A good friend of mine who is in nursing school with me just got engaged. Today is also her birthday... I am going to a birthday "get-together" for her tonight and thought it might be nice to get her something "wedding" related that she could use in the coming months. Any suggestions?

You could try the Bridal Bargains (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1889392170/qid=1127918198/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-2268067-4300911?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) book if she hasn't been planning very long.

EXCELLENT idea Shelby! I know I just saw it at the bookstore the other day and thought of her... but wasn't thinking about her BD! I'll have to stop by and pick it up. Thanks for the suggestion!

If she's into body lotions and stuff, Sephora has some VERY cute bridal sets --

Here Comes the Bride

The first rule of marriage is to marry yourself before you ever marry someone else. Primping and pampering have always been a traditional routine for brides-to-be, and this set has all the essentials that a bride will need before her trip down the aisle, all in a great little aluminum tin.

Set includes a 2 oz Time on Your Hands, 2 oz Soul Owner, 2 oz Purity Made Simple, 1 oz Hope in a Jar, 2 oz Amazing Grace Shower Gel, 2 oz Amazing Grace Conditioner, and a 2 oz Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion.

Thanks for the suggestions Kalo... very nice! I will keep it in mind for the future. Just didn't have time to find those things (or order them) in time for this evening.

Well, I ended up getting her the latest issue of "Instyle Weddings" and a wedding planning journal. I would have liked to give her more, but what I got, although simple was nice. I think she really liked it. I did tell her about Bridal Bargains and told her to check it out the next time she goes to a book store! She told me that she would. The Instyle Magazine, by the way, had such beautiful stuff in it, it made me want to buy one myself!!!

Perhaps the Martha Stewart wedding planner?

I was going to suggest that as well.

Hmmm... I've never seen the Martha Stewart wedding organizer. She's not much of a "Martha" fan, but I will have to check it out anyway. Thanks for the suggestions!

I got my best friend a bag of wedding goodies - I got everything at Wal-mart but I could have gone a bit more upscale if I had more time.

I got a decent size canvas bag that I embroidered her "new" name on. Inside the bag I put three different wedding magazines, a portfolio with pens and highlighters, some scrapbook stuff (since we both scrap), two wedding DVDs (Wedding Planner and My Big Fat Greek Wedding), some wedding music CDs, some foot scrub and massage oils and I got her and her now DH a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant.

She seriously broke down crying when DH gave it to her (they work together). I didn't want to make her cry, but she was very touched by it all. and she gets emotional. :)
