But I must admit I'm still obsessing about checking the Toilet Paper everytime I go to the bathroom.

this doesn't go away even at 9 weeks??? I am trying to force myself not to do this but every single time I have to pee. . and that's ALOT. . I have to check. good to know I'm not alone!!!

hey Lizard! I saw you guys started the July thread but only 2 of you so far! welcome to the June thread .. we have tons of mommies over here!

haven't had any emotional issues yet but DH is prepared!

first appointment tomorrow! ready to give blood, schedule the ultrasound and get the official confirmation!

Same thing here!

I check the toilet paper also. I sometimes find myself going to the bathroom just to check. :o

Bedding
This is the one we will more than likely be buying. It's from Target and it's called "Angel Baby"
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0006DONRC.16._AA384_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Temper I haven't been any worse than usual. ;) (And that can be pretty bad. :o)

Has anyone found themselves eating more than usual? I know I need to watch what I eat so that I don't gain too much weight too fast, but after my trip to Florida with work it seems that's all we freakin' did was eat!!! I feel like I gained five pounds (when in reality it was only 3...sigh). Now that I'm in the eating frame of mind I can't seem to stop! Gah!!!

OMG, me too!

I have been eating more than usual, but on purpose. I didn't eat very nutritiously AT ALL. I've started eating breakfast and trying to eat three square meals, but it is just Waaaay more than I'm used to eating and I just feel bloated and really full. My ravenous hunger is gone. No symptoms except for my boobs are still wierd and I'm really tired.

amurphy ~ Sorry you're feeling sick. I feel your pain. Hope the m/s goes away soon.

Emotions I'm definitely more emotional than usual, but I've always been a fairly sensitive person so no big shock there.

Nikos Mommy ~ Sorry for the scares for both you and Niko this weekend. How scary! Glad to hear you're both okay. I sure hope the m/s goes away for you. I'm taking Zofran and it's working okay but it could be better. I don't think we'll have any more kids after this. We'll wait until this kiddo is 1 or so and then DH will get a vasectomy. We just aren't the type to have several kids.

Ramona ~ I can't believe you cried over Ice, Ice Baby! Sounds like me last time - I cried watching Cops! :rolleyes:

Bunnybeth ~ I had to turn my heat off this morning too during my drive to work and it was only like 38 degrees. Plus, I had my seat warmers on and those definitely had to go. Hope you feel better soon.

excitedbride ~ I'm so happy that your numbers are looking good! You've got one sticky baby in there!

steviem ~ Glad I could help. Please try to relax about the lack of symptoms. I'm 7w1d today and the m/s just got bad in the last 4-5 days. My BBs haven't been very sore at all. I've read in several places that if you feel good be thankful but don't worry. You're not cramping or bleeding so all should be just fine. Yay for a u/s appointment!

ds ~ I like your idea for the bedding. Seriously, with DS's crib set - we've never even used the comforter - it just hangs on the wall.

Brownie ~ Congrats on 9 weeks! I haven't noticed any odors, but my best friend told me the other day she is having some issues (she's 18 weeks) and found out she had vaginitis. It doesn't affect the mom or the baby so it's not a huge deal. She said hers was metallic smelling.

Lizard ~ Hey! Glad your numbers came back good. Would you like to join us? Since you're due on 7/4 you very well could deliver in June. Please feel free to jump on board here too!

shouldaeloped ~ Good luck tomorrow!

Mystikal ~ Hey! Love the bedding - good for boy or girl even! I definitely eat more - especially in the evenings since that's when m/s is worst for me.

I had my nurse visit and bloodwork today. Everything went well. They took 4 vials of blood which sucked but the lady did a great job and I barely felt it. Not to mention I had to pee so bad I was concentrating on not peeing my pants. :rolleyes: :p I was told they will call tomorrow if my numbers don't look good. I confirmed I will have a u/s at my next appointment! YAY!

Bedding ~ I've done a lot of searching. I like several sets but I'll pick one for each to post here - and one gender neutral set.

excitedbride ~ It is Wendy Bellissimo. The vintage firetruck line. I *heart* it, but it's really pricey. Don't know if I actually want to pay that much.

I did forget to mention in my above post that there is a slight chance I could be a May mommy. My LMP was kind of August 28 but it was all old, brown blood so the nurse thinks it may be possible. Not very likely I'm guessing due to my symptoms but we'll find out next week.

I will have to look at the price next time I am there. It is very cute!

After making some very cheesy enchiladas for dinner tonight, I had to go get some nachos! Especially after hearing Dans Girl having to have them the other night! They were so good from Taco Bell! I even ordered extra cheese.:D

6 weeks 1 day

Kaeden's Mommy- Does that mean you would be a full month ahead of where you are now? I really like the fire truck set too!

Excitedbride- Did you just get morning sickness today? I haven't felt sick at all up until today. Just wondering since we are both 6w1d....Very good about the results!!!!

Mystikal-I like the bedding set you posted as well...it is nice since it could be for a boy or girl.

Lizard- Congrats!!! Of course you can join us too.

MrsBrownie-Sorry I haven't noticed anything either. I did read infections are more common when pg...I can't believe you are still checking the tp. I still check each time too....

steviem- I also haven't had any signs other then being tired..so I poa this weekend too.

Sorry I can't get through everyone but I want to go workout and watch Medium. I like watching that show a lot better when my husband is NOT traveling. The show is supposed to be set in Phoenix (where I live), so it seems I am always looking over my shoulder when I am watching it.

Flare-ups- I only notice it when I am traffic...but my schedule became later (meaning going for no traffic to some traffic) the same week I found out I am pregnant.

I am glad we have started looking at baby things! I am not into the bedding yet...but I have been spending a lot of time looking at strollers and carriers...Has anyone seen anything on the Baby Bjorn that is mesh? I haven't seen it in any stores, but did see it in a magazine. Since the baby will be born in June and in AZ, I thought that might be a good choice...but I don't know.

When do you plan on telling your boss that you are pregnant? I put in for a job, which will be a promotion under my existing manager. If I don't get the job, I don't have a problem telling him...but what happens if I do get the job? I feel a little weird saying thanks for the promotion, I'll be out for 3 months next summer....He is understanding, but I still feel weird about it.

Well if I don't work out now, I won't......

Kaeden's Mommy - I thought you charted. Your O date is more reliable than your LMP.

You all have a lot of beautiful bedding selected. I sometimes get so tempted to want to go out an buy a set, but I am going to try hard to stand my ground and avoid them

Okay. I have a new QOTD

What is your desired birthing method? Do you plan to take a birthing class? If so, have you decided what class? If this is not your first child, what classes did you take and do you plan to take any more?

It may be a little early to think about this but my mind was made up long before we conceieved. I want to have an unmedicated water birth. I have already contacted a Bradley Method instructor and if everything goes as planned, I'll be in her April course. Luckily, the ob that I have and the hospital he is affiliated with are water and natural birth friendly.

Ugh....My entire post just got eaten!:mad: I'll try again.

Kaeden's MommyI love the firetruck bedding. So cute. I love the little dalmation.

excitedbride I don't know what it is with the Mexican food. Before my BFP, I wanted hot,spicy food all the time. On Saturday night, I made a huge dish of chicken enchiladas. I couldn't get enough of them and they were gone by Sunday night. Also, reading about you and Dan'sgirl, makes me want to run out to Taco Bell right now!

Bedding:
Boy: I haven't found much at all that I like, except Happy Tails by PB Kids. Which is of course, discontinued and costs a fortune to get on Ebay.

Calla Lilly and excitedbride, 6 weeks was the m/s turn-on date for me too. Luckily it hasn't been too bad, but it is a bit of a drag.

amurphy, Kaeden's Mommy and Niko's Mommy, sorry you're all feeling so sick! Hopefully it will pass in a couple weeks.

Emotions I'm pretty emotional anyway and got even more so after my daughter was born. At this point it's hard to tell if I'm more emotional or not. My DH has been unbelievably good to me recently so I have no reason to flare up at him!

Am I eating more? Oh yeah! And I'm totally craving carbs and junk - bad, bad, bad. I did the South Beach Diet to lose weight after my daughter was born and I thought I'd totally changed my way of eating, but I guess not. I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 4 pounds already! We're having tofu stir-fry for dinner tonight. :D

Birth plan I had an unmedicated birth with my daughter and intend to do the same for this baby. I'm open to the idea of water birth and in fact I started pushing in the tub with my daughter, but frankly it was too slippery and uncomfortable in there for me. It was awesome for labor though! I don't think I will take any birthing classes. I didn't get much out of the one I took before and I just don't have time in my schedule now for it. Relax, breathe, whatever. ;) :p Really though, I read about 5012 books before I even took the class so I think that's why I didn't get much out of it.

bedding For DD, I just got a white eyelet bumper and cribskirt along with several solid colored sheets. I couldn't get into the whole coordinated sets thing. The nursery is really small and it seemed overwhelming to me. We'll use the same stuff for this baby. I'm spending my cash right now on decorating DD's new "big girl" room.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am having the worst time being productive at work! I start out wellin the morning, but after a while I get hungry which makes me queasy, then I get tired. I'm getting only about an hour of productive work in a day and that's really not good! I'm trying to preemptively eat so I don't get queasy, but sometimes I don't get it right.
But I must admit I'm still obsessing about checking the Toilet Paper everytime I go to the bathroom.
Me too! Me too! I haven't had any spotting, but I can't help but examine the TP like a forensic scientist or something. The worst is the TP in the bathrooms at work that is made from recycled paper or something--it has little specks in it sometimes that drive my eyes nuts! :rolleyes:
Am I eating more? Definitely. I ate pretty healthy before pregnancy because of WW, so I'm trying to stick to the same foods. But I'm eating more of those foods and can already feel my clothes getting more snug.
Birth plan: I haven't thought too much about my birth plan yet. I will likely stick with a traditional hospital birth especially since the hospital in my town has a new L&D wing.
bedding : I'm still on the hunt for gender-neutral bedding. There are some simple sets at PB that I like...but they might be too boring for a baby. Still up in the air on this one.
This morning is starting out a bit better than yesterday, although I'm feeling really quesy at this very moment. I ate saltines while I got ready for work, ate a banana on the drive in, and am now drinking decaf tea. I also bought citrus altoids last night and brought them with me to work. I hope some of these "remedies" help.
Edited to welcome Lizard to the thread! :D
Emotions-I am going nuts. I must have a REALLY high level of hormones because I am already super sick and I cry over everything. I think nothing is ever going to get better, etc. I was not one of those people that really ever got bad pms or anything so I never understood when people said their hormones are raging, etc. I sure as hell do now!!!
Sickness-Dr. prescribed 6 days of Zofran because he said it sounds like I have a virus or food poisoning on top of m/s, I hope so but I don't think I am that lucky. Today will be my first full day on them.
7 weeks and 2 days
Good morning ladies!!!
Eating more: Oh yes... I am w/ Jbenny .. I was eating terrible before so now I am trying to eat 3 meals or at least something for breakfast BIG lunch and snack for dinner... I have such a sensitive stomach that I have to watch what I eat or else belly ache.
Amurphy I want you to know you inspired me to go to the gym last night... :)... it was raining by me in NY and I wanted so bad to go home after work... But I said "NO"... so I went and I feel great!
Lizard I AM SO FREAKIN HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!
Birthing Well I think I will take the classes for lamaz (not sure how to spell that...:confused: )... and then I will go to the local hospital.... my mom is an RN in the labor and delivery wing of the hospital... (although she can be in the room w/ me... no way willl she want to "help"... conflict of interest.)
Baby Bedding I most definately have been checking things out (so glad I am not the only crazy one...:) )... since we are going to try not to find out I am going w/ a gender neutral set. I might do a sage green toile set (which of course I have no photos of... :(..) or anything color toile... and I am also a big fan of simple white/ivory.
I did see a crib I liked.. (DH has not seen it)... but I like old fashion so I was looking at a white, metal crib...
http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/Products.aspx?DeptID=327&CatID=8133&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=0b1a4ef&ProdSeq=7&Cat=cribs&Dep=Children%27s&PCat=furniture&PCatID=4242&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=36&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0
I am not a big fan of the bedding.. (but that is just me.... I just like the bed..:)
Pink Feel better.. that is awful!
Me and Today Well I am having a rough one.. the rain in NY is awful... I am so sleepy which makes me crabby.. and on top of that my eyes are super sensitive... and I am prone to eye flare-ups called Iritis...(many of you are like what the heck is that????? I was the same way... :) ).. basicly it is arthritis in your eye and your eye becomes red (like pink eye) and sensitive to light, which is very painful. My dilema is that I usually take steroid drops to elevate the pain... well as you all know we cannot take stuff like that.. so I have been taking Tylenol and I am waiting to hear from the dr. on what to do next. So aggrevating... I really think my hormones are what started the flare up this time... so strange.. .well thanks for letting me vent.. hopefull the day will go fast!
PS DH & I got the fortune cookies last night and they are so freaking cute... we are giving them to our parents this weekend.. so excitied!
I will be going with a hospital birth. We are thinking of taking a birthing class. Not sure yet though.
Bedding-I haven't really looked at bedding yet. I love some of the pics that are posted here. I liked the peter rabbitt set also. Where was that one found??
Eating-I'm def. eating more. I get hungry every couple of hours, even after eating a big meal. I'm loving bannanas at the moment, which I normally hate. I also am craving 'bad' foods like Papa John's pizza and french fries. *sigh*
My goodness, I haven't been in here for a while!
Dan’s*Girl – I laughed so hard when I read that you cried to Ice Ice Baby. Athough…I could see how that might happen! You’re feeling a bit emotional…the song brings you back…and then WHAM, you’re crying. I totally get it.
excitedbride – I’m glad to hear that your progesterone levels are good! You must feel relieved?
steviem – I know exactly what you mean. Besides my stomach being a little off this morning, (and a sudden increase in boob size) I’ve been feeling really normal, which gives me cause for concern. But I read somewhere that only about half of pregnant women experience m/s, so I’m trying to take my lack thereof as a good thing! Like you, I also took another test on Sunday just for confirmation…I’m sure both of us will feel better after our appointments next Wednesday.
Mrs. Brownie – OMG, I still check the TP after I go to the bathroom too! Although, I’m not as far along as you are, but it’s comforting to know that others are feeling the same way. So glad I joined this thread!
Lizard – Welcome!
shouldaeloped – can’t wait to hear how your appointment went today!
Calla Lilly – As for when telling your boss you’re pregnant…that’s a tough one for me too. We just found out DH got a promotion and we have to move to Denver in early January. So, I’ll tell my boss here probably when I give my month’s notice. But I’m worried about finding a new job in Denver with the same concerns you have – who’s going to want to hire a 4-month pregnant lady who will then take maternity leave in 5 months? I’m sure that your existing manager will understand though. You DO have to keep living your life, right?
Flu shot – I don’t know about this one. And I had a physical with my regular doctor yesterday and totally forgot to ask, so I’ll ask at my OB appointment next week. I’ve gotten them before (not last year, but the year before) and didn’t feel any different. Perhaps I’ll skip it this year to be on the safe side.
Bedding – to be totally honest, I’m still feeling cautious about this whole pregnancy thing, so I haven’t even started looking at ANYTHING. Heck, my DH and I are waiting until after my first OB appointment to even go out and buy a book!
But, Kaeden’s Mommy – I really like the first bedding set you posted. Would you mind telling me where you found it?
Birthing method – we haven’t given this a whole lot of thought yet. But OK, I have to admit it. I’m a total wimp. Perhaps my views on this will change, I don’t know. In theory, I LOVE the idea of natural childbirth with a midwife. But in the end, I’ll probably go with the standard hospital delivery and beg for an epidural. I don’t know. I have to wait and see what kind of health care options are available after we move.
```````````````````````````````````

So far I'm feeling OK and pretty much normal. Although lately I've been feeling really full after I eat, and in the morning I feel a bit off - not really nausea, just indegestion or something. DH has (excitedly) noticed that my bb's have gotten biggger. I don't really thnk anyone has noticed, and if they do, it will probably just look like I've gained a few pounds. But I can barely fit in to my regular bras...looks like I'll have to go shopping! And running? Quite painful...

good morning everyone. the m/s has definitely hit. almost tossed my cookies last night, could barely stand in the shower this morning. I haven't puked yet but I can't say for sure it's not going to to happen soon.

birthing method- regular old hospital birth. I'll definitely take all the classes the hospital offers and I might change my mind. but for right now, just want to keep on baking this baby and get him/her out safely.

eating more- yes, yes and yes. much more often and much crappier foods. I got on the scale yesterday and have actually lost a few pounds. not sure how in the world that happened as I haven't exercised once since I got my BFP. but I'll take it. I have more than a few pounds to spare.

cravings- sent my DH to the store in the rain last night for Captain Crunch. thought I was going to die if I didn't have any. he willingly obliged and it was yummy!!!

bedding- haven't looked yet but you all are inspiring me.. I'm not a good window shopper. I see, I buy. probably a little too early for that.

hope everyone has a great day!

ds ~ I did chart, but I kinda slacked the last couple months. We weren't trying since my sister is getting married in May so I just tracked BD. I didn't think I was O'ing regularly. I'm not concerned. I'll find out in a week one way or another.

Just had to write that I'm glad to know I'm not the only one checking the Toilet Paper...it's funny to think though.

I'll be honest, until I see a Heartbeat on the ultrasound, I'm going to continue being cautiously optimistic. I'm not really worried, but still until I know for sure I don't want to get myself out of control.

I'm determined NOT to buy a single thing for this baby until I see for myself at the ultrasound that everything is progressing nicely. Call me superstitious, but I have told everyone who knows (which isn't many) not to think about buying anything until we pass the 12 week mark. I just don't want to jinx ourselves.

So, I've taken the day of our U/S off work and plan on going shopping with my mom afterwards. That will be an exciting day!

As for bedding, I have been casually looking at baby bedding for years and have one in mind that I really like. I told my sister this weekend that we were PG and she told me that she had bought us a crib (with mattress) and a change table in white, which is exactly what I wanted (although DH could care less to be honest.) Unfortunately, being in Canada, it's much harder to get delivery here, so I don't have the same options as everyone else.

If you are looking at web-sites, could you please post some of the sites you are going to to find bedding? It would be very helpful to know where everyone else is looking.

Birthing Method ~ I'm very lucky, being in Ontario. We can have a Midwife deliver our baby under the Provincial Healthcare (no additional cost) and the midwives can deliver at hospitals and administer epidurals. So we are going to have a hospital delivery with a midwife, which is exactly what I wanted. I'm not a hero and don't care how our baby arrives, as long as it's healthy. And I also won't deny myself drugs to help with the labour either.

Classes ~ DH and I will be doing Birthing/Parenting Classes just to familiarize ourselves. They do teach the breathing techniques, but from what I understand they also teach how to diaper a newborn, how to bathe a newborn, etc. which is critical for DH to learn/understand. Having never really held a baby, he's a little nervous and hopefully the classes will help him get more comfortable.

Okay, that's it for me...it's now lunch time and if I don't eat soon I will be munching on my own arm.

bunnybeth

excitedbride That sounds great, I'm glad everything is looking good for you now! (Dang, now I want Taco Bell nachos again! LOL)

steviem Sometimes I feel that way to, since my cramping is almost non-existent now, being tired is my only symptom yet. (Except when I felt crappy yesterday, but I don't think that was pg-related.) I can't wait until my OB appointment on Thurs, I feel like confirmation is a good thing!

MrsBrownie I saw it at Baby Depot earlier this year (though I'm leery of shopping there) but it doesn't appear to be on their website anymore, so I don't know. It's at a local store called My Child's Room, but I don't think they're national. There's plenty of websites it's available on though!

Congrats Lizard!

shouldaeloped Yay for official confirmation!

Mystikal Cute bedding, I love the colors.

Kaeden's Mommy Thanks, and I am feeling better. I suspect it was not m/s but just all the junk I ate!

Pink Hope that helps you feel better soon!

ambam See my reply to MrsBrownie above

Eating more? Not really more, but I'm craving more junky food, pop, etc. I'm trying to be moderately good, like chocolate milk instead of Pepsi. We'll see how long it lasts...

Checking the tp... Well, at least I'm certainly not alone!

Birth Plan Probably regular old hospital birth, but we'll see. The one hospital I might choose has an "alternative birth options" type of class, and I may check that out. But, the last few periods before my BFP I had some killer cramps, so that soured me on the idea.

Wow! I'm gone for a few days and now I'm about 10 pages behind!

My MIL's angiogram went fine. They found one 50% blockage but think they can treat it with medication. Thursday night, the night before the angiogram, we took the IL's out for dinner. My DH had bought a card to give them (they thought it was because they were leaving on a month long vacation), the sonogram picture was inside and they were shocked! They started crying, my DD's started crying (they found out at the same time). It went really well. They just knew they weren't going to have any more grandkids.

Bedding ~ I haven't really started looking. I'm kind of with ds2003 about not wanting to spend so much money on the matching sets. We'll see.

Birthing Method ~ I will go to the same birth care center as my previous delivery and yes I will be asking for an epidural!:D I hate pain!

Classes ~ I won't be taking any, they didn't really help me.

Flu Shot ~ I've never had one. I very rarely ever get sick.

Sorry for no SO's, but I'm way too behind. I'm home with my 7 year old who has been throwing up all day. She's asleep right now, thank goodness.

hey ladies. . just got back from my first appointment. turns out I am officially pregnant!!! nothing unusual- she did a pap, took blood, weight, blood pressure, peed in a cup. . all the basics. we scheduled my ultrasound for 11/9, she really wants to be sure we can see the heartbeat so it's a little later than normal. next doc appointment is 11/22.

oh. . and my due date is moved to 6/23.

lots of changes here but all good.

flushot- just as a side note, it says in big letters on some of the information we got that a pregnant lady should not have a flu shot before 14 weeks. so I guess I'll be waiting.

hope everyone is doing well. . .

Hello All :D

Birth Plan: DRUGS, DRUGS, DRUGS :D I had the epi with Niko and will with this one, I'm no hero. I won't take classes, I know what's going to happen.

Checking the TP: I've seen the heartbeat and I still check every time. It's sorta scarey when I make a poopie and get a little blood. I then go crazy wiping to make sure it was just that :rolleyes:

