And does it help to prevent colds/get over colds faster?
Since my kids started day care and I started school, the 4 of us have been passing colds and viruses back and forth nonstop. It's really getting old to be sick all the time! I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to try Airborne to help prevent some of these colds. I know the kids can't take it, but DH and I could.

I take it when I feel as though I might be coming down with something, and I always take one right before I go into any crowded place for any extended period of time (i.e. a cross-country flight). I don't know for sure if it plays a huge role in deterring illness, but I like it and it definitely gives me a boost of energy. I'd say go ahead and try it...

Is it sad, that I don't want to try it...just because Greg Brady was in the commercial :p?
Seriuosly though, my mother has tried it. I'll have to ask her about the results.

We are a big group of travelers in my office and we all swear by it!

I use is ALL the time and LOVE it. I keep at least three bottles of it at my house at all time and one in my car. Whenever I start to feel like I've got something coming on I make sure to take some Airbourne. They also make a children's Airbourne now.

I use it a lot too, and it definitely helps. You have to take it when you first think you might get a cold, though it can shorten regular colds. Another good product is Zicam -- it's zinc in various forms (I like the nose swabs best -- the oral ones taste pretty nasty), and it in conjunction with Airborne can really help head off a cold.

I swear by airborne also taken with Zicam! This stuff really works!

I've heard great things about it. The CRAs I work with swear by it as they are always on the road. I'm going away on business this month and plan to take it.

By the way, they make it for kids now too! It's called Airborne Jr.

I am a teacher and I use it all of the time. I recomend to take it in a VERY small glass and kind drink it like a shot. It does not have the best flavor, but i really does help out a lot! :)

Love it. The key to me as others have said is to drink RIGHT when you first feel that scratchy throat, or first sneeze/sniffle.

Thanks, everyone. I picked up a package of the adult Airborne today at the pharmacy and it's sitting in wait for the next cold. I haven't seen the children's version anywhere but I am definitely going to keep it in mind for my kids if they're old enough. Ava is 3 and Grey is not quite 2, so they might still be a little young.
Thank you for the feedback!

My husband and I both took this like crazy when we felt like we were getting sick in Italy, and we both got sick anyway. Actually, I got really sick, and then I think I got him sick - the Airborne did nothing for either of us.
That said, one of my friends swears by it, which is why we took it with us in the first place.

It has never worked for me either, but I keep trying (because I enjoy drinking disgusting beverages?). Maybe I'll try it with the Zicam.
I can trace just about every cold I get to airplanes (or perhaps airports, since there was just that study about airplane air not being worse than other air)--I went a few months without traveling, and had no colds. Started traveling again, and I've had 2 in 3 weeks.
I've used it, but I think the cold was already starting to set in. It didn't taste too poorly. I got the lemon lime kind. Almost tasted like seven-up or sprite.
Agree - lemon lime is definitely the way to go!

Airbourne can be hard on your stomach. It causes me to have diarrhea (as high concentrations of vitamin C usually does.)

I swear by it, too. Last month I had to get the pink grapefruit because they were out of lemon-lime and it was gross. I couldn't even swallow all of it. LL is the way to go!

I've never taken it but Oprah says it's great. So it must be true! :D
Seriously though I know several people who swear by it.

Don't waste your money and drink a glass of oj instead.
In fact, didn't they remove the word "cold" from the box because it didn't stand up to the claims?

I took it for the first time in October when I had all of the cold symptoms already. It really helped shorten my cold. I agree the lemon-lime flavor is the way to go.

I could have written this post. First sneeze or first *hint* of a scratchy throat and it seems to work. If you wake up with an already sore throat, it's too late.
Looking at the ingredients, the one that pops out is the 16x recommended daily allowance for vitiamin C. The stuff is basically a vitamin C bomb.

Lemon lime is for sure the way to go, but I agree, it has to be at the very first sign, and you have to be good about taking it every three hours for it to really work. I have a 3.5 year old, and a one year old, and it has worked for me in the past. I also suggest putting it in a little warm/hot water, and take it like a shot, as a PP said.

Are we sure that's not Tammie Faye? And WTH? "Consumers are really not scientifically minded enough to be able to understand a clinical study."
Anyway, DH and I take it a lot and it seems to help. And both of us really like the Pink Grapefruit flavor.

My DH (almost a doctor-can't wait until next year!) looked at the ingredients, and it's basically a sugar pill. Just read the back. There is nothing in it that will protect from a cold. Take vitamin C instead.

Well, yeah, but I think the appeal is it's a certain blend of vitamins & herbs that is specifically made for colds that you can get in one shot, rather than taking a bunch of different pills. I don't think anyone's expecting a magic pill, and it doesn't take a dr. to understand the ingredients;). It's genius marketing, if you ask me, but that doesn't mean it's useless.

I swear by it because I am a teacher and get coughed/sneezed at a million times a day. Last winter I took it daily and was cold free all winter! This year I just started again and we had a major case of a bad cold that EVERYONE of my students and 5th grade teachers got and "knock on wood" I have been fine! I think it must be a little more than a sugar pill because before I started taking it I was sick quite often.
Actually this summer we went to Atlantic City and I forgot to take it because I was out of routine (always take it when in casinos because of all the germs)
and I came down with a terrible cold.
When I have gotten a cold in the past I have noticed that they last a lot shorter than DH's. I take it and he always forgets or doesn't take it as often.
I like the grapefruit flavor best and also take it like a shot!

I looked at a package of this stuff for the first time, and isn't basically a glorified vitamin?
When I feel like I am getting sick, I take vitamins. I take a multi-vitamin, and an extra vitamin C and zinc. Sometimes I will also take echinaecia (sp?) but that has not been proven to help a cold, despite popular belief. Zinc has though.
Other things I have heard to try include a brisk walk (because exercise boosts the immune system), if you feel the *very* first signs of a cold.
If you already have the cold- keep taking vitamins. But drink tons of water and get tons of rest!
