Charting Our Course to the BFPs
http://www.ripleysorlando.com/images2/fertilitystatues.jpg
The fertility statues are known to work for some who rub them around the time of possible conception.
It is said that the baby is the most potent part of the statue.
So rub away! :D It's worth a shot!
Who we are:
This is a group of women using charting (temperatures, CM, CP, OPK/FM results, or a combination of these) to try to conceive and, along the way, are learning a heckuvalot about their own bodies! Many of us use a software program to keep track of our charts as well as allowing us to share them with each other. The most common ones are FertitlityFriend.com and Ovusoft.com.
Your threadmistresses for this thread are Baby Lust and Mystikal!
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, feel free to email us! (charting_is_knowledge@yahoo.com)
To our members:
This thread gets very busy at times, so in order to keep things less overwhelming and a bit more organized, we start a new thread each month as well as after 3 BFPs. A link to the new thread is always posted at the end of the current thread to help everyone find their way over. The threadmistress would really appreciate it if everyone would post their updates in Red. That way, if I get a bit behind, it is much quicker to get the thread up-to-date.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Want to join the fun??
We welcome one and all. It doesn’t matter if you have never charted before or if you’ve been charting to avoid. I am sure you will find lots of help and support in this group.
If you would like to join, CD1 is the time to do it! That way, we can cheer you on
throughout your cycle, rather than 2 days before you test!
Please don't be discouraged by the number of posts in this thread. You don’t have to read the whole thread to join. Feel free to just jump in on the last page. Just read through these first couple of posts and post a reply with the following information and we will get you added right away. Of course, none of this info is a must but we like to know a little bit about one another.

Things I Have Learned About TTC
by WC's Sherylb
* TTC is a journey. You will discover things about yourself that you never expected. You will face fears you never thought you had. You will find joy in little things.
* TTC can bring you closer to your DH, or it can pull you apart. If your marriage is not solid, you will find out quickly.
* No one understands exactly what you are feeling at any given moment, but someone can empathize at least a little bit.
* You will experience an emotional roller coaster ride. There will be highs and lows and fast moments and slow. Sometimes you have to wait in a very, very slow moving line. You may not even get the seat you want. It is not always fun, it can be scary, but in the end it is worth it.
* "Just relax" is the last thing in the world you want to hear from someone, but it is OK if you say it about yourself.
* There will be moments when you question your own decision to start TTC. You will wonder if you should wait or if you should just give up. Those are normal. But you will get past those feelings.
* The blue and green turtle likes to pop its head out! You will hear of someone's pregnancy and turn green with envy and blue inside because it isn't you.
* It isn't fair, it isn't easy, and it isn't pretty. But you keep doing it because the reward is worth it.
* You will be your best friend and your worst enemy. Your body will
surprise you and yet disappoint you.
* Some women do get lucky and conceive right away. Others aren't so lucky and have to struggle to get there. Hope you will be in the first category, but prepare yourself to be in the second.
* Once you decide to TTC, there will be babies and pregnant women everywhere! You could swear there is a baby boom going on!
* You will have questions. No one will ever be in exactly your position, so don't be surprised when no one can give you exactly the answer you are looking for. But there are people that can contribute, so don't be afraid to ask!
* Two lines on a pregnancy test is not the end of the struggle. Pregnancy has lots of struggles in and of itself.

