Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Mystikal and Lizard!
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistress would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if I get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

In the purely innocent spirit to save your sanity (meaning I hope you don't take this wrong), by the looks of your temps...I don't think you Oed yet *ducking for cover*
Soulmate, no need to duck for cover around me. I am the non-violent type. I appreciate your input, but with so little temp info how can you tell? I scanned some other random charts and there were plenty of BFP's with the highest temps around where mine are now. Is there some info I am missing? I really just started temping now to get in to the habit of doing it every morning so I'd be prepared next cycle. I wasn't actually expecting any info out of it.
I don't know if this means anything in the TTC context, but my doctors have always told me I have a low body temp and I am always cold.

Congratulations, Calla!
Oh polkadot, I just went back to our old thread and saw that AF arrived. I'm so sorry. I hate how our charts can look so good, get out our hopes up, and then have the bottom fall out. You are right though--a new cycle, a new fresh start! Good luck!
FF says I'm 12DPO and possibly trisphasic on CD27. It also says, "You may test now. You may be pregnant!" Nice to read. Too bad we all disagree with the O date they gave me. I did buy some HPTs yesterday. I'm thinking about testing tomorrow but will try to hold out at least until Monday (when I'll be 12DPO for real).

My temp finally took a nosedive this morning, so AF should officially be here any time now. What's so annoying is that my LP is so long that Ovusoft says "Pregnant??"....NO B!TCH, I'M NOT!

Hi ladies- I've been lurking awhile and I was waiting for the begining of my next cycle to offically join up, but I figured a new thread was just as good a time.
WC Name: same as here
Me: Michelle, 22
DH: Aaron, 23
Married since: Sept 4th 2004
Angel: Allison Grace, born and died June 17 2005
Off BCP since: Never on BCP
TTC (again) since: August 2005
Charting since: Charted August, took September off, and now starting again.
Known issues/test results: None at this time
Chart: http://www2.fertilityfriend.com/home/64d1c
Current status: Today is CD35, lastcycle was only 31 days. No idea when/if I o'ed, I've had 3 or 4 BFN's, but no AF either. So I think for now stick me in "What the bleep...."
Anyway, like I said, not sure what's going on with me. I'm just ready for this cycle to end! ETA: I'm really still very new to this whole charting thing. I think you ladies rock and I'm excited to learn a lot in this thread. :)

Congrats to all the BFPs! I can't even keep track even more--it's getting crazy in here :)
Sorry to hear about AF polkadot :(
Sorry about your temp drop Babylove.... Stupid fertility software is playing with your mind!
Amurphy - You're the queen of patience! I would have test by now :) Looking good so far though!
I have to agree with everyone regarding the TomKat baby thing. I was kinda annoyed that they have been dating for @ 8 months-- and bam their having a baby. *sigh* I wish it were that easy for me! Also, I had the BIGGEST celebrity crush on Tom in high school/college (around the time Mission Impossible/Jerry Maguire were out) and now he creeps me out...
So, I finally talked to the nurse at my Dr. office yesterday and I have an appointment for ANOTHER u/s next Tues. I'm skipping the drugs this month-- the doc wants to concentrate on why my cycles are so short. I'm hoping that my body will still ovulate-- who knows-- so the charting continues. The one positive sign I see is that my pre-O temps are higher than they used to be (they used to be between 96.4-96.8). I don't know if that means anything though!
Good luck to everyone testing this weekend-- I'm sure I'll be around to check in...

Morning! I'm still on the boring side of the cycle - CD 5. I forgot to temp this morning - not sure what happened there, but I'm pretty sure it won't matter. Not thinking I'm going to O quite yet!
Congratulations to all those BFP I missed in the last thread. Hopefully we'll be able to close down another October thread just as quickly!!

Ladies, I think I am going to take a break from charting for at least this month, maybe longer. I'll still be checking in from time to time, and we are still TTC but I think we are going to go with the seeing what happens approach for a bit. Babydust to all and good luck to all the BFPs that I haven't congratulated yet.

