anyone know what might be causing my sewing machine to malfunction, if i describe the problem?

it was working fine before. i followed a user's manual instructions on how to thread the bobbin and needle. i sewed most of a pillow before it started refusing to work anymore. i sewed for about an hour before i had a problem.

the needle and bobbin are still threaded correctly, the same way they were when i was sewing my pillow. however, now when i press the accelerator with my foot, the needle no longer yanks the bobbin thread up through the hole in the steel plate. i think that is my main problem, i can't get that loop on the needle to reappear - so when i try to sew now, nothing happens. just a bunch of needle size holes in my material.

i tried to re-thread the machine from scratch, both needle and bobbin, according to the same instructions i used before. as far as i can see, i have done it correctly, the same as before. but the bobbin thread will not take and form a loop anymore.

help, please? is my sewing machine broken now?

TIA,

Heather

Did you check to make sure there's not any strings catching the bobbin case? I know my machine sometimes get's a stray thread here and there. I'd try just re-plugging/turning on, cleaning out the bobbin area if you can get to it! ;) Good Luck - I know Sewing machine troubles are SO Frusterating!

For some reason, my sewing machine totally flips out if I use a metal bobbin instead of a plastic bobbin. Maybe it's something as "little" as that?

What kind of machine do you have and how old is it?
