won't be tough to lose in here. We bookmarked that Elmo site. Thanks.
Alright ladies I need some bath help. Josh used to love taking a bath. He was so good and enjoyed playing with his toys and he didn't mind shampooing. Now he tries to climb out, stand up etc. He's strong too and it's getting really hard for me to give him a decent bath. He sits in the big tub but he's been in it for awhile now so I don't know what's changed. He doesn't fight getting in and the first couple minutes are fine. I'm at a loss.
Hope everyone has a great Halloween, since Josh won't wear his costume he'll be wearing an orange sweatshirt. Real orginal huh.
Happy Halloween Everyone! Just wanted to let you know that we found out Friday that we are having another little girl! I'm so happy that I'll be able to re-use all of Olivia's clothes that she grew through so quickly. :) I'm 29 weeks this week and feeling good. We haven't done too much to get the nursery ready yet...for some reason I'm not as stressed about this one...probably because I have a very active 16-month old on my hands! Here's her latest adventure with the box of Smart Start cereal and her visit to the pumpkin patch. Oh, and her displeasure with being a hot chicken for Halloween.
jakedog sorry about your fiasco, your poor thing! i had my own run-in with poison control recently. about 6 mos ago, all the grandmas, aunts, etc in my family were sharing poison control stories. my cousin drank straight bleach at 10 mos old!
we had our own fiascos yesterday. i totally ate it while holding noa -- i was standing on the curb getting ready to put her in the carseat and my foot slipped and we both fell and smacked our noggins. of course she was acting strange for the rest of the night and i was worried she had a concussion. then at my mom's house she burned her hand on a candle b/c my parents refuse to change anything now that there's a toddler around :rolleyes: my poor poochie had a traumatic halloween.
it was a thousand degrees here yesterday, i swear she wore her costume all of 5 minutes.
akedog Wow, sorry about your scare. Similar thing happened to us...our safety latch under the sink was broken and I found jack with his mouth around the 409 bottle. Luckily he didn't eat any. But that got me to fix the latch really fast. I did have to call Poison Control after he ate part of a orchid at the grocery store...they're okay to eat. :)
Just started raining here today...hm...what to do in the rain.
Maybe I'll try out a Gymboree class...we've never done one.
Nothing new going on here.
Oh, I do go for my big ultrasound tomorrow!
luckiesgirl Great pics of the family and all the costumes! Leah's hair is really growing in. I just noticed that Jack's is finally starting to grow too! She's such a doll!
Celia Your little bear has a beautiful ruby colored pout...so precious!
Rositabean Awesome job on the costume! Was it all polar fleece? What did you use to get the ears to poke up? I hard the hardest time getting jack's jackalope ears to stick up last year. Finally had to use some boning to get it to work. Homem made costumes always come out so original and cute...but looks like with 2 next year I'll be buying some costumes. :)
RayNJay I love your sassy little leopard!
Noniitis Lewis looks like such a big kid hugging that girl! You better watch out! :) ...that picture could almost be out of 16 candles. :)
Adorable pictures, everyone! :)
jakedog: Congrats on having a little GIRL. :) I think that having one boy and one girl has to be MUCH easier than two boys! ;)
Rainy days: Ugh - not looking forward to the winter. Hapa - definitely try Gymboree. It's a complete rip off but they do have open days where you can just go there and play for free with your membership. We used to go like three times per week!
We spend a lot of time at the germ infested play area at the mall when the weather is bad. That, and playdates at friends' homes.
Hapa Good luck at your US tomorrow!
Jakedog, we too found out yesterday that we will be adding a little girl to our family! congrats to you!
I had my US yesterday and I was positive this one was a girl from the very start, it is good to get confirmation that my senses were right on! The only concern they had was that the placenta was close to my cervix so I will probably have to go back in a few months to see if it moved. If not, then it has a good chance of a premature birth and a C-section as it would block the natural path for baby to come out. So, I am really praying the placenta moves out of the way!
Adorable photos everyone! It looks like all the little ones really enjoyed this halloween!
Wow a girl! How'd you take the news? I know you were thinking it was a boy. I'm sure H will be a great big brother either way. Think you'll have any more after this or will this be it? Thanks for the recommendation...I'll have to add it to the list.
We spend a lot of time at the germ infested play area at the mall when the weather is bad.
I hear you. Our play area at the mall is usually pretty crowded and germ infested, but I love how the toys are all padded. I usually take jack if he already has a runny nose or something. Bad momma. Bummer about Gymboree free time is that it's in the late afternoon and traffic that direction is awful at that time of day. We were looking for houses right down the street from the mall, which would have been awesome for gymboree access, but I think we've move our search now.
Can I ask what kind of double stroller you have and if you are happy with it? May as well ask Mrs. Barkley and any others who have 2 now. But I think you two are the only ones!
ALMOST the only ones. ;)
I have two double strollers: a tandem (one-seat-behind-the-other) one, the Graco DuoGlider; and a Side-by-side one, the Combi TwinSavvy. I can't say I love one more than the other...in fact, much like my two boys, I love them each equally but for very different reasons. Have you checked out the Double Strollers thread on Parenting? Lots of feedback on that... :)
Monday, Thomas had a fever, Tuesday, they both were okay but low-key, today, Alexander has a fever. Oh boy, this is gonna be a FUN week!
jki Can I ask what kind of double stroller you have and if you are happy with it?
Here's (http://www.constantchatter.com/showthread.php?t=4075&highlight=double+stroller) the double stroller thread. I have a Zooper Tango Twin. I got a great deal on it by buying an old model when the newer model was out. It accommodates an infant seat - which I thought was super important to me but for some reason, she's always in the Bjorn vs. the infant seat.
I like the stroller a lot - it's roomy and comfortable, easy to steer, easy to open/close, and a very smooth ride. Negatives - it's super heavy (30 lbs.), the basket is sort of annoying to access and it folds up kind of big. I tested the Maclaren Twin Traveller but Jackson was too wide for it. He was so super uncomfortable. I like the lighter doubles - Combi and Peg - but they are rather pricey and I also want to get a double jogger. Anyhow, depending on how Dylan is, you might want to consider a Sit N Stand as Jackson now prefers to WALK everywhere. I should've just gotten a leash and saved a ton of money on the double stroller! ;)
Phen how could I forget you?? :D I am really leaning towards the duoglider. I'll have to read through that whole thread while dylan is napping. thanks!
jki I wish I could have a crystal ball. with dylan, I could not have lived without my travel system. I took him out of the car and he would sleep in the stroller for hours. but newbaby may prefer the bjorn. decisions decisions. I love the look of the zooper though
OMG Dylan is usually the sweetest little boy. just so happy, loves peekaboo and laughs all the time. but if you take away something he wants, WATCH OUT. he SCREAMS and just has a fit. he just pulled out a bunch of my hair because I was holding him and took something out of his hand and he had a fit and immediately reached for my hair. WTF??? is this the beginning of tantrums? I guess I have been lucky up until now. Is this how he is going to express himself because he does not talk? one of my babycenter emails said it is hard to discipline at this age because they do not understand consequences and do not really get the time out concept yet. I guess it is good that I do not just give the object back to him if it is something bad, and he usually gets over it really fast - he is just so quick to flip out! :eek:
Ok girl moms- where are the cutest clothes? My stomach
hurts with all this super-pink and icky lavendar.
