If anyone is sew-savvy or had their bedding made, can you give me the approximate yardage requirement of a traditional-sized crib bumper and dust ruffle? I found a great deal on the perfect fabric but haven't yet found someone to do the sewing...so I'm lacking their advice. The seller of the fabric says her one yard is 36x54. What's the minimum I would need for these two items? The fabric's not expensive, so rough estimates on the high side are perfectly fine. I just don't want to bring home seven yards when all I needed was three! Thank you.

My MIL made our crib bumper, so let me give her a call today and ask her. Sorry that I can't help ya with the dust ruffle part(we didn't use one!) but perhaps you could find a pattern or plans online for it, and it would tell you how much you need?

Thanks so much! If she has an opinion on the dust ruffle, I'd be open to hearing it. I did check online and found an HGTV page with instructions. It's telling me 4+ yards for each item, which is more than I expected. I want to see if other opinions are close to that.

I bet the 4+ yards is due to one of the following reasons:
A) the dust ruffle is ruffly (I made a non-ruffly dust ruffle); or
B) it's including the part that lies underneath the mattress, which you sew the edges of the dust ruffle onto.
