Hi ladies,

I just rented this movie on On Demand because I really like Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney. Is it just me, or was this movie totally unrealistic? I mean, they fall in love with each other, and she knows nothing about him. Plus, you never know how much of his sweet talk is true and how much is "the business". Know what I mean? I know you're supposed to believe that it's all true and he loves her and all that, but then there was the scene where he was talking with her father and ate the anchovies even though he told her that he was allergic.

I don't know, maybe I'm in a cynical mood or something, but I thought this movie just totally missed the mark. It was kind of like Pretty Woman but without any relationship development. Though I guess if there was relationship development, it would have been Pretty Man, huh?

Anyone else agree or disagree?

Sure it was unrealistic, it's a movie! I thought it was pretty cute.

I saw it in the theatre, and I was charmed. Maybe because I'm a big fan of the leads, but either way I thought it was a cute light movie. :)

I agree. I enjoyed the movie, I thought it was cute. After renting the movie, I bought it so I could look at Dermot again, he is so hot. Well, at least I think so.:D

I liked the book this movie was based on (Asking for Trouble--I think the author is Elizabeth Young. She has a few cute stories, in the chicklit genre), so I rented it. I thought it was about as awful a movie as I had ever seen, but Dermot Mulrooney was still cute ;).

I agree that it was very cute and lighthearted. Maybe unrealistic was a poor choice of words. I just thought that everything was SO neat and tidy, she meets him, they fall in love, she forgives her sister. It was like they only had an hour and 20 minutes and they had to make the movie without delving into anything too much and wrapping everything up really fast. I just thought it was strange. I do agree that Durmot was quite hot in the movie--which is funny, since I totally didn't think that when he was in My Best Friend's Wedding--I liked Rupert Everett better, so maybe I just liked Durmot's character better in this movie--he was very, um...suave. :D

Yeah, it bugged me, too, that the relationship wasn't really developed and that they fell in love in such a short time without really even knowing each other. It wasn't very realistic, but I watched it on an airplane, so it definitely made the flight more enjoyable! Not my favorite B romance, but I've seen worse, too (such as the Wedding Planner.)

If you watch the extras on the DVD, it kind of explains a lot that they left out. They had a lot of material and ideas but very little time to put the whole story in and also DM said that they ran out of money for some of the story lines.

Don't you just hate it when the plot of a falling-in-love-with-a-male-prostitue movie turns out to be unrealistic?

I thought this movie was pretty lame actually. I love light hearted movies but I guess I didn't care for the main characters in the movie so it didn't matter to me if they "fell in love" or not. It was a cute idea that fell really short IMO,

Quick question...last night I watched, 'The Wedding Date'...well there is a quote that I am looking for from it. Nick says it while they are laying on the bed together...something about "missing you, even if we had never met" or something. Anyone know what that quote is?? Thanks so much, in advance :)

Is this it?

Kat Ellis: I've been spilling my guts all weekend and I don't know anything about you.
Nick Mercer: I'm allergic to fabric softener, and I majored in comparative literature at Brown. I hate anchovies and I think I'd miss you even if we'd never met.