Good question. I'm having some major problems finding cute girl clothes myself. Everything is too pink, too flower-y, too many prints, too many ruffles, too many bows... Have I been shopping for boy clothes too long?
The good news is that even if I had cute clothes for Cassidy, I don't have time to change her. She wears the same blue blanket sleepers all the time. :o
Hidey ho everyone!
Just got back from my 20 week ultrasound...the technician said she'd guess it's a GIRL! I asked her how confident she was and she came back with 90-95%, so that's pretty good. We had a pretty clear shot between the legs and didn't see anything special going on there, so unless he had it tucked back, looks like we'll be adding another girl to the repeat offenders this week!
DH and I are both excited and can finally start figuring out names. For some reason I wanted to wait until we knew what we were having (just lazy I guess). :)
tantrums Jack has been starting to have tantrums now and then. He'll kick his legs and/or arch his back and yell. He hasn't gotten too out of control yet, but I'm sure that's not far down the road. I've started trying to give him short time outs now and then, but not sure if those are working. Funny thing though...he was playing with the knobs on the stove and I told him not to do that or he'd get a time out. Next thing I know, Jack is walking over to the mat by the front door (where we do time outs)...he sat down on the mat like he was in time out! All I could do was laugh. Of course a few mintues later he was back at the stove and I had to give him a real time out...and of course all he wanted to do was jump up and run away like it was a fun game.
double stroller Jakedog...are you just looking for a lighter double? You got a double jogger right? Have you taken it out for a spin with just H? I've been using the E3 the last few days with just jack and so far he likes it with just him in it. Now I'll have to see if there's a way I can get him and the car seat in there... though I might start looking into some slings too...
Sal--I hear the Zooper 2006 model is going to be a few pounds lighter, so you may want to look into the new models (though it's so fun getting a good deal on the year end models.)
Phen Hope your boys are feeling better soon! You know, I got you a card month ago, but never sent it... I was a lurker on your phenway website. Glad to hear you're doing so great!
Okay sorry I am hogging the thread but here is another one. What do you guys do when your kids won't eat? I can barely get one pancake in dylan for breakfast, he eats lunch well and for dinner the past few nights he won't even TRY anything, literally won't even put a bite in his mouth even though I know it is something he likes. basically he only wants to eat grilled cheese or mac n cheese. So last night and tonight everything went over the side of the tray. Last night I gave in and made him something else and gave him a jar of fruit. tonight I just really did not feel like it. I mean I made him plain pasta with a little sauce and a veggie burger. I KNOW he loves both. he would not even open his mouth. Everything went on the floor. When I tried to feed him, he turned away. So finally I was fed up, did not give him fruit and took him out and cleaned up the floor and walls. He was cracking up walking all around me. :mad: My ped and my friend's ped both agree to be consistent and say this is dinner and if you won't eat it - Fine. So I explained that and obviously it really sunk in as he was cracking up watching me clean up his mess.
SO my question is, do you do what I did tonight or do you give in and make them something else?
ETA HAPA Congrats on your girl!!!!!!!! Are all the ROs having girls?? That will be so funny if Tuesday I find out ours is a girl too. great news!
updated to here :)
All the girls for the Repeat Offenders are giving me hope for when (if) I get to be an RO, too! I love my boys like mad, but ooooh I need me a baby I can put hairbows on.
picky eating. Yes, oh, yes, we are living in PickyEaterVille, too. Last week, all they'd eat were hotdogs and bananas. Maybe a waffle in the mornings. But nothing else! And now this week, they throw hot dogs on the floor and holler for yogurt....'til I get out the yogurt, when they decide "just three bites, now I'm done, Mama."
My PSA of the day: with active and mobile toddlers, y'all may want to be sure you have a spare key hidden somewhere outside your house, in case the kid locks you out. A friend of mine here in town got locked out by her 18-month old today when she ran and put the trash out real quick--and she's 9 months pregnant! She was flipping out hard and eventually I got the police to come and let her back in. But we were, quite naturally, envisioning her son running around the house juggling knives while she banged on the door, so there was more than a little panicking going on. Anyhow, he was okay, but still, I think I'll be headed off to the hardware store to get another spare key made to hide outside...
Congrats on your Girls Monique, Jakedog and Hapa-that is so exciting
Oh boy add us to the picky eater group. It is so fustrating. We do great at breakfast, it's lunch and dinner that are the pita. The other night I finally had it and said that's it I'm not making him more. Of course DH is like but he's got to eat something. Grr. I really think I need to toughen up and clean up if he just plays-hopefully he'll learn.
Still no words here besides dada, mama and uh oh. He's babbling away and somethings I think I hear something resembling a word but I'm sure it's my imagination working overtime.
We had a lovely tantrum today b/c we finished the crackers we were snacking on. :rolleyes:
wow, congrats everyone! I feel like I've missed so much here! but ahh...it's good to be back... we've been offline for a while, due to a freak electrical storm that parked itself over the city for 9 hours. our modem card or whatever it is got zapped thru the dsl line (very sneaky. bypassed our heavy-duty surge protector) and fried the modem on the way thru. everything seems to be ok now but we've had so many problems with our computer lately, I'm almost afraid to get comfortable again. anyways....
just what the heck are these people putting in my bucket anyways??
I *wish* we had more of a picky eater here...it freaks me out sometimes how much this kid vacuums in :( and yes, we've been experiencing tantrums. usually, if he doesn't get what he wants, he'll start crying, fall dramatically to the floor and scream and cry for several minutes. luckily he is easily distracted.
is anyone thinking about potty-training yet? we're thinking about it but haven't taken any action yet. for months now, deacon has been announcing pooping and peeing with "ca ca?" so he seems to be pretty aware of his bodily functions. the other morning, while I was in the middle of changing his diaper, he said "ca ca?" and I slapped a diaper over him just in case I was about to get an eyeful of pee. he just passed a little gas then said "no ca ca!" :) so maybe he'll be ready soon? I just haven't the faintest idea how to get started or when is a good time!
SO my question is, do you do what I did tonight or do you give in and make them something else?
that's a tough one. just this past week, noa refuses to eat anything but breakfast (she gets eggs everyday and goes nuts for them). for lunch and dinner she throws everything on the floor and doesn't eat anything, i was giving her something else, but in the past few days i stopped that. it's weird, it used to be that if she didn't like what i gave her, she would still end up eating some fruit or cheese, but then she started throwing that over as well. it sucks b/c i know if she doesn't eat dinner that she'll end up being soo hungry when she wakes up and then dh is like "hurry up and go make her breakfast, she didn't eat dinner last night", when i'm laying there in bed trying to enjoy my coffee :rolleyes: . the throwing food thing is crazy annoying, she looks me straight in the eyes while she does it, just trying to get my reaction. i used to be able to tell her 'no' sternly and she would listen, now she just laughs. i'm thinking i should give her no reaction at all and just turn my head, but how do you not say anything when they're dumping food everywhere? she does the same thing with the cat lately, she's always been super gentle with him, but yesterday she was pulling his tail just to get me to tell her no.
i'm glad i'm not the only one experiencing tantrums. noa lunges to bite me when i take things away from her.
girls clothes we had quite the shopping day today, some decent sales.
i pick a few things from everywhere. a lot of stuff for girls is just way too overdone. out of 50 things at gymbo, i'll probably like 5. i get noa's clothes at old navy, gymbo, janie + jack, very few things at baby gap, naartjie, babystyle, smaller boutiques and most of all ebay. i've been so disappointed in baby gap, i used to buy things for friends' babies, thinking i couldn't wait to shop there one day for my own baby...now it's all fuschia fleece and everything is embroidered :rolleyes: .
yes phen i do need to get a spare key...i locked myself out the other day while noa was napping and had to climb through a window, thank god i had one open.
