I just finished reading this today and loved it. I was wondering if anyone else has read it or if they've seen the movie. How does it compare?

I just finished the book yesterday and I loved it too!! I haven't seen the movie yet but I want to so that I can compare it to the book. It was such a good read and kept me interested the entire time! This is the first book I have read of Jennifer Weiner's and I really enjoyed her writing.

I just finished this last night and I liked it. I think there were a few loose ends I wish she'd taken care of, but overall it was good. I liked it better than Good in Bed and Little Earthquakes.

I don't know if I'll see the movie. It annoys me that they chose Cameron Diaz. She goes against the whole character description.

I read the book when it first came out and love, love, loved it. I was wary re: the movie, but I saw it last Friday and really liked it. The movie is very thoughtful-and by that I mean it really treats the characters like characters and not caricatures.

Ella as played by Shirley Macclaine is awesome in the movie. Sassier and stronger than in the book. Toni Collette is really wonderful as Rose. Cameron wasn't bad either.

The movie sticks to the book plot overall (the omit the Princeton sequence but make up for it in a different way). I was so psyched to see Philly so prominently featured in the film. :)

Go see it! It was very enjoyable.

I can't wait to see the movie, but I liked Good In Bed better than In Her Shoes and Little Earthquakes.

Interesting - I liked both of the other two better. I may end up seeing the movie when my local library gets it on DVD, but I'm so annoyed by their idea of Rose being "overweight" when the actress looks thin. I think that Rose was probably less heavy than she thought she was, but I still picture her being 50 pounds or so overweight.

I finished the book on monday and saw the movie yesterday. I think the movie was pretty true to the book. Yeah there was some obvious changes but I like how they were able to connect certain things with out going on and on about it.
I cried my eyes out watching Cameron Diaz as Maggie.

I know what you mean by Hollywood standards she's chubby. Sad but true.

I wasn't too impressed by the book, it was standard chick lit without too much depth. The shoe fetish wasn't that believable to me because any woman who seriously obsseses over designer shoes will not buy Nine West and Steve Madden. There's just no comparison between Chanel and Nine West. That plus the chopped up end, really bothered me.

Not true! Check out the Gurus of Shoes thread!

I was really impressed with the book. I had already read "Good in Bed" and saw the movie withour realizing it was Jennifer Wiener so I was really worried about reading the books because I was afraid my interpretations would be slanted by the movie, but overall I was impressed. The book (like ususal) provided more character development and I agree that Ella was much stronger in the movie, I found her way too sappy in the book.

Simon was sure hot in the movie eh? He won me over at the resteraunt.

Hi guys,

What was the name of the poem that Cameron Diaz's character read at the end of the film, during the wedding? I think it was by ee cummings or emily dickinson? I really loved that poem.

Thanks,
Mooshie

I read the book a while ago and just saw the movie the other night. I thought the casting was great and they stayed true to the book. Simon was nothing like a pictured him! I really enjoyed both the book and the movie.

I'm reading the book right now. So far it's just alright. I'm only on the 2nd part, so I'll continue to read it.

Yeah. He was much hotter in the movie than he was in my mind. I developed a tiny crush. *blush*

I just finished the book the other day and really enjoyed. Now I'm desperately waiting for the movie to come out on DVD. Whenever that may be!