Congrats Calla!! Happy & Healthy 9 months to you.
I think AF has FINALLY left the building today... thank goodness...
My DH is out of town this weekend which is fine. I hope I O this month... but it wouldn't be until late next week at the earliest I think. I'm on CD 10 today? After 5 months of no O - I'm ready for my ovaries to get working... I think I need to have a private chat this weekend to get them kick started :D
I am really hoping that we get PG in the next couple months. It's been 9 months of trying (although to be honest, not Oing for 5 months has made it very difficult)
** Back story - my DH and I moved to Colorado in April, and my system must not have liked it much. Hoping now that we have moved into the house and are settled, all will go back to "normal".
Babylove Sorry about AF! Hope next month works for you and that just the threat of a RE kicks it's butt.
Hope to spend more time in here getting to know a lot of people I don't know well. This thread does move more quickly than I can often keep up with. I am a convert from the WC days and started back in January.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Welcome Michelle!! You have joined at the right time, the graduates are flying out the door! :D
Bellefior, take all the time you need. I keep switching back and forth between wanting to take a break, and wanting to chart. It's hard to tear myself away from that thermometer.
Amurphy... I know I say every month that I liike your chart, but this month I REALLY like it. :D It looks fantastic!! I really hope the next time I check in, you've got a big ol' + sitting on it.
My temp went up this morning, so it appears I O'ed, yay. My cycle appears to be slowly extending itself... not sure why. I'm calling my gyn today to make my appointment for my annual, since that's overdue, and I want to briefly discuss with him what our next steps will be. I'd at least like to try to get DH in for an SA if nothing happens this month. Knowing my gyn, my appt. probably won't be for another month or so... he is always so busy.

Hi! I would love to join up! I belonged to this thread on the WC, but dropped out because I wasn't ovulating and had nothing to share. Everything I know about charting and MOST of what I know about how my body works is from the very knowledgeable ladies on these threads. So thanks everyone:) .

P.S. Since I've never gotten to this point before, I have a question. At what point do your temps drop? If you're PG, do they stay up? Do they drop before or at AF time? I'm just not sure what temps are supposed to do at the end of the cycle. Thanks.

Welcome, jbenny!
To answer your questions....a temp drop usually happens right before you get AF. Some people (me) get a temp drop and AF on the same day. Some people will get AF the next day. It varies from person to person. If you are pg, your temps should stay up. If you search for pg charts on FF you can see that pattern. Good luck!

Calla, CONGRATS!!!!! What wonderful news! H&H 9 months to you!
amurphy, crossing my fingers for you!
LDS Angel, welcome. I hope you're blessed with a BFP soon!
bellefior, good luck.
CTs Punkin, I hope you O soon!
jbenny, welcome! If you get PG, your temps will stay high. If you're not, then they drop, sometimes a day or so before AF, or sometimes even after AF arrives. Personally, my temps seem to stay pretty high until about CD5 or so. Then they drop down. But then again, my body is doing weird things and I'm definitely not "normal"!
CD5 here and waiting to hear from the doc. I had my CD4 bloodwork done yesterday and they said they hoped to have results today. The doc won't give me the Clomid till she sees the results. Anyone know if you can start Clomid later than CD5? I'm not holding out much hope of getting the results back so fast (last time they took a full week), and I really don't want to waste this whole cycle. If I haven't heard from the doc by about 3, I'm going to call and see what I can find out. I hate not knowing what's going on and not having a clear plan!
Hugs to all others. Bring on more BFPs!

Lizard What is it with gyn appt's being so hard to get? I had to switch mine (insurance) and ended up waiting over 3 months because I was a new patient. Midwest thing?
gymwidow I know nothing of Clomid, but I'm crossing my fingers that you can get those test results back today so you can use this cycle to it's fullest. :)
Nothing much going on here. 8DPO.... bought some cheapie tests on the internet Wed. night, so I'll probably test early if I get them in time. Otherwise, I'm going to try to hold out until next Thurs/Friday. I'm trying not to become a POAS addict this early in the game. :p

Hey everyone! Well, AF showed up with a vengeance today. I am having horrible, horrible cramps. We have company coming into town, so I took the day off to clean house and run errands which is good because I got to sleep in an extra hour this morning after taking something for the cramps. So...Threadmistress, you can move me to "waiting to O."
Welcome LDSAngel and jbenny!
Sorry to the others who are being visited by AF.:(
Bellefior~I completely understand the need to step away and just SWH. I was kind of considering doing the same yesterday. This can get a bit overwhelming at times. Best of luck to you.
I had an interesting conversation this morning with the lady who does my pedicures, brow waxing, facials, etc. I am really breaking out badly. I have never had bad skin - it started around March. I asked her today what to do about my skin to help clear it up. I told her that I went off BCP in December and then had 10 migraines between then and the beginning of March. Then around the beginning of March is when my skin started acting up. I have not had cramps like I do now since I was a teenager (pre-BCP). Even the last few cycles haven't been like this when AF showed. So this is what we came up with and I want to see what you all think.
1. The migraines were in the initial phase of going off BCP and my hormones were crazy (this is my doctor's reasoning).
2. Second phase of going off BCP starts and my skins starts getting out of control.
3. I start ovulating in June/July. Not sure if I was Oing prior to that.
4. Now that I have been Oing (irregularly, but Oing) for a few cycles, my cramps are back to where they were pre-BCP.
So we think that maybe the BCP are finally out of my system. What do you all think? I am over the disappointment of the BFN and AF and now in the "thinking more postively about the next cycle" phase. My new line of thinking is "Hey - my body wasn't really ready to get pg yet. Now that I have gone through all of these things as a result of going off BCP and have the lovely cramps from the good 'ole days as a teenager, my body is finally ready to get pg." Convincing enough?;)
ETA: Ok...I just reread my post and I was really redundant. Sorry about that! :p