Food - I totally do what jakedog does, but I'm plagued by the inconsistency. I wish I could be more consistent but if he hasn't eaten much in a few meals, I tend to cater to him more. However, if food gets deliberately thrown on the floor, the meal ends immediately. I've only had to do that a few times, thankfully. If he doesn't want to eat, he can give the food back, but food does not touch the floor.
Tantrums - I just take Jackson out of the situation... like if we need to leave the toy store and he doesn't want to go, he will lie down and start screaming HYSTERICALLY. He just gets picked up (with Cassidy in the Baby Bjorn - a lovely sight) and carried out. When we get outside, I try to kneel down and explain how inappropriate and unacceptable the behavior is and when I say we need to go, we need to go. I'm sure it's totally effective. :rolleyes:
Spare Key - I just leave all the doors unlocked and thankfully, DS can't reach the locks. It might also help to have a spare CAR key hidden somewhere as Jackson is always playing with the automatic locks.
Girl Clothes - I returned every dress smaller than 12 months. I figure I don't want to deal with diaper changes and tights in the winter, a dress is impractical when crawling, a dress is ridiculous for a newborn unless a special occassion... so therefore, we have no need for dresses!!
Thanks for the congrats everyone. I am really excited to be expecting a girl this time. I thought 2 boys close in age would be fun since they'd probably beat each other up a lot but then be best friends too...but it will be nice to have a boy and a girl (just in case we don't have any more). Wonder if I get another ultrasound...you know you can never be 100% certain when they say it's a girl, or at least I've heard of people finding out down the road it's a boy when originally they thought it was a girl. And we're not getting an amnio so guess I'll just try to get in my head that it's a girl. Still doesn't feel quiet real...
eating Yeah, what's up with this?! Jack used to eat anything I gave him. He loved brocolli and avocado and all kinds of good stuff...now he spits it out. I think I may have tainted his tastebuds a bit because I think he tends to like salty stuff more. I started cooking the brocolli in chicken broth and he'll eat it that way, but not steamed with water. And I put a dash of soy sauce in his scrambed eggs (I love them way better this way too)...and he will only eat them this way. For the most part he eats a lot, but I have noticed recently that some things he used to eat he's stopped eating.
I just try to feed him stuff he like mixed with stuff that he should eat (veggies). Sometimes I ask him if he wants yorgurt...he'll go, "umhum." (yes) and I'll tell him he needs to eat a piece of brocolli first. So reluctantly he'll eat the brocolli (usually) and then I'll give him a bite or two of yogurt...we'll go back and forth like that until he won't eat any more of the veggie.
Some stuff he really likes: mac n cheese (used to not like), turkey meat balls from trader joes, rice, flavored oatmeal, morning star fake sausage, fresh pineapple, yogurt, chicken with teriyaki sauce, kashi cereal...
Oh, another great thing is those cups with the funny lid they sell at Right Start. It's got a lid that the kid can put their hand through to get the food inside the cup without making a huge mess...Anyway, I started putting cherrios, kashi cereal and pirates booty in there and he loves snacking on that in between meals.
deelcie Yay! I was just thinking about you! Was going to send you an email...glad to see you're back online (hopefully everything stays working).
Deacon was such a cute little ducky! Jack was looking at the pictures last night and made his little duck noise when he saw Deacon all dressed up. Any trips back home planned? That's awesome about potty training. Jack will pat on his butt right after he goes poo, but then runs away when I ask him if he has a poopie...Good luck!
luckiestgirl leah is so lucky, it looks like she has a ball with all her siblings.
Do you put Noa in dresses a lot or seperates?
i actually put her in dresses a lot more when she was younger (pre-crawling). usually it was just on the weekends when we were seeing family. at this point it's so hard to keep her clean so she mainly wears play clothes and dresses are just for get-togethers and special occasions, except lately i've been putting her in corduroy dresses with funky striped tights, she looks so cute :D
eta: on the food thing...i know the general rule with ped's is to not worry about kids not eating, it's totally normal for their age, but noa is so, so tiny as it is, when she skips lunch and dinner, i really worry. :confused: i'm pretty laid back and used to her not eating, but tonight my mom was really freaking out when she saw that noa wouldn't eat at all.
Luckiest I forgot to comment the last time you posted pics. I LOVED the family pictures at the farm. The one I think of all of you sitting on the hay and then the one of the kids walking and you took it from behind. Leah always looks like she is having the best time with everyone!
Dana I know!! I am so thankful this week when I get a meal in Dylan. My friend's peds are the same way. One even said just be happy to get a meal in every 48 hours! :eek: Noa drinks tons of milk right? At least she is getting lots of fat and protein there. And it's great she likes eggs. I am sure she will grow out of this phase soon
Hey ladies, been out of the loop for awhile so I'm just going to jump in full speed.
Tyler has been talking up a storm for the last week it's like he learns a new word every couple of days! He's been teething pretty bad though, so he's had some miserable days recently as well.
Dana and Sal I can totally relate, Tyler is also a very picky eater and can go days without eating a decent meal. I have become much more relaxed out this since I spoke with the doctor but I still get nervous when more than a day has passed without a decent meal.
Luckiestgirl I also wanted to compliment you on that gorgeous family photo! Some people can't even get a picture like that from a paid professional.
Titia I wanted to thank you for the compliments on Tyler, Holden is quite the cutie himself! Yes, I tried to do the bowl haircut on Tyler...but I'm not sure he has the right hair either....it's very dry...
Has anyone esle notice stains on thier baby's teeth? I noticed back in September and I asked the doctor about it at Tyler's 15 month appt., he said it was fromt he iron in his vitamin. Has anyone heard of this before? It's like a greyish streaking...I have been brushing his teeth since his first tooth broke through the gums and he's been off of bottles since 13 months (plus I never let him take one to bed with him). I just want to know if it will come off when I discontinue the vitamin, he's slightly anemic or I would be tempted to stop it now.
I went to the Dr. today and I definitely need another ultrasound early Feb. to check the placenta. At least I will get another look at my little girl.
Brady has been going to bed and sleeping like a champ these days! I don't know if he is in a growth spurt or what but he has been telling me when he is going to take his nap and insists that he go to bed when he wants to! I am so glad the fight has stopped wtih trying to get him to take a nap! Today he went into his room where I was cleaning the carpet, got his paci and his blankie from his crib and then tried to push the carpet cleaner out of his room so he could go to bed! He slept for 2.5 hours. He is also sleeping until 7:30 each morning and yesterday until 8~! I didn't know what to do with myself with that much sleep time!
Sal congrats! I hope I am lucky enough to have a girl, it doesn't have to be the next one but I would like one of the three we plan to have, to be a girl.
Jen I asked the hygenist and she said it's really hard to determine without seeing him, she was asking if he had any atibiotics when the teeth may have been forming but all I can remember is amoxicillan (she didn't think that would do it). I am seriously considering bringing him to pediatric dentist though the hygenist said it would be hard for them because he's still too small to sit still. He is not yet on our dental insurance (we have to pay extra when we are ready to add him) so we would also have to pay the entire bill out of pocket, I just worry if the doctor is wrong...I don't want this to be an issue when he's bigger.
