Hi there! I am getting married August 27 this year :) Just wondering if anyone wants to start a group thread, hopefully we can give each other help,opinions,suggestions and support:D

We are having an 6pm outdoor ceremony and indoor reception...........hopefully the rain will stay away.....................:D

Can I ask why you decided to have the ceremony and reception on different dates? Has it been harder to plan b/c of that?

Hey Tamara,

We originally were getting married 5/28/05, but then my FH freaked out because he didn't think we had enough time (got engaged 11/28/04), so we pushed it back to August. We were originally going to have our wedding & reception 5/28/05 and then honeymoon in August. So, we pushed the wedding back to August, before invites were sent, and because the honeymoon was not able to be moved, we worked around it. Plus, we thought it would be way more relaxing to have a reception after the stress of the wedding was over.

All in all, I haven't been very stressed out in planning. The hotel we're holding the reception at did most of the planning work, my mom has been stellar in her role (my MOH lives in CA and the wedding/reception is in PA, so she hasn't been able to participate as much), and God has really blessed us!

I sit back and thank my lucky stars that my FH wanted to push back the date. It's been less stress since I'm working FT and going to night college FT...

I am def getting stir crazy with the final planning details, but I have no time for it, we are moving tomorrow and I have been going thru so much stress trying to figure all that out, I am welcoming just planning the wedding again soon! Thankfully you did get to push back the date a bit...isnt it hard ot try and plan everything and work FT?!? And I thought I woiuld like to plan weddings, YAH RIGHT! LOL! It is going to be SO NICE to come back and still get to celebrate with everyone! I cant wait to hear how it all goes!
It is also WONDERFUL you have such a great mom to help you plan, we all dont have that, so it is SO NICE to see when mom's want to take such a huge role in their daughters wedding!

Hi everyone! July 30th bride here!

Pyzia, we are date twins! I am getting SO stressed out about everything, it's just coming too soon, you know? I'm getting to the point where I'm just avoiding all the "little details" that I really need to take care of, hoping maybe they'll go away!

What do you have left to do? It seems like I have tons of stuff still left, but I know it'll all come together.

I know its hard not to worry about the rain, but I just figure, whatever happens is meant to happen. Someone told me recently that "a wet knot is a sticky knot". I don't know if its true, but it makes me feel better!

I'm excited to have this thread to post in. I was mostly a lurker over on the WC, but I will try to post more here!

I actually moved this weekend.Dell and I are SUPER excited! It has a brand new 8 man hottub (or spa they call it:p) which we have been in every night since we moved in!!! Also all brand new appliances and a gas fireplace! It ROCKS! We are living out of boxes right now...and I cant find my steel toe boots for work...but ah, what does a secretary need steal toes for anyhow...right?LOL!

Well, I am Pretty well as excited as I can be I think! LOL! I woke up on Canada Day and I said to Dell "Happy Canada Day and WE'RE GETTING MARRIED NEXT MONTH!" LMAO!
But yes, anxious def is the word for me too! I just cant believe I have already had my 1st dress fitting and my hair and makeup trial only 2 weeks away!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was actually just printing out a bunch of Detail shots......my GF is going to take some pics for us and I REALLY want her to focus on details, I want to make a "collage" wall of pic frames with only detail shots! I think it will look really neat!
We havent actually booked our honeymoon and we wont until the Monday after our wedding! :eek: We spent WAY TOO MUCH on the wedding and are using our liquor money to book! We dont care where we go we just want to be together, right now it is somewhere in Mexico tho:D

We just booked our honeymoon last week.

7 days at the El Dorado Seaside Suites (http://cancun-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150807-d256414-Reviews-El_Dorado_Seaside_Suites-Cancun_Yucatan_Peninsula.html) resort in Cancun, Mexico. And then when we come back, we'll hop in the car and spend a week driving up to the Okanagan (interior of B.C.) and doing wine tours etc.