UTChick: I'm so surprised that your cycle ended with AF instead of a BFP. Things were looking so good. Ugh! I do think you and your salon buddy came up with a good theory on the BCPs, which I hope means that you'll have good luck next cycle!
bunnybeth: Be strong! Avoid those HPTs (unless you really really want to POAS.We'll understand)! ;)
gymwidow:Thanks for cheering for me! Hope that pesky doc gets back to you soon!
jbenny75: I don't think there are ANY absolutes when it comes to charting. My temp stays high days after AF appears. Its so confusing...but at least I know now to expect it. Welcome & good luck!
To everyone else, have a great weekend!!!!:D
I'm about to head out for the long weekend after having a CRAZY week at work. I was so so busy, which is probably good because it spared me from obsessing 24/7. Anyway, before I take off, I need to share my "symptoms:" AF cramps for the last three days that come and go; running nose to the point that everyone is asking me if I have a cold (I feel fine); and yellow CM that looks the color of those neon socks from the 1980s. Don't I sound the picture of beauty?

I wanted to apologize for not stopping in as much lately. I've been having some serious issues with a close friend and I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around it. I just haven't felt like posting all that much. With any luck I'll be back and better than ever in no time! I did want to also let you know that I O'ed!! (Earlier than I normally do.) We had perfect BD timing, too! Apparently I O'ed the day DH left for his business trip and we got in some morning BD, so with any luck I'll be getting my BFP before heading to Florida for my work training! Whee!! :D

Welcome to the crew jbenny and LDS Angel!!
CTS Punkin Being around males helps regulate one's cycle. It has to do with how a female's body responds to their pheramones. Makes sense.
MichelleReneeI appreciate your input, but with so little temp info how can you tell? I am always accepting of being completely and utterly wrong. But typically temps in the mid-low 97s are pre-ovulatory. Really low temps like that in your LP can be indicative of a low progesterone or hyperthyroidism (with this your pre-O temps would be really low too). I just wanted to mention that you might not have Oed just so you don't go crazy next week wondering what is happening.
gymwidowAnyone know if you can start Clomid later than CD5? [/quote] You can start clomid any ole time you want as long as you haven't Oed yet. You can start CD5 or CD105. The only thing is that you would ovulate from 7 to 10 days after your last pill. This 7 to 10 days is not written in stone though (I ovulated the day after my last pill once) just an approximation.

Thanks, Soulmate. All this info can be so confusing at first. I was just wondering what you knew that I didn't. I was never planning on "going crazy" this cycle though. As much as I wanted to be PG right away I was fully expecting not to be. Thanks for watchin out for me though.
Well, ladies, I am saying this for the first time, and I hope the last. I'm out this cycle. AF showed up today. Back to CD1. I am actually relieved, because I knew deep down we wouldn't get PG our first month and I was actually more anxious to get on to my next cycle so I could have a fully temped cycle and have more info about when I O and such. Although it would have been a nice surprise to be PG right away, I'm not devastated over it.
So, threadmistress, please move me to waiting to O.
Thanks for the support and info everyone! If Soulmate is right and I didn't O last month I really hope I do this month!
Good luck to everyone, and Congrats to bottleored.

Hi there --
Even though I dropped out lastmonth, I decided to poke my head in and see how things are going. October looks like a very fruitful month so far!!
Threadmistress -- I put this in last month's thread, but I think it got missed. Please remove me from the list -- I am still trying, and am now on Clomid, but was getting very discouraged and kind of envious of the success of others. I just feel like I need to do this on my own for awhile.
Once again, I hope this continues to be a positive and nurturing place for all of you. Happy Sticky thoughts to all!

Hi mystical! I was wondering where you were!
I'm either 13 or 11DPO with a slight temp rise this morning. For the fourth morning in a row, I've got dull AF-like cramps. It is nerve-wracking!
jbenny75
10-08-2005, 07:11 AM
CD27 and either 14DPO (if I o'd on CD 13) or 10DPO (if I had a delayed O on CD17). My temp is still up, it actually took a rise this morning to 98.9. Crossing my fingers.
Silentbunny, I know how you feel. One of my friends had a baby a couple of weeks ago, and I really should stop by to see her and the baby, but I am just dreading it and I really don't want to. She called me from the hospital to tell me she had the baby. She was holding him and I could hear him cooing in the background. Tears welled up in my eyes, I couldn't control them.
We also just got news that my trashy BIL's estranged druggy wife, who shacked up with a new guy just weeks after she kicked BIL out, is guess what, PG!! WTF??
DH also brought home photos of his nieces and nephews after a recent visit to his mom. He has three brothers and sister, and they all get PG just by thinking about it. Two brothers have 4 kids each, one brother has 2, and his sister has 3.
Not to mention Tom and Katie.
I'm trying so hard not to be envious, but it's SO hard.:(