~~~~~~~~
So things have changed for me. Now instead of just getting nauseous, I actually can't keep anything down more than an hour :( I went to see the nurse today (to register, etc) and she said if it continues, we'll have to discuss possible hospitalization for an IV to get some nutrients in me :(
They gave me a different drug, phenergan, in suppository form. She thinks that may be better on my stomach than a pill. Something has to work.
So my new due date is June 2nd, however, she said they'll probably induce a week early like Niko so that puts me in May. My next OB appt is November 8th.
I had my blood work today and it was 8 tubes. Plus I had to get this other test being I'm Italian. Something about something that is carried by Italians. I wish I could remember what it was or if I even had it for Niko.
Other than that, I just had a roll with butter and IT WAS THE BOMB. Hopefully it will stay down. I have another roll in the kitchen and I'm trying my hardest to wait so I don't make myself sick by eating too much.
Oh yeah, the nurse said sherbert, ice pops and peaches seem to help :confused: Has anyone else heard of the peaches thing?
Ugh, I went and got this done today. I was dreading it. The nurse was so nice. I almost passed out. I thought I was doing well and then all of the sudden, things started to blur. I told the nurse how I was feeling. She sent my husband down the hall to get water for me. I sipped some and she had him put the water on my face. She kept telling to keep talking and that she was almost done. I made it through all 8 tubes she took. She had me lay down right away and drink some more water. Both she and my DH said my face was very pale. I was also very sweaty. *whew* I'm glad that part is over!!
Ashley ~ Sorry the bloodwork was a bad experience. Glad you had a good nurse and have a great hubby! And that it's over!
Labor/Delivery Plans ~ I'm going to echo Niko's Mommy on this one. I went through Lamaze class last time and it didn't help me much. I'm going epi all the way with this labor too.
And just a super quick post about my bloodwork. I called the doctor's office and they said my panel came back and everything is looking excellent for my pregnancy. Ah, relief! That really helps me feel better! U/S one week away!
Updates to come later! Hope you're all having a great day!
Yikes, this thread moves so fast I can't keep up! My m/s is getting worse . I'm also perpetually hungry. I wake up in the middle of the night between 1-3:00am EVERY night starving. I'm also having very vivid dreams, most of which are just random and bizarre.
L&D plans Definitely drugs! I had some problems with it the first time around in that they found a kink in the tubing(?) so I didn't get the relief that I needed later in the game. However, when it did work, it was God sent! I'm really really queasy when it comes to needles and I found the needle in my back to be a piece of cake!
Please tell me I'm not the only one who is starting to wear maternity pants!
Kaeden'smommy, Calla Lilly, Gina73, Bunnybeth, thank you all for your reassuring words. It really does help :p
Trying to get caught up on some of the last few QOTD's:
Flare-ups: I snapped at DH last night and again today. Not sure it this is related to being PG, or, if DH was really just annoying me..... as he tends to do sometimes :cool:
Bedding: I am loving all the bedding you ladies have picked out- so cute! I think I am going to hold off looking until I have my appointment. I just want to take baby steps, so to speak. However, I did sneak a peek at the bedding/fabric on Javisdavis.com and I am loving all of it!
Birthing Method: I'm all about the drugs. The less pain, the better :D
Classes: DH and I will most likely attend the classes provided by the hospital. From what I have heard, I don't believe I will really get anything out of them, however, I think it will be good for DH and I to spend time together, etc. A nice little bonding experience......
Eating More: Not so much. However, I have been focusing on eating more protein and I've been naughty and have been having real, ranch dressing on my salads instead of the fat free crap I've been eating for so many years! I figure it's better to indulge on this, instead of candy, etc.
Today: Still no symptoms. I think my bbs may be slightly fuller and I've got those lovely goose bump looking things around my nipples. Still tired and am feeling a bit bloated.
Ambam: I am happy you made it through the blood tests. I could feel your pain as I was reading your post. I am the exact same way with needles and the simple thought of them, makes me queasy and my knees go weak! Luckily, you made it through and it is now behind you :)
My first doctor appt is now scheduled for Nov. 2.
I switched from the midwives to a doctor that was recommended by a coworker and since she had never seen me before she wanted to get me in early. Any idea what I can expect? Bloodwork? Lots of paperwork, I'm sure. No u/s this early for me, right? That's only generally reserved for people that have been trying for a while...maybe an internal exam? I'm all freaked out. Since DH can't get off work I'm thinking of asking my mom to come with me and then we can do lunch or something...
Telling your boss
I actually told my boss yesterday. We are all really close in my office-we hang out outside of work, too, and I'm pretty much the only one in the whole office with no kids. I told her yesterday and she was like "are you pulling my leg?" And she started laughing and told me congratulations. She's very happy for me. (And DH, too, of course. lol.)
Speaking of telling your boss...since I told my boss I told my other coworkers as well-I figured it was only a matter of time. ;) So I have this one coworker who has admitted she gained more weight than is healthy when she was pg with her daughter. (About 100 pounds, which she still carries with her even though her daughter is almost three.) She continually hounds me to make sure I'm eating right and enough. This morning she came in and she asked me if I ate breakfast. I said yes and she asked what I had. "Oatmeal," I said. "What else?" "Umm, toast." I replied. Then she asked if I had fruit. I said no, but I had a big bowl of fruit cocktail in the breakroom to snack on throughout the day. She said it wasn't good for me because there was too much sugar. I explained that I got the kind in juice, not syrup and she said "well, you should still eat fresh fruit". I tried telling her I always get too much and then it goes bad and I don't want to waste money but she was just like "well, you'll just have to eat it all." I tell you what, if she doesn't knock it off I'm going to punch her in the freakin' face!!! :mad: It's none of her business, and I lost about 20 pounds eating healthy and exercising, I don't think I need her telling me what to do and what not to do. Gah!!!!!
Wow, lots of catching up to do!
TP Yes, I still check Every Single Time I go to the bathroom. Have a funny feeling that won't change for 8 months or so.......I can be a bit obsessive. :)
Bedding Haven't picked out anything per se, but I'm loving everything that you guys have posted - especially that Wendy Belissimo firetruck set.
Birthing method Haven't educated myself enough to quite make a decision on this one. My gut tells me that I'll likely go with a good old fashioned hospital birth, but anything is possible as time goes on here.
Eating I wouldn't say I'm eating more, I'm just eating differently. I find myself STARVING more often during different points in the day than I ever used to. And usually when I sit down to dinner (again, STARVING), I'll eat half of what is on my plate and be ridiculously full. So not like me. I can eat with the best of 'em normally.
Telling the boss Haven't decided yet. Ideally, I'd like to tell my family before my boss, but that depends on how things go at work over the next number of weeks (m/s, etc). Guess I plan on playing this by ear for now. He's really down to earth and understanding so I'm not too concerned about it.
I'm still feeling really well overall, except for being pretty tired and still battling the sore BBs. I'm at a conference this week and it's SO hard to eat well with such limited pre-made options for meals. It's frustrating.
Mystikal What is up that lady's hind end? Sounds like she's overcompensating for her own unhealthy eating while pregnant and taking it out on you. I'd tell her to back off (in a nice way) if she keeps it up though. How rude!!
Simplicity - No maternity clothes for me yet although I am looking forward to some stretchy pants
Mystikal - I'm glad things went well telling your boss. My boss won't find out for at least another 6 or 7 weeks.
Toilet Paper - I'm sure I'll be checking it forever. I was checking it before I became PG to check my CM so it is almost a habit.
Eating - I am definitely eating more food. I trying to add heathly calories.
Symptoms - I have bbs pain, my areolas are getting bigger and I'm tired. I was in a design review this afternoon and was falling asleep.
I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow...woo hoo. Just a little over 1.5 weeks to my first prenatal exam.
Wow. What a fast moving day!
Birth Method- Drugs, drugs, and drugs! Bring it on.
EatingI've also found that I'll be starving and eat just a little bit and be completely full. Or by the time I'm finished making dinner, I'm not hungry at all.
Flareups I was a miserable bitch at work this morning. That's no so unusual for me,though. I am so NOT a morning person.
No maternity clothes here yet.
Over the weekend, my abdomen felt really hard. Abs of steel or something. But now it feels normal, which is a little smushy, again. Anyone notice that?
No maternity clothes for me yet either. But I'm only 7w2d. I'm sure it's not going to be too far off.
Mrs. Chappy ~ Benjamin is a gorgeous baby! Congratulations and thanks for stopping by!
jbenny ~ I've also noticed my abs being really hard one day and not so hard the next. The strange things you'll notice about your body will astound you over the next several months.
Today ended up being a decent day for me. I'm exhausted but I'll go to bed soon. DS and I had to run to Walmart after I got home from work. Well, stupid me didn't eat supper before I left (we went at 6pm) and was gagging while shopping so I picked up some jerky and a Peach Fresca (awesome, caffeine-free soda) to scarf down on my way home. Once I got home I was starving for waffles so I ate a couple of those.
Too funny that most of you are craving Mexican. I can't get enough Chinese food!
Updates to come!
Hi everyone! Here I am with my (not so regular) update. You guys who do SO's are soooo with the program. I'm soooo not. But I do try to read everything, and I promise that I'm thinking about all of my fellow June mommies.
Not to discourage anyone re: m/s, but mine first hit at 6 weeks, and now since I've crossed the 8 week threshold, it appears to have gotten worse. But I still haven't actually thrown up (although brushing my teeth in the morning without gagging is becoming progressively more difficult), and I haven't missed any work due to not feeling well. For me, it's definitely worse in the morning. I've just loaded up on snacks (cottage cheese, fruit cups, string cheese, crackers) that I can eat at my desk because if my stomach gets empty I feel ten times worse. I'm trying really hard to eat healthy, but it seems like the things that appeal to me the most are the fattiest, most unhealthy things ever. Sunday night we went to a family restaurant and I ordered 2 eggs over easy, hash browns, and corned beef hash. It was sooo good, but it was soooo bad for me. I think I've felt guilty about that, so I've done a little better since. :o
Labor/Delivery: I've thought quite a bit about this, and I'm having a hospital birth with an OB (they don't do midwives in the hospitals around here yet), and my only hope is that I can go into labor naturally. I DO NOT want to be induced. And I'd like to labor at home for as long as possible rather than being tied to a hospital bed with monitors, etc. for hours and hours. I'm open to an epidural if I need one, but I really hope I can manage without one.
Maternity Clothes: I have some things that I've gotten at rummage sales, but I'm not wearing them yet. I do have a little pooch already, and there are some pants that I definitely won't be wearing again (perhaps ever). I really need to get some comfy lounge pants because I have a feeling I'm going to be living in those at home for the next few months.
Telling: We've pretty much told everyone now. I told my coworkers yesterday, I told some of my extended family on Sunday. It'll definitely be getting around now. There are 4 women pregnant at my church right now, and there have been 3 babies already this year, so the nursery's going to be hoppin'.
Kaeden's Mommy: I noticed you said you drank Fresca, and I just wanted to make sure you knew that Fresca has aspartame in it. It's one of those sodas that doesn't actually say "diet", but I'm pretty certain if you look at the ingredients list you'll find that it is. Which is a bummer 'cuz I like it, too. :(
Well, I can't think of anything else right now. I can't believe I'm almost 9 weeks!:eek:
Graffy, I am the same way with the eating. I have been eating pretty much nonstop and what appeals to me most is the bad stuff! I indulged in some McDonalds last Wednesday and it's just gone downhill from there! Unfortunately, my runaway eating has resulted in the scale reading almost 5 pounds higher than it did about 10 days ago - not good! I'm thinking of allowing myself one "bad" meal per week and doing my best to eat healthily the rest of the time. So hard to resist the cravings though!
I realized I never answered about telling. We've told our immediate families and once couple who we're really close friends with. Other than that, noone will find out until after we've heard the heartbeat which will hopefully be at my appointment on Nov 8. I'm going to try to hold off telling work as long as possible. Hopefully my aforementioned weight gain won't give me away before I'm ready! I'm thankful that it's getting to be bulky sweater season around here!
Kaeden’s Mommy – I drink Sprite and Ginger Ale. Neither has aspartame nor caffeine. Luckily they were my favorite sodas before I got PG.
Telling – I think I may have answered this before, but since I don’t remember I’ll do it again. We are telling our parents when we see them over Thanksgiving. We will see DH parents before then, but I want to tell our parents around the same timeframe. I plan on telling my boss sometime after that. Probably before Christmas but possibly afterwards. 2 coworkers know and 4 of my college buddies that I stay in touch with also know.
I just realized that I need to pay more attention to the ingredients of the stuff I eat. I just finished a bag of Lays BBQ chips and while I was finishing the bag I read through the ingredients for fun. Anyhow, it contains MSG. I’ve been avoiding MSG when I can. I guess no more Lays BBQ chips for me. I’m not worried about what I’ve had so far, but I won’t be having more. I’ve limited myself to a few seasonings at home to cook. I cut out the chicken bouillon since the kind I use has MSG. I occasionally cooked with Accent and that is almost purely MSG. It is amazing the ingredients you find in stuff you assume is okay.
So right now the stuff on my do not consume list is aspartame, MSG, caffeine, and deli meat, On my limited consumption list is canned tuna, Splenda and seafood in general. I’ve very picky about the seafood I eat now.
I find the same thing happening to me when I'm hungry! That has happened the past two days at dinner time. Same thing also with the abdomen. Some days it will be hard and other days back to the smushy. Today I couldn't put my work pants on, so I left them partly unzipped and my sweater covered it! I'm sure I'll have plenty more days like that!
Chances are if you're a size small, med, large in pants, you'll probably be the same in maternity pants as well. Most places have a size chart so that helps, too. When I was pg with my son, however, I noticed I was a size bigger though b/c of the "twins." :rolleyes:
~~~~~~~~~
Callalilly I started feeling sick on Saturday, which was the day before I hit 6weeks. Seems to be the mark for alot of us! I haven't noticed a Bjorn with mesh. That is a good idea for you being in AZ!

Jbenny Heehee, I don't know what it is about the nachos that are just so good right now!

Orange 6weeks seems to be the mark for us for m/s! Ugh, I had Mc.D's this weekend too!

Ryan I can't imagine going through that pain with your eye. I hope you can get it under control! I can't wait to hear how it goes this weekend with your fortune cookies!

Gina Thank you. I do feel relieved!

Bunnybeth Thank you! Heehee, those nachos are very tempting!

Sunshine You have me lol, about the nachos! heehee! I too had a short labor with my DS, it was 6 1/2 hours. I hope the same for this baby! Funny that there are so many of us, I remember in the Junemommies 04 there were alot of us too!

Dansgirl Thank you for talking about nachos!;)

Shouldaeloped I am glad your appt. went so well!

Nikosmommy I hope you don't have to be hospitalized! Hmmm, my grandfather on my dads side was Italian. I haven't heard anything about being Italian and having to be tested for anything. I am curious now.

Ambam I am glad you made it through ok getting all that blood taken! I know the maternity clothes at Old Navy tell you what a small is. Like 2-4. Not sure if other companies do the same thing.

Simplicity I am sorry that you are going through m/s too. I have been wearing my maternity pants for awhile now too!

Msytikal How annoying of your coworker!

MrsChappy What a cutie you have there! I was in the Junemommies 04!

Ds2003 I hope you don't get m/s! But it 6weeks seems to be the mark for some of us!

Graffy Thanks for the info on Fresca, I was hoping to try some soon, but will be staying away from it.

What is your desired birthing method? Do you plan to take a birthing class? If so, have you decided what class? If this is not your first child, what classes did you take and do you plan to take any more?

With my DS we took a bunch of classes. Prepared childbirth, breastfeeding, babysaver, and babycare. I don't plan on taking any this time. With my DS, I had an epidural, and most likely plan on that again.:D

Telling We have pretty much told everyone now. Extended family I am sure will find out from other family members. There are still some friends that don't know yet.

Whew, I think I am caught up!

Welcome shamocha17!

ds2003 - the MSG thing...totally forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder. I haven't been eating too many packaged foods since I'm trying to be healthy, so I haven't read too many labels. But how can you tell if something you order from a restaurant/deli contains MSG? Like the chicken noodle soup I had for lunch? I have nooooo clue.

Question - when you are saying you're at such-and-such week, are you counting from LMP or date of conception?

Somehow I didn't get a chance to check into CC at all today. Arg... no time for so's but...

Cravings Why is it that I'm craving all this junk food? Nachos, french fries (which I only moderately like usually) and Pepsi all top my list. I'm trying to watch what I eat, though last week I was down a pound, but I put on 3 the week before that...

Maternity clothes I'm so early, so I'm still fitting in my normal clothing just fine. Not even needing my "fat clothes" yet. (From when I lost 25 lbs.) But, I just saw a really cute maternity jean jacket on clearance, so I am tempted to buy that now.

gina73 I'm basically counting from my LMP, but adjusted for the fact that I O'd at CD17, not 14. I used some online pregnancy calculator to figure it out from my O date.

Copied from my journal-----------

All I can say is WOW! It was sooo amazing to see the heart beating strong and steady and to get pics of our little bean. Everything is great and she said that my blood levels are excellent and we are good to go. Our official due date is 06-10-06. Our next ultrasound to hear the heart is the 23rd of November, and our BIG ultrasound is the 12th of January (my birthday!!).
I'll have pics scanned by the weekend of our bean. We both cried and the dr was so excited for us. She said that this month she has 15 new patients being preggo, my hairstylist is also preggo and due 5 days before me. It's like it's in the water or something.. LOL

Heart Doppler I rented one with my DS, I was 13weeks, and we found his h/b. It was so awesome and reassuring to have it! I think it was around $30 a month. We kept it for a few months til I started feeling him kick. I am lucky this time around as I have a friend who owns one and is going to let me borrow it. As for safety, I think it is fine to use for a few mins at a time. I am sure it isn't good for long periods of time. The Dr. does start using it at every appt. once they find the h/b, so I am sure it is fine.:)

Dan's girl: That's great news! Yes there must be something in the water...I mean, just check out the number of pg women in this thread! ;)

QOTD #1: Things you crave: Seriously, I crave salad all the time especially salad from the Olive Garden. I could eat it all day! I also crave and eat pasta, rice, and potatoes every chance I get. I guess you could say I'm on a high carb diet! I also crave spicy food such as Thai.

QOTD #2: Foods or smells that make you sick: I know it's strange but I am having the hardest time drinking water. It makes me want to throw up. :( I also can't stand the smell of cigarettes when I walk pass someone who is smoking. Oh and the smell of the aisles in the grocery store makes me sick too. Random, I know!

Sorry no time for so's....

RE: Doppler...I am planning on renting one, but I will only use it in moderation. I plan on renting it in a couple of weeks. I will probably just get the basic one, and only rent it until I feel movement.
