obsessively licking her paws where her hair was trimmed between. She's never had this done before. I got her in the car and she starting putting her feet in her mouth. I looked at them when I got home and it was kind of red between her toes and now she's licking them and her pads raw. The groomer and the boarding supervisor both said she was fine all weekend, that she didn't do anything to her feet that they know of. Could the shorter hair between her pads be irritating her? What should I do?

It could possibly be irritating her. I might try spraying bitter apple on her pads, that should stop her from licking/chewing her feet.

Did they give her a bath also? I wonder if she is allergic to the shampoo they used.

If the red between her paws is more of a rust instead of blood color it could be from the licking. When my dog was a puppy, he had allergies and would lick at his paws, developing a rust red staining. I don't know what causes the discoloration. I would try the bitter apple unless his paws truly are raw... If they're raw, the bitter apple will sting badly and possibly make him lick in spite of the yucky taste. I'd call the vet and see what they recommend.

The area was just pink like normal and then turned red the more she licked. It is getting better now though, she is licking them less. I think the short hair felt weird or weird on her tounge or something so she wouldn't stop licking it til she got used to it. It is possible she was allergic to the shampoo, but she's not itchy anywhere else so probably not. But she does seem to have alot of mild allergies. Thanks for the replies.
