I guess my question is, does anyone have the shopping disease that I have, lol? I seem to kind of go in spurts when I go on shopping sprees, but really, how many shoes, bags, clothes can a girl have? I only have about 35 or so pairs of shoes (counting flats, boots everything), and I find myself not being able to wear everything, but then I see something else and I need to have it because it's just SO cute! Does anyone feel my pain? ;) Please tell me about you and this sitaution and what do you do.

Um, yes. And thensome. I don't have any good advice, though, since I'm still in the midst of my Fall shopping frenzy!

I shop a lot. My deal with myself is not to go into debt. If I don't have the money to buy it, then I don't buy it. Even if I really want it. Period.

I have a lot of shoes and I am trying to purge some of them (about 200 pairs). I have a good amount of purses, but definitely not as many as I do shoes! When I moved from my condo, I got rid of some of my stuff, including clothes. With my more expensive purchases, I tend to wear something once or twice and then not wear it again which is not wise. So I am trying to buy stuff that isn't so "trendy" that I can wear more than a few times. I don't know what it is. I just love shoes, clothes and purses. I like to shop. It gives me a happy feeling. I don't *need* to, I just enjoy it.

So I don't know that I have advice other than to enjoy it as long as it isn't hurting you financially. :)

I don't have any advice for you because i can't follow my own rules.
sometimes when i go shopping with friends i end up buying just to buy, so on those days, i don't bring my wallet.
I have tried to make a list of things that i really need, and so far this fall i am sticking to it. For example, i know i need a fabulous black evening gown. i will look around this fall, and see what i can find on sale that doesn't need too much done in alterations. i also want a camel wrap coat, suede boots in brown, gold strappy sandals to round out my metallic evening shoe collection, red d'orsay pumps for going out, and a black v neck dress for cocktails.
that is the list. i am going to stay away from anything trendy this year.
oh, and by the way there is a great little book...A guide to elegance: for every woman who wants to be well and properly dressed on all occasions by genevieve antoine dariaux...it's dated, but gives you a good idea of how little you really need to be well dressed. it follows the principle of spend more money on a few classic pieces rather than on many inexpensive pieces.

The trick is to not go shopping. When I shop, I tend to buy A LOT. Like, I've got a black Versace dress that's been sitting in my closet for 2 years (maybe more), never worn (even though it's just a little black dress... pretty classic), bought simply bc it was *only* $125.

That said, I've probably got 200 pairs of shoes... not as many bags but I am working on that ;). Ideally I would never be stuck in a situation where I have to go out and get something to where to a surprise event. That requires owning a fair amount of stuff IMO.

Right now, my "stuff to buy list" for this fall/winter includes a pair of chocolate brown boots (maybe two pairs as I want knee-length and ankle-length) bc I don't actually own any chocolate brown winter shoes at all, a black knee-length pencil skirt in either jersey or knit (really basic to wear to the office), and maybe a brown or black velvet blazer (or a suit depending on the price). I also need a plain white, fitted, button down shirt for the office as the one I had has turned yellow in the wash somehow. I've been trying to focus on high quailty, not quantity, basic/classic stuff that will last a long time.