- Common TTC abbreviations
This is a list of some of the more common TTC abbreviations. I know as a newcomer to the TTC threads, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I hope these will help, and if anyone has any they would like added, please let me know!
•2WW: "2 week wait" - The approximate time from possible conception to menstruation due date; Pregnancy tests should be taken near the end of the 2WW.
•AF: "Aunt Flo"; Your period; Menstruation
•AFNW: "Aunt Flo Not Wanted"; the day your period is expected to start, but you are hoping it doesn't!
•AO: anovulatory (cycle without ovulation)
•BBs: "boobs"; breasts
•BBL: "be back later"
•BBT: Basal Body Thermometer; This is used to measure your basal body temperature, when you wake up in the morning, after at least 3 hours of sleep, before you start to move around; Use a special BBT thermometer to take your temperature because they measure the small changes in temperature from day to day more accurately than the regular fever thermometers.
•BCP: Birth control pills
•BD'ing: "baby dancing"; baby-making intercourse
•BFN: "Big Fat Neutral" or “Big Fat Negative”; Negative pregnancy test.
•BF'ing: breast-feeding
•BRB: "be right back"
•CD: cycle day; a particular day in your menstrual cycle (example: CD1 is the first day of your period)
•CL: Cover Line; a visual tool used to separate the low (pre-ovulatory) temps from high (post-ovulatory) temps; a coverline is typically based on the temperatures 6 days prior to ovulation.
•CM: cervical mucous; one of the most useful clues your body can give you in predicting your fertility; it can range from dry, creamy, sticky, or (the most fertile) egg white/watery type.
•CF: cervical fluid; same as cervical mucus
•CP: cervical position; an optional, but sometimes really useful, fertility sign; CP will generally be low, firm and closed before and after ovulation, and high, soft and open during your fertile time.
•DD: "dear daughter"
•DH: "dear husband"
•DS: "dear son"
•DPO: Days Past Ovulation; number of days from your post-ovulatory temperature rise. (Example: 1DPO is the day after your ovulation)
•Endo: endometriosis (can be a fertility problem)
•EDC and EDD: estimated date of confinement (antiquated, but still used by physicians) and estimated date of delivery
•EPT: a brand of pregnancy test, or, generic for "early pregnancy test"
•EW or EWCM: egg white cervical mucus; the most fertile quality CM; it is slippery, clear and stretchy, like egg whites; also EWCF
•FAM: Fertility Awareness Method; the method of fertility and/or birth control that correlates the physical changes you experience during your cycle to predict when you are most fertile
•FF: Fertility Friend, an online (free, for basic services) fertility charting site (website); (could also be formula feeding; check context)
•FM: fertility monitor
•FMU: first morning urine
•FP: follicular phase; the phase before ovulation, where the egg matures in the ovaries
•FRED: First Response Early Detection (pregnancy test)
•HCG: human chorionic gonadotropin; the hormone that is present during pregnancy and what the HPT's and blood test measure to determine if you are pregnant
•HTH: "hope that helps"
•HPT: home pregnancy test; a urine pregnancy test you can take at home
•IMHO: "in my humble opinion"
•IMO: "in my opinion"
•IUI: intra-uterine insemination
•IVF: in vitro fertilization
•KU: knocked up
•LH: leutenizing hormone; the LH surge is what is measured by the OPKs; this hormone signals the egg to burst from the ovary
•LP: luteal phase; the phase of your cycle that begins just after ovulation and continues for 10-18 days, ending with the start of your next period; during the LP, your body continues to build up the lining of your uterus, and produce hormones which would support a pregnancy; this is the time when a fertilized egg can implant into the uterine lining
•NFP: Natural Family Planning; similar to FAM, but with abstinence during the fertile period
•O, Oing, Oed: ovulation, ovulating, or ovulated
•OPK: ovulation predictor kit; tests for presence of LH surge that usually precedes ovulation by 12-48 hours; these tests are quite expensive and not always accurate (if you take medication or depending on your age); these are optional when charting with FF, but if your fertility data is not clear it can bring more light and help interpret difficult cases
•OS: Ovusoft; charting software based on TCOYF
•PCOS: polycystic ovarian syndrome (a fertility problem)
•PG: pregnant
•PIAC: pee in a cup
•POAS: pee on a stick
•RE: reproductive endocrinologist
•SA: semen analysis
•SH: "sweet husband"
•SO: "significant other"
•SYS, SYL : See ya soon! or See ya later!
•TCOYF: Taking Charge Of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler; a book and website about charting and fertility.
•TMI: "too much information" - There is no such thing when TTC!
•TTA: "trying to avoid"
•TTC: "trying to conceive"
•TTFN: "ta-ta for now"
•TTYL, TTYS: "talk to you later" or "talk to you soon"

Good news: After getting the run around from the bride-to-be, I've decided to turn down the photography job and continue TTC. I think AF is maybe about a week away, so hopefully I will O in 3 or 4 weeks.
Please add me back to the "roster" -- I guess as folliculating.

Great new thread!!
Congrats to GATOR!! from last thread... I never got back in.
Thanks to all who were sympathetic about AFs arrival... but she disappeared - so now not sure if my 1 day of light was "spotting" or what? I spotted a little on Sunday (nothing on Sat) and today it's nothing again??/ what the?
So not sure what is up?? Oct 1st - I'm making an appt w/ the OBGYN... I've had enough.
I also took a HPT "just in case" - but BFN... which is what I thought, but since I was having nausea I thought ... MAYBE??
Anyhow, hope to check in a little more often now.
Good luck to the testers.

Yay to a new thread... can someone check out my chart? FF changed me O date, and I want to know if I should discard that temp that spiked way down, or not? If I discard it, it goes back to showing an O earlier - where I thought it was. If not, then it will stay the way it is right now.