I'm so excited! It's a perfect mix of exotic-relaxing, and familiar-exploring :D

I know what you mean Tamara. I am so ready to *be* on my honeymoon. I did find what appears to be a GREAT deal on lodgings and emailed the info to FH's cousin who is sorta our travel agent. It is a restored eighteenth century "gate house" and another is a restored lighthouse keeper's home, both in the area we want to stay and both great prices. One is less than 300 American dollars and the other around 400. They are priced in Euros but I converted. I think it is just to rent the building but b/c so much over there is priced "per person" we need to make sure first. I haven't heard back from FH's cousin yet though. That would save us money to use for something else and we would be more isolated. The gate house is the cheaper and by the pic looks adorable. (Think back to a time when people had to pass the "toll" gate) There are two rooms (living and bedroom) with an "octogon garden room" in the middle and they added kitchen/bathroom facilities to the rear (since they weren't part of original structure they had to add on). The lighthouse keeper's place overlooks the ocean so of course that would be beautiful. :)

WOW, am I ever. I cant believe I only have 1 month and 15 days to go...you should see my planning list, it seems to keep getting bigger and bigger, and I am starting to freak:p LOL!

I FINALLY booked our hotel room for the wedding night...I cant believe the pricing on some of the rooms I researched, UNREAL that they can get away with that! And hotel taxes?!?!? What the heck is that for?!?!? Oh well, we are in! We actually booked the same honeymoon suite that we stayed in the night Dell proposed.....it also holds more meaning for us....Dell lived in a different town than I did when we first met, so he came down and booked a room at the place we are staying. It just reminds us so much of when we first started dating...I cant believe it has been over 7 years!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotels are the biggest rip off. We want to go to Atlantic City for the last night of our honeymoon, and it would be like $350+!!! for a basic hotel room! We do not feel like driving the 2 1/2 hour drive home after spending the day at the beach...so maybe we will not be going there...

Hello ladies!! Jen ~ Hey you! Welcome!! Tamara I, too, have a VERY LONG and exhausting to do list. I, too, slacked and now I have to pay for it!! Eeeeek!! :eek: Right now my major focus in invitations. And this coming Sunday is our two months to go mark (are you hearing this Sarah? Ugh!) so of course it is "the" invitations mailing deadline which I am not sure if I am going to make. I am still waiting on supplies. They are due to come in sometime during the week. I will have them printed at an office supplies store and see if they can cut them too, so that should save some time. Then I have to start putting them together. There is still one font I am looking for that I want to use to address the envelopes, then printing the envelopes will probably be the biggest pain... one by one... about 250 envelopes... I had info on an embosser and am afraid I've lost it and afraid how long it takes to order and rec'v one. Ugh, again! :confused: My maid of honor is planning my very large bridal shower which will be July 30. YAY! *So* excited about that. I'll have a church shower Aug 11 and FH's family will throw me one sometime for his family and their friends. After the invites I will be down to DETAILS! I bought my toss garter last night. It is very cute and cost a whopping $1.80. it was $3 and I had a 40% off coupon from JoAnn's. Yay. Another thing marked off the list!! My maid of honor bought me a cute "bag" (for lack of a better word) for the money dance and I bought an embellishment for it last night. Well, I guess I better get off here and get some work done... GOOD idea to get the paper cut at the store that is prionting them for you...just make sure they dont charge you TOO MUCH! Plus, MAKE SURE THEY KNOW EXACTLY THE SIZE YOU WANT. I cant remember who it was, but an old WCer........the place totally messed up with the cutting and she had to start ALL OVER AGIAN>.............Just make sure, K? I would hate for this to turn ugly on you.....

Christy hey!!!! Actually we have 2 Months and 4 Days today....or 66 days...whichever sounds better to you ;) I cant wait to hit the 2 month mark. That means in 1 short month we will be down to weeks. Dont stress girl!!! When did you make your RSVP date for your invites? I made mine August 27th, so I am not sending the invites until August 1st or so. That gives me a couple extra weeks to address, stamp and stuff. I hope your invitations go very smoothly ;) If I lived closer I would offer to help ya! Do you have someone to help you stuff, etc? If you get an assembly line going it goes so fast! If you are print 250 envelopes you are doing good. I had wrote 50 so far and I have about 100 more to do. Im so happy I started early so that I am not freakin out about it. My shower is actually this next weekend (23rd) and I am super excited for it even though more planning needs done. I believe I am only having 1 shower, which is fine by me. ;)