Here are some web sites:
http://www.dynamicdoppler.com
http://www.heartones.com
http://www.bellybeats.com/

I had my first appointment yesterday. It was mainly a Q&A session (no exam), and then to the lab for blood work (6 viles). The dr doesn't normally do early ultra sounds, but she had no problem with me getting one (her office doesn't actually do them)...so I scheduled my first US for 10/31 Also, my second dr's appointment is scheduled for 11/21.

Speaking of ultrasounds, does anyone plan on getting a 3-d or 4-d ultrasound?

RE: Clothes...my clothes are still fitting fine. I have bought a couple of maternity clothes (which I am not yet wearing), just so I have something when I need it. For size I actually bought a size bigger then I normally wear...just because I figure I will be more likely to wear it at 35 weeks.

By the way, you are ALL bad influences! Every time I come here, I want to go get nachos!

Cravings Mmmmmmm, pickles. :o Seriously, last week when I was in Florida for work I went down to the buffet one night and they had pickle spears. I must have eaten like ten of them. They were sooooooo good.

MSG color me stupid, but why should we avoid it? :confused:

Foods and Smells that make you sick none really yet. However, when I walked into the bathroom at work yesterday I almost puked. It didn't stink, it just had the public restroom smell and it made me gag.

No real m/s yet, just some nausea occasionally. I am exhausted, though. I actually fell asleep at work yesterday while sitting straight up in my chair!!! :eek:

You can find more info if you search. I found this on BabyCenter. To me there is no reason to use MSG. There are a lot of mixed studies out there. When I eat out I just go with the flow, but I don't cook with it at home and I avoid packaged foods that have it.

Question: Is it safe to eat foods with MSG during pregnancy?

Answer: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a natural component of many foods; some restaurants, home cooks, and food manufacturers also use it as a flavor enhancer. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (FDA) has been testing MSG for years and rates it Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).

However, the FDA requires that all foods containing MSG include that information on labels because some people develop an adverse reaction to it, whether pregnant or not. In sensitive individuals, MSG can trigger headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, or sleep disturbances. For this reason, you may want to avoid it during pregnancy. There's no evidence that MSG is harmful to a developing fetus.

Dopplar: I bought a cheap kind of heartbeat monitor when I was preg. with Andrew it worked pretty well I will probably buy something like that again - I think it was around $35-$50 too bad I let a friend borrow it several yrs ago & never got it back

QOTD #1: Things you crave: at first it was salsa & chips but I do not crave them anymore - I guess my taste are changing!

QOTD #2: Foods or smells that make you sick: subway bread as soon as I open the door to the store, certain foods - alot of smells are making me gag right now but Thank God I have NOT thrown up ... yet!

Thought I would pass this along incase you wanted to sign up for some some freebies & coupons from Enfamil ...

Mind if I join? I'm actually due on 5/31, but I see that there's someone in this thread with the same due date. :) I've been lurking for weeks now (I haven't even ever posted on CC even though I was a big WC user), but I'm finally ready to join all of you. I must say, reading that you're all going through the same sorts of things I am makes me feel so much less crazy. ;)

Here's my info:

CC Name: ladyjg
Me: Katie, 24
DH: John, 26
Married: 1/4/03
TTC: 9/05
BFP: 9/20/05
EDD: 5/31/06

My next dr. appointment is on 11/18, and then we'll finally get to hear the heartbeat!

Hi and welcome ladyjg!

QOTD #1: Things you crave: Y'know I haven't really been craving anything lately. Mostly starchy bread types of things, because they're safe on the ol' digestive system. Though I'd love to be craving salads or something healthy! Last night I found myself devouring a half a bag of potato chips. :rolleyes: DH looked over and asked if I was hungry, and I told him "the baby needs chips".

QOTD #2: Foods or smells that make you sick: Haven't experienced too much of this thankfully, but I have a couple of co-workers who smoke, and their breath...ugh. Can't be anywhere near them. Oh, and DH ate peanut butter yesterday and I couldn't even kiss him. So I guess those are close...

Another question - What would you do if you were me? (Isn't this like the 3rd one of these I've posted in here? Geesh.)

OK, here goes: I'm a modern dancer currently rehearsing for a show in January with a choreographer I've been working with for about 5 years and is a very dear friend. This morning we started working on some new section, where she has me and another dancer slamming in to each other, followed by this kind of aggressive partnering work. I'm feeling a bit aprehensive about doing this, and not really sure it's safe for me to continue doing. We haven't told ANYONE we're pregnant yet - we wanted to tell our parents first - but I'm feeling like I don't know how to get around WHY I can't do this kind of movement. Any advice? I'm thinking I just need to come out and give her the news in the strictest of confidence so I can protect myself...

Thanks so much, shouldaeloped and ds2003! I'm so excited to be able to share this journey with other women. None of my friends/relatives are pregnant, and we're actually the first of our close friends to have a baby, so while everyone's excited for us, not all of them can relate to this.

Gina - call your dr/mw and get their opinion. I would definitely consider telling your choreographer. Can you trust her? I don't know how much time she puts into choreography, but I would appreciate knowing so I don't waste my time on sometime you won't be able to perform.

Gina ~ I agree with ds2003.

Welcome ladyjg!

QOTD #1: Things you crave: ~ I was actually craving salad and cottage cheese there for a while, but now, I don't know....

QOTD #2: Foods or smells that make you sick: ~ No one thing makes me sick, I just start getting sick if I am eating something and have had enough. I just look at what's left on my plate and think, UGH!

I really appreciate the warm welcome. :)

Gina - I wasn't ignoring you in my earlier thanks; we must've cross-posted. I agree with the other ladies. I hope you're able to get it worked out soon.

Someone might've posted something like this earlier, but I don't remember... I've been experiencing some major nausea since about 6 weeks (seems to be the norm), and even though I'm almost always hungry, I just can't eat much. It's so frustrating. :( I know I've lost some weight, and it's not because I've been vomiting, but because I can't eat. I've been living on cereal, cottage cheese, pineapple, and carrots. On, and the occasional granola bar. Not bad foods, I know, but DH will bring me something for dinner that I've been craving, and then I'll only be able to pick at it. So, rene', I can totally relate to what you're saying about feeling sick after you've been eating and had enough of something.

Can anyone relate to this? I've been trying to just eat when and what I can, but I'd like to feel like I'm at least consuming as many calories as I did before I got pregnant.

Gina,

Call your practitioner to ask about your particular situation but my understanding is that your baby is very safe and protected by your pelvic structure at this point in the pg. My OB told me I could continue to rock climb and mountain bike until about 16 weeks pg because the uterus is so well protected. At about 16 weeks, the uterus starts to pop out from behind the pubic bone and is less protected. Also, your center of gravity will start to shift so you might become more clumsy.

So, since you have been a dancer since before pregnancy, I don't think you need to worry unless you are just really uncomfortable with the dance rehearsals. By January though, you probably won't be able to perform so aggressively so you may want to tell her so she can come up with a modification now?

__________________________________________________ _____________

Welcome to all the new ladies!!

Cravings: none so far. If anything, I have been less hungry though.

No m/s for me but I have been lucky with both previous pgs.

No maternity yet. I made it to 26 weeks with Rachel and 23 weeks with Wyatt before I had to go to maternity full time. I am hoping to get close to that this time too but we'll see!!

Mystikal -- You are definitely not alone! I'm at 9w 1d, and I can't shake that feeling either. :rolleyes: I've had a nurse visit and dr. appointment, and during my exam last time she said everything looked good. That did make me feel good for a while, but then I started wondering how she really knows. I mean, sure, she has a huge collage of babies she's delivered on the wall, so I assume she knows what she's doing ;), but without an ultrasound, how does she know for sure?! I'm very anxiously awaiting our chance to hear the heartbeat in 3 weeks.

Cross posted from my LJ:

It went great! We saw the baby and his/her h/b! 141bpm! She did see some blood pooling, but she said that she was sure it was all normal, and will be aborbed normally. She said she had to see what the radiologist said. They said everything is fine! Whew!:D The u/s measured the baby at 7weeks 1day. Only three days difference, she said was perfectly normal.:D

I had my first appointment today. It went well...standard bloodwork, etc. The only thing that really bothered me was that my OB said I wouldn't be having an ultrasound until 4 months and then another at 8 months. I had one at 6 weeks with DD...same doctor! Oh, well I guess?? The bloodwork was fine. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be! I'd lost 6lbs. since my last appointment in mid-August, but he said that was fine. My next appointment is November 23rd.

I've been feeling better...glad to be over the flu! I've been MIA and won't do all the SO's, but congrats to all the newbies!! Hope you all have a wonderful night!!!

I am sooo tired. Tuesday I was sooo tired I thought I would barely make it through the day. I went to bed at 9:00, slept til 6:30 and still couldn't get my butt out of bed after 9 1/2 hours of sleep. No time for much of an update. Welcome to our new mommies and good to hear from everyone else.

I was dead tired and sick today (just m/s) so I went to work for 4 hours and took the rest of the day off. I came home and fed DS lunch and put him down for a nap. I figured I catch a quick nap while he slept. I got a 3 hour nap!!! Woo hoo!!!

Thanks everyone for your advice about my situation. I've decided to go ahead and tell the choreographer, since even if it might be safe to do such things now, I might not be so willing come January. My first OB appointment in next Wednesday, so I'm going to wait to ask my OB what she thinks.

excitedbride and LindsaySD - I'm glad to hear your appointments went well!

I know we've asked WHO you've told, but how about another QOTD:

HOW did you tell people you were pregnant? Or, how are you planning on telling folks? Just coming right out with it? Trying something creative?

Kaedens Mommy way to go on the nap! That sounds so heavenly! I went out yesterday to pick up something for lunh and actually contemplated taking a short snooze in my car, but I chickened out.

excitedbride, Lindsay and DansGirl, I'm glad to hear your appointments went well!

rene'. I'm so glad it is Friday too! I took 2 days off last week so having to work 5 in a row is wiping me out!

QOTD We've just been coming out and telling people. I tell them that our DD is going to be a big sister. We were a bit more creative the first time around, but everyone pretty much knows that we were planning to have 2 kids and have them be around 3 years apart, so it's no big shock.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm still feeling pretty good with mild nausea most of the day, although it is worse in the afternoon/evening. I've been a little worried that once I hit 8 weeks it would get worse as someone else said (maybe Graffy?) but so far so good. I am really tired though. I have to get up around 5:30 for work and I just can't get myself to bed early enough. My DH has been a rock star in terms of taking care of the house and our DD and indulging my cravings/aversions though.
QOTD: HOW did you tell people you were pregnant? Or, how are you planning on telling folks? Just coming right out with it? Trying something creative?
We took my in-laws and dd's out for dinner. My DH had bought a card and put the sonogram picture in it. My in-laws are going on a month long vacation November 1, so they just thought it had something to do with that. So, they opened the card and the sonogram picture fell out. They were so shocked as well as my DD's. DH had signed the card "Love, Todd, Rene', Alexa, Bailey & ?".
Graffy
Orange: Yep, that was me who noticed the m/s getting worse at 8 weeks. I hope that's not the case for you. This week has been a tough one for me. I've been beyond exhausted by about 2 in the afternoon, but then I'm having a hard time getting comfortable at night, so it doesn't seem like I'm sleeping very well. Everyone keeps telling me it'll get better in a few weeks, so that's what I'm counting on... And then, I finally gave in to my craving for a spicy chicken burrito from Taco Bell yesterday and felt 10 times worse afterwards! Hopefully that will take away any desire for Taco Bell for the rest of my pregnancy.
I can't believe I'm 9 weeks already. Although my clothes are already really tight, and I swear I've got a good-sized pooch happening. My bbs and my belly are the only things that are getting bigger though, the rest of me still looks normal. I think maybe I'm gestating a baby giant!
We pretty much just came right out and told. Actually DH did. He's kinda matter of fact about that sort of thing. :rolleyes:
I can't think of anything else to add, other than TGIF!
Mystikal I almost fell asleep at work the other day myself. Dratted tiredness...
Gina Good luck with your dancing, hopefully you can work out your routine to fit your changing needs. Your plan sounds great for handling it.
excitedbride Very exciting, you got to see the h/b! And, that's great news to boot. :)
jbenny I've gone to bed before 9 a couple of times already. :p
Foods or smells that make you sick Not too many, but when I was at Einstein Bros to get a bagel with hummus (yummmmmy!) the sweet smells of the other pastries and such made me gag a little. I'm really craving salty foods and having aversions to more sweet stuff.
How did you tell? My parents I gave a grandparent's brag book with a photo of my HPT+ and everyone else so far we just told. (DH didn't want to wait to send something to his parents.)
-----------
Had my first ob appointment yesterday. Most of it was with the nurse- pregnancy test, going over medical history, packet of information, taking 4 viles of blood. But, I did see my ob for a bit, she did an internal exam (though not a pap since I had one last month) and answered my questions. Next appt is scheduled (every 4 weeks until 28w) and we have to schedule the u/s which will be done sometime next month. And, my EDD has been tweaked, based off my LMP, but since it's just 2 days off my O-date adjusted EDD, I don't care, so I'm just going to go with it. Hey, it means I'm 2 days further along. ;)
Next ob appointment is November 23 and please update my EDD to June 20
And, TGIF. My department is having a Halloween party today. I'm dressd as Little Red Riding Hood and the daycare kids are coming by for trick-or-treating in a couple of hours. But, I guess I should try to get *some* work done...
Rene: That was a cute way to tell them & dd's :)
QOTD: HOW did you tell people you were pregnant? Or, how are you planning on telling folks?
Here is how we told Andrew (our 10 yr old son). My dh wanted to be the one to come up with the idea. Since my ds loves to play card games - dh said they would play one, ds did not know that taped to alot of the cards was a little note saying "youre going to be a BIG brother" so they started playing & ds looked at the cards & said what is this, youre cheating! all my cards say I'm a big brother .... I am not - That is when we told him that he would be in June. It was amazing to see the smile on his face. He was soooo excited.
my mom : I talk to my mom everyday on the phone & it has been sooo hard not to tell her - so we went there & I gave her a present (a bib that says I love my Grandma) she opened it she said OMG, Are you? I said yes. she did not cry like I thought she would but she was excited.
Sun Oct 16th: We went to my grandfathers 90th birthday lunch after everyone was finished eating & done with cake - we told them that we were pregnant & due in June ... everyone got really excited ....my g'dad, my dad, stepmom, my brother, sister in law & neice & nephew were there.
In laws: we told MIL/FIL over over the phone :) I told DH that it was not fair if we waited til Thanksgiving just to see MIL's reaction. So we called & told FIL to grab the camera & take her pic when we tell her. So we told her over the speakerphone. She was happy but I really expected some major screaming & crying but noooo she did scream "we are pregnant, we are pregnant!"
Graffy – my night time sleeping has definitely gotten worse. I can get comfortable, but I can’t stay comfortable. It hasn’t helped that I’m extremely congested and am having problems with allergies. It has got to be the hormones. I haven’t had a problem with allergies since I moved north 6 years ago.
Bunnybeth – glad to see your appt went well.
QOTD how we will tell: We plan on getting a double frame and putting a picture of the two of us on one side (still up for discussion) and an ultrasound pic on the otherside.
I think I have a lead-in to how we will tell my parents. I spoke to my mom yesterday and she is thinking about going to Disney World in June with my dad, DH and I , my bro, my sis, BIL and nephew. If I can keep her from insisting on an answer until Thanksgiving, I will tell her that we can’t go in June, because I don’t think any airlines will allow me to fly. I may wait and see if she figures it out or we may give them the frame at that point. I suggest that we go at Christmas next year.
QOTD food aversions: I still eat and drink what I ate before (with the exception to stuff I’m purposely avoiding). Nothing is bothering me so far. I do find that I like food hotter and spicier than before. So far no heartburn.
Copied from another thread I started:
Just wanted to give you an update. I was vomitting again this morning but not a lot. I went to the Dr. today and I am still really sick and if I continue to vomit over the weekend I will be hospitalized. I could also have to come home with an iv bag and wear it at home too so I don't become so dehydrated it becomes dangerous. I've lost 7 lbs in 4 or 5 days. The good news is the baby is growing like a weed and has a strong heartbeat. I got to see it! The Dr. says there is a chance I could be sick like this my entire pregnancy, he said his sister was and almost died from this, THANKS DOC!! If I am not hospitalized I will see the Dr. again next Friday. I can't even take prenatal vitamins they had to just give me some folic acid. I will let you know how things go.
Next appt. is Nov. 4
I haven't posted in here much b/c I wanted to go to my first appointment and make sure everything is looking okay. Well, that appointment was yesterday, and it went great. I wasn't expecting to get an ultrasound, but he did one and we got to see the heartbeat! I cried like a baby. I think seeing that little heart beating really made this whole "baby thing" sink in with DH.
Pink-I'm so sorry you're still feeling so bad. It's good to know that it's not having a negative effect on the baby though.
QOTD: We haven't told anyone that I'm pregnant yet. We'll probably tell our families next weekend when we go down to visit. I've bought "I love grandma" and "I love grandpa" picture frames to give to them. In the place where the pic goes, I'll put a sign that says "Reserve this space for Baby L., estimated arrival date 6/23/05."
Next appointment is scheduled for Nov. 17, when we'll hopefully get to hear the heartbeat!
QOTD: Yes, I have a fear of m/c. In some ways more now than with my prior 2. Like I'm pushing my luck or something.
We've told most all my family and DH. No one is totally surprised since most everyone knows we want at least 3. But I think people are surprised that it is so soon (only 17 months diff than Wyatt). My mom actually asked me if I was sure I was up for it. Like I could still change my mind (where's that roll eyes?!!) I love her but she drives me bonkers sometimes.
Cute shirts.
Pink- sorry you're so sick.
I have to pee ALL the time. And there's no "Oh, next time I run by the bathroom, I'll go." It's like I get the urge, and I gotta run to the bathroom right then. Last night, I actually had one of those dreams that you had when you were a kid, that you were peeing, and you woke up and you were. Please tell me someone else had that dream! I didn't pee in bed, but thank goodness that dream woke me up!
Today has not been my best day. I woke up this morning knowing I was going to get sick. I tried to lay in bed and talk myself out of it, but couldn't. I had nothing in my stomach to throw up except a little lemonade that I'd drank when I got a bottle for DS. It was terrible. Ugh. I'd forgotten how bad it feels to throw up when there's nothing in your stomach.
Tonight I joined 2 of my good friends for dinner at The Olive Garden. The chicken alfredo is so yummy! DS was overtired since he took only 1 nap today and was a little monster towards the end. One of my friends is practicing since she's due in March so she took care of him a lot.