Not much going on here. AF has left the building- and I'm just waiting to see if my body wants cooperate sans meds this month! No pressure though. I think I see all of these women getting pregnant and feel the need to be pregnant myself-- when really, I think I'll get pregnant when my body is ready (like Kathy said). MichelleRenee It looks like, by your temps, you probably did ovulate (congratulations!!). Your temps are very low though...I'd get your thyroid checked just to make sure.
jbenny It really makes you wonder why people who don't care for themselves very much (like doing drugs) can conceive so easily when it is so hard for us. DH keeps reminding me that we will appreciate our baby so much more once he/she comes so it all balances out.
amurphy Your chart looks absolutely amazing!
polkadot Thanks for the compliment *blushing* I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope you get to get outta here soon!
I was thinking of trying luna therapy my next cycle. I'm usually against all the alternative "get pregnant fast" schemes...but this one is simple and seems to work for some people. My problem is that I O on the later side and this is supposed to make you O more normally. Basically you sleep with a blindfold/night mask from CD1-13, on CD14 you either turn the dimmer on your alarm clock up (didn't know they had dimmers) or turn on a night light. You have the little extra light on until you O. Supposedly people who used to O in the CD20's have Oed around CD15-17 doing this almost immediately. The premise is that back before modern times women used to cycle with the phases of the moon and this simulates these moon phases. Now the challenge is if I can actually sleep with a friggin thing over my eyes all night.

I had my thyroid checked about a year ago and it was fine. Should I have it checked again? I am thinking of going to my regular doctor just to let her know we are TTC and to see if she has any specific advice for me. I am on a medication that I already know I can take while pregnant, but I still feel like I should see my doctor. I'm sure she'll let me know if I should get my thyroid checked. Thanks!
I have (another) FF question. I entered yesterday as "light menses." That put me on CD1 for yesterday. Today I got some advice that made it clear that yesterday was actually "spotting," and not "light menses." I switched yesterday to "spotting" and entered today as "medium menses." When I did that it put me on CD31 today instead of CD1 today. So I am just confused. If I entered today as my first day of AF why didn't it start a new cycle?
TIA!
***Never mind. I just went in and added my cramps for today and it put me on CD1.***:)

amurphy don't shoot the messenger, but I think it's possible that even with your +OPK you O'ed three days after FF says you did, putting you only at 11dpo. Of course, eithe way your temps are looking waaayyyy purty. I really hope this month is it for you!
MichelleRenee I would get your thyroid tested again. Apparently there are some doctors that consider anything below (I think) one number hypothyroidism, while others use a totally different number. I would do a bit of research, get it tested again, and if the doc tells you that your numbers are fine I would ask specifically what your numbers are. Once DH's insurance kicks in I am getting mine tested as I have low waking temperatures and excessive amounts of EWCM, both of which can be signs of hypothyroidism.
gymwidow thanks. She's fine, I'm not sure I can say the same for our friendship. :(
Just chart stalking here. My temps aren't looking nearly as pretty as they did last month. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, of couse, I'm only 5dpo so I've still got roughly another 10 days to get obsessive.

gator: Thanks for lovin' my chart. I'll love it too if it ends with a BFP! Enjoy the BD festival. :D
gymwidowB]: Not only does AF arrives uninvited, but she outstayed her welcome! Geez!
[B]jnshanna: Sorry about AF.
jbenny: We don't think you are a bitter wench for feeling a bit jealous. We've all had to deal with the ugly feelings that sometimes arise when we hear of another person's pregnancy. No worries.
ptcrn: Looks like we are in this together! Good luck!!!
soulmate: Thanks so much for your words of encouragement. You've made me smile.
Despite all the positivity, I'm feeling a bit worried that AF may arrive soon. My temp is up today, but I woke up an hour later than usual so I can take much solace in that high temp. Plus, I'm still cramping on-and-off. I had lightly brown/pink tinged CM internally last night--one time. But now that I changed my chart to FAM, I'm told I have signs of implantation b/c of the spotting. I'm praying I get through this day with no AF.

