Our cruise was cancelled after hurricane Katrina since we were going to embark from New Orleans (our favorite city in the states! :( ) Completely understandable even though it made me a little sad. So, after thinking about it we switched our cruise to February and even enlisted some travel buddies to come along! Yeah, so the port we chose... Galveston! AHHH! We've been to Galveston before and have family in Dallas so we figured it was a great trade off. Carnival gave us $100 per person on board credit to switch and they have rerouted their cruises from New Orleans and Mobile, AL in order to accomodate the large amount of people. (Had to give a couple of boats over to FEMA in New Orleans) Now hurricane Rita is more than likely going to wipe out Galveston! The people of Galveston have been warned to evacuate and it seems most people are taking the warning seriously because of Katrina. The latest report is that Rita is going to be bigger than Katrina. Galveston is no stranger to disaster since it has been wiped out before by a hurricane. I realize my travel plans fall second to the destruction of a city(ies) and lives but it's still nerve racking! Anyone else experiencing something similar? Need to vent?

My inlaws were scheduled to leave out of New Orleans in a couple of weeks and have been switched to somewhere in Texas as well. So far their cruise is still on as far as I know.

You should be fine by February so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

And yes, travel plans are really small stuff but hey, they mean a lot to you so don't feel guilty about a little venting.

I am going on a cruise with my family in January and we too we going to leave out of New Orleans. Carnival was very helpful in finding us a new cruise. We went from a 5 day to a 7 day for only about $20 more and we will be leaving out of miami.