WHen Dell and I had been together for about 3 months I wrote him this little love letter on a sticky note (:p I know, I know......we were young and liquor pigs then.....) and he kept it all this time...well until I washed his wallet by accident.....now you can sorta read everything but it just isnt the same...I was going to re-create it somehow, but dont know if this is cheesy....just thought I would ask where everyone else is going gift wise, or if you are just buying a card?!?!?
I don't have much money, so frugal for me is important:p

I think I am going to make Alan a card and then a small scrapbook with pictures of him and his grandpa with quotes, like mini scrapbook pages. I was going to do a scrapbook with stories, etc from family, but I think he will like this better since its simpler and all of him and grandpa.

I think a card would work and also recreating that little note. It sounds so sweet.

I told Alan not to buy me anything because Id rather spend the money on our honeymoon to do something memorable. I am wishing and hoping that he does get me a card some I have something from our day.

Thats okay, Dell still hasnt gone yet either............he has them picked, just no fitting yet. We seem to have a prob tho. WHen we first went in, they couldnt find our names......so then they figured out they typed in our wedding date as AUg 27,2004.......so they re-input us.....
SO then we pick everythin gout, Dell in a diff tux as the rest, well when our Usher went to get fitted, they told him it was for Dells tux?!?!?!? SO I have no clue what is going on and not sure if I have much faith in them any more either......................ugh.

Yeah, Tamara, we had the darnest time with finding a quality place. All of the "name brand" stores like After Hours etc. wanted like $175+ for a complete tux?? That's ridiculous! And due to the fact that our reception/wedding are on different days, it would have been astronaumical!

So we went to the local tuxedo place, family owned, and they are giving us the accessories, two shirts, two vests, shoes, etc. for two weeks total rental for $125. And that's the best tux they have! Can't beat that...very classy. I wish I had a picture. My FH insisted that I go with him. They are wearing pink vests with pink hankerchief in the pocket -- and boy, did we get backlash from his relatives for choosing pink! I said, "Well, you're not the one wearing it, so why do you care??" It's not like the whole tux is pink :) And believe it or not, they had to call somewhere to make sure there would be enough pink vests for two weeks -- ha ha! If it was such a horrible choice, then many others are making the same horrible choice :) . I can't wait until the honeymoon when we can relax :)

MORNING LADIES!!! Wow, where've I been?? Not in forums that's for sure! My WC journal is looking sadly neglected this past week too, so I've got to bounce over there, do updates/recaps and check it out. Tamara I still need to check out your journal here... guessing that is where all your chit chat is, haha!! :D

I found a great "tool" that I want to share with y'all in case it might be helpful to any of you too. Yahoo offers a "calendar" as one of their services... (you need a yahoo account). The way I set mine up was that I had each of my bridesmaids register @ Yahoo if they weren't already (except one who isn't online) and I added their names to the of friends who could view the calendar. You can choose who can view it and who can edit it. I gave both priveledges to all my girls though my MOH is really the only other one who edits it. I started using it by putting in important dates, then used their task manager... a list of need to do tasks appear on the side bar (you give each a priority 1 to 5 and it catergorizes the 1s together, 2s together, etc). Once you put something on the calendar, you can easily change it or move it another day or time (or use the "all day evvent" option and it won't assign it a specific time of day). Last night I started going through my to do list and inputting them on the calendar, mostly all the first week of August when I am off work (if the items can wait that long!). This past week I've started writing in *DONE: xxxxxxx for whatever task I've completed. You can click on printable version and it prints nicely on 8"x11" but if you have a lot of entries on some days the column may carry over to the next page. I just printed a copy of July, August, and September for my BM who is not online and mailed it to her. Since I added a bunch of stuff last night, haha, I am going to print her another one Monday and mail that. I wanted to do BM newsletters, but everyone is pretty up to speed and I just haven't had time. Note of caution though, the notepad that looks like it comes with the calendar doesn't have sharing features. Only you see the notepad, but it too is a great place to store info if you wanted to, and only you can view it.