I'm bringing Tyler for Holiday pictures tomorrow morning. Has anyone done any shopping for their babies yet?
Octoberprincess My DS has stains on his teeth. I noticed them when he was 7 months old. I took him to a pediatric dentist who asked several questions about medicines I might have taken when I was pregnant. I took none. She also asked me if I had a high fever while pregnant etc... not that I can remember. She cleaned his teeth pretty well and even tried to scratch the stain with one of her tools. She determined that the problem is a defect with his enamel. She said this does not mean that his permanent teeth will be stained. I read that giving to much fluoride might damage teeth enamel but I only gave him Polyvi-fluor once or twice when he was 6 months old, so no excess there. I know other people dont notice it like I do. I truly hope his permanent teeth dont have that problem.
If the stains on your DS teeth are from the vitamins they should be able to clean them pretty well. When my DS had his teeth cleaned, I sat in the dentist chair and his head laid on the Dentist lap. I had to hold his hands and she had her assistant hold his head. It was tough but we were done pretty quickly.
oops, I have gone overboard on this topic. sorry for taking up so much space. This is the first time I have written since I had a M/C.
Congratulations on having girls this time around everybody. I also hope to have a girl the next time but we shall see.
teeth I know when I was little I had stains on my teeth and the DDS said it was from too much apple juice. The acid in the juice took off some of the enamel in mine and my sisters teeth. our permanent teeth did have some discoloration to them but nothing bad.
looks like 2006 is bringing a lot of girls in. congrats! which is good because a lot of my friends that had babies in 2005 were all boys. guess there is balance in this world.
Octoberprincess - we took Nikki into a pediatric dentist when she was around 12 months because Nikki had stains from the iron in the formula she was drinking, all he did was clean it with that soft rotary tool and it was all gone. he said it's just like coffee stains, some people get them, some people don't. but nothing to worry about. The way he cleaned them is by having me sit in the dentist chair, face Nikki towards me on my lap and lean her backwards towards him. It took less than 1 minute to clean her teeth.
dana b - nikki does the underwear over her head all the time. maybe a pasadena thing. noa's hair is growing so fast.
ooo..I want me a girl now too! congrats everyone!
hapa we haven't actually started potty training yet, we're just sorta thinking about it. I think what we're going to do is buy a potty and sit him on it every now and then so he has an idea of what how he's supposed to use it but we won't get down to serious business until he starts to show more of an interest. that's hysterical about jack and his poopy! why does he run away? does he hate having his diaper changed too?
luckiestgirl the pix are great! I love the one of leah chillin' in the jeep w/ her sis.. you guys seem like such a happy family. I gotta admit, it doesn't take much for me to start thinking a big family like yours could be really fun... (but DH would just die) :p
christy sorry about your situation. hope you guys are ok.
octoberprincess no stains as of yet but thanks for reminding me I really need to get this kid to a dentist...
monique all last week deacon was sleeping sooo great! slept at least 12 hours every night and took 2 1-1/2 hour naps every day. I was lovin' it (except for the usual--omg, why is he sleeping so long? is he dead??) until this w/e when his naps went to hell and we're back to an on/off schedule again. :confused:
dana on one of our trips, deacon kept pulling my bras out of the suitcase and would hold onto one end and stretch the other end w/ his other hand, like he was going to use it as a slingshot. I was so worried he was going to snap his eye or something but he went straight for the bras every time I opened the suitcase. :rolleyes: luckily he seems to have lost interest since that trip (or maybe just easy access to my bras).
cucu I wondered where you were. I've seen you lurking on occasion but noticed you hadn't posted in a while. I know you had a terrible experience not too long ago but I hope it doesn't keep you away. :(
gen how jealous am I of you taking trips to the aquarium?! I LOVE aquariums but of course, we don't have one here and our zoo is supposed to be a v. depressing experience. I really wanted to take deacon to the LBA last time I was in LA but I thought he was a little too young and I didn't dare mess w/ the nap schedule!
chelly welcome!
sal deacon is getting better and better w/ the fork and spoon but still spends a lot of time just stabbing at his food until he wants a bite and then he'll grunt until someone helps him. he really can do it on his own most of the time but the food will often fall off the fork or spoon right before it gets to his mouth. :(
so i guess i'm not the only one with a weirdo kid ;) i thought maybe it was genetic, my lil brother was obsessed with my moms slips and pantyhose, anything silky!
sal noa completely loves her chair, sits in it all the time, it was the best gift ever.
Are your kids eating on their own with spoons and forks?
yes. actually, she is eating so much more now because of it. she's still not very good at it, a lot of the food falls off. but she loves to stab the food and eat it and she's doing it with stuff that she wouldn't even touch before, like meat.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! We are doing just fine. He walked out on us back in April....I hoped for reconciliation for a few months, but it's over for sure now. I found out alot of stuff about him, and we are better off w/o him. I filed for divorce a few months ago and I'm just waiting for everything to be finalized. Unfortunately for the girls he isn't part of their lives anymore, we might get a call from him once a month..if that!! So please keep my girls in your prayers, my oldest is having a hard time dealing with this all. Thanks ladies!!
Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to make an appointment for Tyler to see a pediatric dentist and see what he has to say. Tyler only gets 1 sippy cup of juice (usually gerber but sometimes OJ) a day and it consist of 3oz of juice and 3oz of water so I doubt that's the culprit.
Cuculinda thanks for sharing the info, do they know what caused the defect? I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c, it's nice to have you on the boards and I'm glad you decided to join us again {{hugs}}.
Jackson at a place here called Fairyland. It's a fairy tale themed park. I heard that Disneyland was modeled after it. It's very small and toddler friendly.
Jackson is obsessed with ducks. We have a creek that goes by our back yard and he constantly wants to feed them. When he wakes up in the morning, we hear him saying "duck" from his crib. When he sings Old MacDonald, he sings "E I E I DUCK." It's the funniest thing. His vocabulary hasn't expanded much beyond duck, though.
Eating with fork/spoon: Jackson does a pretty good job - if I am in a good mood, I will even let him eat applesauce by himself but I generally hate cleaning up his messes!
Holiday Shopping: I have no idea what to get for my kids! I got them each an outfit and I got a book and another set of MegaBlocks for Jackson. I might get the Little People zoo set but beyond that, nothing exciting.
Sal: Yippie on the girl! :) Have you started shopping yet?
dana b: That picture of Noa is so funny. Thankfully, Jackson doesn't have a lot of interest in my underwear.
Welcome, Chelly!
Kaeden's Mommy: Sending girl vibes your way. When do you find out?
it's super quiet in here. not much going on with us, noa has chicken pox so we've been stuck in the house for far too long. it's like the mildest case ever, only on her tummy and she's acting completely normal. i desperately need a trip to target, but i would feel really bad if she passed it on to a newborn or something, hopefully we can get out next week.
so what's everyone buying the kids for christmas?
we're getting noa a play kitchen, some little junk and some trucks! she loved playing with some hot wheels trucks at the ped's office.
i think it was jakedog who mentioned the elmo lift-the-flap books? noa is obsessed with them, she could sit on my lap for hours lifting all the flaps.
I just had to post because I feel like my baby is growing up! Anna (our nanny) arrived today and Jackson pulled her to the front door to put on his shoes. He held her hand as they were walking out and he stopped, turned around, waved to me and said "bye, ma ma" in the cutest voice ever. Clearly enunciated, perfectly pronounced. I almost started crying because he is SO not a baby anymore!
