So in my new gossip mag, it had a picture of Anne Hathaway being shown as a 'diva' on the set of her new movie, The Devil Wears Prada. Sure enough, this book is becoming a movie.
I really liked this book but it gave me such a headache to read. Seriously, I actually FELT the stress that Andrea (Hathaway) felt in the book. Meryl Streep is playing Miranda. Not sure if I like that but I do think Hathaway will do an excellent job. Just what I pictured.

I truly can't believe this book is being made into a movie. I'm all for fun "chick lit" or whatever, but this really was one of the most poorly written published works I have ever read. I was completely disgusted with myself for having read it.

ITA. I took it on my honeymoon to Jamaica. The only reason I finished reading it was because I needed something to occupy my time while I laid in the sun and there wasn't a Barnes and Noble I could run out to to get anything else.

I read the book and thought it was good.... idk about it being made into a movie though. And yeah, it stressed me out too...

I think Anne Hathaway is a little young to play Andrea, but oh well. I'm SO excited for this movie!!! I loved the book!

Is this going to be a made-for-tv movie or an actual movie that goes to the theaters?
I am curious to check it out. I did read the book and it stressed me out.

I have not read this book, and I have it on at the library. After reading what has been posted I am not sure how i am going to feel about this book. Will post a response after I read.

I think it's pretty well cast, at least -- while I don't see Meryl visually matching my mind-idea of Miranda, she certainly can pull off the attitude.
I enjoyed the book. It was a very quick read. I don't know that I would pay to see it as a movie though.

I finished this book at the end of last week. I have to say it was hilarious. I don't know any real life people in their right mind who wouldn't have slapped the taste outta Miranda's mouth on Day 1.
Pay to see the movie..ummm...think I'll wait til its available to rent, just to see how they reenact the scenes from the chapters in the book. Usually when a book is made into a movie it is almost NEVER as good as the book.

I was wishy washy on the book. I liked parts about it but thought other parts could have been rewritten.
I think what intrigues me most is that it is so different from my own life so I had to read till the end.
I will probably see it (I see most movies anyway!) but I know I won't be able to drag Hubby to it. It will be in the theaters. The people were predicting next fall.

I really liked the book :)
I'll wait to rent the movie when it comes out.

I thought the book was funny because some people do treat their PA's like that around here. You always know when someone is an assistant-something-or-other because they are very thin, balancing 4 huge coffees, 2 heavy bags, a piece of drycleaning and chasing after someone with a very expensive handbag. ;)
I didn't expect someone like Meryl Streep - I pictured something else. But I do hope it's a fun movie!
(BTW: So far only The Land of Sand and Fog has impressed me going from book to film)

Meryl Streep as Anna Wintour? Nah. And Hathaway, well...she's been so prominent in Disney pie-in-the-sky movies that I think she doesn't quite have the right visibility. Even if she's talented, it will be hard for her to overcome being the "princess".
I also was terribly stressed out reading the book. I am so glad to find company, I thought I was seriously deranged for getting so caught up!

I wasn't too impressed with the book. On the contrary, I wanted to slap some sense into Andrea. Miranda reminded me of the Amanda character Heather Locklear played on Melrose Place. I think Heather would have been perfect for that role. Meryl Streep is a bit too old for it. I'd watch on it TV but wouldn't pay $10 to see it in theater.

Ditto, I could not agree more. I HATED this book and I think it's a first. I only finished reading it because I wanted to see if anything else (other then the constant complaining about her job) would come of the plot. I can't believe an entire book was written just on someone complaining about their employer.

I didn't care for the book, either. As the PP said, I only finished it because I wanted to see what happened. Will be interesting to see how they make a movie out of it, though.
