My cousin is getting married next summer and wanted to see some pics of unity candles-specifically the actual candles, holders, and where the candles were during the ceremony.

Thanks in advance!

Wow BethElena Did you actually make the candles from wax?? Your set up was very pretty and simple. I love it! I'll pass it on to my cousin! Thanks!

Keep the pictures coming!

I got the big candles for $2 each at Michaels, and $1 for the smaller ones. There were 6 small ones to represent 6 1/2 years of dating set around the 3 unity candles. I wish I had a better close-up pick of the detail of the candles....

I haven't gotten married yet, so no pics of where they sat during the ceremony, but here they are on my living room coffee table:

I got the candles from Michaels for, like $5, then hot-glued gold beads to them. The candleholders are from Michaels, too. I think it was about $13 for the set. Hope that helps!

Our candles came from Jo-Anns. They are a pearl color and have a shimmer to them. Our stands came from Michael's and were silver. The unity candle had a double ring stand and the family candles had a single silver ring. My sister put the flowers in between the candles in sort of a stepping pyramid style. I was going to make our own candles, but I loved the ones I found from Jo-Ann's and the simplicity of them.

Our candle stand was about 'boob' height so no one had problems seeing us light the candles. Sometimes, couples put them behind them and they are at waist height and it can make it difficult for your family members to see. Our candles were to the right side of the aisle as you're walking up the aisle. Our memorial candles were on the other side.

One other note - make sure you talk about how to pick up the candles too. We discussed how to light them with the physical flame, but DH took the candle out of the stand to light and I just picked up the base and lit it. We should have communicated a bit on that. It looked fine and I'm sure no one noticed, but our pictures aren't symmetrical.

I'm going to have a flower arrangement similar to this:

This is the best picture I have of our unity candle. We bought a tall white pillar and white tapers and added our colors/theme using tiny red roses (like those used in scrapbooking) and red, black and silver ribbon. Obviously, we had an outdoor ceremony so the table was just set off to the side.

A tip for you: Make sure you light the candles before the ceremony. Sometimes candles take a few tries to light when they are new - lighting them before hand makes it a breeze to light when all eyes are on the bride and groom!

ETA: Found one more pic!