I'll be off to bed soon as I'm exhausted tonight.
6 weeks, 6 days
I can't believe I'm almost 7 weeks already. My first Dr.'s appt. is next Monday. When I made the appt. it seemed so far off. I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes by so quickly. Well, at least the being fat and uncomfortable part. I'm actually getting to the point where I can forget about being PG sometimes. I'm no longer obsessing over it every second of the day.
MystikalNot having any trouble fitting into any clothing yet. I have gained 3 or 4 lbs, though. I do have one pair of capris that only fit me on very skinny days normally, they are out, but that's about it.
Like Calla Lilly said, I did feel extremely bloated there for awhile, too.
MrsCantDecide - Thanks for the congrats.
Okay. I'm starting to worry myself. I feel like my boobs are getting smaller. I might go in tomorrow to have another blood test because I need some assurance that everything is still okay.
Mystikal - my clothes are still fitting fine. I had bloating in the beginning but that is now gone.
ds2003- I can definitely relate to disappearing symptoms. one minute I am entirely convinced something is wrong because I'm not as nauseaus, because my boobs aren't as sore as they were yesterday. . . the list goes on and on. It certainly can't hurt to get a little reassurance and I hope you get nothing but good news from the doc.
most of my clothes are fitting okay. . except for my jeans. they aren't just cutting the mustard anymore but I think it's more that I don't want anything touching my waistline. I have actually lost a few pounds as my appetite has pretty much gone in the toilet. only craving junk and trying hard not to eat it.
Mystikal
10-30-2005, 04:07 PM
jbenny I have gained four pounds, too! At least I'm not the only one! I have been eating a bit more than usual because I was trying to lose weight before getting pg so I was only eating around 1200-1300 calories so I've upped it to about 1600 or so, but still not enough to make me gain that much weight so quickly. :o
Anybody else realizing they have NO IDEA what the heck they need to raise a baby? Is there a master list somewhere that tells you what to register for/buy, what time frame you need certain stuff, etc. I haven't been around a lot of babies (obviously :o ).
Dh went to the grocery store for me today because the thought of it made me vomit...literally. He came back with a pack of diapers :D ! It was sooo cute. He said "I heard you should buy a pack of diapers everytime you shop before the baby comes so you will be stocked up when it gets here". Him helping me so much thru me being sick is really reminding me why I love him so much.
Pink ~ There's no master list, but I'm sure many of us can post a list of necessities. Really, it's not as hard as you think to figure it all out. Your instincts help you through it. What an amazingly sweet DH you have.
I think my m/s is getting worse. I've been so sick today that I haven't even gotten out of my pjs. I'm already tired of eating and trying to find food that sounds and tastes good. Last week it was Chinese, this week it's Italian and pasta. Nothing else even remotely sounds good. Only 32 more weeks!!! :rolleyes:
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. :) Looks like this thread was pretty active over the weekend, so I'll have to make sure I'm all caught up.
We had a pretty crazy Friday. That morning I woke up to some heavy spotting. I'd had some very light spotting before my last appointment, and my dr. said to call if it became heavier. I hadn't seen any since, so when I saw it I was terrified. I called the dr.'s office at 8:45am, and within 5 min. a nurse had called me back to send me in for bloodwork and an ultrasound. The ultrasound was awesome. Based on my LMP I was 9w 2d, and the baby measured at 9w 1d, and we saw his/her heart beating away at 167bpm. It was THE coolest thing ever! The tech gave us some pics and told us to sit in the waiting room while she checked out the u/s pics, so we did. The nurse I spoke with on the phone had said to stop by the OB suite on our way out to get the results of the blood work, but the receptionist in Imaging said that the dr. was sending us home. She said that she'd call me, and if not that I should call. :confused: We were very confused, but we did as she said. No one called. I called at 3:30, and the same receptionist I'd talked to when I called that morning said that as soon as my dr. got the results of the bloodwork she or a nurse would call me back. I haven't heard anything. :(
I'm hoping that everything's okay or we would've heard something. As far as we could tell the u/s looked great. I don't even know what the bloodwork is supposed to tell us, so I don't know if I should be worrying or not. I just wish the dr. would call and say that everything's fine. She won't be in that office until Tues., so I'm afraid I might have to wait until then to find out. All I'm having now is some brown spotting, and the u/s tech didn't give us any reason to be concerned, so am I worrying about nothing? I sure hope so.
kmmommy
10-30-2005, 06:35 PM
lady ~ Sorry for the scare and that no one called you back. How frustrating. Call again tomorrow morning. However, brown spotting is old blood so there's usually no problem with brown spotting.
ladyjg
10-30-2005, 06:41 PM
Wow, you're fast, Kaeden'sMommy. :) Thank you. The brown spotting is a relief. It was bright red on Friday, so that's what was so scary. I wish I knew what they were testing for so I'd know what it is that I'm waiting to find out. ;)
I think there is a list on the Babies R Us website, but I bet they think a lot of things are "necessary" that really aren't.
Not trying to hijack your June Mommies thread, since I'm actually going to be a July Mommy, but... Can anyone tell me how long it's normal for the cramps to last? Every time I feel them, I worry that AF is on her way. :rolleyes:
jbenny75
10-31-2005, 03:54 AM
Shelby I think we all worried through the cramps as well. I haven't had any for about a week and I'm 7 weeks. According to what I've read, as long as you aren't bleeding with the cramps, you're okay. There are all kinds of things stretching around in your abdomen. I can't remember if you were taking any meds, but I took Clomid, and read that if you were taking any fertility meds, the cramping could be worse because your ovaries could be enlarged.
Pink Converse So cute of your husband..and what a great idea! I think I'm gonna start doing that, too. I was thinking BRU probably has some type of list of what you should have for the baby. I was also planning on taking a friend of mine who just had a baby and has three other kids along with me to register, so that she could let me know what I really needed and what wasn't necessary. Do you have anyone that could help you out that way?
ladyjgThinking of you and hoping everything is okay! How nervewracking!
My best friend can help me register, she has two children but she just doesn't research products and things like we CC ladies do! She told me yesterday not to get a swing or a walker because she has a swing and got the "Cadillac of walkers" yesterday and her baby would be out of them by the time mine came so I could borrow them :) . Two less things I need.
My first appt is this afternoon and I'm so freaking excited! It will be nice to finally talk to a doctor and get a little reassurance that everything looks ok. I've had some doubts as well because of disappearing symptoms - the BB soreness now fluctuates. They are always sore, but some days more sore than others. So, when I have a day that is not as sore, I start to worry. I'm sure I'm reading too far into things.
My clothes are fitting me ok. The waistbands on my work/casual pants are slightly tighter, but jeans are another story. I feel huge when I put jeans on because they are much tighter in the waist and thighs than they ever were. I've stayed the same weight-wise, so I guess I'm retaining water or something.
Happy Halloween, everyone! I'm sorry I was MIA last week. Seems that M/S kicked in for me at 6 weeks. No puking but a lot of quesiness, stomachaches, and gagging. Ugh. I made it through most of the week, but left early on Friday afternoon. I got home at 1 p.m. and went straight to bed for three hours! It felt great. I've been carrying around my sparkling water and sour altoids every where I go, which seemed to help. And I'm actually feeling much better today.
My first appointment is Friday. I'm so excited!
Hope everyone else is doing well!!
Happy Monday and Happy Halloween everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been feeling so tired, I spent a lot of it on the couch! Queasiness is still about the same, there but totally manageable especially with my new best friends, sour altoids.
buying diapers Those of you who are thinking of stocking up on diapers ahead of time, don't get too many in the smaller sizes! Some babies never even wear the newborn size and they just fly through the sizes until they get up to size 3 or 4. I would buy one of those giant Costco boxes, only to give most of them away bcause my DD would suddenly outgrow them.
buying baby gear, Most places you register will have a list, although really you don't need anywhere near as much stuff as they recommend. There are a lot of things that some people love and other people never use and you'll never know until you try it. For example, I used my boppy for nursing all the time at first, then again when my DD was learning to sit up on her own, but some people never find any use for it. Same thing with a swing - some babies are soothed by it, some are not. It's great if you can borrow a lot of that stuff so if you don't use it, you wont be spending your money.
b]pants[/b] I'm definitely more comfortable in my "fat" pants these days, although I can still wear most of my regular pants. My rapid weight gain a while ago has stalled (yay!) so I'm hoping to keep wearing them for at least a few more weeks.
ladyjg, I hope you get good news from your doctor today! It sounds like everything is just fine though.
Hello All :D
I'm so far behind in the thread :( I didn't go online all weekend, wasn't feeling good at all.
I can actually keep some stuff down now, however, it is not the best stuff for us :o I seemed to have taken a fancy to this thing Brian calls a hole in one. It is a sunny side up egg, cooked inside a slice of bread that you've made a hole in. I know I shouldn't be eating eggs that aren't cooked all the way, but I'm craving it and it seems to stay down :o Mashed potatoes & gravy seems to be a new thing too now.
I got a children's size toothbrush and that seems to work better when I'm brushing my teeth. Now if I can only take my pills w/o gagging, I'd be good to go.
Help/Question: Ok, so yesterday I was feeling like my heart was beating outside of my chest. I felt so much anxiety that I was shaking. I actually had to take my shower sitting down. I called the dr and she said that it was my hormones flaring up and sorta worked into the conversation that that is common when it's a girl. Have any of you heard of this?
Telling: We're waiting for Thanksgiving. We'll go to VA and have Niko wear his I'm the Big Brother t-shirt. I also send out a holiday email so we'll be telling everyone else by then. Not living near any family sorta makes it easy to keep it a secret.
Buy Diapers: It is good to buy ahead, but like Orange said, they can outgrow them very quickly. The good thing about Babies R Us, is they'll let you exchange or return even without a receipt. I've done it many times, so you can take em back as long as they're not opened.
Baby Gear: We didn't register for everything they said we needed, cause you really don't need everything. For instance, I registered for receiving blankets. I used them maybe once or twice and now they're just sitting in the drawer. I did use one all the time, but I really didn't need the other 8 I got :rolleyes: Niko loved the swing, bouncer and exersaucer. My friend got me a wipe warmer, it burned & dried out the wipes so that went back.
Like I said, as long as you save the box, you can take it back even w/o the receipt at BRU.
Ok, so now I'm off to hang lights for tonight. I know it's late, but we don't have a light out front so I need to have something so kids know we're candy friendly :D
ladyjg - I hope you get some results soon.
Re: what to buy/register for: I think the best thing to do is ask around. Keep in mind you will get all kinds of answers, but there may be some things that moms consistently love and hate. Most of the stuff on the “recommended” to buy lists are not even needed. They are more for convenience. I already have an idea of what I want based on the size of our house and comments I’ve read from others. Our kitchen isn’t very big so we will use a booster seat instead of a high chair. We will use a packnplay since our house is multi level. I want a bouncer but not a swing.
I called my docs office because I’m being paranoid. I’m convinced my bbs are getting smaller although I have no quantitative results because I have not been measuring them. I’ll be surprised if they call me back. My appt is a week from today and this will be the longest and hardest week for me. DH is in Chicago all week. So I’m left here to worry myself. The docs office called me back and left a message since I forgot to take my cell with me. Anyhow, the nurse said that it isn’t uncommon for symptoms to come and go. She said that it really isn’t an indication that anything is wrong. So, I’ll wait for my appt w/ u/s in one week (7days, 172 hours)
Diaipers – We are cloth diapering and I’ve already started a stash.
Pink Sorry you're feeling so bad, but at least that was reassuring that your baby's doing just fine. Hope you start feeling better soon! (And, that's a cute shirt.)
Rio Very exciting that you got an u/s already. Hopefully you will be hearing the h/b in a couple of weeks.
Baby Lust Good to know everything's going fine with you, although it does stink that you have lack of CC time.
Kaeden's Mommy Now chicken alfredo is sounding really good...
shouldaeloped I can totally relate to only craving junk and trying not to give in.
Dan's Girl Very nice u/s, just look at that bean! :)
lady Very frustrating that they didn't get back to you right away. But, at least the u/s looked good, so hopefully everything is ok. I'm thinking positive thoughts for you!
ShelbyMay Mine lasted a little over 2 weeks, and I got occational twinges for another week or so. Haven't felt anything in a couple of days now.
amurphy Sour altoids, hmmm... I may have to pick some up.
NikosMommy I make something similar to the "hole in one" only I flip it over and cook it on both sides so the egg is well done. Would that still sit ok? I also sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top and it's super yummy.
Baby Stuff I've been reading Baby Bargins and have been liking what it says. It tells you what most people find helpful, what you may find helpful in certain situations, and what for most people is just unneeded. And, it always gives the reasons why they rate it that way, so you can decide if you're totally going to need it anyways. (I hope you could follow that.) It also gives safety tips and lots of websites for shopping and additional information. If you don't want to buy this book, I recommend seeing if your library has it.
-------
Still tired a lot. And, I started getting some neasea this morning. I had to force myself to eat breakfast and a snack. It was the worst on the commute, but at least it's a little better now. And, I had a tough time grocery shopping yesterday, because nothing looked very appealing at all.
Oh, and does anyone know about how much weight pregnant women can lift, and if it matters how far along you are? DH made me promise not to lift a 24-bottle pack of water at the store, and rather than get someone to help me (cause I really don't like doing that) I just bought a 12 pack. But, is that whole lifting weight thing something to really be concerned about? My OB told me it was ok to exercise as long as I don't experience pain or bleeding and I thought carrying stuff would be similiar.
Hi ladies! Another June Mommy here!
Long story short - DH and I have been married (and TTC) for 2 years. Went through about a year of IF treatments (Clomid, injectibles) and testing. In August I got my first BFP. In September at 5w, I found out I had miscarried. We got right back on the wagon and were fortunate to get pg the next cycle. I have been so nervous and I think I'm just starting to feel better about this pregnancy. I've had 3 u/s so far - 2 seeing a h/b - it makes me feel better and better all the time. My hCG levels (yes, I'm still having b/w twice a week till 12 weeks when I 'graduate' from my RE) have been a little weird, but the h/b is the main thing they care about. I'm still on a bunch of meds to prevent m/c and thin my blood for immune issues, but it's looking good. I'm still not sure whether my pregnancy will be considered 'high risk' or not.
So here are my stats ....
CC Name: bottleored
Me: Caroline, 39
DH: Paul, 43
Married: 10.11.03
TTC: 11.03
BFP: 10.03.05
EDD: 6.12.06
Gender Prediction: none yet - just healthy!
Any other children: nope
My appointments are far too many to mention, but when I get on an OB appointment schedule, I'll post those. I do have another u/s on Thursday (one every week).
I look forward to spending the next 9 months with all of you!
telling we haven't told anyone yet. My parents will be this week, my siblings at my nephew's party in 2 weeks. His family sometime after (they are 'older' and I'm not sure how they'd handle a m/c). Friends before Thanksgiving, work after Thanksgiving (12w).
gear secretly hoping I will get lots of hand-me-downs from friends and family. Several have just had their last baby. One thing we will have to invest in is a stroller because everyone keeps that for years.
symptoms mild nausea since 6w. Tried lots of things - eating every 2 hrs or so seems to help. This weekend I tried not drinking when I ate and vice-versa. I think maybe that helped. Afternoons seem to be a little worse.
t-shirts love 'em! I hadn't seen most of those. I was going to get a 'due in June' long sleeve shirt, but it was $44 plus shipping!
Welcome, bottleored!!! Glad to see you over here! :D
As for me, I've been holding back a little waiting to see the heartbeat. My first u/s freaked me out a little, and I've been a little more cautious since then. Hopefully, though, we'll see a nice heartbeat tomorrow morning. At which point, I promise to try to be a more active participant. So we can make this thread move even faster than it does already. :p :D
bunnybeth – I think you would be okay lifting it. I asked my nurse because we were helping some friends move and she told me to just leave the large items (like furniture) to someone else. They are really concerned with you hurting your back. As long as you lift with your legs and not your back you should be okay. As you get further along, your belly will get in the way of lifting things.
Welcome bottleored! Congratulations!
Niko's Mommy ~ I hadn't heard that. Hmmmm, interesting.....
ds2003 ~ I'm sorry that you are worried, but I'm sure everything is fine.
buying diapers ~ We did this with both of my DD's. We did it with diapers and wipes. It was so nice to go for months without having to buy any! We will definately do it again.
Baby Stuff ~ I am so only wanting to get the essentials this time around. I got rid of all the baby stuff from my DD's. I'm not doing a changing table and a lot less toys. I'm really hoping that people don't buy us a lot of stuffed animals. Those, to me, are such a waste and we always got tons of them. I'm also hoping to borrow as much as I can from friends.
Happy Halloween!
Thanks for all the kind words and positive thoughts. Still no word from my dr.'s office. I'm feeling a lot calmer about it all today. Everything just looked so good on that ultrasound with the baby moving around and seeing his/her heart beating. I'd forgotten, but the tech congratulated us several times. I hate to jinx anything, but really think everything's ok. I think those positive thoughts people have been sending us are helping. :)
Welcome bottleored!!
Ladyjg Thinking of you and hoping you get great results!!
NikosMommy I went through something similar at the beginning of this pregnancy...around 6 weeks or so. It went away fairly quickly. I was getting so hot and dizzy I thought I would faint but never did. I always just sat down and tried drinking water. I never felt that way that I remember with DD, so I don't know about it being a girl??
Diapers I bought plenty with DD and used many of them, but I do plan to stock up on sizes I don't have. It's just smart and when I have a newborn AND a 2yr-old, I can imagine I won't be feeling like driving to the grocery store.
Baby Stuff There were very few things I bought that I didn't use, but the BabyBorjn was one of them. DD didn't like it. Otherwise, I didn't get anything outrageous...just a swing, bouncer, p&p...things like that. Two things I LOVED were the Exersaucer and Jumper. Caroline really loved being in the jumper and making all the noise she could.
************************************************** **********
This is weird...morning sickness has JUST NOW set in for me. I'm sick feeling all the time but never get sick. It's hard to eat, and my stomach is constantly upset...probably from lack of food. Everything just looks horrible to me, and the smells are killing me. The good news is that DH thinks it's a boy (and I might, too) bc DD was NOTHING like this!
Me: Nina, 28
DH: Michael, 30
Married: 10-12-02
TTC: for the past 1.5 years
BFP: 10-13-05
EDD: 6-24-05
Gender Prediction: none yet - just happy to be having a baby!
Any other children: none