I am so behind my desired schedule for invites and will miss my deadline of Sunday, which will be our two months to go. I opted to take invite, enclosure cards, and cover to a local print shop to run, score, cut, etc. I still need to take accom cards and maps/direction cards (yeah, need to finish those! ugh!). I was hoping I could pick up what I've already taken down, but she encountered problems (ugh, again!) and it will be Monday/Tuesday. I was able to pick up the embosser for the envelopes. Everywhere I found would take 2 weeks, but this place took 2 days and was atill around $30. This past week I received the cardstock, envelopes and ribbon. I think it looks like I will make about 275 invitations, while my list is wavering close to 250.

We made some of our honeymoon plans, reserving one of our two accom in Ireland and our flights. Still need to get 2nd reservation in Ireland, car rental in Ireland, hotel for 2 nights in NY and car rental in NY.

We are keeping our fingers crossed hoping we can close Friday on the house we are purchasing. This was a tentative date we were given earlier this week depending on how things progress. I am so excited!

On the tuxes front, no wonder After Hours can give away plane tickets charging those prices!! We opted to go to Mens Wearhouse and found ones we liked for 99. I didn't like that the RB tux was the same price, but that's just me... its smaller ya know? haha :p Dad is in white shirt, vest, tie; FH is in black vest & tie; and BM&GMs are in hunter vest & tie. I ca't remember what we put the RB in now. :confused: Oh well, I have a printed confirmation from their store that lists everything, like a receipt. Except by our Best Man's name they wrote not applicable or unknown where "best man" should be written. All the rest are fine, so it is just funny. We have a group number b/c they said it is too hard to pull up by name, being nationwide. They haven't gotten fitted either... FHis suppose to gather them up and make a group trip sometime soon, that should be interesting! dad hasn't gone by either, so I need to remind him too.

I plan to get FH a card and gift, nothing elaborate, but I have no idea what yet. Will think on that. Maybe I'll casually ask when he wants us to exchange our wedding gifts to each other... at the hotel? Maybe at dinner. Our reception will begin abt 3:30/4:00 and we have dinner reservations at the hotel we are staying that night (semi reservations, no time set yet, thinking maybe 8/9?) The dinner of course is just the two of us.

What is everybody's plans (wedding plans/goals or other plans) for this weekend and upcoming week? I plan to finish embossing envelopes today then work on addressing them via the printer (still looking for a font). I also have to do the cards that will act as the inner envelope but will be attached to the cover of the invite pocketfold. I hope to have all that done this weekend. I also need to make the accom and maps/direction cards this weekend and prepare them for the printer. This upcoming week is all about invites ~ as I get stuff back I will begin working with what I have. I need to purchase scrapbook mounting stickers and postcard stamps.

I need to order the monogram and crystals for the cake as well as the I DO letters. Ihave some stuff that I need to take to good will.... I don't have time for a yard sale and need to start getting ridof stuff I don't want/need before the big move is upon us. Plus we'll get a tax write off receipt, which I am sure we can use this year!!

Things are getting back on track for me. I still have quite a bit to get done, but I have a great wedding week coming up! Tomorrow is the 2 month mark and boy am I ready. We only have 9 weeks. Only 9 more Saturdays! Really crazy. Monday I have my 1st fitting with my dress and my BM and 1 of my mOH's has theirs as well. Tuesday I meet with my Photographer in the morning where I need to give her a tenative timeline, pictures and songs for the slideshow. Thursday I have a mani and pedi and make appts for the day before the wedding. Then Saturday is my shower!

I feel so uncertain about what needs to get done. I feel like I am forgetting something big. Its a weird feeling and I really hope it passes ;)

Just wanted to post quickly too, today we hit 40 days! YAY!

Dell was filling in at abar he used to work at on Sat night, and he left pretty early, so he tells me that he went to the park we are getting married at to scope the place out for pic opportunities and also to try and figure out how to set the cermeony up! AWE!
So yesterday we went to the park and FIGURED EVERYTHING OUT!!!!!!!!! Ah it feels SO GOOD to have that done:D YAY!