MichelleRenee and Mystikal They changed the normal range for thyroid to .5 to 3.0. I think the old ones were something up to 5.0. Way too many doctors still use the older, wider range and many women are told they are normal when they are not.
polkadot Our men put up with a lot with us huh? You should see the crap I have/am trying. My DH must be a saint.
jbenny75 Yup! We completely understand. No judgement or thoughts of bitter wenchedness here :D
jnshanna So sorry about AF :( You sound very optimistic and I hope this is the last AF for you for quite a long time :D
gymwidow Double check with your dr. You *can* use it at any point but your doctor may have different thoughts. I know using it CD3-7 does different things to your body than CD5-10 so he may not want you to use it later. I think taking it earlier creates more eggs while later creates bigger eggs (or vice versa). Either way he/she may not want you to take it later in your cycle because it may not do what he/she wants it to do. KWIM?
amurphy Keeping everything crossed for you that AF doesn't show up. I know I'm going crazy for you...I can only imagine what you are going through.

I had my 10 year HS reunion this weekend and I did get asked a lot about if I had kids yet, etc., but it didn't bother me the way I thought it would. I just said, "We're working on it," and that was that. The one good thing about AF showing was that my DH was the designated driver and I got to party with all my old friends. It was a LOT of fun. I POAS tonite just for fun and to try out my new dollar store HPT ($1-OMG, I came home with like 10 of them). I got some funny looks when I was checking out. Got a BFN. hello everyone!
seems like we need an update from amurphy pretty quick! your chart is looking great!
as for me. . I am having a very strange 2WW. I'm 10 DPO, my temps have been a little odd, higher than normal but with a big drop today. the oddest part though is that I have zero FPS. no tender BB, no cramping. . nothing. and I am usually very sore and very crampy during the entire 2WW. I hope that's not a sign of a long cycle. . I can't take it. maybe my O date was wrong? any chart stalkers with opinions are welcome to comment.
TIA everyone. I guess right now, I'm at testing around the 16th - 19th.

I am not going to use opk's, and I'm not going to test until the day AF is due or afterwards..... I've been getting up at 3:45 everyday during this cycle and will continue to do so. I am hellbent on having a chart that is 100%. I will not go through what I went through last month wondering what day I o'd.
Good Luck to all those who are testing!!

The green eyed moonster came out today. I went shopping with my 7 month PG sister. She complained about nothing fitting over her belly and I wished it were me with the big belly. Then I talked to 8 1/2 week PG FSIL and she was telling me about the ultrasound she had today. I felt a little jealous, but I am OK. She wants us to be pregnant together so I hope it happens soon. It would be fun to have a pg buddy, even a couple months apart.
CD3 here. AF has already pretty much stopped. Before the pill she was 9-10 days long. On the pill she was 5 days. Today is day 4, so I am feeling very optimistic about how long she'll stick around for.
Dotsie, I know what you mean about wanting a chart that is 100%. I just started charting, but it sucked last month not knowing for sure when I O'd.

Michelle- i jsut checked out your chart...i noticed that you are taking your temp while AF is here...i read soemwhere (CC or FF) that you shouldnt do that b/c it can effect when FF gives you an O date. I dont temp until AF leaves and i (& FF) have always been pretty close with predicitng O.Its completley up to you...but thought i would drop that off:p
I here you about the green eyed monster....i had an episode at my nieces b-day party...i guess we all have our days;)

I hear ya, girls. Today I had a dr's appt. He told me things are looking good for me, but to give it a week to see if I get my period, then get a PG test and test. Are you freakin' kiddin' me? Does he really think a woman TTC doesn't have like a six month supply of tests? And wait a week? Yeah, right! No self control here, either.

CD13 with a temp jump today. So hoping it's not O b/c CM has not been as good this month (I've been bad about my water intake).
Michelle- hoping that you get that BFP soon!
I, too, can't stand it when I don't have a complete chart. I took a few months off here and there when I wasn't feeling well and then I regretted not having the information.

polkadot I always used to temp during AF just so I wouldn't get out of practice and it never effected when FF called an O...

Nothing new to report here... my CM is as confusing as ever. Had EWCM this afternoon and then just sticky tonight... don't know what's going on. Ovusoft had on their thing today the message about how I could be pg and if my temp dips below my coverline I should call the dr immediately... hmmm with the exception of a couple days my temp has been at or below the coverline for the past 2 weeks! LOL! I'm sure I haven't O'd yet.

Well I overrode Ovusoft's calculation of an O date on Sept 22 to not having O'd yet... FF hasn't called an O yet either. I was hoping when I saw EWCM yesterday afternoon that maybe I was gearing up, but it went back to sticky by evening. Darn it! Today is DH's bday and that would have been nice to potentially concieve then but I don't think it's gonna happen this cycle. Oh well.

Thank you so much, everyone....not just for your congratulations and good wishes but for all the support, encouragement, laughs, and shoulders to cry on during these last few months. I really don't know how I would have held on to my sanity without you all!\
I talked to the doc this morning and scheduled my first two appointments. I asked if they needed me to come in for a test to confirm and they said, "Nope. The HPT is enough. We'd just give you the same test here! So congratulations!" They gave me an EDD of 6/15/06 but I'm sticking with FF's EDD of 6/21/06.
The slightly scary thing is that I'm feeling a bit like crap this morning. Lots of burping, achy stomach, quesy. Oh well. I waited a long time for this so I'm not going to complain.