We have been hoping to conceive for a year-and-a-half now, and ultimately IUI and injectibles did the trick for us. I feel so blessed to have a little one on the way, and in spite of some trepidation over whether or not this is all "real" and if the pregnancy will stick, I'm trying my best to enjoy each moment. I have just been released from my RE's care and will see a regular OB on 11-8.
Congrats and a H&H 9 mos. to all of you!
I'll try to come back soon to catch up on all of the QOTD's.
ffanel - I have my first prenatal with my RE on the 7th. I'm hoping to see the heartbeat and to be released to my OB as well.
Thanks for the warm welcome, DS! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. One more week....
How far along are you? I'm 6.5 weeks right now. Could not believe you can see a heartbeat so early on. Truly miraculous....
telling We told our parents and siblings the day we found out (we took a few hours to revel in the news alone), then a few close friends in the past couple of weeks. We're not sure if we're going to tell the extended family -- grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins -- at Thanksgiving or X-Mas. I'm leaning towards Tgiving; DH towards X-mas. Any opinions? How "safe" are you at 10 weeks versus 12? So hard to hold it in!
symptoms I've been one of the lucky ones. I've only had two very minor nausea spells and hey were short-lived. Mostly I'm just tired, super hungry and bloated. I only have one pair of comfortable jeans left! Yikes...
gears, diapers, etc. I have been guilty of browsing the BRU website, but will not fully succumb until 12 weeks. At that point I plan to buy Baby Bargains and immerse myself in the ins and outs of baby gear. I do know there are some things I plan to forgo, i.e. wipe and bottle warmer., but I want to invest in a good stroller, car seat, etc. I probably won't think diapers until I do some research and maybe I'll pick up some in the 3rd trimester, but want to test them out first before investing in a whole bunch of one brand.
Welcome ffanel!
I saw the heartbeat on US today!! I was a little worried because I had a small amount of bright red spotting on Saturday afternoon--just enough to wipe and then nothing more. So I had bloodwork yesterday (hcg was very good) and went in for an us today. And there was the little heart beating away! My ob said the spotting was probably a "inconsequential subchorionic hemorrage" related to implantation and that she is not concerned about miscarriage at this point (of course never say never but the risk is vastly diminished once the heartbeat is seen). So I am relieved! I never had spotting of ANY kind with my prior two pgs!!
I did get a Rhogam shot though since I am rh negative, just in case there was any mixing of maternal/fetal cells.
Welcome ffanel and bottleored!
lawyerwifemom Congratulations on seeing your h/b!! My Dr.'s office told me that I wouldn't see it until the second appt., but I'm hoping my some fluke that they do it next week at my first appt.
And, I had a tough time grocery shopping yesterday, because nothing looked very appealing at all.
I had the opposite problem. I went grocery shopping and everything looked good to me. Then when I got home, the stuff I bought totally turned me off. :confused:
Welcome, bottleored and ffanel!
And congratulations to lawyerwifemom on seeing the h/b. It must have been amazing!
I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm still feeling like poo. I felt great yesterday until noon and then the upset stomach set in again. I managed to make dinner last night, hand out some candy to the trick-or-treaters, but then fell asleep on the couch at 7:30. DH woke me up at 9, I made our lunches, and then went right to bed. I wish I didn't have to come to work. I feel like I would avoid so much of this m/s if I could sleep longer. Sorry. I'm feeling bad for myself today. :(
Welcome bottleored and ffanel! I can't believe we have even more June mommies!
amurphy, I feel the same way as you, I really think that sleep has a big effect on how I feel. I have noticed on nights when I get a lot of sleep I feel so much better the next day. My nausea and fatigue are noticably worse this pregnancy than my last one and I totally think it is because I am not getting enough sleep. I have a different job and I have to get up a lot earlier for it, plus I have my 2 year old to take care of. Now you're not the only one whining :p
I'm patiently waiting for my appointment next Tuesday. OK, maybe not so patiently, especially as I read long about everyone else getting ultrasounds and seeing their babies' hearts fluttering away. I can definitely feel that my uterus is bigger, but this whole thing is just not seeming real to me yet! I really hope we'll be able to hear the heartbeat. I'll be a couple days short of 10 weeks, so hopefully we will. I had my first appointment about the same time during my last pregnancy and we heard it, but I know that it depends a lot on where the placenta is. I'm a little worried that it is very low near my cervix because I feel a lot of weird pinchy sensations there. Maybe I can get an ultrasound to check it out!
lawyerwifemom ~ Yay for seeing the heartbeat!
amurphy ~ Don't apologize! I think we can all sympathize together.
Orange ~ I really hope you get to hear it. I know with my first DD, my appt was at 9 weeks and we heard the heartbeat. With my 2nd DD, I had a different doctor, my first appt was at 9 weeks and she wouldn't even try to find it! I was so disappointed. My 3 year old and DH were there because we just knew we would hear it because that's when we heard it the first time.
Well, all the diaper talk got me all motivated yesterday. I had to stop at Super Target to pick something up after work for DH and I bought a package of diapers and a package of wipes. Yay, it was so fun!:D
Welcome to bottleored and ffanel!! Holy cow, I can't believe how big our group is!
Had my first appt yesterday afternoon and everything went well. I submitted all of the appropriate bodily fluids ;) , and they said everything looked perfect. Yay! It was a pretty basic appt, but the doctor did a quick pap since I was due for one, and made sure that she took the time to answer any and all questions that DH or I had. She said my uterus was enlarged, and about the right size for someone about 6 weeks along.
My next appt is 11/28 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will get to see and/or hear the heartbeat. She also moved my due date up one day earlier, so my new due date is now 6/24.
Well, ladies....all my knocking on wood didn't help one bit. M/s hit me this weekend (I think I'm maybe 6+ weeks?). Actually, what started it was a really bumpy plane ride, followed by being in the car all weekend. It isn't that bad yet, just a mild sense of upset stomach that seems to be aleviated with gingerale or saltines. I haven't actually gotten sick yet, and I'm hoping that doesn't happen. BUT, I'm nervous because I have to do a TON of flying in the next couple of months. Oy....
Welcome bottleored and ffanel! Hmmm...seems like September was a, uh, romantic month this year!
I have my first OB appointment tomorrow!!! Just a sonogram, not sure what you can tell by that? Does anyone know what the difference is between a sonogram and an ultrasound?
Okay, here's a QOTD: Did your ob give you a prescription for prenatal vitamins or just tell you to buy the ones that are over the counter?
Mine told me just to buy the ones that you can get over the counter. She said that they are pretty much the same as the prescription vitamins.
ETA: She gave me some free samples of prescription vitamins, but then just told me to buy the over the counter when I was finished with them.
M/S has kicked in full-force today. I didn't think I was ever going to make it out of bed and into the office. On top of that, I have a horrible cold that is making it impossible to breathe! I think I'll take the afternoon off so I can go home and sleep.
QOTD: I'm just taking OTC prenatals.
QOTD – I’ve been taking Target OTC prenatal vitamins for over a year. When the nurse called to confirm I was pregnant she asked me if I was taking a prenatal vitamin. I told her yes and that was it. The only difference that I know between OTC and RX prenatals is that RX prenatal can have 1000mcg of folic acid and OTC can only have as much as 800mcg. My pharmacist told me this.
Okay, my pants were snug yesterday and today. I may need to get some transition pants after we see the heartbeat on Monday.
gina73
11-01-2005, 09:36 AM
QOTD - my doctor gave me a prescription for prenatals when I went in for my preconception visit, so that's what I'm currently taking.
ds2003 - thanks for the clarification! Oh, and my pants are fitting a little bit snug too...I think for me though, it's probably from all of the gingerale I've been drinking (empty calories), and not eating as many veggies and fruit (just doesn't sound good).
ds2003
11-01-2005, 09:53 AM
Gina – there could be others differences but the folic acid is the only one I know. OTC vitamins are much cheaper.
I’m hoping that increased circumference in my waist is due to a growing uterus. I haven’t gained any weight and there was no reason for me to be bloated yesterday or this morning. I’ve had 2 bags of salt and vinegar chips since this morning so if things get tighter this afternoon I will know why.
Welcome and congrats bottleored and ffanel!
ds2003 Thanks, that was what I was thinking.
ladyjg Hope everything's going well... more positive thoughts for you!
lawyerwifemom Congrats on seeing the h/b, very exciting. And, it's nice to know that your spotting isn't anything to be concerned about.
QOTD: prenatals Mine said the OTC generics were just fine, but when I'm running out, come in for some free samples of prescription ones.
-------
Feeling ok today. Some mild neasea off and on (mostly during my commute- dang, my body hates my commute!) but nothing compared to most of you ladies. My mom said she never had m/s so I'm hoping (knock on wood) it won't get much worse than this.
And, this is bizarre, but my work pants feel *looser* on me today. I haven't lost any weight (actually, I'm up a pound from my pre-conception appt in September) so maybe I just had some slight bloating before that I didn't really notice, and now it's gone? Well, it can't last for much longer, so I'll just enjoy it for today.
QOTD: Did your ob give you a prescription for prenatal vitamins or just tell you to buy the ones that are over the counter?
I was given 2 weeks worth of samples and a prescription to fill if I liked them, but with my horrible m/s I wasn't able to take them so the Dr. gave me a script for folic acid instead. Much smaller and easier to take.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! I have to admit that I remain a little tiny bit worried, but I know there isn't much of anything I can do so I will just hope that it really was nothing.
QOTD: I take Sam's Club OTC prenatals and have been for several years now (pg, nursing, pg, nursing, now pg again! with no breaks inbetween since I nursed during pg both times!) I also try to eat a breakfast cereal or oatmeal every day that is fortified with folic acid.
One good thing about prescrip vs OTC is that prescrip often has a stool softener that is helpful for some women. I was VERY constipated with my first pg,( but not the 2nd or this one so far) and that metamucil stuff is disgusting!! Also, some OTC may be less bioavailable (less vitamin is available for use by the body even though the amounts listed are the same) so you may want to ask your OB if the OTC you are using is a decent one.
lawyerwifemom congrats on seeing the H/B. Isn't it such a relief?
orange good luck with your test tuesday!
lilla were you formerly on weddingchannel? i recall a lilla there that got married around the same time as me. I was dutchsctybride a few years back (three to be exact!). just curious..
gina73 september was amorous indeed! too funny!
bunnybeth I'm also a commuter. I commute an hour and a half each way, by train, to NYC. Feel your pain.. :(
Lately I notice I am RAVENOUS! I can just eat...and eat...and eat. Anyone else there with me?
Pants are also getting snug. Gee, I wonder why! I really need to do some shopping to get some pants one size bigger and some longer sweaters. I'm hoping to hide my PG from work until early January if I can, after holiday bonuses are given out.
QOTD I'm on Stuart Prenatals - Duo, I belive it's called. They're prescription, and it's a pill with all the usual vitamins and minerals, plus a gel capsulewith DHA/Omega 3's. So far I'm tolerating them well, minus a fish-like taste in my mouth sometimes (yuck), so I plan to stick with it. Is it much more affordable to go the OTC route?
A question How long are all of you waiting to tell work (if you're employed outside the home)?
Hi ladies,
Just catching up on a few QOTD's:
Telling: We promised to tell only my best friend, but I've slipped and have told a few others. I was worried DH would be mad, but he wasn't. We will likely tell our family on Thanksgiving, assuming I can keep it in that long.
We went to dinner with DH's best friend and wife this past weekend. They have a DD who just turned one. They kept asking when we were going to start a family, etc. DH and I just smiled and said, "We're thinking about it." ;)
Symptoms: Still no m/s but then again, I just reached the 6 wk mark. My bbs were very sore yesterday and continue to be sore today. They are definitely more sore than ever before. The one consistent symptom is that I am very tired by the end of the day. I can barely keep my eyes open beyond 8:30pm... poor DH.
Maternity Clothes: My pants are a bit snug, but I have a feeling that has more to do with the crap I've been eating, and not the little bean inside. I did buy 2 pairs of pants on-line at Target but they haven't arrived yet. They were only $5 each, so I couldn't pass them up. I also ran into Motherhood over the weekend, just to check things out. I tried on a few pairs of pants which looked awful on me. I think I may just end up buying a few pairs of regular pants, but one size up, and hold off on the maternity clothes until I really need them.
Baby Gear: I haven't really looked for anything yet. I think I want to wait for my 1st u/s and OB appointment to make sure things are okay before I take the plunge and go full force into baby buying mode ;)
OTC Prenatals: I've been taking Target's prenatals for over a year. I haven't had my first OB appointment yet so I will wait and see what she says.
I am really excited about tomorrow. We have our u/s appointment. I am very anxious and can't wait. I am a bit nervous but am hoping and praying that everything is coming along as it should.
Happy day,
steviem
QOTD: My doc has me on prescription pre-natals. He gave me a few weeks of samples. But the next time I saw him, he handed me a prescription (instead of more samples). :( That's a big drag because my copay on them was $43 for ONE MONTH. I think I'll ask to switch if he doesn't have more samples.
ffanel - If you take your vitamin at night before you go to bed, you won't have the fishy after taste. Just fyi!
Unfortunately, things aren't looking too good for this pregnancy. I went in for the ultrasound yesterday and I measured 6 weeks 1 day. She said everything looked perfect for a baby, that age...unfortunately, I was 7 weeks 1 day...I had been charting, so I am confident on when I conceived. I went in for a blood test today and will go for a second one on Thursday. I have not had any cramping or spotting, so this has been a total shock to me. The doctor hasn't totally given up hope, that this will be a successfull pregnancy.
I have a few questions I forgot to mention in my earlier post:
Has anyone experienced "cold" hands? Ever since my BFP, my hands are always freezing... I mean, really, really cold! It's crazy.
Also, has anyone had a bad taste in their mouth? I've heard that many women get a metal taste. My taste is not metal, it's just yucky. I feel like I have to brush my teeth all day long.
Anyway, just wondering if I am the only one experiencing these symptoms.
TIA! :D
Callalilly I charted, too, along with an hCG trigger, so I know w/in 2 days when I conceived. At what should have been 6w4d, my baby measured 5w6d (5 days difference). I was a little panicked. The next u/s I should have been 7w3d and I measured 7w5d! So, would you believe 13 days of growth in 6 days? Measurements so early are accurate within a week (or 2, depending on who you ask).
Did you see a heartbeat? Apparently, that is much more telling. My hCG only went from 36,000 to 39,000 after 3 days and I freaked. My RE wasn't worried because we had seen a h/b. Baby is fine.
Thinking of you ....
Calla Lilly - Keeping you and your baby in my thoughts and prayers.
I should've posted earlier today, but a nurse finally called me this morning to say that everything looks "great" with the baby. As much as I was expecting good news, it was still a huge relief. We're almost to the 10 week mark, and I can hardly believe that. As slowly as time seems to be going by, it still amazes me that it's been almost 1.5 months since we got the BFP. :) There's an end in sight to the first trimester!
More big thanks to all of you who have posted your support. You are all wonderful!
QOTD I've been taking prescription chewable prenatals. I was sad to give up my Flintstones vitamins ;), but I'll do what I have to for the baby. The copay on a one-month supply of the vitamins is $1.75. When DH came home from picking them up and told me that I couldn't believe it.
Someday soon I'll get back over here to do proper shoutouts.
Calla I'm praying that everything turns out fine.
Telling work I already did. I'm considering meeting with my boss to see if there is any way to go from a full-time to a part-time employee after the baby is born and maybe working four days a week for five hours or so at a time. That might be easier than working 40+ hours a week with a commute. We'll see.
Prenatals I've been taking OTC K-mart brand. They have 800mcg of folic acid in it and that is what my doc told me at my pre-conception appt earlier this year so I figured that would be good.
My first appointment is tomorrow. I woke up this morning feeling like I had reached a milestone making it to six weeks with no problems, but when I got to work I started worrying that I won't get good news at the appointment tomorrow and I had a breakdown at my desk. One of my coworkers talked with me for a while and she was so sweet and really calmed me down, as did one of my friends that I emailed so I'm doing a bit better, but still worried. Does anyone know how common it is to have an early u/s done if you've never been pregnant before and have never experienced complications getting pregnant?
Calla Lilly ~ Sorry you're having to worry. At my u/s today the PA mentioned that often times the baby isn't stretched out so the measurements are a little off. If the h/b is strong things are going well for you. I'll keep you in my prayers.
steviem ~ My hands are cold in the mornings when I'm at work. No funny taste in my mouth though.
Pink ~ How's the m/s and vomiting?
Hello to everyone else. I've got to get to updates before DS wakes so I'm keeping this short and sweet.
I had my u/s and appointment with the PA this afternoon. I've lost a pound since last Monday which isn't bad considering that I've been pretty sick. The u/s was great and we got to see the heart beating away. She was having problems with the u/s machine and couldn't get a measurement but I'm definitely on target for my due date. We're basing it off my O date so my new due date is June 10. My next appointment will be 11/28 with my regular OB.
My pants are still fitting okay. I'm definitely starting to grow, but I carry so high that it doesn't affect my pants since I wear low-rise pants most of the time. Anyway, I'm gonna run so I can get this thread updated!
Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. No, they didn't see a heartbeat, which I think would be pretty common for 6 weeks 1 day...but since I am a week past that I think it is probably a pretty bad sign.
Calla ~ Thinking sticky baby thoughts for you....
Telling work ~ Well, I'm going back and forth on this. I am going to Las Vegas the 5th, 6th of December with one of my bosses and another girl. So, I feel like I should say something. But, our raises are given at the end of the year, so I kind of want to wait until those are given out. (You just never know if pg will affect something like that.) However, since this is my third, I don't know if I can hide it that long.
I have bought no maternity clothes yet. I probably will before too long.
Mystikal ~ I agree that it varies by practice. I wouldn't have received an early sonogram if I hadn't had m/c's in the past. I would definately ask for one and see what happens!
I know I'm a bad pg mommy, but they literally make me vomit :( The nurse told me to take 2 Flintstones chewables but those aren't that great either on the stomach. I am taking my baby aspirin and folic acid so I am getting something in my system.
Cold Hands/Feet: My feet are freezing. My hands are way to warm.
Taste in Mouth: It is there all the time. I try to ignore it but it's still there. Sucking on peppermints helps both the taste and the upset stomach. Now if only I had some left :/
Symptoms: Sick to my stomach most of the day. Not sure about the pants, I don't wear jeans, I live in workout wear :/ One minute my boobs will be fine, the next they are in pain, but ALWAYS hurt when Niko leans on them. I've been pretty ok with not needing a nap during the day, however by 7 p.m. I can't stop yawning. I go to bed and lay awake until 10 or 11 :/
Weight: I was down 4 pounds from pre-pg to the first visit with the nurse last week. With Niko I lost 15 pounds the first tri and was only 2 pounds heavier when I delivered than my pre-pg weight.
QOTD for those of you w/young kids: How do you handle the poopie diapers? I usually gag everytime I have to change one, and a few times I've had to put Niko down w/poopie on his butt while I go vomit :/ What do you do?
~~~~~~~~~~~~