We are phoning the officiant tonight to go over the ceremony and readings! And other than that, this week is dedicated to calling guests who havent RSVP'd yet! WOW, I just cant believe it has come to that time already:D

BethElena~Well, YES, if I have to say it at all:p I was Very Disappointed.....BUT, My cousin was the first to say no, he is a best man in a wedding, then my Uncle said no for 6 people, now they changed everything around, so it will be 4 yes and 2 no................That is it for the family. I just thought all of my family would be there, KWIM? And in fact a few of my close friends are more no's......................:( What can I do tho right? I had my shower on Saturday and it was an amazing time! I got a ton of neat gifts and had fun celebrating. It really did finally sink in that I am bride! I finished my invitations last night and they are in the mail this morning. Other than that, I now have small tasks to begin working on.

Just 38 days for me! I cant believe how time is flying by. All I have left to do is a bunch of little things. The main focus right now is that today is my refitting for my dress. Its a start over fitting because I wasnt happy after my 1st one. Then tomorrow I am taking all the pictures for the slideshow plus 1/2 the balance to the photographer. Tonight will be spent organizing the pictures and making sure everything is in order.

I have been ticking things off of my to do list pretty steady now!
We called the caterer and gave a final count, we are paying for 120, and about 118 will be there:D YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I am just so excited we are at that point!
We are only paying $7 a head for midnight lunch, which is great, AND she is supplying the napkins And the cutlery! YAY!
We also booked the PA system yesterday, which is a huge weight lifted. It comes with the mics we need for our outdoor ceremony too!

And I am at 72 chocolates made, 75 cardboard cutouts cut out, only 48 chocs to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight my over 7 month pregnant MOH is coming over to re-try on her dress, we both think she isnt going to fit any longer, so we may be returning the dress! A friend has the exact dress in a 14, so we are hoping that one will fit!

AND LASTLY my final dress fitting is on SATURDAY!!!!! I am a little worried b/c I have gained 3 pounds I think since my 1st fitting, hoping I can take my baby home without getting more alterations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am freaking out, for many reasons, and I am almost in tears today. Not b/c of WR stuff, other stuff, and I just cant handle being here at work today. Paypal is ticking me off and they keep trying to deduct something from my account that was denied, so why they are deducting, I dont know, and I am getting NSF fee after NSF fee. I am going to start losing it right away here and I just dont know what to do......paypal didnt help at all, the guy was a complete retard......now I am just lef tup to calling my bank to see if they can stop any payments from paypal and I will just have to close my account and tell them where they can stick this 20cents. 20 CENTS and the seller rejected the payment and just deducted it from my total amount owing..............ah man, I am going to die.

Tamara : We had to reprint the invites because after I thought I proofread them and after my mom thought she proofread them we found it said "son of Mr. and Mr. A... L..." How stupid was that. I just wanted to take a red pen and write the S in but mom wouldn't let me. Ha Ha Ha
It actually didn't take long at all and now they have all come out and are great. Ready to assemble and address next week. This week I'm finishing cutting out my favors.

I have to get a move on things. Mom told me her goal for us is to have eveything done by the end of Aug. (invites done, and addressed, favors cut out and assembled most of the way, pew decorations, vases for the head table at the reception, and the FG pommander.) That's everything but the programs. She said if we can get all of that stuff done by the end of Aug then that gives us all of Sept to work on programs and finish assembling the favors (adding mints...I'm going cheap on favors.) If this works then that means everything (DIY wise) will be done by October and I'll have almost a month to relax. Who am I kidding? Is this a goal that could really be acheived? My end should be ok, but my mom is kind of a procrastinator and then stresses out at the last minute...something I definately don't want her to do. All in all I'm feeling good about the whole thing. Not really stressed at all. I was a little peaved about the invites, but that's my own fault!

i'll chime in! we're approaching our first anniversary on oct. 15. its SO hard to believe it's been a year. time has flown!
i often think back about "what was i doing a year ago today at this time"....hmmm...i miss the planning process...but i also wouldn't wanna do it all over again! ha
