DH and I are wanting to go on vacation around July or next year. Our son will be 11 months old at the time. We love the beach, but also love to sight-see. We would like to spend less than $2500. We are in TN. Any help? :D

I would go to a resort that has baby-sitting on site (in case you want to go out to dinner one night), and also has suites available (so you don't have to go to bed when your baby goes to bed). Based on your location and budget, I would recommend Mexico - the Mayan Riviera is supposed to be nice, and there are some ruins there if you are so inclined.

Have you thought about Cape Cod or Maine? Both are lovely in the summer, and you could easily rent a cabin/house near the beach where you could make most of your meals as a family.

You might consider a cruise that caters to families since they usually offer babysitting on board. I've never been on a cruise, but I think they offer plenty of grown up activities. And, I think I'd probably feel safer with a babysitter I didn't know on a cruise ship. It's not like they can run off with your baby if you're in the middle of the ocean!

We took a cruise with DD when she was around a year. It was so nice that we got to see so many different places, but slept in the same room every night!
If you do go this route, I'd look for the "freestyle" cruises that don't force you to have dinner in the dining room every night. Since those dinners tend to be somewhat fancy, we found DD just didn't have the patience to sit through all the courses.
Also, check with the cruise line about babysitters. We were on NCL, and while they did have a program for kids over 2 (I think they had to be potty trained to participate), I can't remember if they offered a babysitting service.

Cruise for sure! DH and I went on one for our honeymoon. They are big time family oreintated (sp?) they have onboard babysitting where they do all sorts of fun things for little ones. It's wonderful!!! Plus it's not that expensive. Have fun!