Nuhmah, I think your O date is correct where it is. Your temp almost always plummets right before O. That is a great indicator that you are Oing that day! :)

nuhmah I agree with FF.
Can someone look at my charts? I thought I had O'd, but now had EW this afternoon and my CP is back up and soft.??? FF moved my O date back to Thurs again but just dotted CH this time, not solid. I'm so confused!!!

hey everyone. I'm still here. . still waiting to O. sigh. I'm ready for some action here!

i didn't know that. . interesting. guess I should start with OPK's today!

ABirney, I would be willing to bet you have not O'd yet. Your temps are still low enough to be pre-O. Definitely assume you have not and keep BDing until you see a clear thermal shift. Good luck!
nuhmah...I think the CH are correct. Sorry for the longer 2ww!
ABirney...hard to tell. The thing that has me stumped is how much higher your temps are overall this cycle. So in comparison, it would certainly look like you O'd, but I'm thinking you didn't...
Anyone want to wager a guess on my chart? I took an OPK at lunch, and it was GLARINGLY negative (just wanted to make sure...).

Can I ask some questions? OPK's measure your LH right? You only get that when you are o'ing or about to o, right? This was my 1st cycle to use them so I'm trying to understand them. I had 3 + opk's. They were on the 18th, 19th, and 20th. I tested - on the 21st. The one on the 19th was DARK and on the 20th it was much, much lighter. What exactly does all this mean?
Sorry for being a PITA.
from what I'm told Dotsie the darker line let's you know you are about to O and that you will in the next 24-36? hrs? I may be wrong on the time. so you should be BDing during that time after. the lighter on is prob the reg LH in your system. your loooking forthe darker line than the test line. did I help?
Dotsie
09-26-2005, 12:39 PM
KLAV You sure did. That just confirms what I has suspected. That I did O on Monday. Yay...I'm 7DPO!!! :D I've been feeling crampy. Hopefully that means something positive will be showing up on Friday ;)

Dotsie, OPKs are strange. They are basically the opposite of HPTs. You should take them in the afternoon, and a line isn't a line. The test line has to be as dark as or darker than the control line. Once you see this, you should O within 24-36 hours, sometimes 48. So in your case, if the OPK on the 19th had a darker test line than control line, you should mark is as a + on your chart. The others should be -. It looks like your surge came quite a ways before your O, but without those temps after the +, it is hard to say exactly when you O'd. Hope this helps! OPKs are hard to figure out sometimes!
MK, If I was a betting woman, I would be willing to bet that you O'd on CD15, not CD12, though it is hard to be sure without those temps there. You CM follows that pattern and your temps leveled out as a 1-3DPO pattern. Not everyone has this pattern but it is pretty typical. So when you do test, keep in mind that it may be too early to get an accurate result. Good luck!
Fingers crossed Rach!! :D

I am sorry I haven't been around in a while. I have been terribly busy with work. I switched to 2nd grade this year, and they really demand a lot of my time!!
Congrats Gator and Sabriel!! Happy and Healthy 9 months to you both!
Sorry for those AF found.
As for me. I am currently 2 days late! I have no cramps, no sore BB's, no nothing. I have only been late once in the past year, and it was only a day late. I tested on Sunday morning which was 1 day late and got a BFN. No light line, nothing. So I don't know what is going on. Either it is still too early for me (13 dpo) or my period is messed up from being sick. I didn't really chart this month because I couldn't breathe for a while due to illness so I can't even depend on that to help me out. I guess only time will tell.

I was talking to my pregnant friend today (due in April) and she doesn't know I'm TTC, so that was amusing.
First day of EWCM for me... so that means let the BDing begin. :D I should probably be O'ing sometime between Wednesday and Saturday given my past cycles. I really need to update my FF chart now, but I forget today's exact temp, so I'm going to have to wait until I get home so I can check it again.

Whoa! I go away for a few hours and now we are on page 5 of a new thread!
Thanks, Amanda for the lovely new thread. Sorry about the BFNs. Don't lose hope yet - it's not over until AF shows. Plus, you are only 10dpo, right? You have plenty of time to get that BFP.
jodylovesscotty~ Hope your cycle was not messed up and that you really are 2 days late! Good luck!
Mystikal~Go get that test so that we can try to solve your mystery!! :)
My question:
In the other thread we discussed what appeared to be my O pains. I had them really bad Friday afternoon and night. Turns out, FF says that I O'd on Friday. But...I am still feeling that pain. It is pretty dull, but still there. If it really was O pain, is it supposed to last this long past Oing? Or maybe it wasn't O pain after all? Ultimately, it doesn't really matter. It is obvious that I O'ed - I am just curious.
Dotsie
09-26-2005, 04:47 PM
UTchick - Sometimes the pains will linger just a tiny bit. I get them on and off a few days before I O, on the day I do O it's so painful at times, and then I get them on/off again for a few days.
I've been really crampy the past day or so and today I noticed (o.k. I might be seeing things that aren't there) that I have blue veins on my boobs. They seems darker than normal but a 2ww mind will play nasty, nasty tricks on you.
I'm petrified to test. I am going to try and hold out til Friday. I will be (by my calculations) 11DPO. I tested + on 10DPO with my DS. I went to Walmart today and bought a box of Equate and a box of Clearblue digital. From our first page it says they both pick up HCG of 25.