Welcome, Gardenia!
amurphy, feeling sick during your first trimester is NOT scary but expected...so get used to it! :p
abirney, that is one tough chart. I'm guessing you had an obvious delayed-O around CD19. It's possible you O'd on CD27; the delayed O could very well have messed up your body temp a bit, and the EWCM could be from a normal, slight estrogen surge mid-LP (also demonstrated by the temp dip), or it could be from an estrogen rise following implantation. Or that could have been another delayed-O & your body is getting ready to try again today. I do think, however, that OS has been off on calling your O because indistinct temp shifts. Not a biggie, but something to think about when using it as a predictor.
Wrighty, good luck at the Drs!
babylove, Congrats to your friend! I hope you didn't choke on the pill. :p
bunnybeth, everything's crossed!
Still just taking it easy. It's hard when you know your body so well, because I can't help but look for signs; I know I've already O'd. But it's nice not thinking about it so much, and definitely less stressful. I've had plenty of other things in my life to keep my anxietly level on high. :)

Question: For anyone on Clomid....is it a bad sign to have a short AF on Clomid? Last cycle, I was on clomid and progesterone and AF was only 4 days. I kind of thought it would be heavier/longer than it was b/c I was on prog supps for 16 days or something (loooong LP). It wasn't "light" but I guess I expected it to be different. Just wondering what you have experienced.
I'm on Clomid and my Af has always been short? notsure why about3-4 day's not sure if the clomid hurts or helps?

I haven't had the extra time to create a new thread today, but I'll make it tonight!
Still no O... bleh. Both DH and I have been feeling a lot of pressure because of all the false O signs I've had. So, we're basically taking the rest of the cycle off and having fun. :) I'm gonna keep temping but I'm not gonna even think about covering bases anymore. Hopefully we'll get lucky, but if not we'll start over when my new cycle starts.
Also, I have an appt. with my gyn on November 18th. That was the earliest they could get me in. If I'm not pg by then, hopefully we can get started on whatever he feels necessary, if anything.

Big ol crappy Doc appt today...
Basically, as far as he can see-- there is really nothing wrong with me except that I'm not responding to the drugs as I should-- and I'm not ovulating correctly. So, he said he was going to refer me to an RE. First he wants me to do a HSG- which isn't fun, but the really crappy part is that it's not covered by my insurance and it costs $500-550 to get done. So, basically we have to decide how much we want to spend, especially if the x-ray comes back saying that my tubes are blocked.
The RE isn't covered either... so it's not looking up for at the moment. I told the nurse who was going to schedule the HSG I needed a month or two to make this decision. Even if my tubes aren't blocked-- what can I do at this point??? I'm kinda beyond frustration right now... I don't really know what I am. I mean - is this really happening to me??
katmg
10-11-2005, 12:55 PM
Wrighty - I'm so, so sorry. I wish I knew of something to say to make things better. Can you go see the RE without have the HSG done? A new doctor might want new/different tests. Some docs would repeat a test if it wasn't done by "his" people. I'd hate for you to spend mega bucks on a test and then not have it be the "right" one. **Hugs**

Michelle, I'm sorry; that sucks. :( I don't know much about infertility, so I can't give you any advice, just (((hugs))). Is there some way to get a discount on the procedure & RE? A regional urgent care center here offers a discount program for $18/mo, and they offer discounts on just about anything medical. I looked up RE's for the DFW area, and there are 10 within 20 miles from me that offer a discount of at least 10% (usually more like 30%).
Good luck & keep taking care of yourself.

10-11-2005, 03:34 PM
I'm feeling better now that earlier... I vented a little here and there and I've decided to not give up hope.
Katmg - Thanks for the comfort! I think the RE would need me to do a HSG before he could really determine what's going on with me--so either way it would have to be done-- and either way it's going to cost me :(
Klav - Basically my insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertility. So, I'm pretty sure a lap wouldn't be covered either.
Flygirl - You made me go look up my healthcare-- and while the HSG is definitely not covered-- I think the RE could be. I'm going to have to talk to someone about this!! Thanks for the idea :) (can you tell I am wallowing in self-pity at the moment??)
Thanks Dotsie, Jshanna, and Babylove! You girls really are the best :D
I never considered myself infertile--so it's odd to write that--but I guess that's my Dx.
I think that this the something we are going to do- but at this point I'm not ready to just jump right in.
I also want to note that I appreciate my Dr admitting that my fertility issues are out of his league. Not all OB/GYNs would do this. I'm happy that he didn't keep me on Clomid for 6 months or give Femara another try-- because what a waste of time (and money) that would have been!
I guess really I'm going to have to talk to Dan about pursuing this before I definitely say that I'm going to do the HSG this month. I haven't been able to talk to him about this specifically (although he knows that I'm definitely having a bad day!). It's not that we can't afford it right now-- but $550 dollars is a lot of money to shell out, especially if there is nothing wrong with me!!!
*Sigh*
*Picking up my positive attitude that I left at the door this morning*