We got into mommy and me preschool and we start in January. I am sure he will love it as he LOVES other kids. We're on the wait list at 3 preschools in our area. I hope he gets into one and can start in the fall but at the same time, they are all so ridiculously expensive (like, on a per hour basis, more than you'd spend to send your kid to Stanford) it would probably be a blessing in disguise if he had to wait an extra year.
--------------------
Christmas gifts - So far, I have a MegaBlocks dump truck, various Thomas trains, some books, and some clothes. I don't think we're going to get anything big since we just bought a train table a few months ago, plus I spent hundreds of dollars in additional accessories! I think I like that table more than Jackson does! I'm trying to convince DH to get a double jogger for me (not that I jog) but it would make my life so much easier!
Lift the flap books - OMG, Jackson loves those as well.
This one is his absolute fave:
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/1575841843.01._BO2,204,203,200_PIlitb-dp-500-arrow,TopRight,32,-59_AA240_SH20_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
We also have some Thomas the Train ones.... but he loves Elmo, so maybe I should get some of those? Where do you find the best prices on books?
Books: Speaking of books, this is Jackson's new fave:
dana b: Thanks for the comment in the Christmas clothes thread! :) I love the outfits you have for Noa! If you get a very mild case of CP, can you get it again? She is lucky she got it at such a young age, I had it at age 21 and it was very severe and left a lot of scars!
I also have other stuff on my wish list for him like a shopping cart and other stuff so hopefully the grandparents will pick up some more things!
I have not been by here in ages. I can't believe how big all the babies are and all the RO's. Congratulations to all of you! :D I am due in less then 3 weeks, so things have been pretty busy around here. Cross your fingers that this little guy comes a wee bit early!
Hi everyone. I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving.
Dana I can't believe Noa has chicken pox. I didn't get it until I was in 9th grade and it was a very mild case and I haven't had it since. I was at Target today-I don't blame you for wanting to get there.:D
SalI love that kitchen for Dylan. I've finally talked Paul into getting one for Josh. Oh and it looks like we'll be neighbors-we're moving to NJ in January. Parsippany area to be exact-are you anywhere close to that?
luckiestgirlWhat a cute TV/DVD player. You guys will never see the girls now. Was that the plan?;)
jki Aww,so sweet. I can't wait till Josh even says bye. :) Jackson is so going to love going to pre school. It will be nice for the two of you to do something together also.
Not much new on this end. We're moving to NJ in January. Josh and I will spend three weeks in Florida. Yay. THen we'll meet Paul here then head to NJ. Not thrilled to be moving with a toddler and pregnant but it's to good of an opportunity to pass up.
Josh gets more fun each day. He's obsessed with waving at people. It's so cute. Him and I went out to eat the other night and almost the entire time we were there he was waving at everyone around us.
We find out the sex of this baby on 12/19. Still holding on to those girl vibes. This pregnancy is already so different so maybe that's a sign.
Oh keep the xmas gift pics comin, you guys are giving me great ideas. The kitchen is great might have to look into that.
Jen I also live in NJ but down at the shore in Point Pleasant. Who knows maybe once your moved in and settled we can meet and have a playdate.
My poor DS is on his second bout of Asthma in less then 2 months, it breaks my heart. Other then that he is your typical toddler, into everything and chatting up a storm.
Hope everyone else's babes are doing well.
If you get a very mild case of CP, can you get it again?
i thought you could, but i asked one of the ped's and she said no, that i was confusing getting it again with getting shingles. i'll ask her regular ped at her next appnt.
i've been getting the majority of noa's books from the children's book of the month club. i've joined a few times, when you join, you get like 8 books for just shipping and then you need to buy a few more to fulfill your membership. i've been buying a couple books every month since before she was born that way and now she has tons. i'm sure it's not that cheap in the long run, but it keeps me from walking into a book store and spending a ton of money at once.
This year was fun to think about!
oh, i know! they've suddenly hit this age where there is so much fun stuff for them to play with. i have to restrain myself and save some stuff for her next birthday, i'm dying to get her an easel and all kinds of art stuff.
for those of you who bought train sets -- we're getting a train/activity table after christmas and i was thinking of getting noa a little train set, what did you guys get? i don't want something elaborate, just small, wooden and cheap. i think ikea has some?
Sal03
Dana sorry noa has CP. It is so funny you wrote that about the easel! I resisted it for a holiday gift so we could get Dylan that for his second bday! So funny how we all have our eye on the same things. I am totally hanging out in here today because I love getting ideas for presents
dana b: How cheap are you thinking? I honestly think the Thomas and Friends stuff is by far the best quality, nicest details, etc. Jackson is always immediately drawn to the Thomas stuff vs. the generic stuff - I don't know why.
You can get something like this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000062SQJ/qid=1133470934/sr=1-11/ref=sr_1_11/002-9244677-7775265?v=glance&s=imaginarium) for $40:
Do not buy this:
No idea how much they are, though, as they are OOS at amazon.com.
Hey everyone...sorry to break up the christmas gift examples...but have any of you moved your child to a toddler bed yet? Milo fell out of his crib this morning and DH and I were terrified. We think he leaned over the rail and fell and we will be defintely lowering the mattress again but it got me to thinking about when everyone was moving their toddler to a bed.
Milo seems to be acting ok but Dh and I just cant stop worrying about him.:eek:
I would have to say yes. I know a few people/kids that got it again. The doctors called the 2nd bout CP & not shingles.... One even had CP really bad the first time & still got it again. I wonder what the difference between shingles & CP is & if they were told right since Dana was told No..... HMMMM
i know, i'm not sure if i believe her. she's one of the new fresh-out-of-school dr's at our ped's office, so i need to ask him personally. she did mention that we can test her titers before she goes to school though.
jki thanks for the train info, i ordered the first one :)
celia sorry about milo's fall. ours is also on the lowest setting and i don't think noa could climb out if she wanted to. we'll probably transition her to a twin bed before her 2nd birthday.
Sal LOVE #2, I just picked Dylan's xmas cards up from Target and he was not looking either. They came out great and I'm so pleased.
AdamsPi I will definitely PM you this afternoon. Would love to chat with someone who is in the same boat.
Celia: Poor Milo! I hope he's okay. I'm surprised you didn't already have your crib at the lowest level! Ours has been at the lowest level since Jackson was 7 months! We follow Weissbluth (the author of Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child) and he says no bed until your child ASKS to sleep in one. I figure Jackson will be 3 before it occurs to him ask for a bed. I have heard of some having great success with crib tents. A mom in my mom's group moved her 18 month old to a toddler bed and now her DD wanders the house at night. I guess some people put a gate up at the child's door. I think it's just easier to stay in the crib!!
luckiestgirl: Yeah, I THOUGHT you could get CP twice! That Mountain Overpass/tunnel drives me nuts. DS LOVES it!
Sal03: I like picture 2. Dylan is so cute - I love his sweater! Yeah, you definitely need someone to entertain him while you snap pictures!
dana b: I am sure Noa will love the train set. All of the little girls in our playgroup LOVE Jackson's train stuff!
Dana B, I'm glad Noa only has a mild case of CP...poor thing! Do you have any ideas how she might have caught it?