Dotsie~Thanks for the info. Everyday I find something new to wonder about and this was today's random focus of my curiosity. If I were you, I would definitely hold out until Friday. I have never been pg, but from what I have read, every pg is different and even though you tested + that early last time doesn't necessarily mean you would get a +HPT that early this time. But then again, I try to wait until 12dpo each cycle to decrease my chances of being unnecessarily disappointed. Unfortunately, I have been necessarily disappointed thus far. Good luck!

An interesting thing happened to my chart today...it now has what looks like an implantation dip. Can clomid and/or prog cause that?! While this is my first cycle on clomid, it's my third on progesterone and my temps and never been like this before (high consistently w/ an obvious dip). Hmmm....only time will tell. Today is 9DPO. I'm holding out until Friday, for sure. ;)

Good luck Babylove!
Kathy - Last month I had O pains until about 3 DPO. Talk about frustrating! I tried not to read into it, but it's definitely hard not psyching yourself up! I'm definitely hoping that this is your month...
Dotsie -I'm a little confused  You got a postive OPK on the 19th? That generally means you will ovulate in the next 12-48 hours-- so you probably didn't O on the 19th. I'm not trying to burst any bubbles--but my guess would be that you are currently 6 or 7 DPO (but- hey that's better than 4, right?) :D
ABirney - I hate it when charts are confusing! It sounds like you are doing all you can!
jodylovesscotty - Hope you figure out what going on soon :( Hopefully it'll turn into a BFP!
I'm sure I missed a ton of people-- I apologize!
So, I'm CD12 - hopefully ovulating in the next 3-4 days. I initially thought I was going to ovulating early, but now I'm not so sure. I am inconclusive on my CM today... I have an u/s on Thursday-- hopefully things will be looking good. DH and I skipped BDing last night-- I figured we try the ever other day thing, at least until I get a definite positive OPK (which could very well occur today). I also asked my hubby to lay of the "self-pleasure" (heh), somehow that didn't occur to him as being important! Boys.
I'll be back to see if we have any new BFPs later-- good luck ladies :D

Good morning, everyone!
marteneym: Waiting for O sucks. In fact, this whole TTC thing isn't easy for those of us with little patience! I hope you get that CL soon!
bunnybeth & spencer's_girl: Seems like a lot of us are busy trying to catch the egg this week! Good luck!!!!
UTChick: I've had (what I thought were) O pains for more than one day. And it looks like others on this thread have felt the same thing. Now I wonder why I didn't notice them until I started TTCing? Strange, isn't it?
Dotsie: I think it is a good idea to wait until Friday. And keep in mind that you may not get a postive result that early even though you did with your first child.
ABirney: My temps have varied between cycles. I'm not sure if it is because of changes in the weather, covers or no covers, jammies or no jammies, etc. I just focus on temp changes within the cycle.
Kaeden's Mommy: Hi, stranger! How are you?
babylove: Good luck! I'm looking forward to Friday!
Wrighty26: It's a wonder that your DH has energy for that after all his BD duties! Hope you don't have to wait too long for O. Good luck!
I'm CD20 and had a big temp drop this morning. Looks like the OPK was right on and I just ovulated. My DH has been so funny this time around with BDing. He was up late last night working on a freelance project and when he came into the room and saw I was up reading, he said, "Are you waiting for my seed?" and started laughing. What a goofball. (And, yes. I was.) ;)
Mornin' all! Thanks, baby lust and ABirney for checking out my chart! I really have no idea, so I was just looking for opinions. I plan to test Monday morning because I'm going out of town for work (AGAIN) for the week, and I'd like to know before I leave. Even though it may be too early.
It should prove to be an INTERESTING couple of weeks around here. There are some fine looking charts just waiting to test. babylove, I totally agree that could be an i-dip! and katmg...holy temp rise yesterday! Good luck with the waiting, ladies!
Hi girls!!!
Amurphy.. that is hysterical about your husband!
I am sorry about AF and to all those who have frustrating issues.... I do not use OPK's because I cannot figure them out myself... :( .. so I am not much of help...
STILL waiting to test... I am on 8dpo... and I am slowly going mad... oh well .. DH and I have 2 weddings this weekend.. hopefully if AF DOES COME she at least waits until Sunday.
Have a good day!

mkvh - Thanks! I was kinda amazed at how high it was yesterday!! Of course, it went down a bit this morning...I'm hoping if I have high temps tomorrow and Thursday that my chart will look triphasic!
I've never used OPKs, so I can't help out with that...sorry!

