I did a pre-screening at a a conventions in my town. I took my shoe off and put my foot into some sort of machine. It showed that I had significant bone loss. I have 23. My mother (almost 60) had one done as well and had LESS bone loss than me.

I called my OB/GYN to have a bone density test screening. They kinda gave me some flack about doing it and still may or may not do it. Anyone have any advice or no anything about this? I mean I am waaay to young to have bone loss....

HAve you ever been on depo?
my dr told me to get off it because it causes permanent bone loss when used for an extended period of time.

My mom has osteoporosis. She has shrunk 2 inches! It's amazing. I keep thinking I need to start taking calcium supplements. People with bone loss can also break bones much more easily. I'm glad you're getting checked.

Stop drinking soda, which depletes minerals. Best of luck.

I took a bone screening test at a chiropractor's office. It showed I had some bone loss as well. I mentioned it to a couple of my doctors and they just laughed and told me not to worry. My grandmother has osteoporosis pretty bad, so I am going to do my best to prevent. Unfortunately too much calcium gives me migraines, so I am taking magnesium (which they are now thinking is actually better to take than calcium). Lifting weights is supposed to be a great preventative as well.