Celia poor Milo, I'm glad he did not get hurt! I would definitely put the crib on its lowest setting ASAP. Tyler's crib has been on its lowest setting since he was about 7-8 months as well, he has never tried climbing out of it until recently...he hasnt' been successful but I have caught him trying to throw his leg over the side and it does scare me a bit. I really haven't thought about moving him and was recently wondering what I will do when we have #2, I would feel terrible moving him out of his crib before he was ready just because the new baby needs a crib. DH reminded me that that we aren't even pregnant and when #2 comes along s/he can stay in our room for several months before even needing a crib.:rolleyes:
Sal I haven't taken a good picture of Tyler since October so I know where you are coming from, despite that I think #2 is adorable, love his facial expression!
Gifts we got Tyler this kitchen:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000067BIS.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
It was a toss up between this one and the Step 2 previously posted, they both bot great reviews but we chose this one because it only takes 4 batteries as opposed to 12 with Step 2 kitchen, also DH claimed that other one looked too real (which is exactly what I likes about it:rolleyes: ). I let DH win this time since I know if DS likes the crappy old one my 5 year old nephew has, he will definitely love this one.:)
We also go him the matching Little Tikes shopping cart in blue, some books, some balls, and some Playskool Wheel Pals and other small things for his stocking.
For Hanukkah we got him a big ball, a ball pop thingy, color wonder markers and paper, some wood puzzles, and more books.
I also decided to wait for his 2nd birthday to do the easle and art supplies, I can't wait!:p
luckiestgirl - Thank you for sharing your experience with moving kids to a big bed. I'm due with #2 in January and don't want to buy another crib but want to delay moving Olivia to a big bed for as long as possible. I've heard some nightmare stories from other people! Since the new baby will be in a moses basket/bassinet for the first month or so, I think Olivia will be almost 2 by the time we move her to a big bed. I'm praying it goes smoothly! If anyone has good suggestions on how to do this with the least amount of disruption, please do share!
PS - We saw Santa on Saturday and let's just say that this photo will be one for the records - she wanted nothing to do with the bearded man. Someday she'll learn that he brings presents but this year I think he must've been her worst nightmare. I've never seen so many tears! :)
Simon had his 18 month WBV. He did not gain any weight from the prior visit. Still 22lbs 5 oz. Our ped is not pleased because kids are not supposed to flatline on the growth chart. It is bad enough that he went from a chunky guy to a skinny guy, but now he is stagnating. We are supposed to feed him all the fatty bad things we can. He needs to be between 23-24 lbs in the next 4-6 weeks. If he liked cheese, this would be so much easier.
Otherwise he is doing fine. He sleeps with us but naps in his toddler bed. He nurses a couple of times a day. Still talking a lot, over 100 words and sings along to some songs now too in english and spanish. It is cute.
We are moving too. I am so excited. We found a great place in OC. 5 bed/3 bath with a pool on almost 1/2 acre. The best part is that it is in a fantastic school district so Simon can go to Blue Ribbon schools. Yay. Our inspection is tomorrow and we should move by mid Jan.
Hi everyone,
Wow...must all be busy with the holidays. Slow night on tv, so here I am...shopping online, trying to write our xmas cards and checking to see if anyone else is around.
Jack just had his 18 month check up today. Boy, he sure knows that shots are coming...he started screaming as soon as the nurses tried to touch him (way before the shot time). Poor little guy. This was the first time I truely felt awful giving him the shots. He knew they were coming, he screamed like they hurt and then he acted a bit weird all day. So I let him watch this sign language video he's addicted to. He bangs on the tv and makes this hystarical meow noise. Hopefully he'll be back to his old self tomorrow.
Rositabean Congrats on the new house! That's amazing you were able to make such a smooth transition out to CA. And found a house and everything! What part of the OC are you living in? We have some good friends that just bought a place in San Clemente. We're still looking with the hopes the market will slow a bit and we'll be able to jump on something soon. Though I think DH would live in our apt forever if I don't make him buy a place. :) How's Simon's weight gain coming? Find any good fatty foods he likes? Jack didn't gain very much this last round either...must be just a slow growth time huh?
Oh, here's our holiday card:
Hapa That pic is adorable. I am so jealous you can take holiday card pics on the BEACH. We have snow all around here in NY. Posting here instead of April thread - Elsie is such a sweet name!
October Is this the ball popper thing you got? if so, it is Dylan's FAVORITE toy http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00007G39I.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Question for the ROs...are you doing anything (or did you do anything) to prepare DC for the baby coming? I just feel like Dylan would look at me like I am crazy if I start telling him there is a baby coming. He does not even know how to point to his own belly. maybe ina couple of months? We did get him a doll for hanukkah so I am hoping that will at least start teaching him not to hit the baby when she comes if we start teaching him to make nice now :rolleyes: he LOVES books so maybe I will get him a big brother book
Sal03:
Here are some ideas I have to prepare for the baby:
- The big brother book is a good idea. Jackson loves his and can relate to it. Maybe teach Dylan how to take care of the doll, give the doll a bottle, change his/her clothes, diaper, etc.? Maybe you could pretend to nurse?
- I also think you should reduce bedtime/naptime routines gradually until they are as short as possible. Jackson always had a pretty labor intensive routines and there was nothing worse than having to go through the bedtime routine with a screaming baby in the background. I'd try to cut stuff out of the routine and he would get really mad!!
- Try to expose Dylan to other babies - reinforce the idea of being gentle and only touching the baby's feet. (Touching hands/face are too germy!)
- Try to engage Dylan in independent play. He is going to have to entertain himself a lot once the baby comes. The train table, Mega Blocks and Little People are all things that Jackson does independently.
That's it for now... hope you're doing well!
sal
We got jack a baby doll that he plays with on rare occasions. He is interested in babies though and will say, "baby" but with his mouth closed. It's pretty funny. We also bought a "you're a big brother" book and he seems to like it. We point out the baby and call him the big boy/brother. I don't think he understands there's a baby in my belly, but he does sure seem to understand a lot of other stuff (like when I spilled some stuff in the fridge and swore...he said, "Uh oh.").
Did you decide against the Aria double? I haven't heard too many people being too happy with those Arias. And if you're used to the tight steering on the Maclaren, then the Aria might feel even worse. I'm tempted to get one of those Combi doubles. They're all loose feeling too, but I hear they're sturdier than the Aria. And my friend said she put her carseat in theirs...
I'll have to check out that ball popper toy...
beach
Yep, we're mighty lucky to be out on the beach. We actually saw some dolphins the other day and Jack even got to wear his Hawaiian shirt it was so warm. Good think we have nice weather, because Jack would go insane locked up in our tiny apt. So we do pay a price for the nice weather!
santa
We tried to see Santa today with a couple of jack's playmates, but all of the freaked out. smanley, looks like you're not alone. I guess they're at the freak out over strange drunk men with beards stage.
Sal that is the ball popper thing I got Tyler, I have heard great things about it so I'm sure he will love it.