Morning ladies. No good news in my neck of the woods. Tested again this morning... BFN. And I started spotting brown this morning. AF is surely right around the corner. I guess I need to call my dr and see what the next step is. I would assume 150mg... I am thinking about using prog this next cycle... I wish I knew exactly what the problem was. Originally it was that I wasn't Oing, but now there is no excuse.
Good luck to the testers.

Ugh. Just back here to say that one of my co-workers (not the one with the evaporation line on her HPT) found out this morning that she is PG. It took her 7 months to get PG with her first child and only one month this time around. I'm so glad that she didn't have to suffer through an agonizing wait again...but I have to admit that I'm a little sad it isn't me announcing such good news. I do think it was easier to hear now, while I'm waiting to confirm O, than it would have been when I was getting BFNs. But, yeah. I'm feeling a little lost. Blah, blah, blah. :o
{{{{HUGS}}}} Baby Lust and amurphy!
BTW ampurphy, looks like you've for sure got an O coming in the next day or so...yay! Get on thy hubby!!! :D
polkadot--sometimes I think it's easier going thru the 2ww not feeling hopeful. I'm with you on that this month. Should make the next week a bit more tolerable!
ryan--hang in there. Remember, it is said that patience is a virtue. Of course, it's a virtue I DON'T possess, but still... we all can aspire! Good luck, and here's hoping that AF stays away MUCH longer than Sunday!
Wrighty--sending some good thoughts your way for the u/s! And "Boys!" is right. They never cease to amaze me with how illogical they are when it comes to their penises!
UTChick--I firmly believe that OPKs were created to make us even crazier than we already are. Could I please get a CONCULSIVE answer??? Argh...good luck!

Whew...hope I got most of you all! Can't wait to see what the next couple of weeks bring (I know, I said that already...but I'm really excited to see LOTS of BFPs and June mommies!!!!!).

amurphy - It's always hard. :( One of my good friends has a 1 year old, and was talking about waiting for a while before TTC again, but just this week she said that she hopes she's pregnant by Christmas. I have a nagging feeling that she'll be pregnant before me.
Sorry I haven't participated much as of late... I'm not feeling real comfortable posting at work, plus I'm really trying hard to "relax" this month. That's easy to say pre-O, so we'll see how long that lasts. Just trying to stay focused on other stuff.
Good luck to all our upcoming testers!!

Klav, Looking at your history, I would say that 9DPO is most likely too early. You typically have a 12 day LP. If you feel the need to test, go for it, but as ds said, don't get discouraged by a BFN.
thanks, :( but I most likey will be discouraged :(

What the heck is going on with me? I am officially 3 days late. I did have one month in the last nine where AF came on day 31 instead of 29. Today is day 32 and no sign of AF. I had some very light cramps at work today so I kept running to the bathroom, nothing! Now they are gone. I even stopped at the store and bought more HPT's. I took one when I got home (Fact Plus since they were on sale) and it was BFN. Today makes about 15 dpo (if my O date was right and it looks right because of OPKs). Shouldn't I have already had a BFP if I were pregnant?
polkadot

jody- thats kinda weird....but they say after 18 days and no AF then you have a prob....so what are we hoping for...late AF or BFP????
Baby Lust
09-27-2005, 01:46 PM
Jody, It is possible that you are pg and just don't have enough hcg to be detected in your urine. Did you do anything different this month? Take B6 or anything? Also, sometimes OPKs can be goofy. You may have gotten a positive and not O'd when you were supposed to... possibly just late... so don't get discouraged, even though I know that is easier said than done, but I would give it a few more days. Are you willing to go in for a blood test? Without a pinpointed O date, it is so hard to say how many DPO you really are... :( {{{{HUGS}}}} I hope you get some answers soon and I hope it is a + one! :D
jody--ditto what Baby Lust just said. And you DID mention that you have been under a lot of work related stress adjusting to 2nd grade. Could be that the OPK wasn't valid and your O got scared away by all the stress. OR, if it was correct, you STILL could be only 13 DPO...based on the fact that a + OPK means that you're GOING to ovulate sometime in the next 24-48(?) hours. So if you O'd early on CD 19, you're only 13 DPO today! Highly possible that you could have implanted late and just aren't registering hcg.
UTChick