After calling what seems like 100 times, I finally got my level 2 US appt for Jan 9th. I was hoping to have it before Christmas so we could tell everyone what we're having, but they didn't have any openings. I'm going to ask the dr to go for a regular one to hopefully see so we can tell.
Other than that, nothing new, just trying to keep whatever I can down.

HAVE A GREAT DAY LADIES :D

It's slow in here today! Just wanted to let you know I had my first appointment this morning. No u/s, they won't do one until 20 weeks-sometimes the beginning of February, so that kind of sucks. I am going next week for bloodwork so that I can get my thyroid tested too and it won't be considered a pre-existing condition as our insurance doesn't kick in until Saturday. I love my doctor. She's great and really put me at ease. She used the pgcy wheel and went by my LMP to figure my due date even though I told her when I O'ed, so according to her I'm due June 24, but I'm sticking with my original date. ;)

My next doctor appointment is Dec. 12 with the OB. We should be able to hear the heartbeat by then!

Me: April, 21
DH: Shannon, 25
Married: July 2, 2005
TTC: First Month!
EDD: June 27th
Gender Prediction: Don't know and don't care. I just want a healthy baby!
Any other children: No

I guess I am ready to join. I am a little scared since I have mc'd before, but I had my first dose of morning sickness which I had never had before. I am hoping that is a sign.
I have not seen a dr yet. I had a horrible experience with my last dr. and I am still researching into a new OBGYN.
I have the nurses line and I figure that I overly stressed myself out last time and I don't want to make that same mistake. I want positive vibes and a calm relaxing home for my baby to grow in.

I am so excited to be in such a great community and I look forward to sharing with everyone.

ffanel Dang, that's a lot of time to go to work! Mine is closer to an hour usually, and in a car, but still not too fun. My friend uses the bus sometimes and she said that was terrible when she had m/s, so at least I don't do that.

Calla Lilly I really hope everything turns out ok! I'm praying for you and sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

steviem Sometimes I get really cold hands, more often than usual.

ladyjg Glad to hear it!

Pink Hopefully your m/s will disappear in less than 6 weeks... you can always hope!

Mystikal That's too bad your doctor doesn't do u/s earlier. But, at least you have the heartbeat to look forward to now!

Welcome and congrats Lil_Mrs_0702! Hope everything is happy and healthy for you!

Telling Work I'm going to wait until the 2nd trimester, early December. It won't affect my work at all (lots of preg women in our department at all times, it seems) so that's just when we're waiting to tell everyone.

Symptoms Ok, I admit it, I have m/s now. Not just a random day or 2 of icky feeling. So far, it's not too bad, but it is fairly consistent. I'm finding I can eat, but I don't really want to. But, I did sip on a ginger ale all morning, and am feeling... ok-ish now. Last night I felt like crap though, and ended up taking a 2 hour nap right after dinner. Ah well.

First u/s will be on November 21!

lil_mrs. . glad to see you over here! and welcome to the group!

I have a TMI question. . is anyone else overly. . . umm. . juicy? it's driving me nuts! half the time I'm worried that it's a sign AF is coming and half the time I'm just plain annoyed by it. so i thought I would see if anyone else is having this issue. misery loves company.

oh. . and m/s has been around for a while. . more nausea than anything else but it makes it very difficult to function. might be a side effect from the progesterone I'm taking but wow. . can it knock you on your ass. I feel really bad for all you vomiters out there and hope it goes away soon.

I first have to say that this thread moves so QUICKLY that I can't possibly keep up with all the replies. Although I do read everyday, I haven't been feeling well enough to post everyday.

So...

WELCOME to the new members, glad to have you join us and a very Happy, Healthy and M/S Free PG to you.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who is doing well, having excellent Dr.'s appointments and getting to see little Beans and Heartbeats on Ultrasounds. I can't wait to be in you place.

Replies...trying anyways!

Telling Work ~ I got a promotion at work about 2 months ago and am finally starting to transition to the new position (lot's of hold ups) and now I have to tell my boss (whom I really like and respect) that his complete team that he's worked for a year to assemble is going to be one less in six months.

Yikes...not something I'm looking forward to. I've booked a meeting with him for the day after my ultrasound. I want to ensure that there is a baby in there with a H/B before I rock the boat (still having a hard time believing I'm really PG.)

Symptoms ~ I am having lot's of symptoms, which is why it's so weird that I'm having a hard time believing there's a baby in there. I am starting to not be as Exhausted and feel like I can actually get some things done after work (like laundry, cooking, dishes, cleaning, etc.) My nauseau isn't as bad as it was and isn't daily now. There are some days I feel great, other days that I feel like a bag of poo.

My emotions are way out of control. I find I've started 'spontaneous sobbing' at the drop of a hat. Could come from a commercial on TV, to looking at the kids in Halloween costumes...and I'm reduced to a puddle of tears. Terrible!

My boobs are still very sore and my nipples have darkened and enlarged. I can no longer suck in my belly and am starting to notice it rounding out. Luckily, I can still wear *most* of my normal clothes and am not quite ready to make a move to maternity stuff yet, soon, but not yet.

Gear ~ We have not bought a single thing for this baby and will not buy a single thing until I see a H/B on the U/S.

I think I'm a little superstitious about it, but until I know for sure and see with my own eyes I'm being cautiously optimistic.