Hapa I too am jealous that you were able to take such an adorable pictures, first because it's not blurry, second because it's on the beach!:p Like Sal said, there is snow over here in NY and the weather has been bitter cold. I think I'm going in sane trapped in the house with Tyler, thank goodness my friend called and we made plans with the kids tomorrow, Friday I babysit and the little girl I watch keeps Tyler busy, and then we finally make it the weekend!:D
Rosita congrats on the house, sounds great! I hope Simon starts putting on some weight. I'm worried about Tyler's weight too, at his 15 month WBV he was 20.9 oz and last week we weighed him with his clothes/shoes on the scale at the vet office (I know, I know) and he was 21.9 so I'm guessing he hasn't gained much once we remove the clothes, diaper, shoes..... He's just very picky and ofter skips both lunch and dinner.:(
I guess Tyler is in the minority, he had breakfast with Santa and was fine with it. He basically treated him like any other stranger, he sat on his lap and had a look on his face as to say...I will sit here but I don't really know who this person is, I guess it's ok if Mommy stays close by. I wish DH came with so he could get him to smile but as least he didn't cry. People were kept commenting on how good he was though. He was very excited to get his TY Beanie Buddy from Santa though.
And it has really snowed a lot here. I finally was the mean mommy and made Lewis wear boots. Lewis refused to wear any shoes with hard bottoms. He was just sit and scream and not stand up.
Noni Lewis looks adorable, I LOVE that picture of him out in the snow...he looks like such a big boy!:D
We took Tyler sledding a couple of weeks ago and he loved it, DH and I were dying from taking him up and down the hills but just when we swore it was the last time he would say MORE in the cutest little voice so we would start up the hill all over again.....the things we do for our children..:rolleyes:
OctoberPrincess we have yet to take Lewis sledding but it sounds like you all had a lot of fun we will need to find a sled!
luckiestgirlI think we got 6 inches it sure took its sweet time coming down! I shovelled 5 different times this past week. I figured I have to do all the shoveling since I am having plastic surgery when I am in Brazil next month that will take away my ability to shovel for the rest of this winter.
Santa might have held a grudge.. Lewis is only getting 1 gift for Christmas this year.. We had all our family donate any money they were going to spend on gifts for Lewis to charity. Lewis has a play room filled to the brim with more toys then anyone needs and we are not exchanging gifts with anyone this year. I am not dealing with the stress of it any more. Bah hum bug! heh I am hosting Christmas eve at my house and making Dinner for 15 so that is enough I think.
Noni Adorable pics of Lew! And such a nice idea about the holiday gifts and giving to charity.
October You are so good! we did not take dylan out in the snow. we were too cold! we just took pictures of him staring out the window at the snow. bad mommy and daddy :o
Luckiest Yay for your camera! I know you have been wanting one for a while
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions on how to prep dylan for new baby. I got him a big brother book and a doll and we'll go from there. I am also going to wrap up something for the new baby to give to him when he comes to the hospital. Not sure he even gets that concept yet but why not?
Hapa I think we have decided against the Peg. Just too many bad reviews. I am waiting for the 2006 Zooper to arrive in stores and will check that out. If we don't love it, I wait and just use the graco for a while. but everyone raves about the zooper so we may end up with that.
And in other news that I will share, Dylan is going to be working with a speech therapist twice a week. He still has no words except for the VERY occasional dada and mama. My ped suggested it and it is all free through a program called Early Intervention in NY state. And they come right to the house which is great. We were going to have a physical therapist too based on a recommendation but he is really finally walking almost all the time now and can finally get up on his own without pulling up on anything. We were a little sad that he is delayed in a few areas but he is the happiest child ever and very healthy knock on wood and we are just grateful for that. I just wanted to be proactive now because we do not want him to be the only kid in preschool not talking!
Yay!!! Congrats Jen!
So are you having mixed feelings about having a boy or are you just so excited? Sorry to hear you're feeling sick (ms or do you have a cold?). Hopefully you'll be back to your old self by the holidays. Any chance DH would reconsider and have another?
Luckiest
Wow lady! You got yourself a fancy schmancy camera! Love it! I got the Rebel XT which I really like, but I debated getting the 20D. Go take yourself some good pics and be sure to keep posting them here! Next stop...Photoshop! Hope you have a big hard drive for your computer too...
Noniitis
Cute pics!
Sal
Stroller--the never ending debate. :) I think that's a wise choice against the Peg stroller. Have you tried a Combi? They feel similar to me, but more people seem to like the Combis for some reason. A lady in town just posted a Phil and Ted's for $150 including the double seat. Doh! I spent $360 I think on a used on one ebay. Ouch! So now I'm debating if I should buy hers and the try to sell the other one to recoup some of the money. Only prob is that I'm not sure if I LOVE the stroller. Ahrg! But for $150 I could maybe get another lightweight one like a combi or maclaren...or even a graco or maybe the zooper. Arhg!
So Dylan's not a big talker huh? My brother hardly spoke a word until Kindergarten. I was his translator. He went to speech therapy too...I think he just wasn't a big talker...and still isn't really that talkative (not like his mom and sister anyway). ;) That's very cool that the therapist comes to your house and that it's free! Does Dylan like meeting with her?
Happy holidays to everyone!! Take care and have a healthy and wonderful week! And I hope all your online orders arrive in time! :)
love,
luckiestgirlThanks for the congrats. Great camera. Love it. We've got to get a new before the baby gets here. Love the pictures-I think Leah looks alot like her dad.
SalThanks! Thats great that the therapy is free and even better that they come to your house. I'll be curious to see what Josh's dr. says b/c he's not a talker either. He's recently learned uh oh and says that all the time but besides mama, dada that's pretty much it. Once we get to NJ we'll have to meet with our new ped. and see what he/she says.
hapahaoleThanks. I won't lie, I did want a girl. But once I found out we were having a boy I'm excited. Plus seeing him on the U/S made it all so real. I think the main thing was that I love girly things and buying girl clothes,dolls etc. That's okay, I've accepted it and I think it's great that Josh will have a brother so close in age and hopefully they'll be best friends.
No 3rd for us-dh isn't having it.:D
No m/s but an awful cold. Ugh I hate being sick while pregnant-can't take the good drugs.
NoniitisGreat pics. of Lew in the snow. JOsh loves the mirror too-it's so funny.
Well if I don't get back here I hope everyone has a great holiday!!!!! We're off to Florida in two weeks. Yay I can get rid of the winter coats for awhile.
Sorry I haven't been posting in awhile, Brady has kept me far too busy!
Santa He thinks Santa is the greatest thing and each time he saw him at various parties, he snuggled up to him with no problem. I hope he isn't this way with all strangers!
No more little boy... Well, yesterday he learned how to climb up onto the dining room chairs. Now he absolutely refuses to sit in his high chair! So I guess it is booster seat time for us full time now! I can't believe he is growing so fast!
Jen I understand your initial feeling of let down, I wanted a boy again this time since I have so much fun dressing up DS in his boy clothes that I was a little sad at first to learn this one was a girl... But I basically knew this one was a girl right from the start so it wasn't such a big surprise either.
*Brady absolutely loves the Christmas tree and gets so excited whenever he sees it.
*He totally loves taking a bath too, and will not get out until he is absolutely ready. He even bombards mommy or daddy when we are in the shower because he wants to come in too!
*He is now doing awesome going to bed and putting himself to sleep. I still need to go comfort him sometimes, but mostly he is sleeping through the night and taking good naps too! Finally!!!
*This pregnancy is going well. Baby is growing fine and we go back for the second US early Feb. in hopes the placenta has moved from blocking my cervix. DH and I still can't agree on a name, so hopefully we will have something worked out by the time this little girl shows up!
*All the aches and pains of pregnancy have started to set in and I hate it! My lower back/butt bone area is so sore and achy a lot of the time and my hips have now decided to join in! The acid reflux has also started to kick into high gear so I will be happy once I pop this baby out!
Happy Holidays everyone!