Amanda~Maybe it is because I have a pretty standard 13-14 day LP, but I think it is still pretty early, so don't get discouraged yet.
baby love~The majority of the time I don't really know what I am talking about when it comes to charting, so you may want to take this for what it is worth, but...that is one nice looking dip. ;)
In fact, there looks like some good dips are happening today on a few different charts. Good luck, everyone!
amurphy~That is funny about your DH. We had a funny moment last week. I was in bed grading papers waiting for DH to come to bed. I fell asleep, sound asleep. He tried waking me up a couple of times and finally asked me if I "wanted some or not." I seriously did one of those sitting straight up in bed "I'm awake, really I'm awake" things while shaking my head around and blinking my eyes trying to ge them to open. DH just started laughing and told me that I must be pretty dedicated to wake from the dead to BD.
Well, the dull pain is gone unless I press on my lower abdomen and then it is just tender. So strange that I never noticed this before. Also, I am new to the CM awareness thing, so what is the normal pattern of CM after O? It seems like a mixture of creamy and sticky. That is today's wondering...

Thanks for all the help about O'ing. My 1st + OPK was on Sunday the 18th. I think next month I will NOT be doing the OPK's. Granted I do like POAS mid month but my sanity is not worth it.

For those of you who use ovusoft, how do you like it? Do you think it's better than FF? I looked at babylove's chart and I like how it's set up.

Polkadot: sorry about the spotting!
As for me.. I have a question re: Clomid. I have crossed posted and I have not heard from anyone yet.. so I thought I would try here.... I know some of you ladies take Clomid.
~I was told to get bloodwork done on day 3 and day 10... but what if day 3 or day 10 fall on a sunday and I cannot get it done? Do I go the day before or after?
~ Also I have a tendenancy to get AF in the evening... is that considered day 1? Or should I consider the next full day, day 1?
I am sorry if you guys have answered these questions before... I was trying to find the answers but was having no luck... thanks!
Ryan!
PS... Numuh... so glad to hear from you again!!! I thought after the WC disaster I would not find you!.... :)
Ryan I'm on clomid but my DR has not requested blood work so I can't help you with that one. it may be to see if your Oing.
the second question - I do belive the next day is day one . I was told that if you get AF after noon or so the next day is your first day. correct me if I'm wrong girls.... it should be the first full day.
katmg
09-28-2005, 06:43 AM
Hmmm...I was told that day 1 was the first day you bleed red - even if it's 9:00 at night. I often start around 7 or 8 at night and I've always counted that as day 1. It'd be nice if that wasn't true - my LP would be longer! ;)

Good morning, everyone! I'm so sorry to read about the latest round of BFNs. What is going on here?! We might just be an anxious bunch of early POASers. It looks like a lot of you are still in the running despite the BFN.
Dotsie: What's up with FF taking your O date away? I noticed that some of your temps these last few days have an open circle. That could be messing up your chart....
mystical: The slow temp drop is really frustrating! My temps stayed above the coverline of my previous cycle for a long time after AF this time around. I think it started dropping around CD9.
Polkadot: 7DPO seems really early for AF. Let us know if she makes a full appearance. It could spotting. The good kind!
Ryan: I know nothing about Clomid. But as far as getting AF in the evening, I would count that as CD1.
We got home late from a Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club concert and were so ready for bed. But I discovered a ridiculous amount of EWCM and knew we couldn't let the opportunity pass us by. So after my DH exclaimed, "What am I? A machine?!" we covered our bases. My temp did rise .3 degrees this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to go up!

Dotsie ~ I hope you're right! :D
Ryan ~ I haven't had bloodwork fall on a Sunday, but I think I asked my dr about this once, in anticipation of this situation happening and he said it was fine to go the next day. But I wasn't on Clomid then, so maybe his answer would have been different. I would just give your dr a call. Do you know for sure that your bloodwork days are on a Sunday? As for AF, I count the day I see red as CD1, and that's what I have been told/read.

DH wasn't feeling that well last night, but he was still willing to BD, as I've still got lots of EWCM. Of course, I usually have EW for 4-5 days but I'm still hoping to O by the end of the week. polkadot- I just got totally excited for you! crossing my fingers.
so I have a question. . do you think it matters when you BD during the days you whave EWCM? I get totally panicky and feel like we need to BD several times a day in order to ensure we catch it. now I know that the spermies can live for quite a while in EWCM but there's such a small window to catch the eggie too. I discovered my EW yesterday and we did the BD, today there's more and I am trying to convince DH to meet me at home for lunch since he won't be home tonight until 9pm. what if it's too late??????
sigh- I wish there was a calming potion for this. I feel like such a spaz.
DH exclaimed, "What am I? A machine?!"
this totally cracked me up. . I get this all the time. funny how the tune has changed from when they were 18 years old to now. . .
anyway- looks like I am gearing up to O although this is a little early. decided to swear off OPK's as the confuse me more than anything. lots of BD'ing this week in store of me and DH!

