Cost to recarpet

Anyone have any experience with recarpeting? What does it cost, ballpark?

We have 1750 square feet to be recarpeted, fwiw.

It can really range in price - it all depends on how long you want the carpet to last. We recently recarpeted and for mid-priced carpet it cost around $3.00 per square foot - we were told with proper care it should last 10 years. We did get a bit of a price break because we have a friend who sells carpet.

Home Depot sells carpet at $2.50 a sq. ft. and up (include install, and a free pad) - we are looking to do that for the bedrooms with our home remodel.

The carpet we found at HD was about $3.50 a sq. ft. I've heard that your carpet will last a lot longer if you upgrade your pad. Anyone know how much pad upgrades cost?

Our carpet guy told us the same thing, so we upgraded the pad. I don't remember how much it was, but it was minimal - 30 cents a square foot or something like that.

We found that a low to mid grade carpet with a mid to thick carpet pad will cost us about $3.00 a square foot installed.

We did our house (I would say that 2000 of the 2800 is carpeted) and through the builder, it cost us about $7000.

We recarpeted our 1400 sq ft house and it cost $5000. We got the Dupont Stainmaster carpet with a 15 year no stain warranty and the highest quality pad we could get.