Although, I did tell my sister I was PG last weekend (was worried about telling her, as she suffered a M/C in June and we are highly competitive) but she's thrilled for us. She is going to give us all the things she used for my nephew (who just turned two) including a Crib, change table, stoller, car seat, pac 'n play, two bouncy chairs, high chair, slings, clothes, toys, etc. She is putting it all together for me now and will bring it down (she lives about 3 hrs. away) in a couple of weeks. So it's wonderful...and means that I will definitely be getting the glider and ottoman that I've been dreaming about as a gift for Christmas (mom was going to buy the crib, but now doesn't have to, so the glider it is.)

Vitamins ~ I'm taking an OTC generic brand. From what I've been told, they have all the necessary ingredients and are identical formulation to something like Materna. I didn't even know you could get Prescription prenatal vitamins...you learn something everyday. Although I have to say that the stool softener sounds like a bonus, something I could use right now.

Weight ~ I reluctantly stepped on the scales on the weekend and was identical to what I was when I got my BFP. I started on the heavy side, so hoping not to gain too much during my pg.

I think that's about it for me for now. Hopefully I will continue to feel better as I reach the end of my first Trimester, that's what I'm holding on to now. Hopefully I can start to post more often and keep up with replies and QOTD.

Hi ladies!

We finally told my parents last night. They have 8 grandchildren already and my mom buys each grandchild a Christmas stocking with their name on it (they have now taken over the mantle, by the way ...). I noticed that she had gotten one for my nephew who was born in April. So after dinner, I said "I see you got a stocking for <nephew> already" we laughed and then I asked her if she got a frequent shopper discount on the stockings. She went on to say something else and I said "Cause you're going to have to get another one next summer". It took her a minute and then, I swear, it looked like someone was shocking her in her chair. She was just screaming - it was so funny. They were both so happy. BTW - I'm the only daughter. DH was so excited to have told someone. When I was unsure of my hCG levels a week ago, he said we shouldn't tell people till we were 100%. I said 'well, that means when the baby is born'. It does make it seem a little more real.

symptoms still a bit nauseous, at its worst after dinner. Better during the day, though. A lot of burping as well!

weight I'm carrying around a 'few' extra pounds, so I don't think I'll be noticing much difference except some of the clothes that were already a little snug are uncomfortable because I'm nauseous.

vitamins OTC women's multi plus folic acid. I have to ask my dr about Iron - I think I should be taking extra?

shouldaeloped yes, juicy! I, too am paranoid that it's spotting/bleeding. It's driving me crazy.

Congrats lil mrs and ffanel!

ffanel you said you were dutchsctybride on the WC - are you from Dutchess County? Living there now? I'm in Putnam County!

mystikal great to hear about your appointment. I decided if anyone asked when my LMP was, I would tell them 2 weeks before I O'ed, since that's probably what those wheels figure. Yes, I would lie ;) I'm hoping since I will be getting u/s through the 12th week that by the time I get to the OB, she will just take their word for it for a due date.

pink glad you're feeling better!

calla did you get your b/w results back? Thinking of you and knowing how difficult it is at a time like this {{HUGS}}

rio and gina73 hope you're feeling better!

Thanks again for all of the kind thoughts....

I think I am even more confused today. I called the doctor's office to see if they had the Betas back. She said mine from yesterday was 26000, she also confirmed that the ultrasound showed there was an actual embryo in the sac. I know that my Beta results on Friday are more important, but she thought everything looked promising based on the first number. She also said at this stage if there is more fluid around the embryo, it is harder to see and that could have played a factor in the size. I go in for a second ultrasound on Monday and will hopefully see growth and the heartbeating then.

Nikosmommy-did Niko measure small this early in your pregnancy?

Bottleored-didn't you have a somewhat similiar experience with the ultrasound?

Anyway, after speaking to the nurse today I feel a lot more positive about the situation.

calla lilly- I am so glad to hear everything looks promising! please keep us posted.

is anyone still crampy? I am having what feels like a burning sensation along with dull cramps. I am definitely hypersensitive and it's quite possible it's gas or something but I know that I am still having some cramping. anyone?

not sure what's up with all my questions today. . . .

Niko&Troi
11-02-2005, 01:30 PM
Calla They didn't start really measuing him until I was 9 weeks and they said he was 7. I swore they were wrong, and the dr said they may be a problem but I didn't give up hope, I had come too far to have him. If I remember, he measured smaller until my level 2 where he was only a few days behind and then he caught up. He was 7 lbs 6.5 oz, 20" at birth. Not a tiny baby.
The extra fluid may also be a factor as to why you couldn't see the heartbeat.
I know it's hard, but please try to stay positive. You don't want to add stress to yourself right now, it affects the baby too.

bottleored
11-02-2005, 01:58 PM
Calla Lilly Yes, I did have a similar experience. Baby measured
5w6d at 6w4d (5 days behind my calculations)
7w5d at 7w3d (2 days ahead of my calculations)

So the first measurement was small (and I was a little freaked). But the measurement was like 2.5 which is about 1/10", so I'm sure there's room for error, especially since they measure with a mouse and cursor!

My next blood draw wasn't good either. My hCG only went from 36,000 to 39,000 after 3 days (obviously not doubling, even in 7 days!). I freaked because the PA said the dr might want me to have another blood draw because he never makes a call from just one draw. Then she called back and said just to keep the appt I had 2 days later. The longest 2 days of my life. I'm learning not to think the worst - but it is taking time!

At the hCG level you are at (anything over 6,000), it should be doubling but not necessarily every 48-72 hours everyone talks about in the first week or so. Rising is good. Heartbeat is good. Numbers seem to be panic-inducing (levels, measurements)

HTH!

Telling Work ~ I am a receptionist and I have 2 girls that cover the phones for me. I called one to cover the phones and the other girl happened to go in the restroom right as I was finishing up. I went ahead and told her and she was great. The two of them are going to cover for me.
I also told my boss yesterday so that I can go ahead and start making dr appointments and such. She is great and gave me a big hug. She is also checking in on me and offering to lift stuff. After I told her she was asking about when she can throw me a party/ shower.
I think my husband is going to tell his supervisor today so that he can try going to the appointments w/ me. (BTW... I work with my husband)
We are waiting until after the first trimester to tell everyone else.
Symptoms ~ I am experiencing some nausea, I just keep having that gag reflex. I need to get some mints or gum to keep the taste out. To try to avoid the nausea, I am just eating little bits all day. I bought a 2 pack of Peanut Butter Cookies to snack on through out the morning.
My biggest symptom is my bbs!! They just seems so huge and heavy to me. I feel like I grew an entire cup size over night. DH is loving them though!:p

Gear ~ We went baby overboard during my last pregnancy, and we went ahead and kept it all. So we have pooh bear crib bedding, a pack'n'play, some diapers, diaper bag, high chair, portable toddler stroller, some spiderman and mickey toys. As I said we went overboard last time in the 1st trimester. I don't think we will need to buy much until the baby after the baby shower.

Vitamins ~ I am taking over the counter prenatals. Last time the dr. told me that those were just as good as the prescription ones.

Weight ~ Not paying too much attention. It always fluctuates anyways.
~~~~
So I set up my first dr appointment. I talked to one of the girls that covers the phones for me and I am set up for November 17 at 1:20. It is right after their lunch hour, so I was told there won't be any lobby wait time unless the dr gets back a couple minutes late. They seem to be really understanding about my work schedule and making sure that I wont be wasting my day in the waiting room. (I hated that about my last office. I was lucky to get in w/i an hour of my appointment time.)
Well, looks like I've got another three weeks of lurking ahead of me. We had our u/s yesterday and we saw not one but two heartbeats. Identical twins! :eek: :eek: :eek:
The bad news is that it's too early to see if there's a partition between them. If there's not, well, I'll be lucky to be a May mama, let alone a June one. It would be a rather terrifying diagnosis. So I have a follow-up with a high risk doc in three weeks. Until then, I'll just be following along but probably not saying much.
Hope all those who are sick get to feeling better soon!
ds2003
Calla - Glad to see things are looking good.
Jad - Why are identical twins in the same sac at a higher risk then if there is a partition?
jbenny75
11-02-2005, 04:53 PM
Has anyone else had any worries about how your relationship with your DH will change? My DH is really queasy about "feminine" type things, and he got a little freaky last week when I had him poke my belly to feel how hard it had gotten. It scares me because my body will be changing so much, will he still see me the same way? Will he still see me the same way after watching me go through labor? Will I be only the baby's mother and not sexy anymore? Are there any mommies who are on a second or third baby that have advice for us first-timers?
kmmommy
11-02-2005, 06:00 PM
Jad ~ Congrats on twins! Sending partition vibes your way!
jbenny ~ Your DH will probably get more into the pregnancy thing as it progresses. It may help to get him a book so he can be on the same page as you and also realize that you can still have sex, etc. My DH was a bit worried about that last time around, but is definitely more comfortable this time. If he stays nervous just do your best to keep him informed and comfortable with what's going on. He will still find you sexy because being the mother of his child is a beautiful and sexy thing.
Jad
11-03-2005, 05:04 AM
ds2003 - If there's no membrane between them, there's almost sure to be cord entanglement which, if it's serious enough, can kill both babies. It would almost surely mean a long hospital stay starting between 24 and 28 weeks, a premature delivery and a NICU stay for the kids. So I'm taking all the partition vibes I can get! (Thanks Kaeden's Mommy!)
sunshine - Yikes about the triplets dream! Twins is scary enough! Although I think I would be alot more excited about them if my RE hadn't been so pessimistic when he told us the news. He couldn't stop saying how "bad" it is. Seems like a wonderful miracle to me!
Jad, Here are some more partition vibes. I’m sorry your RE was so pessimistic.
I’m doing well. I’m still having allergy/cold symptoms…sneezing, runny nose and nasal congestion. The itchy eyes have cleared up for now. It has got to be the hormones. I read that this doesn’t usually start until the third month and I’m only 7w1d. My u/s is on Monday and it can not get hear fast enough.
Hi girls!
Well we just got back from our trip to Florida… so that is why I have been MIA…. I missed a lot here.. so I am going to TRY to get everyone.
BUNNY: I am with you… I am not sick per se BUT I do not want to eat and when that happens I get so hungary I feel sick.. so I eat and I still feel sick. Nothing appeals to me. I think I read someone say in here… to eat hard boiled eggs (or maybe that was another thread) well I did that last night and they were so good…..
WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES
Shouldaeloped: I am with you… I find I have a TON of CM. My dr. told DH & I not to BD until my appt next week.. just to be safe w/ some of the issues I am having. So now I have all this CM and not sure what the heck is going on…
TELLING WORK: I am sure I will wait until Christmas to tell them.
VITAMINS: I must call the dr. because mine are terrible. I have tried 2 kinds: Prenate and something else w/ fish oil…. utterly nasty. In fact so terrible that I have not been taking them everyday… I either feel ill or EXTREMELY gassy. So I am calling her today… last night I woke up at 1:30 and just layed there because my stomach was so upset.
WEIGHT: I refuse to get on the scale unless I have too… I usually go by my clothes and how they feel. I am definitely still bloated, bbs are busting out of my blouses…(I was small to begin w/ so I am having a hard time adjusting to these new melons… Dh is so excitied that is he constantly asking “Can I see the pumpkins or if you want I can hold them for awhile…” ugh.. men….
Bottleored: Are you from NY? I see you said you are from PutnamCounty? I live in Dutchess as well and I grew up in Ulster County….
FFanel: I am asking the same question as Bottleored… are you from Dutchess county?
Calla: thinking happy thoughts for you!
Gear: Well I must say I am superstitious and although I look I have not bought a thing and I think if I do I will leave it at my moms house. I am sure we will start to get the room together after the holidays but I am not so sure how much of the stuff I will be bringing in. A good friend of mine lost her baby the day it was due.. and all I could imagine was taking everything apart… so for me .. I think I will be waiting a bit.
JAD: Twins… how wonderful.. well sending happy thoughts your way… do they run in your family?
Update: We told our parents this weekend w/ the fortune cookie idea… and it was great they all were stunned. I wish I had a camera.. it was so perfect. Bottleored, like you I have 8 nieces and nephews and I am the youngest and the only girl. So my parents and in laws were just thrilled.
DH & I are telling are brothers and their wives around Thanksgiving… we have a yellow Lab and I was thinking of buying her a T-shirt that says “I am going to be a big sister” and let her walk around the house that day and everyone will read it… 
AMURPHY: You still working out????? I have been trying my best!
good morning, everyone! it's almost 10:20 and I'm still feeling pretty good. i hope i can keep it up for the rest of the day. i'm certainly not 100% but i'm feeling much better now than i felt yesterday. i bought sea bands last night. i'm not sure if they work, but it is worth trying!
shouldaeloped: Um, yes. Juicy is a good description. Thank you for being so willing to throw that detail out for discussion. It's nice to know it is a common symptom.
Jad: Congratulations on the twins! Sending you positive vibes for a healthy pregnancy and happy babies!
mystical: Glad your appointment went well. I'm scheduled for my first appointment tomorrow.
jbenny: I'm sure you DH just needs time to relax and feel more comfortable with the changes you are going through. I imagine he is just a little scared--doesn't want to to anything that might hurt you and the baby. I agree 100% with kaeden's mommy.
calla: It has to be difficult to get accurate measurements at this point. The baby is so tiny. Please keep thinking positively. I'm be thinking about you and praying for the best!
Ryan: I haven't gone to the gym at all this week. I really should but I've been feeling so crappy. I may try to drag myself there today if I have time (and if I'm still feeling good). I've got a couple of publications on deadline so not sure if I can get out of the office. :(
I'm such a drag lately. I feel so badly for my poor DH. All I do is sleep and moan about my upset belly. He is being wonderful and patient, but I think he really is starting to believe his jokes about me "using him" for a baby! :rolleyes: (Not really. But I could understand him feeling that way!)
Hello All :D
Jad YEAH ON TWINS :D Sending more partition vibes your way. Don't let your RE get to you. How exciting we have twins in our thread.
And they are a miracle and you should enjoy this time. Your RE has pi&&ed me off :mad: How dare he take away this special time for you. Sorry for the vent it just makes me mad that he would do that to you. I know he wants to prepare you, but with the way science is now they'll be fine even if they are in the same sac.
JBenny DH wasn't with Niko and still isn't the type to touch my belly or talk to it or anything like that. I literally had to put his hand on my belly when Niko either had the hiccups or moved/kicked. Even though he wasn't that much into the pg part, he never changed his feelings/views of me. I think it's something that they (men) realize that there is a life inside of you that you both created that they love you just as much, maybe even more. Does that make sense?
Now sex was a little weird while I was pg, but that was both of us. He didn't want to hurt the baby and I just felt weird. However, after the first couple of times, it was ok. After was weird too at first, but that too got back to normal.
I made Brian be in the delivery room with me. There was no way he was getting out of it. When it came to the actual part of Niko coming out, he sat down and didn't look :rolleyes: Afterwards I guess he forgot about it - HTH :/
Ryan I was wondering how the fortune cookie thing went. That is definately a unique way of telling.
Sunshine Twins/triplets :eek: Holey moley batman :eek:
amurphy I had posted this earlier in the thread, but Brian used to say, "you've only been pg for 5 minutes" when I complained about something. That drove me insane and I told him. He eventually stopped cause I was getting livid over it. I still say, if men had to be pg, we'd never have kids!!
New QOTD: Are you getting tired/out of breath more easily from things that never did before?
Our washer/dryer is in the basement. This morning I gathered up the clothes, took them down, took a load out of the dryer, took the clothes out of the washer & put them in the dryer, started another load and came upstairs with the dry clothes. When I got up here, my heart was pounding and I had to sit, I was exhausted. Has this happened to you?
~~~~~~~~~

Nothing new here. Just trying my hardest to keep whatever I can down. I've found a new "love", peaches in sauce. The nurse told me about them, and they seem to work, let's see for how long :/

(My mom was pregnant in the days without technology, and they didn't know they were having two babies until 2 days before I was born...) sending you fantastic partition vibes!

jbenny - I think it's actually more of an issue for ME, as in, I don't feel sexy or attractive, just kind of soft and out of shape. DH however loves all the changes that are going on and seems to want to grab at me all the time. He's kind of squeamish when it comes to Girl Stuff too, but somehow this seems different.

I had my first OB appointment yesterday! DH came with me, and the first thing they did was an ultrasound. Now, I wasn’t expecting to see much, but boy was I wrong! First, she assessed that I was 6w4d pregnant, with a due date of June 24, 2006, which is only 2 days off from what we thought. And then, she showed us our little peanut - no one minds if I show off a bit?

Peanut’s first photo:
http://images.snapfish.com/3454272%3B23232%7Ffp7%3Enu%3D3238%3E%3B%3B%3B%3E94 9%3EWSNRCG%3D3232%3C%3A3%3B%3B76%3A%3Cnu0mrj

It was amazing! She said “See that little blinking thing? That’s the heartbeat” and Jon and I just sat there with these enormous grins on our faces, unable to breathe. Then she told me to sit still for a second, turned up the sound, and we got to actually HEAR the heartbeat. Totally incredible. Unlike anything I’d experienced before, and it made this whole thing feel so REAL.

bottleored Very cute how you told your parents. I bet they are excited! I almost lied about my LMP date as well... very tempting. But, mine was only 2 days off for the O date, so I figured it didn't matter much.