Hi ladies! Long time, no post. The last few weeks have been kind of emotional and very draining as we did the u/s, then a blood test and pelvic exam, and then waiting for test results. I finally talked to the doctor and was told that it looks like I have PCOS. My ovaries are enlarged with some cysts in them, and my FSH and LH levels were off indicating that I'm not Oing. Plus, I've been spotting for over 5 weeks straight now. And I'm on CD50 with no sign of anything other than nice level temps.
So, I start on Provera this week to induce AF (I've never been looking forward to getting AF this much!). On CD4 I'll go in for more bloodwork (Ryan, they told me if CD4 falls on a Sat. or Sun., to just go in the day before or after for the test and to count CD1 as the day that I have true AF bleeding and not just spotting), and then I'll probably start Clomid.
I was a little upset at first, but am actually more relieved than anything to know that there's a diagnosis for me and not just endless wondering about whether I'm Oing or having regular cycles or not. I'm feeling really excited and optimistic now about our chances!
So, if you guys don't mind, I'd love to rejoin the group and share our experiences. :)
With all of that, Threadmistress, can you please update my stats to include: known issues: probable PCOS diagnosed 9/05, Provera to induce AF 9/05.
Thanks!!!

I had my yearly OB/GYN appointment today. Everything looks good. Since we haven't talked about my fertility I brought up that my cycles are inconsistent and have switched from 28 to 35 days and AF only visits for 3 days or I spot for several. Her conclusion? I may not be O'ing regularly. So, I'm going to try OPK's for 3-4 months and if I don't get a + regularly I need to go back and we'll discuss Clomid.
I'm bummed about this. I know it's really nothing compared to what many of you are going through, but I had hoped TTC #2 would be as easy as getting pg the first time (especially since we weren't trying).
Sorry no time for SO's. I know I've been terrible lately - reading to keep up but not posting.

kaedensmommy - Good Luck with the opk's.
I downloaded a free 15 day trial from ovusoft. While I do like it better it makes me even more confused. Even though we bd'd all the days I had ewcm and + opk's it gives me a very low chance of conceiving this month. WTF???
I have empty dots on my chart because I was not waking up at the same time every morning, or I wasn't getting 2 hours sleep to get a correct temp. Starting next month I will set my alarm for 3:45 am every day even if I don't have to get up that early so my time for temp taking is consistent. I'm still holding out a sliver of hope to prove the software wrong and get a BFP this month. Let's go Friday. I will be between 10/11 DPO (by my calculations).

Ryan, CD1 is the first day of red flow, no matter what time it is. If AF arrives during the night though, I call CD1 the next morning.
I haven't had the CD3 and 10 bloodwork, so I can't help you out too much, but I would think the dr would schedule it the day before or the day after. The month I got a light BFP (which may have been a chem. pg), I had spotting for one day, just in the morning. I don't spot at all mid-cycle normally. I don't know if I had a temp dip or not, as I was on vacation and not charting. Sounds like a good sign!
I had that before and was PG, I would take a test....unless you think it's too early
polkadot---from what I have read, it can be either, both, or neither. And you had a lower temp yesterday but a nice little rebound today. Could have been from a couple days ago since it was brown. Hmmm...I'd say FF would call that possible implantation! Wait 2 days or so and test. They say it takes at least 2 days after implantation for HCG to be detectable!

Just delurking to tell Polkadot that I had spotting on DPO 7 just like you are describing, but no change in temp at all. BFP on DPO 12. I think it looks very promising.
Okay back to lurkdom ;) (here's some DUST for safe keeping *~*~*~*~*)

gymwidow I didn’t really experience any Clomid side effects (not that I’m aware of). The Clomid didn’t work for me so that could be the reason. I tried 50mg, 100mg and 150mg. I am taking Femara now and really like it. I’ve had no side effects.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. We are feeling pretty sad today but trying to stay positive. The good news is that we CAN get pregnant. . . which is farther than we've gotten in the last seven months.
And DH is looking forward to BD for 10 days in a row again (men!).
It does suck though, because I had gotten pretty excited about the thought of having a baby in June. We are visiting a friend with a newborn this weekend and I host a baby shower in mid-October. So, if I can get through those two things, I think I'll be okay.
Hope to see lots of BFPs in this thread very soon.