Keep those BFPs coming, girls!
Wrighty- I'm so sorry about your appointment. It really stinks. Insurance wise, I know mine covers nothing infertility. It paid for my lap b/c it was billed as medical, not infertility (I had endometriosis symptoms out the wazoo including painful ovulation and periods). I agree with another poster that I might wait until after seeing an RE b/c they might select different tests. Good luck with your decisions. They are sucky decisions to have to make.
Welcome to Gardenia!
Lizard- hope you have a fun, stress free remainder of your cycle
So, I have to tell you all about my progesterone quest. My dr. perscribed progesterone suppositories for after O hoping to help us to maintain a pregnancy. Now, stupid me, has no idea about this stuff so I head over to the local CVS pharmacy.
The 60 yr. old pharmacist lady waits on me and I swear I feel like a 16 yr. old buying condoms. I don't know why. She knew they didn't have them but she yells across the pharmacy to ask another employee if "so and so pharmacy" has progesterone suppositories. She said it loudly probably 5 times. Now, I know it's really nothing to be embarrassed about but oh my goodness. She was very helpful and found a compounding pharmacy for me.. . but it was embarrassing.
My CM is non-existent so far. Hoping it kicks into high gear this week for O next weekend.

babyloveQuestion: For anyone on Clomid....is it a bad sign to have a short AF on Clomid? Last cycle, I was on clomid and progesterone and AF was only 4 days.Wow...4 days of AF is awesome! Mine isn't even 4 days *off* clomid. My last cycle on clomid I had AF for like a day, maybe day and a half, tops and my lining measured 9mm. I think they want anything over 7mm to be viable so 4 days of AF is really good.
CTs_Punkin Looking at your chart...do you think it is possible you have a cyst? I think that long of AF is worth calling the dr. over. I'm so sorry DH is feeling so bad.
Wrighty God, I'm so sorry your appt gave you no answers and such an expensive prognosis. Maybe DH could do a SA before the HSG just to rule that out before spending all that cash. Also the $500+ fee for the HSG might just be for the procedure they also tack on doctor fees onto that as well. Maybe that can be a last resort type of thing?
gator How embarrassing! I would think just having the word "suppositories" yelled across would make me just want to curl up and die.

Gator- that is a funny story and i agree with Soulmate that just the word supositories would make me turn red:o
i saw Soulmate mention how long AF should be....
QOTD:Is there a right amount of time AF should be?
Before going on the pill (in high school) i had horrible Af very heavy flow, feelign like my insides were falling out (sorry TMI) and it lasted anywhere from 5-7 days. Now after the 8 years on pills (stopped the oill in May 05)AF is only about 3-4 full days and just slight spotting for 2-3 days...i thought you would go back to what your periods were before the pills....
Soulmate- Inlighten me with your knowledge please!!!;)

polkadot--good question. I wonder the same. Previous to BCP, I had 5-7 days of heavy flow, now just 3 days, only 1 heavy. I had lots of spotting but hoping the lap took care of that.

Polkadot, I was going to ask this very same question. Before the pill I had 7-9 days of very heavy bleeding. On the pill I had 4 days of light bleeding and 1 of spotting. Since the pill I had 1 day of spotting, 1 of light-medium bleeding and now 2 more spotting. It will be over by tomorrow for sure. I went into TTC thinking I would have those horrible periods again until I was pregnant!

WOW!! Congrats amurphy!! I was thinking the other day that no one's chart looks that good for no reason. I am so happy for you!
Michelle~I'm sorry your Dr. appointment didn't go like you had hoped. But, I think it is a good thing that your doctor is proactive enough to refer you on to an RE because he isn't wasting time. Good luck with making your decision on when to proceed. We are here for you anytime!

Congrats amurphy!!!
I'm one of the unlucky people who can't CC at work. MAN, this is tough to keep up with when you are away for a few hours!!

Okay, I'm going nuts here. My doctor said he thought it looked good for me to be PG, but to wait until next week to test. He thought I O'd on CD13, it's now CD 31, 17 DPO.
I've been testing anyway and getting BFN's. But no AF or AF symptoms either. WTF??

jbenny - what brand test are you using?

I have dollar store tests right now. I had heard they were just as good as brand names....true or not true?
I just kinda thought I'd be able to tell by now.

