Ok...I have a 2 year old welsh terrier that has never been perfect with housetraining (Won't go outside in a down pour rain). Lately he has been horrible with accidents. It is not the occasional accident but right in front of our face. No real change in anything. We moved in June and he had done rather well that. We don't leave him out when we are not home. Any tips? I am thinking of going right back to the training we did when he was a puppy. My DH is not very good at enforcing when I am gone to work. Any help would be appriechiated. I am so frustrated!!

Wow. If he is 2 and not yet housetrained, I would buy him a crate and start using it. Dogs shouldn't want to sit in their own feces and urine so it will make them less likely to have accidents. I think you should talk to your vet about this too. Its going to take commitment from both you and your DH to train your dog to stop this behavior, so make sure your DH is up to the task.

Thanks! We do use the crate. The frustrating thing is he normally does not have an accident unless it is pouring or we are in a strange place.H e has been having accidents is very odd places- he peed on the exact spot he sleeps on and on his bed downstairs. This is all in the past 2 weeks. I have been taking him out on the leash and giving treats and praise.

I think a vet visit is in order. He has also been throwing up and sleeping a lot lately.
Thanks keep it coming!

When you said it was a recent development, I immediately thought maybe he was not feeling well and was going to suggest a vet visit...then I read two lines down and saw that you said what I was thinking.

The other thing is to start over with crate training and be very strict with it. Put Nature's Miracle over the places he peed so he won't mark there anymore.