gator I am so, so sorry. (HUGS) :( Many prayers coming your way. It sounds like you're handling it as well as can be expected, though.
polkadot the spotting sounds like good news! I know that signs of implantation can be spotting, a dip, or even both. (But it doesn't have to be both.) I hope this is a good sign!!
gymwidow I'm so sorry to hear your news. At least your doc is helping you monitor and hopefully going to get you some results soon! ((HUGS))
As for me, my temp went down .2 degrees this morning. Still above last cycle's CL on CD13, but at least it went down. I'm also starting to get some EWCM. FF says I should O Sometime between next Tuesday and Saturday. DH leaves for business on Tuesday and won't be back till Friday afternoon. Saturday is our six year anniversary of our first date. (I know I'm corny, but I still celebrate that. :o) Anyway, if we BD on Tuesday morning, and can't again till Friday afternoon do you think if I were to O on Thursday our chances would still be good? Hey ladies! Our hotel has a public computer for use, but it won't let me access FF to update my chart. Grrrr... Nothing new here anyways, I suppose. My temp is still around 97.1 and I had some brown spotting today along with stretchy/clear EW-like CM. I don't know if this is signaling another annov cycle or not. I'll just have to wait a few more days and see if the spotting continues. I'm getting VERY frustrated but trying not to think about it too much. :(

Gator - Ugh. That sucks-- I am so sorry for all you are guys are going through. Feel free to vent to us any time!
Babylove - Looking good!
Kathy - Going to stalk your chart...
I don't know WHAT'S going on-- as my temp spiked to 98.1 today. This could have been due to it being hot in our room (DH forgot to turn the air down when he came to bed), or I could have unexpectedly ovulated. If I ovulated, I think we have the worst timing!! Geesh. We were trying to do the every other day thing-- until I got a positive OPK (which honestly, I was expecting today), so we didn't BD last night- but did the night before.
I'm just running this all through my head-- I'm not stressing because at some point we will figure out the timing (it SOOOO doesn't help that DH works nights 3 days a week and the last thing he wants to do when he gets home @ 10-11 is get it on)-- and who knows, the temp could be a fluke-- my temps have been higher this month, in general.
I will find out more at my u/s today-- although, it's the Docs day off, so I probably won't offically get my results till next week (thankfully the u/s tech can pretty much tell me what's going on, so it's not like I won't have any clue).
To all of you testing--Good Luck!

Hi...hope everyone is doing well today! I am now on 4dpo. My chart looks a little weird to me because my temp has been 98.1 for the past 4 days. I thought there would be more variation in temps.
I don't remember who asked about what happens if you don't get enough sleep (sorry I don't have time to go back and check). If you look at my chart the temps are all over the place for the first week...I think that is related to not getting enough sleep.

Seems like we need a "DH funny of the day" in this thread! Who knew we married such comics! I have a story but I think it makes me look like the goofy one....After I temp each morning, I get out of bed and log on to the computer. I check out FF, this thread, and the online news. When I'm done with these all important tasks, DH is usually out of the shower and its my turn. So, this morning I go into the bathroom and my DH asks, "What's going on with the temperature?" And I say, "Well, it went up today."
He was talking about the WEATHER.

Question.... I have been trying to do some research on cramping (as in implantation cramping). I have been having these weird cramps the past couple of day - one time it really was gas :o , but the rest have not been, and I haven't eaten anything out of the norm.
Any thoughts? I am 7DPO, with a huge temp change this morning. I am curious to see what happens tomorrow!

I had to wake up at 3:40 this morning. I normally wake up at 6:40. My temp was a little lower than yesterday and I know waking early can affect my temp. How does a 3 hour difference really affect a temp? I remember reading something about it years ago. TIA.
Good Luck to everyone test this weekend. I am still trying to hold out until Sunday. I'm still a little nauseous and I have had slight cramping but that's about it.
What test brand does everyone use?
dotsie I have about the same question sence I woke up at 6ish but did not get up should I be taking my temp when I wake? the alarm is set for 7 but some times I wake up before it goes off??

You temp will change .1 degrees for ever half hour difference there is from your regular temp time. Dotsie since you temped three hours early I believe you should add .6 degrees to your temp. Do you have VIP on FF? That would tell you what your new temp should be.

I was so anxious to test this morning that I woke up at 4:15! I was forced to take my temp and it was 98.43. But...BFN :( By my calculations I am 12DPO, but I guess I could be 11 DPO. I'm starting to think that the pretty chart w/ the "implantation dip" was just from the clomid/progesterone and not really b/c I'm pg. Not only that, the FPS I was feeling all along went away yesterday...nadda. I'm really feeling hopeless about this cycle now.