I would go and get a brand name test. If you really think you are preggers even go for a digital. I used Clear Blue Easy Digital and Answer early preg tests.
Maybe you didn't O when he thinks you did.

jbenny- how frustrating! maybe try a different type of test?

I would try a different test and you may have O'd a few days later. I like Walmart Equates and CBE Digital. I haven't used the latest +- Walmart test, but I would hope they are just as sensitive.

Wrighty ~ Sorry for the bad news at your appointment. It is tough to get bad news. However, I have to say you are one amazing woman. Your enthusiasm for others always amazes me and I find myself shocked at how generous and gracious you are. I'm sure you will be blessed with a baby soon.
jbenny ~ I would also suggest another test. I got my BFPs on the Walmart Equate +/- tests. Good luck!

Maybe you didn't O when he thinks you did.
This is what I thought originally- O on Day 17. But when he said he thought it was CD13, well I was willing to believe that cause it meant I could find out sooner if the Clomid worked or not. Maybe this is the case. I'll also get a different test. I like the Walmart Equates, too. That's what I normally get. Thanks, guys.

jsut my 2 cents....i know exactly how you feel i went through the same thing last month....;)
if you did o when FF says you did...ROCK ON...your chart is looking awesome...i have known of 2 different people who told me that they never got a + HPt or a dr. off PT until 7 weeks:eek: yes i know 7 weeks....so there is hope
if you o'd on the later date...still looking really good and that would make you kinda early to test...soem people dont get +HPT's till past 12 or 13 DPO...
we are all pulling for you...i hope this is it....:D
ps: i am so proud of myself for being this positive....after last month:o

Light AFs I just want to say that I have a pretty light AF which is significantly lighter than pre-BCP or even on BCP. All doctors have dismissed its significance and lining measurements have confirmed that too. Also I got pregnant at least 2 out of 4 TTC cycles and them not sticking probably had nothing to do with my light AF (I suspect my antibodies caused them). Now searching under "light periods" and "symptoms" I found that...guess...take a wild guess...thyroid issues can cause light AFs too....hmmm...who would have guessed. Particularly Graves Disease, Hyperthyroid, and Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases. Here is the link (http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/light_periods.htm#list) since I am too tired to look into it more. Why in the heck do our thyroids have so much to do with TTC?! Also light AFs can be the result of lower estrogen levels. Just as a very important warning...do not read low estrogen = fix with natural remedies. I really messed up my cycles when I did that and I have almost all the signs of low estrogen.Sign and Symptoms of Low Estrogen Levels:
Rapid pulse rate
Bloating
Fatigue that worsens during the day
Constant fatigue, lethargy and fatigue on light exertion.
Short-term memory failure
Poor Memory
Hot flashes
Joint pain, swelling and stiffness
Decreased Sex Drive
Depression
Headaches
Osteoarthritis
Low Back Pain
Dry skin
Vaginal Dryness
Recent unexplained weight gain

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good evening.
I'll try to get caught up on my SO's... sorry if I miss anyone!
Good luck testing Bunnybeth and ptcrn!! Hope you get BFP's!
babylove hope you feel better soon! Good luck and the clomid and congrats to your friend!
wrighty sorry about the dr appt... hopefully you'll get something figured out with the insurance and get to the bottom of your issues!
jbenny your chart looks good! I bet you get a BFP in the next few days.
flygirl Thanks for the input on my chart!
As for the periods.. my last couple have been extremely light and short with several days of spotting beforehand. Previously they have been 4-5 days of normal flow. I've wondered if that might be an indicator of something wrong hormonally?

Quick fly by to ask for some help. After putting in today's temp, FF called O for CD12 (with dotted crosshairs). Can you guys look at my chart and give me your input, pretty please? b/c if that is correct, then I'm supposed to start the progesterone today. .. but I'm not fully convinced b/c of yesterday's lower temperature.
My CM has been pretty weak (but I haven't been drinking as much water). I have been having trouble with semen vs. EWCM interpretation so there are some days marked C that could be EWCM?? I don't know. Can you sense the panic/confusion in my voice?
I have not had all my typical O indicators other than a dull ache on each side. I have yet to learn my "new normal" since the lap. was supposed to take care of the pain.
ETA: put data into Ovusoft and it doesn't call O. Do you think FF is smoking crack again?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

gator I would be tempted to say that due to your low temp yesterday that that is when you O'ed. Unfortunately I couldn't be sure until I saw two more days of high temps. :( I'm sorry.
So I had a huge temp jump this morning on CD26/8dpo. Is it possible to have a week's worth of EWCM, then dry up and then O????? I hope not. I really hope that the dip I had was implantation and that this high temp halfway through my LP is a good sign. I really hope it stays up tomorrow. *sigh* Any input or anyone wanna obsess with me?
