"Big brother" gift [Archive]

My friend is having a baby this week, and I want to get something for her 2-year old son, a big brother gift. Any ideas? He's very into the Wiggles!

I think anything fun would be great for a big brother. The baby is going to get so much attention that any older sibling can get jealous.

It's very nice of you to remember him. :)

We just did this for our friend's two year old! He's really into baseball, so we got him a Baseball Training Pack-- cards and diagrams and all sorts of stuff-- a lot of which is over his head right now-- but the idea was that he could study up on baseball so that he can be ready to teach his little brother how to play. It went over really well- he got so excited when he realized his new brother wouldn't always be sucking on mom's boob! :D

what I've done for a few friend's kids when a new baby was born was make up a little canvas tote bag of little $1 or cheap goodies. I did an iron-on transfer that said "Big Brother X" and other clip art images. (I did colored bags and learned that I didn't use the right iron-ons for colored fabric, but they look much better using light/white fabric). I added a button to wear. I also had a mini photo album and wrote in permanent colored markers the names of the older sibling and the new baby. And again, just added a few gifts that were age appropriate.