Hi everyone!
Out of the blue, I got a reply notice which I never get anymore so it prompted me to come check on you all.
Congrats to all the ROs!
I think it's funny too that most of you who had boys the first go round are having girls for the 2nd.
I am the rare case (every once in a while I run into someone with the same mindset) who wants another boy (if not all boys if we opt for more than 2) but DH wants a girl and I would like to give him one because he is such a sensitive soul and I know it would be such a wonderful experience for him. Not that having a son is not but I think YKWIM.
And no I am not pregnant but I have been starting to think about it more. Just still pretty scared at going through a repeat of last time with the b/f'ing issues and PPD.
One of the moms in my MOMS Club who is a former preschool teacher and one of those people who just loves kids so much and is really good with them decided to stop after 2 because of the PPD so I know it can be that bad a 2nd time.
Anyway, don't mean to be a downer but that's what we have this board for, is to share, right? ;)
I don't think I have posted since Holden had to be in the hospital right before Halloween (got out on Halloween). They thought he had pneumonia but the x-ray came back negative. It was pretty scary but he is completely fine now and he just had his 18 month appt and the Dr. said he's growing well and everything so we are thankful he doesn't seem to be having any lasting effects.
He says anything and everything now, it's so cute. Some of my favorite things he says are "bess oos" (when we sneeze and) "uv ooh" when we says I love you to him. He also says "bease" (please) and "bayoo" (bear) in such a cute way it makes me smile every time.
He's getting better at using a spoon and fork.
His hair is pretty curly in the back and he keeps getting mistaken for a girl but I can't bring myself to cut it yet.
He's growing up so fast!
I am jealous of those of you who have gotten train tables and those kitchens! I want both of those things but we just have no where to put them! Our house is small but not tiny (1320 sq ft) but we only have 2 bedrooms and no basement.
We got Holden the same doll as Sal posted (and I'm planning to get him a little stroller for it too yet), a step a sound mat, a Discovery toys toddler castle marble works, a little tiny little people 2 wheeler, lots of books, and a shopping cart (Melissa - where did you find a blue one, ours is little tikes but red and I am not a fan of red) plus some other little stuff. Way too much IMO but apparently I have a problem. :rolleyes:
Well, I need to get us ready for our MOMS Christmas pot luck.
If I don't get back here before the holiday I hope you all have a WONDERFUL one!
Tish great to see you! glad holden is doing well. and I know what you mean, I kind of wanted another boy this time!
Hapa my friend has the combi and never uses it, only uses her graco. even in the most upright position, they are still pretty reclined. I am taking a break on the stroller search for a while!
I went to tour a preschool today!! :eek: It was so weird seeing all the little cubbies and the kids doing arts and crafts! I am starting Dylan in September for two hours on Tuesday mornings and it goes until June. It sounds like a great program and will ease the transition for both of us! I go with him for the first few months and it is a regular pre-school curriculum with circle time, play, crafts, music, snack... Then after a few months they start to transition the moms out of the room into the room next door where the kids still see them but are away a little. Then by February I just drop him off. With Dylan having his delays in a few areas there is no way he would be ready for regular preschool at 2 so this is perfect and a way for me to spend some alone time with him once the new baby comes. Then in February I'll have some alone time with the new baby. Plus when he goes a few days a week the following september when he is 3, he will already be completely familiar with the class structure and location and all that.
Dylan has his first speech therapy session yesterday. The woman was really nice and just wanted him to get to know her so they just played. They are also working on all of his communication delays. He does not wave, point, nod or shake his head. He does not know how to communicate what he wants other than just staring at something and whining so this will help him with all that. We were kind of upset about all this at first, but he'll just see all this as someone coming to play with him and better to work on it now rather than later.
Hope all the toddlers are doing well!!
Hi everyone! Hope everyone is looking forward to the upcoming holidays. Milo has been waking up every night...several times this month! I think it may be teething. He had a mysterious fever one night and then about a day later had diarrhea a few times. He has been sleep trained since 9 months so this getting up in the middle of the night is killing me! Here are a couple of pics of my sweet boy...
Here he is watching The Wiggles
Kelli -
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am starting to have baby fever, I think, so it will be good to keep those things in mind because like I said, I am still scared. It really was hell! Sometimes I think I almost have PTSD because of it.
So cool that you got your camera you've been wanting!
Sal -
I also cannot believe one of our little ones is starting preschool soon! WOW!
Celia -
Milo looks so grown up in his Christmas picture! His sweater is so cute, esp with the bear in the pic too.
Well, I just wanted to stop back by and wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
Celia Milo is always such a cutie!
Tish LOVE the holiday card. what a happy little guy!
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!! It has been madness chasing Dylan around people's houses. Now we are going away for two nights with my mom's whole family for a reunion type thing which should be more fun, especially since Dylan seems to have a little cough. But he has only had one cold in his whole life so I should really be so thankful he is so rarely sick.
Oh and about the pre-school, yes it is so weird, but it is still only a pre-pre school. Just one day a week for two hours and I go with him for the first half of the year. I figure that will really ease the transition for both of us for when he goes for real at 3.
Ok, we are off soon. Going to Stride Rite first. Heard they are having a great after Christmas sale!!
Hello Mamas!
Sorry that I have been away for so long......things have been busy with me/us. The biggest news is that I resigned from my job and have registered to begin Nursing School in January. I've decided to get my R.N. and then going to take the classes and do the teaching hours that I need to sit for the Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.) exam. I am going to school part-time (I only need to take 12 classes for the nursing degree) so I should hopefully be able to be here a little more.
Alexander is doing well. He is becoming more and more independent every day. He loves to read and play outside. He has an incredible imagination. He uses about 20-25 words and knows others if asked "where's this or that?" Most recently, if you ask "Where's Alexander?" He points to himself.....the first time he did it I swear I almost cried!
Here are his most recent photos from Christmas. We used the full photo for framing and the close up for wallets:
https://www.searsphotos.com/ImageServer/dep_show_line_item.aspx?I=DAAA5D3F-4659-4A93-AD69-9CCEEDB06C4D&C=Nat https://www.searsphotos.com/ImageServer/dep_show_line_item.aspx?I=AB736B40-E3FC-42CC-A9A7-A34D05FBD1B1&C=Nat
Christmas was fun.......we all received so many nice things. And, now comes the best part - - - unboxing, trying-on, buying more batteries, returns. LOL. I will post some photos as soon as I get them downloaded.
I guess that's all the news for now. I'm *subscribing* and will be back soon.
Hey, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and start to Hannukah!
Tyler was very overwhelmed with all the gifts and people but really enjoyed Christmas morning when he had much more energy and the house was quiet. The Kitchen is, by far, his favorite gift (that we opened) and he has not stopped playing with it since Sunday morning.
Titia Holden is adorable in his Chirstmas picture! It's so nice to hear from you. We ordered the shopping cart from JCP online, just search for "shopping cart". I haven't seen it anywhere else and I had a free shipping code. It also comes with a some fruits and play money, very cute IMO.
Luckies girl nice camera! I've been lusting after the Digital Rebel but having a hard time convincing DH that we should get one (he's suffering sticker shock).
Lildan great to hear from you, Alexander is so cute!
Celia Milo is such a cutie, love those lips! We were considering purchasing the harness he has in the 4th picture, do you really find it helpful???
Sal the preschool you have enrolled Milo into sounds fantastic! Nice to know things are going well with therapist.