Calla I'm glad to hear it's still looking positive. :)

shouldaeloped Not the dull, achy, most of the time, every single day cramps anymore. But, I do occationally get sharper, crampy pains for maybe a minute or so.

Jad Wow, twins! Hope everything goes well for you and both little ones! :) Our bodies may be more built for singles than multiple births, but I don't see how twins is a "bad" thing in itself. :p

Ryan Good tip, and I love hard-boiled eggs anyways. Yesterday I sipped ginger ale throughout the morning, and that really helped, I actually craved and loved eating my dinner! Oh, and I took a belly shot at 5 weeks! LOL Basically it is just going to be a comparison shot for when I have "real" belly shots.

Gina Lovely peanut photo! Very exciting stuff :)

--------

Still not really wanting to eat anything. Except occational junk food. I'm so bad. I couldn't bring myself to eat a yogurt for snack, and broke down and bought pickle-flavored chips. Ah well. But, yesterday I had a real craving for a Chipolte fajita burrito. So, I bought one on the way home from work and it was so yummy.

Calla Lilly: Your news sounds promising. I will continue to think sticky thoughts for you :)

Jad: Congrats on the twins! How exciting :p

Gina73: Your little bean is too cute! We got to see ours for the first time last night as well.

The ultrasound appointment went well. At first, she attempted to do the old fashioned ultrasound (through the belly) but because I am only 6w3d, she had to the "other" kind. DH freaked a bit when he saw the condom they put on the wand. Fun stuff :eek:

We saw the heartbeat but she couldn't measure the count. She said it was too early, but it was fluttering very quickly. According the the technician, I am measuring 6w3d as of yesterday, and my calculations say 6w4d so not too far off. They gave me a due date of June 26th, but I am keeping my original date of June 24th for now.

Overall, it was an amazing experience. It felt good to finally see that there really is something inside of me. Of course, it feels more "real" now which also makes me worry more that anything can go wrong at any time.

I can't wait for the next u/s. The technician said that if the pregnancy is normal, that, I will only have 2 more... one at 12 weeks for a screening, and another at 18-20 wks. Have you ladies heard the same thing?

Hope everyone is having a great day :D

Oh my goodness!!! Lots of Great News Ladies!

It still amazes me that they can do an ultrasound that early!
And congrats on THE TWINS! I will be sending some partition vibes as well.

I am still working on adapting to my ms. Everytime I try to eat I get that gag feel in the back of my throat. Last night I had to lay on my side to settle my stomach. Oh well, as I said before I will take every pg symptom w/ stride. I am lucky to be pregnant!

Jad ~ Congratulations on the twins! Wow! I'm sending partition vibes, too!

Calla ~ I am also glad that everything is sounding more positive. Still sending positive thoughts your way.

Gina ~ Great picture, your peanut looks an awful lot like mine did at 6 weeks!:D

steviem ~ My DH had the same reaction to the transvaginal u/s. His eyes got really big!:eek:

New QOTD: Are you getting tired/out of breath more easily from things that never did before? Definately! It doesn't take much for me to feel pooped. I walk up a flight of stairs at work every day and it is much more difficult.

I'm still feeling nausea and I am so tired. I feel so sorry for my DH because I am just a vegetable when I get home. He was getting our floors ready to tile last night. He worked on them from the time he got home from work until about 9:00 and all I did was lay on the couch. I just feel like I have no energy!

Hope everyone's having a great day!

Been busy -- it's so hard to keep up with so many of us!

Lil Mrs Congrats & welcome!

shouldaeloped I am having the same yucky issues down there. I'm also on progesterone (suppositiories) so I'm not sure if that's the cause of the "juiciness" or if it's an across the board thing. Good to know I'm not alone.

bottleored Cute story about the stocking! Yes, I am from Dutchess Cty. and still live there now. We're practically neighbors!

callalilly good luck with your U/S Monday.

Jad DOUBLE congrats to you! I'll send positive thoughs your way -- with partitions-- and keep you in my prayers.

jbenny share your concerns...i'm especially worried about the change in my and DH's relationship since it's so greatthe way it is right now. I guess change can be good, right?

Ryan I can't believe you live in D/C too! What are the odds? I wonder if we leave near oneanother.

gina73 nice peanut photo!

QOTD I'm not out of breath yet, but sure am tired! I'm ready for a nap right now in fact. I can tell it's going to become increasingly hard to make it through the day.

No time for shoutouts...there are just too many! (I do want to send congratulations to Jad on her twins, t hough! Here's hoping there's a partition, sweetie!)

My MS hit Tuesday night. I haven't thrown up yet, but I'm very queasy in the evenings and first thing in the morning when I don't have anything in my stomach. The exhaustion came back with a vengeance last night, too. I fell asleep on the couch waiting for DH to get home from work at 10:00. He got home at quarter after eleven (did I mention that I hate his job??) and I barely woke up long enough to go to bed. I felt bad, I didn't get to tell him about my appointment yesterday or anything. I had to get up at six this morning and I could have slept for another five hours.

My m/s is much better now that I'm taking Zofran every night before bed. I haven't puked since Sunday morning. I'm more tired than ever though. Work has gotten extremely busy and I just found out we're losing another person after tomorrow.

No time for SOs. I've got to get this thread updated and then go to sleep.

Happy Friday, ladies! Wow, there has been a lot going on in here!

First of all, congratulations on the twins, Jad! That is fantastic news! Keeping my fingers crossed in hopes of a partition!

Calla So happy to hear positive news! Will keep my fingers crossed for you as well, my dear!

Gina What a beautiful u/s pic!

QOTD Yes, it is ridiculous how easily I start huffing and puffing. I was straightening up some things in the basement lastnight and made a couple trips up and down the stairs. You would have thought I was running a marathon! It's crazy. I was so wiped out after that little task.

Everything has been quiet on my end. We are taking a trip to see the IL's this weekend and break the news to them. Am curious to see what their reactions will be! Otherwise, I've been feeling pretty bloated the past couple days - trying to drink lots of water to flush some of that out though.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Happy Friday!

Is anyone finding their m/s getting worse as the weeks go by? I've tossed 2 meals in the last 4 days :( It's funny, because for most of the day it's not too bad, but these 2 nights something did not agree with me!

belly photos probably none I would post until after Christmas. I feel like we should take some, but just to see the changes.

Had another u/s yesterday. Baby was measuring exactly where it should be. I saw little arm and leg 'buds' and it even moved a bit :D

calla good luck with your b/w today. Thinking positive thoughts for you!

Jad sending positive membrane vibes your way. It's so hard to believe that drs can be so negative with delivering news like that - especially with all you have gone through to get here. Congratulations on your identical twins.

Ryan welcome back! I am not sick per se BUT I do not want to eat and when that happens I get so hungary I feel sick.. so I eat and I still feel sick. Nothing appeals to me. I think I read someone say in here… to eat hard boiled eggs (or maybe that was another thread) well I did that last night and they were so good….. Same here. In fact, I made hb eggs last night, but I felt so awful I forgot to put them in the fridge after they cooled :( I'm originally from Westchester, but we moved to Putnam (where we could actually afford a house with a roof! ;) ) Bottleored, like you I have 8 nieces and nephews and I am the youngest and the only girl. I'm actually the oldest, so my dad called this 'a much anticipated event'.

LIZNKEITH thanks for popping in! Hard to believe it was a year ago that you got your BFP! Hope your Sweet Caroline is doing well!

gina73 great photo! I have to scan my latest. It's just that I get home and the only thing I want to do is lay on the couch.

steviem congrats on the u/s experience. It's going to be hard for me to leave my RE and only get a look once or twice after that!

ffanel hi neighbor!

kaeden's mommy glad to hear you're feeling better. I think I'll toss my hat in the ring for co-threadmistress if you'll have me. Of course, you've done the lion's share of the work already! I'll PM you!

Is anyone finding their m/s getting worse as the weeks go by?

Ugh, yes. It was kinda "eh, not too bad" starting at about 6 weeks. At 8 weeks it suddenly became much worse. Continued to get worse at 9 weeks. And this morning at 10 weeks is about the worst I've felt. I'm able to go to work though (although sometimes I just kinda stare blankly at my computer screen for hours on end), and I still haven't thrown up (although the gagging gets a little out of control some mornings), so it could be so much worse.

Exhaustion is definitely a problem, too. My house is being seriously neglected, but I just don't have the energy to clean after I get home from work.

Pasta is really the only thing that I can say tastes "good" to me right now. I'm sitting at my desk munching on carrots just because I feel like I need to eat something healthy, but they soooo aren't appetizing. Monday night DH and I went to a nice restaurant and I had shrimp scampi and it was sooooooo good. It was a big plate, but I could've eaten another plate full. I want more. :o

stievem Very exciting that you got to see the h/b! Is your 12 w u/s for the BUN screening? My OB recommended I check with my insurance for that, as not all places will cover it, so you may want to do so if you haven't already. (Of course now I'm paranoid and am pretty much calling to verify coverage for everything. :p )

Lilla Have a good trip visiting your IL's this weekend. :)

Is anyone finding their m/s getting worse as the weeks go by? I only started this week, but I could really see it happening. I guess I'll see...

And on the subject of exhaustion...
Most nights I'm totally beat by the time I get home from work and then I spend the evening on the couch. Housework and making dinner are both seriously neglected! And, to top it off, DH made me so mad last night when he got mad at me for doing nothing for the last 2 weeks! Blah, too bad! Somehow he thinks I'm like not pregnant enough to be so tired or something. Stupid men. :mad:

I'm feeling so blah today. Tired, a little m/s (not bad, but pretty constant now) but mostly I have allergies today. I'm so stuffy and congested and I really don't want to take anything unless it gets really bad, so I'm toughing it out for now.

M/s is still not an issue. So far I’ve been lucky, but I won’t count my chickens yet. It is still early. I’m sometimes not hungry and at other times you’d think I was starving.

I was thinking about belly shots last weekend. I may take one tomorrow once DH gets back in town. After that I’ll try to do one every two weeks, but I’m sure I won’t post any until I really have something to show. Right now all you would see is my bloated belly.

Our u/s is on Monday…just 3 more days.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone. I'm trying so hard to stay positive and excited. :D

Count me among those -- bunny and Ryan and bottleored -- who mostly just don't find anything particularly appealing. This gets *much* worse at night. During the day, I'm actually pretty ok and pack myself with protein. But for the last week or so, any actual dinner just has not been appealing. Except for the crab rangoon that DH brought me last night. I had been craving it, so he let me have the lion's share and it tasted *so* good. But otherwise? I'm basically sticking with the constant snacking.

Ryan - While DH and I both do actually have some twins in our families, apparently it's only fraternal twinning that has a genetic link. Identical twinning is completely random. My little Geminis are ture miracles. :D

bottleored - Sorry you lost your hard boiled eggs. About half of mine cracked, so I still need to perfect my technique. But I'll give them a hearty recommendation as well. They're probably the thing that tastes best to me right now.

Graffy - I agree on the tastiness of pasta. That has actually been the one dinner item I can eat lots of. In fact, I know what I'm having tonight! Yum!

Nikosmommy - Don't apologize for the vent! It's nice to know I'm normally for being upset with the way he delivered the news.

gina - A twin, huh? Ah, then you can be my source for how to actually raise these kids once I get over worrying about the next 7-8 months! ;)

Happy Friday ladies ;)

Still no m/s, which is good, however, I am getting a burning sensation throughout the day. I think this may be the on-set of heartburn/indigestion.

Bunnybeth: You know, I am not really sure what the 12 week u/s screening is as the technician was very vague. I have my first appointment with my OB next Wednesday, so I will be sure to ask then. But thanks for the head's-up on the insurance issue. I better start getting organized.

The maternity pants and tops I ordered from Target last week arrived. They are still way too big, but I am happy that I bought them......they were such a great price.

I think I may need to buy some in-between pants this weekend. I am wearing my jeans today (casual Friday) and they are cutting into me. I just unbuttoned the top button and am hoping my sweater will cover it up:o I can't believe how bloated I feel. I just feel "fat" not PG, which is no fun at all.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm so behind in this thread that I'm not going to try to do SOs. I had my first appointment yesterday with the nurse at the birth center. It went fine - they just took a bunch of blood and had me pee in a cup. The interview part was less extensive than last time since they already had everything in my file, so that was good. I have my appointment with the midwife on Tuesday. I did find out though that if they she can't hear the heartbeat then (because it's too early) that I can just stop by the following week - I don't have to wait 4 weeks until the next appointment.

weight You guys, I have already gained 6 pounds. This is not good. And I just ate a big fat fried fish sandwich with fries for lunch. oink oink oink. I think that it is partly because my body just likes to gain weight when pregnant but I have also been craving carbs and bad stuff like crazy. I really need to get my diet under control!

belly shots no way! Even before gaining the aforementioned 6 pounds, my belly was just way too flabby to be photographed. After my first baby, things just never got back quite the same way. I'll definitely take some once I start getting a little bit more of a baby belly and not so much of a bloated/junk food belly.

exhaustion I am always very tired. My DH has been so great though! Actually much better than during my last oregnancy. I think having the acutal kid running around makes pregnancy seem a lot more real to him. He's been doing almost all of the cooking and cleaning as well as putting our DD to bed when I'm too tired to manage.

QOTD I'm definitely huffing and puffing more. I think it is because of the increased blood volume.

Well it is still a waiting game for me...I don't know exactly what my numbers are, but I think they went up about 1500 or so. So, I am really hoping on Monday we see the heartbeat. I am getting pretty frustrated with my doctor's office.

Bottleored, I hope you don't mind but I did a search for your posts because I remember you had posted your HCG levels. I do feel a bit better because I know your situation was very similiar to mine and things are going well for you. Hopefully I will be in the same place soon!

calla lilly- crossing my fingers for you. as long as they are going up you should be okay.

I am feeling like total butt today. it seems to get worse for me as the day progresses. last night I was on the couch rocking because I thought I was going to lose it. all I could choke down was some pasta and garlic bread. it was ugly.

energy levels- before I was pg, DH and I were running 2 miles a day, sometimes more. we went for a walk last night and I barely made it around the block without being out of breath. I am going to be so out of shape after this. . it's rather scary.

weight- as of 2 days ago, I was still down one pound. based on the way I feel right now, I can imagine I would have gained anymore yet but my jeans are getting tight (hello, bloating) and I feel good in nothing.

belly shots- umm. . maybe once I am significantly pregnant with a solid baby belly. . but not until then. I have a little too much around the middle as it is.

that's all ladies- hope everyone has a nice and relaxing weekend.

Well, today is payday so we are going major grocery shopping. I have been asking all the people at work where they get their snacks. One girl had like a carrots and ranch snack pack from Costco! I'm also getting a bulk pack of string cheese and other healthy snacks. I need to stop convincing myself that peanut butter cookies are good for me because of the protein in peanuts!! They just seem to be the only thing that settles my m/s lately.

Is anyone finding their m/s getting worse as the weeks go by? For me I think it has been about the same since week 4 or 5. Today the Dr. put me on 8 mg Zofran in the morning and 4 at night. I am also going to take Unisom and B-6.

Weight? I was 156 according to the Dr.'s scale and now I am down to 148. The Dr. is not worried because I am not losing terribly rapidly according to him and basically I was already overweight enough to where the baby has plenty to live on... hmmpf :mad: ! Pregnancy is the best diet ever (for me).

Weight I think I've gained about six pounds so far, too. I know a lot of it is bloating. Anyone know how much water we should be drinking?
Belly Shots I have been taking one every week since I found out. I know there isn't going to be much of a difference in the beginning, but it's still fun. :D

Anyone know how much water we should be drinking?
My dr. said 32 ozs. per day...nothing more or less than what we should be drinking normally.

I've been MIA from here...thank you to my VERY sick DD. SHe has an ear infection in both ears and is on steriods, which basically translates to zero sleep for Mommy. Oh, what I have to look forward to in 7 months!!

I've decided that this baby is making me a monster. I am totally not nice to DH, and he is SO understanding. I am just not used to actually having hormones in my body, and I don't know what to do with them!

Weight I'm still down and in my normal clothing, but I feel like I look awful.

Belly Shots I take them on my own, but I'm so not going to share. I, too, have Baby Belly from Round #1...and it is NOT pretty!!

Exhaustion Diong pretty good here. It's our busy season at work, so we're slammed, but I'm managing. If DD would sleep past 3am, I would be set.

I wish I could be on the boards more, but it's just not happening. I do keep up with ya'll and laugh about how we're all going through the same things. I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Thanks, everyone for your answers to my questions about my DH. We aren't having any problem with sex now, I'm more worried about after.

Tired/Out of breath I have really noticed being out of breath. I don't even really have to be doing much of anything when I notice it. Weird.
